Today I scanned in a picture at a higher than usual resolution on my hp psc 2410xi Photosmart. Instead of the usual 200 dpi, I scanned at 1200 dpi.
The scan took much longer but I didn't think anything about that. The picture turned out great...but the problem is that when I went to remove the original from the scanner tonight, a part of it had stuck to the scanner bed. Removing it trashed the picture and has left a spot on the scanner glass which I need to clean off....(any suggestions?)

My question is...has anyone had this happen to them? Did the longer scan time contribute to the problem? Did it cause the glass to get hot or something? Why did the picture stick?????

(By the way...the glass was very clean before I started the scan. I had carefully wiped away any dust with a lens cloth...no solvent was used).

Any suggestions would be appreciated...I'm afraid to scan anything right now:( .

Thanks,
Linda

I never heard of that before. My guess is that something sticky was on the photo. Try another scan with a photo that is not a one of a kind.

I forgot to mention that the picture was very clean as well....I made sure of that before the scan, even dusting over it with the lens cloth to be sure that I wouldn't scan in any dust particles at that high resolution.

Oh no! I have no suggestions for you, I've never had that happen. Maybe you could PM Janet about this. She runs a scanning business, so if anyone can help you, she can.

Good luck!

 OMG!!!!!!!! I am SOOO sorry to hear that happened to you! I've never had that happen! My guess is that the longer time warmed it up a LOT. What type of picture was it??? How old?

To clean the scanner bed itself, you can use cleaner, but put it on a cloth first, and cleaning is much easier with those microfiber cleaning cloths.

Let us know how it goes!!! Such a bummer!

OOh...I just thought, if what I suggested didn't work, try scanning without anything down again...get it hot, then try it.
