HOw do you change the color of something, such as a texture bg, w/o loosing the texture?

Do you use the paint brush and lower the opacity?

In Photoshop you can use hue/saturation but that may not get you the exact color you want.

I have three ways I change color in PSP9. I'm not sure where the settings are in PSPX. I think they might be in different places but they are there somewhere.

1. Adjust/Hue & Saturation/Colorize You can play with the sliders or enter the values for the color you want. I usually pick out the color I want with the eyedropper and note the setting from the color palette. Often times after that I need to adjust the brightness/contrast to get the shade I want.

2. Change to target brush. In PSP9 this is found where the lightn/darken brush is. Make the color you want the foreground color. then you just brush it over the area you want changed.

3. Adjust/Color Balance/Manual Color Correction This adjustment is pretty neat. I haven't explored all of it's capabilities but one thing I have done is pick up the source color with the eyedropper, enter the color I want under target color and voila. Sometime I can get a more exact color change this way. The adjustment has a lot of other options I need to check out.

it's best to use an adjustment as canay listed, as using the brush tool and the fill tool just cover everything up. Hue/Sat is the most common, especially for monochromatic stuff. The other options work better for replacing just one color of many, large areas, small area, depends what you're wanting to do as to which tool you choose

I cover all of these in the DSU 130 class, in Lesson 4, on altering premade elements.

Well, I tried everything and I think I like the Change color target or something like that. Works pretty good. :D Thanks.
