MINI-ALBUM Challenge!!

With all of the new mini albums in the store, it’s time to have another MINI-ALBUM Challenge!

Let’s do this together!!!!

1. Choose your photos, and perhaps even a theme. There are several challenges using specific mini album kits going on right now and participating in those challenges counts towards the prizes in this one too. I will add links to threads as more sub-challenges are posted. Right now we have:
a. 2. Choose a mini album (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_33)kit from the store to use if you are not inclined to participate in a specific challenge above. The 4x6 kits are only $3.99 and the 6x6 and 8x8 ones are $5.99 and most have 12 pages! Such a deal to have a designer do all the hard work for us to just plop our photos in! NOTE: Only mini albums from the DSP store are eligible for prizes.

3. Select your photos and for easy access, copy them to the same folder as your mini album. Crop your photos tight and use the same treatment on them to provide consistency (examples: use a white border or change the photos to black and white or a Virtual Photographer digital filter on all of them). Clone out distracting stuff in the background of the photo or create a depth of field to blur the background and keep your subject in focus.

4. Choose your fonts carefully because you should use the same ones on each page. For example use a handwriting font to journal and a stamp font to title. I like to select three colors from the mini album page for my text, a dark, medium and light color.

5. If you are doing an ABC album, choose an alpha to match the kit.

6. GO GO GO!! You’ll be surprised how fast you can go using a mini kit and preselected fonts!!

7. Post your layouts to the Mini Album Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1915) or appropriate gallery for your challenge (Example, the Scrappy Chat Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1764)instead of the Mini Album Gallery)

8. YOU MUST post to this thread (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?p=103765#post103765) when you have completed an album to qualify for a drawing for a PRIZE! It's easier for me to keep track of the completed albums if they are in a different thread. Post questions and comments right here in this thread.

9. THE PRIZES!!
a. Every two weeks I’ll do a random drawing of the people that have finished an album during that time for a $3.99 coupon to the DSP store (To be eligible for one drawing, your album must be completed by the following dates March 15, March 29, April 12, April 26, May 10, May 24. Each completed album will be eligible only once for a drawing.) NOTE: Only DSP mini albums from the store are eligible for the drawing.
b. On MaY 24, whoever has the most completed albums will receive a $20 coupon to the store for downloads and CDs. If there is a tie, I’ll do a drawing for the winner.

I finished a Girly Girl mini album (have I mentioned how much I love this?) but I put it in my gallery. This is probably a newbie kind of question so please forgive me, but when I move it into another gallery it appears as separate pages...is this what I want it to do? :confused: (I've never uploaded a whole album before, only a page at a time.) I have been wanting to do a wedding book...it's been almost 8 years and I've never scrapped it. You think it's time? I've started uploading my Blanket mini album up to the mini album gallery. It's 15 pages though so it's going to take me awhile to get it all there. :)

WOW, now that schools dont for a few weeks I can do some work here! Here's my question: I want to do an album for my MIL, she is in her late 80's so the 8x8 wont do - can the premade albums be sucessfully resized to 12x12 without losing too much quality?

This is going to be so much fun!

No, resizing to 12x12 won't work - you'll lose to much detail when resizing. DSP is branching out in sizes of album and 12x12 is coming as soon as a designer makes one. In the mean time, you may want to buy some ploppers that will be able to rotate or mirror to get two-page spreads out of them if the 8x8s won't work for you. I LOVE ploppers!

I have started uploading pages from my wedding album. I seem to be having a hard time resizing these so that they look good in the gallery. Is this just because they start out smaller already, so that when you take them down to 72 dpi, they get really pixelized? Does anyone know what I'm talking about ??

When I uploaded the pages for my first (and only, so far) mini album I put them all in my regular gallery and didn't even think to make an album in My Albums and load them there. Is there a way to move them over to the album I created for them too late? Or will I have to upload them all again?

Once you create your album, you can go to each layout photo and click edit photo, then at the bottom of the gallery list is your albums. Unfortunately, you can't do this in move photo, you have to edit photo.

I'm not sure what qualifies as a mini album. I've begun uploading an album that I am doing for my mother-in-law. I've used the photos from our wedding, and Kim Liddard's Eternity Mini Album. It's over twenty five pages so far. Is that too much or not enough?
I also was not sure of where to upload it, so I set up an album in my gallery. It's located here: Mini Album for Mom (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2449)

All CC on any of the layouts would be appreciated. I want this to be great for her.

Cynthia! I'd say 25 pages was an album, but YOU are the judge of that. There is a mini album gallery, but please don't move all 25 pages there. If you like, you can move one to that gallery.

I did an album for my mom's mother's day .........It was more a composite of various LO and not necessarily a theme!

Those will have to wait until the summer to make!

Okay........I'm not sure I'm doing this right....I first posted my Album in My Gallery My Albums, but then I remembered I was supposed to put it in the Mini Album challenge.....but when I did that, it just put all my pictures in My Gallery and not together as an album (can you tell this is my first album??!) anyway......is there a way to post there and keep it as an album like it is when it's in your My Albums???

but before you look at it please know that the pictures are HORRIBLE....they were taken about 12 years ago with a disposable camera....the lighting was horrible, they were taken from too far away (resulting in 'pea-sized' people), and on and on and on.....I worked with them till I was blue in the face but I really wanted to scrap the memories......if ANYONE has suggestions on what I might try on the photos, please PM ........of course I still have the .psp image and I could re-work them.......
