I want to create an ABC album for my dad for his 79th birthday in April. I have a list of ABC's to use, and know what photos to use with them.

My question is...how do you do the pages? I mean, do you keep the same background throughout, or do you change it up some? I love Stacey's BW version, but I've thought of doing the page BW, but keeping the photos colored in order to accent them.

Whadday think? This will be my first ABC album, and I'm so ready to get started!

Use this link to see projects done with that awesome Inkster ABC Album kit...
I used it, and I loved the outcome. Someone used it with b/w photos and selective color on certain areas... it was gorgeous. Who was it??? Dang, can't remember! Anyone know??

Oneluckymom had been doing that technique - very, very effective.

Well, after using the powerscrapping technique and chosing my photos, pages, and elements, it looks like I will be creating the pages in reverse. So many of the photos I have of my dad are BW, it would just be easier to make all the photos BW and use the other elements in color.

What do you all think? Would the color elements take away from the BW photos?

BW photos would look great with coloured pages .. there are tons of them in the gallery. Can't wait to see your book in our gallery!

sure that'll look great. Especially i fthe page is either one color, super colorful, or maybe just two colors to keep things simple. Lots of options...helpful, aren't I? LOL!

The power scrapping is what's really going to bless you on this. Choose your photos, choose your kit or matching kits, and start dragging and dropping (like dropping things into your page protectors to scrap later). This is where I LOVE HP Creative Scrapbook Assistant because Ppower Scrapping/themed albums is so easy. Just lcick, click, click, or a program with a photo bin like PSE 3/4 or PSP X so you can have everything open and just a click away in there, or where an album software comes in handy to just keep dragging things from it onto each layout

You can make each page unique, reusing the same papers for backgrounds and mats, maybe not the same paper for every background, but reusing the same 3 in either background, mat, color blocking, strip, or journaling block, etc, and the same elements over and over, just a few on each page. Don't forget to choose an alpha, I have so much fun with those on themed pages.

So grab a kit you think will work well, that "speaks" to you, and get started! You're going to feel so productive getting this album done so fast. The thing that takes me the most time is the jouranling since each page is unique, but a set of wordart really makes that a breeze when doing the premade titles, then you just use the same font over and over for journaling and maybe another one for subtitles.

let us know what you decide!
