When I am doing a layout, I make my notes on which kits, fonts and anything else pertinent to the layout.
But, now it seems when I go back to that layout the notes have disappeared.
Does anyone know how I can restore them or find them.
I have Photoshop CS2!
Thanks so much!

I don't know the answer to your question, but the potential for these kinds of issues are why I put my credits and other information on a text layer in the layout. Then I add a very large stroke to the layer so the text is very readable and click on the eye to hide the text layer unless I want to look at that information.

What a great idea Maureen - I think I'll start doing that.

Maureen, after I read somewhere how you recorded kits, etc, I started doing it that way. But, this wasn't one of those layouts.
I don't quite understand what you mean that you add a very large stroke?

Wow Maureen, what a great idea. I have just started adding my notes to the file info and I haven't experienced Joan's problem so far. But it's early days so I think I will start using your technique. Thanks.
isn't it something like File>Image Info, or did you put them on using the Note Tool?
for the text layer, if you add a huge Stroke layer style to it, there will be a big enough outline so it's almost like paper underneath the letters: a big blob.
maureen, what's the link to that layout you did like this?

Great idea Maureen. I was wondering how everyone remembered everything. I just have been limiting my use of things because I can't remember didly.

Here's the link to an example where the text layer is showing. I can just copy and paste out of the text layer for credits information when uploading a layout then I click the "eye" to hide that text layer when I do the final save on the PSD file. Being extra careful I also save a .jpg file like this that shows the credit information with the .jpg of the layout just in case anything happens to the PSD file.

You could always be like me and keep
:::gasp::: paper and pencil next to the computer!!! LOL
I keep a journal right next to my computer. I keep all kinds of notes for my layouts.

I've always used Notepad files to keep track of credits and techniques, but I like your method better, Maureen, since there's no possibility of the credits getting separated from the layout itself. Even giving my layout files and my text files the same filenames, I worry about their being separate files. Thanks for sharing this great idea.

THANKS! This is such a useful tip!
Since I found DSP, I am always searching for my notes. I've been keeping notes on everything from tut's to lo's. Pen and paper and various doc's.
I got so caught up in NKOTB3 that when my boys talked to me while I was working on a lo, I'd say yes and not even remember the conversation so I started getting notes from them. (paper ones). One time when I opened my word notes on chat schedules my son had typed in bold letters "Need cheese Mom". Lol!

I'm still confused. When you say Stroke Layer Style what does that mean?
Thanks

I also use the separate layer in Photoshop to record info about kits I use, etc. I have gone one step further, though. I have set this up as an action which I play whenever I start a layout. I add my info as I create the kit and just turn the eyeball on and off as needed to edit the info.
