View Full Version : Need Tips on Aquarium Shots

Howdy All!
Hope someone can help me. I am looking for some tips for taking shots inside aquariums. You know when you are down under the water with the glass all around.
Anything special i should do? I am using the drebel if that makes a difference.
Thanks!! Oh yeah if I could get some info soon that would be good I leave for Chicago in 2 days YIKES!!!

Turn off your flash and use your AV mode with your lowest aperature. If you have a zoom lens, don't zoom, get in close and use as much light from the aquarium as you can. If you see a really bright spot in the aquarium, try and wait for the fish to be in the light before taking the picture. Your shutter speeds will be pretty slow so you need to stablize your camera. Liz, I also placed my lens right against the glass... I got some pretty good pics. One is a paper page, so I'll email that to you. lol. I'll post the other.

wow!! really cool! Does putting your lens up against the glass help cut back on all the finger prints all over the glass hehehe

Liz, Erica and Tina have both given you good advice, I haven't anything to add except to endorse Tinas comment of putting the lens hard up against the glass it will help stop the lens fropm hunting although it would probably be best to focus manually and to be sure and turn off your flash.
