Is it possible to take...

A long square or rounded ret and make it look rounded, like a pencil or cylender shape in PSP? You know like chimes, that kind of shape.

yes, fill with a gradient: dark at the sides and white in the middle

But how does that make it look like a chime shape? I just tried it and all it did was change the colour. No effect to it?

take a look at a chime, or a pencil, and start from there. You'll likely have to do something to the ends of it too

Like the frame on this image, it's a wood tone pattern and the gradient is over the top to look curved

Must be doing something wrong then lol. I've been using PSP for a couple of yrs now and I still can't get it to look like I want it too.
