When you access your user control panel (User CP) now where you can edit your profile, avatar (little photo), signature, options, etc, you will notice a new note in the Edit Signature section:
Your Signature (NOTE: no commercial scrapbook sites)
Please keep this in mind and edit your existing signature if necessary. You'll also notice a new note in the Gallery.
Credits (no ads please):
Again, please keep that in mind as you're posting layouts. The DSP gallery is for showcasing your personal layouts, not advertising for commercial sites, though proper credit is expected. Thank you!

also, you might notice the credits box in the gallery is gone and is now combined with the description. you might go through your gallery and enter any credits in the descriptions as the credit comments were lost with the change. sorry! it wasn't intentional, but was part of a necessary change. thanks!

How is the best way to give credit. I noticed that after I uploaded a layout, someone went in and changed the way I had worded a credit.

I put "kit name" from "site name". I used the abbreviations of the site name not the whole name and not the web address. Apparantely someone from DSP changed it to say "kit name from another site". Using the term "another site" isn't giving credit to where the kit came from. So I am confused as to how to find the balance between giving proper credit and advertising for commercial sites.

I suppose the answer would be to only use DSP kits:) But I am sure that your intention is not to stifle our creativity and presume that we are not attracted to kits from other places.

Maybe I have missed a thread and there are specific rules for how to give credit when we use kits/elements from different sites that is not perceived to be advertising.

Please advise...

The way I do it is to put the artist's name.

If they are doing a good job of advertising out in cyberspace people will be able to find them and where their kits are sold.

Does that help...like if I am using a kit from Barbara Ann at www.xyz.com I just say papers and elements by barbra ann

liz is right, use the name and not the site. and our terms of use are posted at the bottom of every page on the site. hope that helps. :)

Thanks for your response. Using the creators name makes sense.

OK, I don't use site names whenever possible. But 1 site in particular didn't put the designers names on things so I would just say kit from "xxx" leaving out the .com or net part. I still use alot of the kits from there so now how do I credit them?

they can't be credited by site according to our terms of use, so if you don't have a name to credit, they can't be credited. but be sure to also follow their terms of use. if they require a credit by site, it just can't be posted. sorry.

hmm...I really had no idea the TOU were this strict. I think I have some layouts that need to be deleted:( as I am in vioation of the terms on the other site.

Re: the site changes, there is also no longer a field to name the program we use...is that coming back? Just wondering 'out loud,' not complaining... :)

Questions:

1. Are we allowed to post url's for plugins, textures, fonts, other program use elements?

2. Tutorials?

3. If the sites for any of the above are commercial products ($$) can we post url? (Could be considered advertising instead of informative)

I understand that there should be no posting of url's to any competitive sites or products, but, for example, tutorials could be considered competition for the classes.

Grey areas, at least in my mind and I have posted tutorial and plugin links.

for the program field, that *should* be there. please email help@dsplace.com and let us know which gallery this is happening in.

the terms are as clear and simple as we can make them. no commercial scrapping sites. those are all fine, just simply no commercial scrapping sites. when in doubt, don't. anyone can pm you for the link...
