The Digital Scrapbook Company

Penny Manning, Moderator

Penny lives in Arkansas with her husband, Bobby.  They have two sons who have provided them with the loves of their life, their three grandsons and one granddaughter.  As you can tell from her gallery they are the inspiration for most of her pages.  She has been in banking since she graduated from college, currently working as a VP/Loan Officer for a small town bank.  Within the next three years she is planning on retiring because, of course, working definitely cuts into scrapping time.

After trying her hand at paper scrapping a Hawaiian trip in 2005, Penny discovered digital scrapbooking.  While researching for a way to do the journaling on the computer for her 1st paper album for her then two grandsons, she came across a better way to scrap.  Once she found digital scrapbooking, the paper album never got made.  Imagine that this obsession all started because she hated her handwriting in the paper album!  Penny never thought about being a creative person because the only crafty thing she has ever done was counted cross-stitch back in the 1980's.  She's glad this creative side of herself was revealed because she never knew it existed.

Penny found DSP when she was looking for tutorials for PSE4, her first scrapbook program.  She has learned a lot about being online since becoming a member here, first forum, first chat (Lauren's), first download & unzipping, etc.  Yes, someone had to walk her through unzipping a download!  She was completely new to everything when she started so she decided to take Emma's Intro to PSE.  She says she wouldn't have learned PSE without it.  NKOTB was the first contest she entered in Feb 2006 at the same time she was taking Emma's class.   Penny was shocked and thrilled when she was selected for DET 5 in March of 2007.  It was an absorbing 6 months of scrapping, but now she enjoys being a member of the DET Alumni.

After retiring, she and her husband plan to do more traveling.  Her dream trips would be traveling with a camper all over the U. S. and Canada, stopping and staying at National Parks for as long as they want.  She has already been to Hawaii twice and Alaska so her goal is to visit the rest of the 48 states where she has never been.   Her laptop and a high-speed internet card are a necessity before traveling.  She also plans on indulging more in her other hobbies of reading, photography, starting flower gardening, and learning to knit.  The love of photography and DSLR cameras started after learning to digital scrapbook, because she realized how important good photos are to scrapbooking.  She has inherited her mother-in-law's three boxes of photo albums to scan so that and scrapping those pictures have been added to her to-do list.

While she doesn't usually eat during scrapping, Penny does try to "watch" TV or movies at the same time.  Her favorite foods are just home cooked foods rather than desserts and preferably home cooked by someone else since she's already retired from cooking.  However, she does love gourmet chocolate covered cherries and gummy bears.  Besides scrapping, her favorite time is spent with the grandchildren, especially taking them to different playgrounds in central Arkansas for their Playground Day trips.
