Okay, I'll be the first to admit I have gotten rather spoiled with the lovely and kind comments I get on the layouts I post. So when this one went by without comment I began to wonder, "Is there something off about this layout that I'm not seeing?" "Is there something I could do to this to 'add pizzaz?' Your insight would be helpful.

I think it's lovely. I personally think the text looks a little flat and out of place. Perhaps make the main pic a tad smaller to reveal the background around it a bit more, then you can put some matching vellum under the text and change the color/opacity maybe...or some word art!
another thing you could try is to make the main pic bigger, and overlap the framing to add more dimension

it's very pretty!

What? My comment wasn't worth anything?? LOL!
This layout is lovely and the colors are so rich. I think it's beautiful!

Oh Meg, it counts for more than you know. I'm just like my kids on Christmas morning when the last gift has been opened....greedy and wanting more! :)

This is beautiful - really! The only thing I might say is add a little more oomph around the main picture to set it apart more so it doesn't blend so much into the background. What do I know? This is a great layout!

I think Emma was right and the word art was 'flat.' I also think I may have gotten the composition so symetrical that it was kind of static and so it didn't really 'pop'? I reworked the word art and changed up the composition a bit. What do you think? (I keep going back and forth now and think I may just need to 'put this layout to bed.' ;)) Thank you for your help and input on this.

Debb - I think a lot of layouts are being missed ... not intentionally but the changes in the site are being a little overlooked. I've been seeing posts where people can't find their layouts and some folks just don't realize that to get the most recent layouts uploaded into the member gallery, you have to click on the small "click here" under the the Member gallery or up near the top "recent photos". See this thread here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10345). Down near the bottom of the thread they discuss why some seem to be overlooked.

That being said ... You're layouts ... both of them are absolutely OUTSTANDING as always! What I wouldn't give ... err well anyway. The thing is I'm guessing here -- but perhaps its one of those that got overlooked because of pilot error ... not because it doesn't deserve them! :)

Many newcomers think that they shouldn't offer comments - we'll have to let them know that we value their input also! There are so many members and classes and activities and layouts that we all miss some -- but your layouts are always on my list of those to check for ideas and creativity, as well as the wholesome loving feeling they convey. This photo is excellent, as is the layout - and you find the "bestest" quotes!

Debb, I have missed so many LOs lately, with all the challenges and all the pictures being put up. The number is staggering. I have slow ISP and I just can't keep up with them all. No excuse just my situation.............
I love your pages they are always so touching.
I really like it buttttttttttt, I must agree the journaling is alittle flat as you said and the last line of text seems to run together. (not you) That font just does that.
The picture is really nice of the boys together, I'll bet that doesn't happen very often..........

OK I just checked out the revision. I love it.
My only ? is when you use such dark backgrounds, how do they print out. Are they really that rich looking? I'm always afraid to use them cuz they look so dark on my screen.

Thank you everyone for your help and input. I really wasn't 'fishing for compliments' or pouting about the lack of comments. I have been abundantly blessed by the thoughtfulness of others taking the time and making comments on my layouts. So much so that when this one went through and only my sweet friend Meg commented I thought, "Hmmm...something must be wrong with it." (This is the curse of being a perfectionist! ;) ) I still don't think this one is on a par with other layouts I have done, but it captures a rare moment between two of my sons so I'll treasure it for that and leave it be. (at least for the time being.) So thank you again and I promise never to pout about the number of comments I get on a layout!

Oh and Tammy, I have two different printers, both Canons. The Canon ip5000 I use to print my 8x8 layouts and I have a wide format Canon i9900 that I use to print 12x12 layouts (I only do my very favorite layouts on this size, the amount of ink used and the cost of paper for this one is a bit restrictive.) But both printers are WONDERFUL. I never have a problem with dark backgrounds designed by DSP designers. In fact, I am often delightedly surprised by the richness and texture that prints out. This layout was done using one of Marcee Duggar's kits. They are absoulutely the best and I would never hesitate to use one...so head on over to the store and go for it! :) (Shameless DSP plug there! :D )

:) This made me smile a bit Debb because I think we all wished our comments were higher or if there are none or few wonder what we did wrong. However, the balancing act we have to do to create these wonderful layouts, post them, and also do life's junk - makes it hard to comment on other layouts as well. This is not an excuse - it is just the reality of the situation. I wish that I had more time because there are so many wonderful layouts out there (yours most especially) I wish to see - but I just can't convince my kids to not want stuff so I could stop working altogether! ;)

Your layout is awesome .. liked it before and like it even more now - it's one of the ones I totally missed and I'm sorry. Unfortunately life keeps getting in the way and I just miss so much - the gallery keeps bopping along at a great rate (which is a GOOD thing), it's impossible to keep up. Your layouts are always wonderful!
