I have been saving to buy myself a notebook. I would love to hear from those gals that use a nb to digiscrap. Do you prefer a specific maker? what do you look for as far as memory, speed, graphics card etc.? Any and all info appreciated.
Thanks

I have used both a Dell and HP notebook to digiscrap. My advice is to get the most RAM you can afford (I need at least 1 GB) the go for the largest HD. I am a techno junkie so I tend to get the fastest processor I can.

Just make sure it is comfortable for you. I loved my Dell but I like some of the features of my HP (like the built in card reader and monitor size). Be sure and consider the weight and how much you are going to be carting it around. I don't travel much but this can make a difference.

Just an opinion but I hope this helps.

I've had 3 Toshiba notebooks and had excellent technical support with each one. Ditto to buying the largest HD, and the most RAM you can afford. Would hate to have less than 1 GB, preferably more. Consider battery life if you travel much.

Both margie and I have HP widescreens. While we love having a big screen and a full numbers keypad we've both had a lot of problems and each had to replace our hard drives.
DH has 2 dell's and hasn't had a problem with either :)

Thanks for your replies they are very helpful. Could I ask one more favor? Would someone (Amanda) mind posting their notebook specs for me. I just want to see exactly what you are working with.
Thanks

I have a Toshiba that's about 3 years old. My work laptop is an IBM t40. My BIL has all Dell's and loves them. We got my Mom a Dell last year. She had a problem this year and since we had bought the in-home service warranty, she had the service done at her house instead of having to mail it back.

I also have a Dell-Inspiron 6000-and LOVE, LOVE it! DH tells me that it has:80 gig harddrive, 1 gig RAM, pentium 4 3.2 ghz and a 15" monitor (pretty much all greek to me). I have, however, seen Amanda's and it is really cool to have the keypad (I can 10 key pretty fast and have really missed the keypad!)

My middle DD has an HP that we got her for graduation last year. It has a 100g HD (of which I'm extremely jealous!!), 1g of RAM (ditto on the jealousy), and a HUGE screen! My oldest DD got a Toshiba for graduation 6 years ago and has just recently started having problems with it. DH also had a Toshiba while we were divorced and loved it. Both of those are now in computer heaven.

I'm hoping that with us refinancing our mortgage, DH will get me a laptop as well. That way I can work on my LOs wherever I go!
