Raffia isnt easy to make - due to the layering - I have made it but have discovered no easy way to do so - other than using multiple layers and shading, shadowing, dodging and burning to get it to look authentic

I know what you mean, Lauren. I'm beginning to think that the easiest way I'm going to be able to do it is by actually scanning raffia and working with that. Actually... that's not a half-bad idea!!!! Now I just have to see about borrowing someone's scanner. ;)

Ive just had a look at that - it provides a nice realistic raffia but only works for photoshop cs due to some of the filters which arent included in version 7 and lower - Im working on a different style now and will post my version here when Im done-

I badly wanted to use raffia & scanned some - I must say I'm of the opinoion that if its quicker, easier & better to use the scanner (or camera) I do it! I've used it on a couple of LO's -
