For Christmas this year I made a recipe book of all the family's favourite Christmas recipes. I created then 8x10, as I felt this more user friendly in the kitchen than a square, I printed copies for each of the ladies in the family, had them laminated back to back (I want the hardwearing and easily used in the kitchen) punched holes and treaded them on split rings. I then prettied each with ties ribbons and a little gold bell.
I have uploaded a photo with more details here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=68987&cat=500&ppuser=24)

I was watching your recipe book develop over these weeks... it is inspiring! I wonder if I will ever catch up with my scrapping of past events, Xmas, etc. to get started on a project like this one. So many ideas, so little time!
I love your work... LOs and products!!!

Oh, what a great idea! I have so many of the recipes that my brother and I grew up with, this would be a wonderful way to preserve them.

This is a great idea - only my family cookbook is well over 100 pages - so scrapping it is just not a good option - I also have distributed 30 copies - OK, we come from a pretty good size family, my dad was 1 of 5 and my mom is 1 of 6.

Oh well I know the overwhelmed feeling - too many recipes, too little time. That was why I decided to JUST do Christmas - the recipes which trot out each year - the rest can wait for a later date. Give it a try, but choose just ONE topic - it is fun I promise :)

I am so proud of myself :) took longer than I though it would but I now have these recipe pages in an organised album in my gallery the Christmas Recipes (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1759&catp=menkilen) (p/w menkilen) and I also have some Family Favourites (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1763&catp=kabgelom) (p/w kabgelom) - still a work in progress :)
I hope this gives you good ideas :) they are such fun to do :)

Meryl, your recipe scrapping idea is fantastic! I have wanted to do a similar project for the past year, but have felt very intimidated by it. Your artistic creativity is so inspiring, I shall attempt my own! I have two grown daughter's that I have wanted to pass the family recipes to, but in a unique way - this is it! Meryl, you are the greatest! Please - Keep sharing your ideas........Sunny

Meryl your recipe book is BEAUTIFUL! I received a similar gift this Christmas. My Mom scrapped our favorite recipes this year. She emailed every family member and asked them to each send thier favorite family recipe.
I have to say it is the best gift I have ever gotten. To have these recipes, with photos, and funny little stories about when, where, and how, the recipes came about is priceless to me. I highly suggest this idea for gifts!
Here is her album if you are interested in scrapping a recipe book. *Walton Family Cookbook* ( http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1611)

This is wonderful, Meryl! Great job!
I did something similar when my husband's cousin got married last May--as a wedding present, I collected recipes traditional to the family from his mom, my husband's mom, their grandmother, and me, and digi-scrapped them with a picture of the contributor on each page.
I didnt have PSPX yet (just v.4!) and I was in a hurry so I used my Scrapbook Factory Deluxe to crank em out. They're not my best work but I had such fun doing it. I'll have to upload them to my gallery. :)

This is such a great idea, Meryl -- and makes a gift that is certain to be cherished!
I did a similar project for my brother, who is in an apartment with three kids while going through a divorce. His was a collection of "quick and easy" (but still good for you!) recipes that both he and the kids would like. A picture of he and the kids graced the cover, and because it was supposed to be be "masculine," I did without the ribbons and such. I titled his book, A Dad's Gotta Do, What A Dad's Gotta Do: Cooking With and For Kids.
I sent it in the mail as a surprise when he was just putting his kitchen together, and when he called to say, "Thanks" I could tell he was trying hard not to cry. He uses it frequently, and the older two kids (Sarah and Alex) have begun to put comments and notes in it as they help with cooking -- either with the particular recipe, or in the back of each section.
Your Christmas recipe book continues to inspire me! Thanks!
