Thanks Suzanne for that very complimentary intro (I'm blushing right here) :o , you really are too kind!!! Well hello everyone, really glad to be on board as part of the DSP team & am looking forward to being a moderator for the photographic boards here along with my SIL (U.K Lady). I know that we are gonna have heaps of fun as we learn the basics of photography & being able to implement your new found skills to enhance your L.O's, we're gonna have a ball!

Ok abit about myself, well I've loved photography since forever & can still remember vividly the moment I made my very first print! I'm sure it was at that point that my passion for photography grew. Since then I have gone onto study photography @ college & then went to study the subject in higher education. I graduated from that a little under two years ago but have kept my photography pretty low key since then as I had my little girl not long after finishing my course. As all you SAHM's will well know I've been somewhat busy since then with the constant nappy changing, never ending feeding times & all the other joys that come along with your beautiful bundles of joy, LOL, saying that I wouldn't change a thing!!! As my little girl as grown & gained more independance I too have been able to get more into my photography & scrapbooking which I'm really enjoying. I have been into scrapbooking for a mere 8 months but it seems so much longer than that.

Anyway looking forward to getting to know everyone & I am excited to see all your beautiful images, so get filling that photographic gallery Girlz & Boyz!!!

Happy Snapping!

Emma. :)

Okay everyone ,you have to imagine me talking in a totally English Voice lol.
I am excited to be a part of the photography forum .I love the emotion of photography and how it lends itself so well to scrapbooking.I always try to remember when digital scrapbooking that the pictures are the stars!

A little about myself now .I live in a big old English castle (only joking ) but I do live in Robin Hood land with my own band of merry men well actually five merry men and a merry miss.
I love photography because it allows me to see the world in a different way .I become more focused and never leave home without my camera if I can help it ,my sis in law will verify that one :) hey sis!
I love my photography so much that it has driven me to do some of the most ludicrous things such as trying to get macro shots of flowers in my PJ's only to fall on my posterior as I go sliding down the hill with my camera held high in the air looking like I had just won the rugby scrum for England.
I have many fun stoiries to share and hope to get to know all those visiting the photography forum where you can find out what a CRAZY girl I am but very helpful
I am really looking forward to sharing ideas and helping people to bring their camera skills a little more into focus Hee hee(get the joke).

So glad you're here to save me from my abyss of horrendous photography. Funny thing is I thought I was a pretty good point-and-shooter until I jumped into a bigger pond online and saw what other amateurs were doing!

The fact that I hate my camera is really impacting my photography skills, I can't get a decently focused shot (it's a complaint on all the boards and forums for this camera, so at least I know it's not my fault!)

Hopefull you can teach me something, I can't possibly know much less!

And I'm trying really hard to imagine your English accents, but I keep wondering if it's London, cockney ( I'm sure it's not!), or some other combination of the myriad of possiblities inherent in "English accent"!

Glad you're here! We need it!

Well I definately haven't got a London cockney accent Emma, LOL, not sure whether I've got a strong accent at all really! Anyway what camera have you got Emma? We'll see what help we can give ya girl to make you a budding photographer, the pics that I remember seeing were fine though. But am glad to be on board means I get to work with all you great gals!!!

Smiles,

Emma.

It's a Nikon CoolPix 5700. Nice camera...but big slow focus problems. Takes forever to find focus, and often chooses the wrong thing. Troy takes most of the photos now. He bought a nice new flas and a laser poiner to give something for the camera to look at. The boards said we'll get used to all the Canon guys making fun of us with the laser pointer!
But I'm not enthused about shining this thing at my kids, much less for years: think about their eyes!
You'd think with manual focus it would just focus right where I tell it, but it still searches for high contrast, which is usually the wall behind the kid!
But we can't sell it for what a new camera would cost...unless we parted with all our accessories too and got only a new camera in exchange. I wonder if that new flash will fit another brand...?
Anyway, it's a technical problem we wish we could get around.

YIPPIEEE!!! JUST WHAT I NEEDED!! I am mucho excited about this forum and having such talented individuals to moderate. I have a Digital Rebel...and really would like to know more about how to operate it. I'd like to get the most out of it.

The problem is with DSLR's that there aren't any classes out there (atleast i haven't found any). I've found SLR classes...which focus a good bit on developing film--dont need that. :) And the digital camera classes dont show you about shutter speed, lighting etc...

So Welcome Welcome Welcome..... :D

This is great, finally this old guy finds a group that is as eager to learn as me. Ever since retiring it has become an obsessive passion and with so much talent I hope I too can improve.
Welcome and thanks- Ladies

Hi,

Nice to get to know our leaders!

I do not have much experience with photography. In the old "film" days my dh always took the pictures. I noticed that in the last few years he wasn't taking as many pictures. I think one year we had two different Christmas' on the same roll of film

A couple of years ago I decided we should get into the world of a digital camera. I did some research and decided the Canon Power Shot G2 would be good for my husband because you could set f-stops and aperatures, etc. What I didn't realize is that he would have no interest in a digital camera at all. So....the camera sat around for a good year.

Finally one day last summer, I brought the camera and the manual on a camping trip with us. I was sitting around camp reading the manual and trying to figure it out. A friend suggested that I just put it on auto and take some pictures! So that is what I did.

Since then I found out about digital scrapbooking and voila...here I am! Ready to learn more about the art of photograph.
