I'm LDS(Mormon) and was wondering who else is. Anyone else Mormon?
me me! Grew up in Seattle, my dad's family genealogy is Giles from Heber City, UT. My mom was an AF brat grew up all over. 8 kids in my family, 8 in husband's family, they all live in Seattle or Idaho area, though some are leaving now to Colorado, Phoenix, Cleveland, Austin, etc

My husband is RLDS but I don't think that counts for the same thing! Never have understood that and we have been married going on 28 years!! Would either of you like to clarify for me? (he avoids the subject) !

I don't know a lot about RLDS, but I think the original reason they branched off from the LDS church is because they believed that the heir of Joseph Smith should be the next prophet, like a Prince would become the King if he were to die, Joseph's oldest son would be the next prophet. But the LDS church believe that the next Prophet should be called by inspiration through the Apostles. I hope this helps and I didn't offend. I really don't know much about the RLDS church, but this is what I've heard. I find it strange that he avoids the subject.

My husband is from Southern CA! Santa Barbara to be exact. He was a lucky kid to grow up there. We'll probably be moving to Utah sometime this year too; Provo. Where in Utah will you be moving?

I loved reading this thread. Both "dathamary" and I, "decariaj", are LDS. ("dathamary" is my wonderful talented daughter-in-law). I was also born in Heber City, Utah. I live in Ogden, and she lives in Roy, Utah. We are really enjoying this web site.

I am LDS also, and live in Pleasant View, UT! I grew up in New Mexico and have also lived in Arizona and Texas. I love visiting all these scrapbook sites, and this is one of my favorites. The lack of an LDS-themed digital scrapbook website inspired me to create my own! Don't think I can mention the URL here, although I do have a link to Digital Scrapbook Place in my forum. My site is for all of us Molly Mormons or More than Mollys or Less than Mollys, so everyone is welcome!:)

I too am LDS.. Nice to see so many on "board" LOL
I have lived in Oregon all my life. We live in Jackson County....just guess where that name came from... The Church was very slow to start here in the valley because of the great migrations from MO. But we are blessed and we have our very own Temple right behind our Stake Center. Who would have ever thought that would be possible. We used to have to drive to Oakland then Seattle and then Portland and now...

Surprise, surprise!!!!
I knew Emma was by the way she lives, especially when she told me once that she baked bread and even milled her own grain. I didn't want to ask because I didn't think it appropriate at the time and place. But I am surprised to see so many here. I am too. I wasn't until I married my husband. His people came west with Brigham Young and they have stuff in the church museum in SLC. We live in Mesa, Arizona which has more Mormons than all of Utah. Just kidding, but most people here are Mormon. When I met my husband and started to date him I had never heard of a Mormon, but now I am one.
I think the Mormons have made a big contribution to making scrapbooking popular. Way back when it was just starting to get to be popular my sister-in-law worked at one of the first stores to sell scrapbooking products. Have you ever noticed that so many of the major scrapbooking supply companies are in Utah? Back then it seemed that all the paper and elements and articles where out of Utah. I lived in Memphis then and I spent many weekends out in Mesa at her store getting addicted to paper scrapbooking. We didn't have any scrapbooking materials in Memphis. Us Mormons are a pretty creative lot of people.
Kathy:D
My friend's mom is Marielen Christensen who "started" the whole modern scrapbooking thing in the 70s as a Relief Society project on genealogy. She had a color system for organizing events by year (so my friend has her son's whole kindergarten year in pink since that's what the "color" paper was for that year, LOL!) Now she owns the largest wholesale scrapbook supply company.
I got into this in Rexburg, Idaho while a student there and pregnant with my first. I figured with all the baby photos I'd be taking I needed to get my own stuff done while I still could. The local craft store had a huge scrapbooking section, I was pretty overwhelmed.
After she was born and we moved to Austin I couldn't find ANYTHING. Hobby Lobby had a few sheets of paper and stickers, but it took me awhile to find that store, and even the employees had no idea what I was talking about when I asked for it. That was in 1998, and NOW look at it! Swept the country since then, and pretty international now too. It sure is different than what I used before I quit paper scrapping. Basically we had cutesy papers and stickers. The craft has certainly matured!

Well it is so good to see so many Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints here.
I am also a (Mormon). I live in St. George, Utah. Was raised in Orem, Utah. A lot of my ancesters helped to settle the area of St. George so I feel like I have come home. I work in the Relief Society on the enrichment board. Have served as a guide in the Temple here until my husband got ill and I needed to be at home more with him. My husband is also a (Mormon) and was raised in the Orem, Utah area. His ancestors also helped to settle the Provo, Lehi area's as well as the Rockville and Hinkley area.
Good to meet all of you. Carla the R in the RLDS means Restored. Go to the site that Emma posted.

I think most of you know I am too. Was born and raised in Utah, but now live in Texas :)
to get the blinkie in your sig line, first select and copy the link I gave. Then go to quick links>edit signature and click the Image (yellow mountain) button and paste in the link URL into that pop up box.
If you can't get it to work, you could copy all your sig line code then click PHP icon in the Go Advanced reply here and paste it in there. That way we could see what the issue might be.
also, remember that your sig line has a limited number of characters, so you may need to create tiny URLs for things.
Here's the tinyurl for the LDS blinkie

Thanks, Jae Dee! I was playing BINGO and she shared this forum link with me!
Love the blinkie, Emma! We are currently in Utah, but we are planning to move to Austin next summer! Super excited! (I lived in San Antonio for 8 years before college) Hubby lived in Texas, too!
This is so fun to meet people from all over!
that'll be so fun! We'll likely be in Austin a long while yet, though my husband dropped a bomb and says he might want to pay for his last few bachelor's courses himself so he can finish early and move back to Idaho this summer. His parents are in China on a church service mission this year and next, and their house is free, and there's an IT job available at the local school.
Whatever, I love an adventure, but I don't think it'll happen! Definitely LMK when you get here in a few months

I just heard about 7 pm here in Washington. Not long after because of friends in Utah. I will miss him, he was a great man. I'm sure there is a happy reunion in Heaven today. I noticed it is now posted on LDS.org. It's amazing though how fast the news spreads with us.

Yes, it is amazing just how fast the news traveled. My daughter is a Seminary Teacher in Spokane and I was unable to get her on the phone so I text messaged her and she text-ed back....she was on the phone calling each of her Seminary students.
Some of the students at BYU said that the phones were all jammed with all the messages trying to come in to them and them trying to text back.
We are truly Thankful for a Prophet.

Thanks, I just saw that, I don't know why it's not working for me. I had it once and now it's gone. Oh well! I will see if I can figure it out. Jackie
I had to take the blinkie off my server because having it pinged so many times kept bringing it down. My whole site had to be turned off, so it's really important you add this code to your sig lines to get the blinkie back (it's hosted on my blog now, so they can handle the traffic!)
http://tinyurl.com/22t4sq
for those who have already switched over to this new link, your image should be working fine! I'm editing previous posts to have only this new link in it to avoid any confusion. Thanks!
Remember, it's fine to link and use this graphic anywhere on the web, not just here.
As for LDS-themed kits, if you send me what you want, requests, with statements of copyright on the images, I would be willing to make some freebie logos etc. As long as the copyright includes this type of usage, I'd be happy to.

I'm LDS and I joined when I was 15. My friend invited me to a youth dance and wanted me to spend the night but her father said I could only spend the night if I went to church with them the next day. Well, here I am 20 years later!

JaeDee I love that layout.
I have so many temple pics and I've never scrapbooked one. Maybe I should do a album about my beliefs and faith. hmmm
 Anyone:
I was wondering if there is a place in the gallery for LDS layouts. I was thinking I might make a few pages using quotes from General Conference. I heard so many great quotes in the talk President Monson gave at the end of the Sun. Morning session. I don't remember the title of the talk but it was about living in the now. (He quoted the play Our Town)
I think it would be fun to use conference quotes to make an advice album for my kids.

I am open to making some LDS-themed freebies. Make your requests! I am very slow for lack of time, but let's start some requests, and I will get to it. LDS standard works scripture word art, logos that are copyright released, common LDS themes, etc
If you have any LDS freebies you'd like to share, we can discuss ways of doing that also.

Requests...fabulous!
I don't have anything specific really but most of my LDS photos usually involve:
blessing day, scout camp, girls camp, youth temple trips, baptism, new beginnings, and weddings. The usual LDS schedule. (maybe not in that order!)
I think some brushes made from LDS quotes would be great. In the store the Psalm brushes are great ...maybe some BOM brushes like that.
Oh, and I like the scripture Matthew 6:21
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also
Hope this helps.
