So, now that I have me DRebel I need a camera bag. I dont want one that looks like its a camera bag. We are going to NYC in October and I dont want to advertise that Im a tourist with an expensive camera. Ive been looking online and found some bags that look cool- Crumpler bags. Does anybody know anything about these bags?
Thanks!

For travelling, you MUST have a zipper and preferably a cover flap worn IN against your body. Also, a double layer bag is best to prevent someone cutting it while you're not looking and taking things out that way. Get one that wears on the front for expensive things, with the strap across your body. We use a backpack for water, food, small purchases, and keep the wallet and camera etc either in our FRONT pockets, a front hip bag, or a front underarm/ergo bag.
Crumpler looks pretty expensive! And bright red just begging to be looked at! What about them exactly do you like? They still look like a camera bag too, a little, though not as much as an actual camera carrying case.
I just used a zippered, double-layer fabric purse with some interior pockets and a strap across my chest, with the flap worn IN. It was cute, cheap, SECURE, and low-profile.
My fave for travelling is something like Safe-T vest, clothing or vests with zippers and concealed pockets, or as lame as it sounds, a waistpack. People ain't getting into one of THOSE without you noticing. You might be able to find a vest or "fanny" pack large enough for your camera.
Have fun, be sure to Google travel theft prevention and similar searches to learn how to protect yourself.
Have fun! I'd love to go visit NYC! Troy lived there for two years and will NOT take me back: he hated it! Country boy...
Can't wait to see all your fun photos, and CONGRATS on your camera!

You might try some sporting good stores for some front fanny packs that would hold your camera. I just bought one today off the clearance table at Sportsmart! It would easily hold my camera and it has a place for a water bottle too! It has a couple zipper pockets and an interior key holder. I was really pleased.
For everyday I use a small backpack that was made for cameras and I carry it as a purse. Although I wouldn't do that in NYC. I agree with Emma - get a front pack!
NYC is fun to visit! Enjoy!!!!

I've been through several camera bags and am very happy that I now have a backpack bag. It's made by Tamarac and was about $150. It's well padded and comfortable. I tried a front pack but a camera as big as yours is not very comfortable like that. Your camera is also very heavy and pretty big carrying around all day and if you're like me, you'll want to take it everywhere. My bag holds my camera and about 4 lenses plus all the extras you could use. There is plenty of room for a wallet or other things you need and it keeps your hands free. It does not look like a camera bag, just a backpack. I have a permanent neck injury and looked long and hard for a bag like this. Pricey, but well worth it. I have smaller bags that I can use for quick trips where I will only be using one lens, but on a vacation I would want to take all of them plus battery chargers, etc. Everyone is different and you have to find what is comfortable for you, holds all your stuff and is in your price range. Bring all your stuff and see if it fits and try it on to make sure it's comfortable for you. I outgrew the first front pack that I bought in a couple of months so you should try to make sure it will grow with your needs. It's something you will use all the time and you should make sure it's right. Speaking from my own experience of not getting it right the first time. Good luck!

I agree with Ericas advice, I also use a backpack type camera bag, you need something that is going to grow with you as you add more equipment and also a bag that is going to be comfortable to cart around.
You will also have your hands free to concentrate on your photography :)

I have used thermal lunch bags. The thermal stuff gives good padding and it doesn't look like camera gear.
Actually I have seen some sling type book bags which might work well.: large and roomy but not an advertizement of camera stuff.
