Hey, I'm just south of Richmond--in Prince George County near Richard Bland College. I'm new to digital scrapbooking. Just finished my 1st layout but haven't uploaded it yet.

Kim, are those your eyes in the "Magic" layout? Really nice.

Hi, Bassett is in a hole in the middle of nowhere!

Bassett, is 15 minutes away from Martinsville, and 45 minutes away from Greensboro NC, and I think a view hours from Richmond ( 4 hours?) mmm, we are far away, and me I don't have car or american license driver so....

My husband told me Richmond is very nice he was in Fort Lee for a while in the past in the army.

I don't know anything about Virginia, I never left the house, so I don't know how are the other places. I was in Roanoke one time for the inmigration stuff and I liked the structure of the houses looks like in Germany is really nice.

Here is uggly, really uggly, the houses are really far away ones from each others and is no places where to go, no coffee shops, no cinemas, nothing.

I go back to my country very soon ( I hope), I miss to have my friends, and go in parties, dance, talk with someone real. Is really nice to have someone close to you, and forums or chats are really good when you are in my situation. I spoke with other spanish people living in other states and they told me they are really happy and they love to be here, but I think my situation is a bad lucky nothing else, this is why I say I prefered to go back, I need to work and feel in live, share my happy moments and sad moments with friends and family.

Is nice you both are in the same place, this remember me 10 years ago when I was in the crazy youngness life and I was meeting new people from the chat was very funny :p

Any way nice to meet you both!!

I hope my dial up let me upload my picture one day but in Bassett we don't have high speed  I can't believe it!!!! If I knew this I will going to live with the Amish is the same thing!

Big kisses for all of you

Hey Yaaaaaaaalll! :D Ha ha How do you like that Southern greeting? I'm so excited to find out there are others close by who have this wild addiction for digiscrapping! I live in Mechanicsville, about 15 minutes north of Richmond You all are so close! Yes Yes perhaps we can meet sort of in the middle somewhere in Richmond. Its only about 15 minutes for me to drive across the River to the South Side. How funny, For nearly a year I've been coming here to DSP all the while thinking there wasn't a soul even from Virginia!

Rocio,
I know how hard it is to live in a place so unlike where you come from. Living out in the country is especially hard for folks that are used to a big community - I'd be having a tough time of it too! Hang in there and I'll be saying prayers for you!

To all of us Yessenia1974, Art-C, MommyMeg, and skt494 -- The Virginia Girls!

Oh Art-C... forgot about your question ... Those eyes are from a picture of a child whose parents are very good friends of ours. She's also a very close friend of my son's. Stunning aren't they? Wish I could claim them as mine! :)

Stacey --- actually its only about 1 hour from the West End where I used to live! I opened a branch of the bank I used to work for there and have made the trip many many times. My Dad went to UVA as did many of my Friends. Though officially I am against the school on principle (went to UNC)... I errrr ... ::cough:: think its beautiful. The city is especially beautiful in the spring and fall ... What a fabulous place to take photos!

Whooo hooo gals ... now we are five!

Well, I'm a bit late, the last post is from about a month ago I think, but I am also from VA. I live south of Richmond, in Midlothian. We lived in Mechanicsville the first year after we moved here, before we bought our house. Great to see there are people from my own area!! :)

Biffylady -- sorry I missed your post earlier! I spent alot of time in the Tidewater area once upon a time when I worked outside the home! In particular in Newport News and Hampton! Also grew up in NC! How cool that we are all so close together!

Kim, What bank are you with? Before I started working with my husband, I was a commercial designer and did primarily financial institutions. I renovated the "Windmill" branch for Investors S&L (I was their inhouse designer) about 20 years ago. Small world. I'm in the Richmond Quilters Guild an our chapter meets in the Church on Atlee Road. I was there all day Friday and Saturday for a retreat and again Tues eve for a meeting. We'll have to rendezvous sometime! I've met MommyMeg and she is so nice. She lives not far from me. I'm close to Richard Bland College.

Man! Art-C you were probably less than 1 mile from my home! Which Church in Atlee --- I mean literally probably about 1 mile! Thats just wild! I know the Windmill branch too ... if the one you mean that is on 360 (Mechanicsville Rd). I no longer work outside the home, but for about 12 years I was a District Manager for Norwest. Tons! of travel throughout Va - not very conductive to family life! Most of those years were before I was married.

Yes please pm me when you will be in the area again! We'll exchange phone numbers and get together. This is just soooo cool!

Becky, I'm in Midlothian all the time. For one thing, there's Memories Galore. I'm in the paper scrapping bookclub-NYOBC. That's where I learned about Digital Scrapping! YEARS ago and in a different lifetime (My previous marriage), I lived in Brandermill. We were original pioneers there. It's a small world!

Rocio,
I grew up as a military brat. One thing I was taught is to look for the best the area has to offer. You can't compare it (although it's only normal that you do) to the last place or home. I would agree that there's not much in Martinsville when it comes to things to do. But at least you have dial up! The internet has given us all new horizons...things to learn and see. It sounds like you are real lonely. Just use this time to learn new skills such as digital scrapbooking. Start journaling the places you've been and your dreams about what you would like to do in the future. Time will go a lot faster that way.

Drop us a note and let us know how you are doing.

Ann,

Sounds like you are in Midlothian--out 360--Winterpock Road? I was a pioneer resident in Brandermill--1976 or 77--for about 5 years. Kept my horses off Winterpock Road. It's a small world.

Well ladies I haven't been around for 2 years but wanted to post a bit here in good ole Virginia! I am originally from VA but just moved back here 2 years ago from San Jose, CA (was only there a year).

I live in Chesterfield County -- which those of you in VA already should know is considered part of the Richmond Metro area. I am hoping I can get back to scrapping as my life (even though my kids are growing up --all in school now) has taken quite a busy turn.

I work part-time in the cafeteria where my middle schooler attends (Yes I am a Lunch Lady..hehe). I also attend my local community college hoping to transfer to VCU for a BS in Forsenic Science. At 35 almost 36 I think I am finally ready....lol. My long term goal is attend the Medical College of VA (MCV) for a Forsenic Pathologists Degree (MD) and eventually work with the Chief Medical Examiner of Richmond. I have some interesting hopes and dreams huh? lol

I just want to get through my Associates Degree first!

I have 5 beautiful children: Amanda 16--17 in May, Heather 14 -- 15 in July, Chelsea who just turned 12, Logan who will be 10 in June and Ian (my only boy) who turned 7 in January.

I have been married for 12 years to a very supportive and loving husband who drives me absolutely batty at times. :) Look forward to meeting all the newbies and hope this returning scrapper can find her niche again! :)

Later ladies and have a great one!

Laura

Too bad I didn't see this sooner... :(

We are in New Kent, Virginia -- smack dab in the middle of Richmond and Williamsburg. My family has been in New Kent County since the late 1600's....how weird is that?? ;)
