Can someone tell me how I would do this...I think a cactus would be awesome...but I don't know how to use brushes...I have done a bit with them...but I can't even load most into my psp8. The following is quoted from a comment from my LO...also what would be a good color to use???
"I think it would look nice if you could make a brush of a cactus and use a tone on tone of the cactus on the background paper just to break up all the solidness of the papers." quoted by nclauri in my galery

You can make a brush out of anything in PSP - you're using 8 and 8 has really good help movies - don't remember if there's one on making brushes or not, but check that out. There might even already be a picture tube you can use. Google PSP cactus picture tube and see what you can find. If you go that direction with a green cactus, you'll probably want to change the colors of your background and mats.
You can Google cactus and probably find some clip art as well that you could paste on, but it really isn't necessary .. it's just that the colour of background you used is so very vivid, it takes away from the great photos. For a desert-type layout, perhaps you could use beige, brown type colours or soft green-gray ... seems to me there are some freebies in the Freebie Gallery in those colours that you could download. That's all it would take to make your photos pop, which is what you want them to do! I wouldn't worry about cactus unless you're set on it.

ok ... I found a cactus I had taken a pic of on our trip...I extracted it out and then applied a psp effect brush stroke to it...then I made a textured brownish background and applied the same effect to it...this is what I came up with thus far...
I think I need to tone down the lettering..however I can't get it to pop up into my alpha so that I can move or recolor it ... I was thinking on a marigold coloring...any suggestions with that...or with it on a whole...I want to tweak this one before I tweak its opposing page...
thanks for the help!!!!
here it is...
