Good morning to all of my Cybergrannie friends. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you today. Hugs Meryl as you await the results of your Dads scan, and pray that all will be well. You will all be facing some tough decisions in the next while, and hopefully your siblings will be very supportive to each other during this time. Hopefully, the Dr. as Carma suggested will be helpful as well.
You are such a wonderful caring bunch of friends.
God Bless all of you and your wonderful families.

Here is a LO I did using one of Meryl's fabulous Quick Clicks and photos from my son's family trip to Europe in Sep. It will be a gift album for their daughter. This is one of 16 LO's I have done for the album.

LL made POST #2500:clap: :yahoo: Anyone want to take a punt on how long it will take us to reach 3,000???

Meryl, red threads wrapped tightly around you and your family in these stressful days, a hard time for you especially at this time of year. My Dad will be 92 in June, and is still in good health but the time inevitably approaches where he will need care (and won't he just absolutely HATE that!)
He protects his independence fiercly too!

Be back later. Have a good day everyone!

Thanks for the heads up Jill ..don't know what we'd do without our Patrol Polly keeping an eye on everyone !! Poor Lindabelle ..what a terrifying time she must be going through . And Meryl ..and so many others during this time ! There are so many pages to catch up on now ..but know that I'm thinking of all of you out there and wishing you a magical weekend !!

Adding Lindabelle & Bob to the prayer list. Hope everybody is doing well here as we enter the last week before the Christmas celebration. Thanks for all of your encouraging comments on my LO's. You are the best and most supportive group of grannies. No word yet from Cathiemarie. I'm really worried about her too.

hmmmm hope things are ok with Cathiemarie, I had seen her post a couple of weeks ago on a site with Omni I think about going to California in January. Hope she is just busy. Meryl hope things are going well with your dad I am keeping you in my prayers as well. Kay hope you and Howard are doing well. Sorry you both had to be down at the same time. My hubby seems to be holding his own. Can't say he is improving much but he is home and happier. Time will tell. We are doing fine. Keep looking for the Sun, it will come up tomorrow.

Hello Dear Friends...I took a little break yesterday for a while. I was really worn out.. . Feeling better today and I should be checking in during the day. Oh Meryl, I am so sad to hear about your Dad. It is never easy dealing with situations like this one. It is difficult because it's never easy for one to give up their independence as I'm sure your Dad is going through right now.
Meryl, I have no doubt in my mind that God will definitely intervene and you will know what to do. I will pray for you and your family. We will definitely be pulling on those red strings tightly and sending hugs and support your way. Carma , I'm glad you are doing well and hanging in their. Your spirit is sooooooo wonderfully strong. I too am worried about Cathiemarie, hope she and her daughter are well. Oh and yes we must pray for LindaBelle and her family..tough times call for prayer and support. This is where I find it..
  BBL to check in..love you guys. :santa:

Check out this fun website! I'm betting some of you with younger grandchildren would love this! http://www.elfyourself.com/

Kash, my son called yesterday so we could be on the speakerphone when my two little granddaughters saw themselves as dancing elves for the first time. Their giggles just made our day. Thanks so much for posting this -- apparently it sent all of the kids AND their parents into fits of laughter. My son even asked for one of the dog. :santa1:

I'm surely not ignoring those of you who have troubles right now -- you and yours are in my thoughts and in my heart. When I was growing up, though, my mother always managed to find some humor even in the most awful situations. Guess it rubbed off on me because it truly does help to lose myself for a while in silly little things like elves dancing. If you haven't looked at this site, I'd recommend it. ;)

It's 14 hours since anyone added to this forum- we must all be really busy with the preparations. It took me a couple of hours this morning just to make the bread sauce!
Meryl's "Reason for the Season" is on at 99c today (plus a freebie). It's lovely and I was going to get around to buying it at full price. Lethargy can have its reward:)
Love to all of you.

I just wanted to pop in and say hi, I've been lurking  I love those Christmas charms Meryl, they're so gorgeous.

Yhalos, I'm glad you're feeling better.....I got sick the same evening you did so I know what you mean about worn out. I was so out of it yesterday - I unpacked boxes a little at a time in spurts (around scrappin' ya know.....even illness can't keep me away....I think I am addicted, lol). I tried to sleep a bit, but I had routine blood work done yesterday so I had to stop taking one of my blood pressure meds for a couple of days...when I finally took them, I had to use the bathroom constantly - so no naps here - lol!

Hope everyone is doing well and one more week until Christmas :yahoo:

I'm so glad you had fun with the site! I got a similar response from my two great-nephews, but they did stop short of asking for me to do one with the dog  ... too funny! But now you given me an idea as well...hmm, could be interesting.

I finally finished with finals this week.....whoohoo! :yahoo: and even had a chance to work on a couple of layouts. Here's one of my great-nephew, Joshua......he's such a sweetheart!
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=151496&cat=500&ppuser=41076
I had the opportunity to work on this layout while sitting in a hospital room for two days with my youngest son. He fell on the ice-coated granite steps at college last week and shattered his left kneecap. It was so badly shattered that he had to get a total knee replacement. My poor baby was in so much pain, and will be for some time until his knee has healed. He is going to physical therapy and should be ready to start back to school on time for second semester. Thankfully, he had finished all but one final and his professor will allow him to make that up later. The bad news for him is, the surgeon said knee replacements aren't a forever fix and that he will be looking at another replacement surgery in about 20 years.

But like you, Omi, I try to keep a sense of humor and move forward....easy for me to say.....my knee wasn't shattered!

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone for their good health and that of their families.

Hi Everyone. Kasha that is too bad for such a young man to have to go through this! Thank goodness it is something that can be fixed; knee replacement is so often done now. Who knows what advancements will be made before this one needs replacement. I have a 21 year old grandson who has had a pacemaker most of his life and has been able to live a normal life due to that technology.

Hope everyone is having fun with preparations. DGS and I have been making gingerbread men this weekend. Carma, that is great that your kids are coming today. That will perk up both you and Dick! Have fun.

Enjoy the charms everyone :)

Hmmm Meryl, are these gorgeous Christmas charms the forerunner for the silver bracelet charms we talked about awhile ago:yes: ??? :santa1: I snapped them up yesterday, thank you so much.
This forum is a bit slow this week, JillGF, I guess we are all busy getting ready for Christmas. My "busyness" comes from attending school break up functions and line dance socials as well as Christmas preparations. Lots of fun though.
Kash, what a blow for your son, such a horrific result from a simple accident, is he a sporty fellow and will the knee replacement hinder that if he is? I wouldn't worry too much about the 20 years bit, look back at the advances made in medical science over the past twenty! Your "Santa Baby" layout is so cute Kash, I had already seen it and made comment.
Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun with the "elf" site, I haven't had a go at it yet, but I will. The mind picture of the dog face is very funny! Someone linked a "find the snowflake" site recently, that was fun too - I just played though and didn't submit, did anyone make a snowflake for themselves and submit? I will go and try to find you if you did!
Gail, hope you are feeling more settled over your recent decision and feeling well again after being sick. YH and other sick people, hope today is better for you. Carma, enjoy those kids. Hugs to all the other RGCers, have a great day!

On the count down to Christmas now, only seven :santa: sleeps to go....could someone please explain to me the sudden compulsion that has come over me to wash windows, scrub walls, tidy teenagers rooms!!!!attempt to make the titles in bathroom sparkle, get the carpets steamed cleaned, tidy the linen cupboard, toss out all the out of code products in the pantry......when all that is going to happen is that a hoard of people will swarm all over my place:santa1: , and in about five minutes it will be buried under a pile of wrapping paper and scattered toys and two days of cleaning will go down the drain:eek: .......

Thanks for my Christmas present Meryl,:santa: I picked up my bargains from the store this morning.......Now all I need is to give up on the cleaning, waste of time:santa1: ...

Do we all have our Christmas stockings up yet?.....have you seen the freebie that MarsOlson has on offer:yahoo: .....I don't have a mantle place to hang them, but I am sure I can put them to good use.....there is 3 sets of paper and two stocking stuffer templates to play around with...have fun....stocking stuffer freebies (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20050&highlight=stocking+stuffer):yahoo:

Christmas wishes to all and extra to Kasha and her son, love to know why these things always seem to happen around Christmas time.....

Been having pc problems here  . New Anti Virus program acted worse than any virus i've ever had !! took several days to get that fixed up, I think it's ok now... Crossing everything again :santa1:

I keep missing some of the posts here, they're not being delivered to my email account, just everynow and then a day is missing... But I know we're all in need of great big HUGs and my thoughts are always intertwined with the red threads.

Good things happen when your anti virus program won't let you on-line  , I got a LO done of my grandson... Thanks sssoooo much Meryl for the Christmas Charms, you must have read my mind... I've been looking for some the past week or so. Hugs for you to share with your dad:

I visited the fun links and the LOs posted here today, you go RGCers!! You girls are so talented  :yahoo:

There done:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: My three "People who Love Me" books and my two "All about Me" books and my two Heritage Albums:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: I have shared them with my co-workers and family member and they are a HUGE hit!!! Meryl they loved the kit!

My daughter-in-law--(dathamary is her username on DSP) made me a book using one of the board books she bought in the Store and using Meryl's Navitiy kit and a poem she had written. It is absoultly beautiful. I collect Chistmas books so this is so special!!

Today at our religious service we had 40 teenagers present the program. It was soooo amazing. They sang so beautifully with no music and with so much emotion. These weren't your normal Christmas hymns either! Four of the young people spoke with so much maturity and meaning! It really restored my hope in the young people (after working with the alternative high school student that I do)! It totally cemented my Christmas spirit:tup:

Oh and Saturday we bought a new car!! Well new to us anyway:santa: :santa:

My dear cyber friends I hope that you all stay safe and well during the last big rush!!

Oh Kash, so sorry to hear about your dear son's shattered knee...ouch. Will add your family to the prayer list. Your santa baby LO is wonderful, have left comments. Carma, have fun with your children/grandchildren. Hope they will bring joy to Dick as well. Lindy, I've been there with the antivirus program being worse than the virus. I ended up deleting the antivirus program. Meryl, continued good thoughts and hugs for you and your family too. Dags too funny about the cleaning, I've always said that dusting was a thankless job, and it just gets dusty all by itself, without any help from us. We had a lovely brunch out with friends today, a tradition we started a few years ago...a "Nutcracker Christmas Brunch" at the restaurant in the lovely Minter Gardens.
I've been busy scrapping the gift albums. The LO's are almost done, now to finish printing and assembling them. Good memories.
Hugs and prayers for all of my cybergranny friends.

Kash so sorry about the knee - horrid :) Prayers for a full recovery.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers for my Dad. We went to see him yesterday (& must say he was so chuffed to hear he was on your prayer list) ans he is very bright and perky. The MRI revelead that no stroke (so glad of that!) but nerve impingment in the neck. Yhis is also not good, my OT daughter tells me that should it worsten, he would easly loose all movement. So, plan at this stage, is to use physio to get him a bit mobile, let him home for Christmas (they all coming to me this year) and then probably operate in the New Year, not a prospect to relish at 86 but will have to see.
Once again, thanks for your care and love, you are a wonderful group :)

JaeDee, isn't is wonderful that you've finished all your albums:clap: . I'm sure it's a huge relief. I still have so many things I want to get done. The problem is my poor body doesn't want to cooperate with me:mad: .

Greetings all you lovely RGCer's.... Just popping in to give out some jolly holly hugs ...Meryl what a rough road for your Dad and family to travel during the holidays... Prayers for all to go as well as possible. Kash hope your son recovers quickly. Again not the nicest Christmas gift . Carma how exciting... Bet Dick will perk up tons.. Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy…. Good job JaeDee. Wish I could say the same. I am getting closer though and I am happy to see I am not the only one who waits until Nov to get going on Christmas gifts... I envy those who can start them in July.. I've tried but it just doesn't work for me.. I guess I just love the frantic pace that goes along with waiting as late as possible :santa1: . Lindy, big high five to your Amanda (have been trying to read a bit of the past posts I am behind with and just came across your post). Such an awesome accomplishment and I am sure Murtle Beach is going to snatch her up in a heartbeat... Dag I had a good laugh at your house cleaning post.. It is pretty funny when you stop and think about it…. When I get the “sparkling clean” urge (which I find I get less as I grow older LOL) I stop and ask myself when I last inspected anyone’s toilet bolt caps for dirt    …..Now Dag have you done your famly Caravan trip yet? We just got this months Trailer Life magazine and they have a whole article on caravanning in Australia…. I am so there someday… How are all you Aussie gals doing with those awful wildfires… Such a scary thing… And boy does it take it’s toll on communities… We still have families struggling to recover from our July fires… Jill (E100) all your holiday functions just sound wonderful.. My oldest daughter use to play the flute. Her holiday concerts were always a FAVORITE in this family. Our youngest does dance. They use to do a holiday recital but some of the parents requested it be changed to after the New Year. Understood but miss it too….Hey Pam were you keeping yourself? Haven't seen a post from you in ages...Missing you and your famlies funny stories... Ok need to get working on those gift LO’s … Hugs to all, special prayers said for those in need…. Talk with you all again soon!

Hi all you gorgeous grannies ! I'm doing my 3 am stint here once more .and not a creature is stirring ..not even a mouse !!! Don't know what it is with me ..I usually have no trouble sleeping ! I'm afraid I've been so much more of a lurker than a participater these days ..I'm sorry ! I do love lurking here though ..it's wonderful to read about everyones up to. I have this "fog in my head" feeling which i blame for my current lethargy ..but it needs to clear up soonest ..I still have SO much to do before Christmas ! I am SO with you Yhalos ..I also wish for Dags's energy ! I get exhausted just READING about her exploits ! Well done to all you wonderful RGCers finishing all those albums ..WOW !! That must be the BEST gift to give and receive ! I had such good intentions to do calendars but only got as far as April ..as you all know what a snail scrapper I am this was quite an achievement.. but actually not good enough for gifts !! LOL ..Aww Kash ..so sorry about your boy ..that's NOT fun for a young man to be laid up now . Good news about your Dad Meryl ..I'm sure an impingement is far more treatable than a stroke ,,and although surgery is scary at that age you'll find he'll pull through with flying colours ! He is MUCH tougher than you think and there a such advances in technology nowadays ..he's going to be just fine ! How are you doing Gail ?? You've made such a brave decision and it sucks that you're not well ..hang in there sweet-pea ..be kind to yourself , ALLOW yourself meltdowns and remember Carma's creed ..the sun WILL come out ! That goes for you too Yhalos . I have now joined the ranks of the Bald and the Beautiful ! My hair was coming out in chunks ..so last weekend I held my breath as Howard shaved it all off !!! I was fine ..even joking and showing off ..until he was finished and then HE had a meltdown , saying it was THE hardest thing he'd ever had to do !!! WELL !! That set me off and we had a good cry together and then it was over . I'm absolutely fine now and am quite happy with my little wig ..most people are quite rude and say it looks MUCH better than my own used too !! So great to see your cheerful happy posts Kim .. missed you while you had us all gasping for air as you left us in the dust ,churning out HOW many LOs !!??? We certainly need another title for you now ..things like slimy and snail etc etc will now have to belong to me exclusively ! (and sulky ..I am SOOO jealous !!) You did so good for a Desert Rat !!! I am also missing Donut big time ..hope all okay in her busy busy world ! Well ..it is just starting to get light outside and the birds are starting to wake up to a brand new day ..it's rather beautiful outside and a time of the day I very seldom see ! Oh, I just missed Kay. As she toddles off to bed in the AM, I'll soon be heading there in the PM! Oh, well, sweet dreams to us all!

My (((((((((hugs)))))))))) and prayers are with the lot of you, especiallly those needing a special healing touch.

Love the LOs that have been linked in the last few pages!

Off to find a child's desk. We've had a hard time finding an old-fashioned, unfinished, plain-old-plain desk for DGD. OK, I admit -- I only started looking for it 4 days ago (a last minute idea this year) but now I'm starting to get a little concerned. Does a wooden plank stacked on cement-blocks work for a desk?? Actually Maddie might think that's pretty cool -- but I doubt if her mom & dad would!

Later.

I had this email from Cathie today, and she asked me to pass the message onto the rest of you. She and her family need our prayers!
This is copied directly from Cathiemarie's email.....
I'm sorry I've not been able to update you all on how things are but I just have been so stretched out with things to do with my DD. However, I have felt all your prayers and the red threads pulling tightly. Thank everyone so much for me and please pass on the message I'm about to give.

DD's physical injuries are subsiding now but her emotional injuries are still very painful along with her broken heart. DGS is doing fine and seems oblivious to all the trauma.

I have brought DD and DGS back to my house for Christmas and New Year. A** H*** SIL is spending the holiday with his Brother and SIL along with thier Mother.

The court have adjourned the hearing until February and every day she is away from him she gets a little stronger and is now beginning to realise that she doesn't have to be with a man who would beat her just because he is the daddy to her baby. Chances are he will go to prison for what he did - she had the baby in her arms when he struck her.

This is the worst time of year for something like this to happen and she is wrecked emotionally, one because she had so many wonderful plans laid down for their baby boys first Christmas and because, even though he did what he did she just cant turn off her love for him, but as I say each day she gets stronger and realises she doesn't need to be with him to be happy.

Kade is a credit to her and a wonderfully good baby, so we will do our best to have a nice Christmas and I will post some Christmas LO,s for you all to see in the New Year when hopefully things are not so hectic.

As for me, Im having accupuncture treatment for my back right now and I will be having an epidural at the end of February. Still waiting for the MRI scan to determine whether surgery is needed, but my back is the least of my worries at the moment.

Wishing you all a Very Happy and Peaceful Christmas and a Wonderful New Year.

Love Cathie xxxxxx

Victoria, thanks so much for the message pass on from CathieMarie - how dreadful for a mother to have to cope with that. CathieMarie, I hold you, your dd and dgd in prayer.
Kay, I'm sure you look very spiffy in your wig :) don't worry about the calenders they can wait - YOU and your health are the most important thing at this time :)

OMG Victoria !! Thank-you for the update ..I didn't know what had happened to Cathie's DD .I feel such fury that a man could do this ..I hope they lock him up forever ! This kind of thing is so sickening and yet so commonplace ..what a strange world we live in . She is so lucky to have the support and strength of her wonderful Mum ...and thank goodness little Kade seems too young to be affected . Angel wings around all of you Cathie..I hope it's not too long before her broken heart heals and she can hold her head up high again ! I hope your back gets sorted out quickly too . Biggest hugs to all.

Oh Cathie, I am so sorry, my heart goes out to you and your DD and DGS, I sincerely hope that your DD is getting the help and support that she will need now, the emotional scars will fade in time……..stay strong Cathie, so you can be the rock that your DD will now need…….Thanks for the update Vic.

Victoria, thank you for the update on Cathie and family. Cathie, we have all been thinking of you and your daughter, and worried by your absence, what a terrible thing for all of you to have to endure and it is a tribute to the strength of you and your daughter that the baby is remaining unaffected by the stress and sadness around him. Lot of hugs to all of you and I hope you can find some joy and happiness this Christmas! Good luck with your back issues!

Meryl, hoping your Dad does well with his physio and is allowed home for Christmas. Surrounded by a loving family will be very good therapy for him I feel sure and judging by your latest gorgeous family Christmas layouts from last Christmas, there would be no better place to be than in the midst of that happy group!

YH, I hope you are doing OK today. You are a wonderful person, just like so many of the ladies in this thread experiencing ill health and undergoing nasty procedures or suffering over the troubles of a loved one, yet all of you find the strength and the time to look outward towards others and spread cheer in this forum and in the galleries. I so admire all of you!!!!

Kay, in your spiffy new hairdo, what a wonderful positive person you are. Poor hunky Howard, going into meltdown over having to shave off your hair, and then you going into meltdown over him! obviously you are very good for and supportive of each other. I think we need to see a layout of you sporting your brand new hair???? Good luck with the Christmas shopping, just remember to take care of you first and foremost! No overdoing it just to find yourself back in the vicinity of Dr. McDreamy! DSP member Dawn-in-NZ is going to be chasing you up about getting a chic, sophisticated, elegant avatar like mine:D See? Told you it was special:D! Just don't point her in the direction of bigger cleavage than mine will you:D Remember just who is the Queen of Cleavage around here:D:D

A big congrats to those of you who have completed the albums you have been working so hard at to give for gifts this Christmas. I am hiding my head in shame:(. I was "gunna", I am always "gunna", somehow I just "never"!

All from me, off to another Christmas function in an hour. Give those red threads a big tug for us in this area of the world to send some rain our way, will you? Latest water restrictions: No hoses, bucket watering of gardens only in the evenings, no car washing or filling of swimming pools. Next stage will be only waste water for gardens, no evaporative air cooling!! It is very serious!

Have a great day everyone (it is late afternoon here now, very late with my post today:))

Oh dear- CathieM when I first read about the head injury, I did wonder if this had been the cause, but didn't like to ask. How dreadful for you all. Nobody should have to live with the fear of violence in their own home. I've been remembering you each day.
Kay, 3am? we all admire your bravery, but it is just not possible to go through such difficult times without it all affecting us and inability to sleep must be near the top of the list as a result. Hope this will gradually right itself:)
Love to you all- must run now as I'm about to help cook a Christmas lunch for 65 disadvantaged locals (not just me cooking!!!!)

I agree with you Kay, what an outrage that things like this happen and I hope this *&(^%$# does see the inside of a prison cell for years to come. Fortunately, this poor girl has a mother like CathieMarie to help her pick up and move on with her life. It's so sad that things like this happen in our world.

Also Kay, I cannot believe somebody would actually be so rude to make a comment to you about your wig looking better than your hair. You should have bopped them in the nose. Again, what is wrong with people! I am especially keeping you and Yhalos in my heart for Christmas with prayers for your good health. I lost a sister to cancer several years ago - she was only 35 - and I've seen firsthand what the effects of treatment can do.

Thanks to all of you for sending good wishes for my son. Although his Christmas isn't going to be as enjoyable this year, the timing for something like this is a blessing, if it had to happen. His future depends on his being able to graduate on time next spring since he has already been accepted at another college to complete his graduate and doctoral program. One day, he'll be standing on the moon waving hello to all of us down here on earth!

I hope you Aussie ladies get relief soon from the weather conditions you are experiencing. My oldest son has a friend from Australia that he met in Iraq who will be here on Friday to spend a few weeks with us. He has mentioned the bad weather conditions at home - I wish I could recall the name of the town he's from, but it slips my mind at the moment - becoming more of a chronic condition these days.

I finally finished up some calendars I've been working on for months to send to some family members for Christmas. I've been trying to print them out over the last several days only to find that I put the paper in the wrong way and now have to reprint them. Teach me to think I can multi-task.

Are you just loving the sales from the store lately! I have bought so many new kits, I just hope I can use them all some day. My great-nephew Joshua played the role of baby Jesus at a church play, so I am looking forward to doing a layout with pictures that my sister is mailing me. I took 3 weeks off from the office, have 4 weeks off from school.....lots of time for making layouts!

Take care ladies and have a wonderful day! :snowman:

OMG, I am so glad to hear of Cathiemarie, thanks so much Victoria for keeping us updated. I am very sad and angry at the same time that she and her DD are going through this. It is a sick world we live in and I know what Cathie is going through. Unfortunately I lived through this (not me) thank God but my dear mother with her second husband. I was a child then and I wanted to kill him but thank God, my mom got away in time. After she did, she just thrived, like a beautiful plant who was undernourished and needed sunshine, water and lots of love. Cathie, it will pass, and your DD must, MUST be able to see that. I pray for you that you will find strength in God's merciful love to be able to help her and overcome your own maladies. I know these red threads are the tightest they've ever been right now. Oh, this just makes me so angr...  .....Kay , it's good to hear from you and I SOOOOOO know how far behind you are...I'm probably two steps behind you:yes: It is funny you should mention I allow myself meltdowns, because this past weekend and yesterday I've been really MELTED..:( It is sooo frustrating not to be able to do the things you love for your family at this time or any time. Oh Kay, I gave myself the time
to grow into loving the wig. I have two now, lol..I can be blonde when I want to be and brunette..I look at it as fun. I ask my DH, who he would like today, blonde or brunette.. Oh Life can be so cruel , but yet sooo
wonderous. I try to remember daily that we are here just passing through and we need to try and make good choices for ourselves and those we love. The bigger scheme is not so obvious to many but it is the greatest of all. Kim, you seem really busy but so glad that you could pop in and let us know what is going on with you. Many blessings this holiday season for you and your family . Gail, I'm glad that you seem to be doing OK..I hope you are...if you need to holler, talk, etc. just pm me anytime. I'm not as fortunate as Kay, I have trouble sleeping:eek: . Oh so hard to remember what else I need to address here, Kay I get the fog too. Anway , glad to share a few moments with all of you...I will be back later..to check in..
love you all.....  :santa:

CathieMarie I am so sorry to hear about your DD. Horrible thing to go throug!!! I hope Kade is young enough that he will not remember what happened to his mommy and that your daughter can continue to heal. I have been having accupunture for two months now and it has really helped my migraines. It hasn't taken them away--but it has reduced the intensity. I hope it helps your back.

Yhalos and Kay I am so sorry that you are going though this difficult procedures. Yhalos! I want to see a photo with the blonde wig! I bet you are an amazing blonde!

Meryl hope that you dad continues to improves. Taking away an older persons drivers licience is not easy. I was following a car yesterday of an older gentleman who should not have been driving. It was very scary.

I have the day all to myself--no work--no one else home!!:yahoo: :yahoo:
I'm off to wrap presents!!

Good morning all you wonderful ladies. I'll pass on your hugs, good wishes and prayers to Cathiemarie. I'll let her know which page of the thread they are on, so if she has time, she can pop in and read them for herself. You are all so wonderful and generous with your love and understanding. Kay & Yhalos, I do hope that you are feeling better really soon, and may our good Lord give you the strength, energy and wisdom to accomplish the tasks set before you each day. We thank God every day for the strength for the day, and the wisdom that we need. As a cancer survivor (5 yrs now, & DH with diabetic, as well as other serious health issues), we take each day as gift from God. We do what we can each day, and what doesn't get done today, well maybe tomorrow. Take care, God bless, and we'll talk to you all later. We'd love to send some rain your way Evergreen, we'll add for rain for you to our prayer list.

Just had a pm from Karen ..aka FulltimeRVer..poor girl has been working her butt off at a Christmas tree lot ..how exhausting must that be ?? She does'nt have e-mail but a pocketmail address ..if anyone wants her address just to send her a hug and Christmas wishes I'll pm it to you ! Here 's a copy of her message:
Hi Kay! What a breath of fresh air to hear from you and know i am not forgotten by one of my favorite dsp people!

we are on the downside of this experience. trees should be sold out by a week from today and then we tear down lights, the booth, etc. and pack them up for somebody else to use next year. we are not workaholics who thrive on long hours. we have missed our friends (and each other) too much to do this again.

the weather has not been bad except for a few pretty chilly days. it is warm and sunny in south Texas today.

how are you doing? are you obeying all your doctor's orders and getting well fast?

i will be back online in a couple more weeks. can't wait!!!

After being absent for a few days I was so thankful for all the news. I wish it were better news, though. CathieMarie, my heart goes right out to your daughter and her son. Very little makes me angrier:mad: I have never faced anything like that first, or even second hand, but I have sheltered a couple of women at my home who were bruised physically and emotionally. I know how scared their children were. It is best that this be finished before the little one gets any older. I hope this guy never has chance to touch another woman.

I had knee surgery years ago and it IS painful!!! I hope the young man gets a full 20 years out of that knee and that there will be advances in surgery that will make it unnecessary for him to have another operation.

Meryl, yhalos, Carma, Kay, oh, my, so many others...the prayer list is serious, but the New Year should bring changes, or evolution. Yes, everything evolves. What a wise observation.

My "twin cousin" is home earlier than expected but his wife is in such a bad state that he has already started the mourning process. He has two wonderful daughters who are always there to care for them. His wife is taking daily radiation, but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. He said 2 to 8 months and he hopes the way she is suffereing, that it is closer to the shorter time. He will get his artificial leg in 2-3 months. They are trying to save his remaining leg. I hope he can begin a turn-around in his gloominess, but I don't see how.

:santa: On a happier note...sort of...we had the family party at my daughter's Lakehouse on Saturday. We enjoyed working together and she had decorated to the nines the weekend before. It was all lovely!:santa1: I stayed at the Lakehouse Friday and Saturday nights. Late Saturday night my daughter was hit with a 12-hour flue. She was expecting it since one of her students had gotten sick right at her desk on Friday. Sunday night I had it and was out of it all day Monday. Son-in-law got it after school yesterday. They are watching the two little ones, but hopefully they escaped.

Getting old is beginning to annoy me!!! Last Friday I made a wonderful set of airplane reservations for my daughter and older granddaughter to fly to Florida over their long mid-winter break. Great price for the tickets. Only one problem...I made them for JANUARY and their break is in FEBRUARY. I had it right on my calendar, but just got confused while searching for decent prices. I knew the $300+ was too good to be real. So today I talked to a nice lady at SpiritAir and we worked to get them changed...for an extra $500+. OUCH! Well, Merry Christmas to my daughter and granddaughter. They were paying for the first tickets, but I will pick up the overage since it was my addled brain that made the error.

Keep shopping, ladies. Can someone tell me what I missed on Saturday and on Monday? I got Meryl's, thank goodness! Love them!

CathieMarie, please tell your daughter to stand tall, get well, and keep her child away from his horrendous sperm-donor. My dear mom thought having a "father" was worth any sacrifice -- it wasn't. Tell your girl to be strong for herself and her little one by getting out -- it's the most courageous and loving thing she can ever do as a mother.

God bless to all who are in emotional or physical pain, and I hope the new year brings good changes for all.

Oh, my! Cathie -- how awful! God bless you and your DD and DGS as you all stay strong.

Kash -- OUCH for your son!!! You are such an optimist to look at the bright side to this timing!

Karen/RVer -- we'll be glad to have you back after such a busy tree-season! Wow, that would be quite the job for a season!

YH and Kay -- You two are tough cookies! YH as a blondie -- what a sight! You are such a cutie-pie as a brunette, I just can't imagine you blonde. You will have to share a blonde LO with us sometime!

And LL -- already having Christmas celebrations and flu season at same time. No fun. Glad you are done with it. Your plane-ticket story is hilarious -- but expensive!!

Omi -- Your practical wisdom always makes me smile. Even when the rest of our stories are sad or irritating, you have a way of phrasing things that just makes us 'snap out if it' and move on! You are good for us!

Hey, have you seen Jill's awesome LOs recently! She's on a huge roll! Take a peek!

All of you taking care of loved ones that are not 100% on their feet right now -- ((((((((((hugs to you, Angels!))))))))))))

Later.

Just dropped in for a quick hello. Have been reading all the posts. I was so glad to hear the news from CathieMarie. It is so sad to hear news like that. I hope her daughter can be strong and and focus on her boys and try and forget that terrible man she is married to. Love isn`t supposed to hurt. It is especially hard when there are little ones involved. Kay I can`t believe someone would make that kind of remark to a dear sweet gal like you. There are some very unkind people in this world. I am keeping my prayers and thoughts with you and Yhalos and all the others who are needing prayers and hugs. This time of year is especially hard for a lot of people. My late hubby is gone 5 yrs. Dec. 15th and Christmas is still one of the hardest times of year for me. Thank goodness I have my son and family coming home this year for two weeks from Alberta. So am looking forward to that. Daughter Deb was home from British Columbia for two weeks and I just loved having her here. I am at my daughters most days with new gd and Amy. They bring such joy to my life each day. Amy is too funny when I am there she wants my undivided attention as she always got and when I go to hold the baby she says "grandma don`t hold Lara mommy has to feed her". My sis is coming along okay so far. She has had a few set backs but picks herself up and keeps going. We talk everyday ten times or more. I visit a couple times a week. She figures she needs to make an apt. as I spend a lot of time at my daughters now. Thank goodness we all live in the same town. I am trying to keep up with my comments till my son gets home then I will be MIA again for a while. But I will be checking in now and then just to read some posts if I can get my computer away from the gds. I want to wish every dear Gran a very Merry Christmas with their loved ones. God Bless all who are in pain, suffering, grieving, lonely and remember God sent his son to us to help us and we just need to ask. Hugs and prayers for all of you. Ang

I received this via email and I thought I'd share. Laughter is good medicine I've been told, and we should get our chuckle every day. Enjoy!
Merry Christmas to all

Don't let this scare you.....

'Twas the night before Christmas at Rock-Away Rest,

And all of us seniors were looking our best.

Our glasses, how sparkly, our wrinkles, how merry;

Our punch bowl held prune juice plus three drops of sherry.

A bedsock was taped to each walker, in hope

That Santa would bring us soft candy and soap.

We surely were lucky to be there with friends,

Secure in this residence and in our Depends.

Our grandkids had sent us some Christmasy crafts,

Like angels in snowsuits and penguins on rafts.

The dental assistant had borrowed our teeth,

And from them she'd crafted a holiday wreath.

The bedpans, so shiny, all stood in a row,

Reflecting our candle's magnificent glow.

Our supper so festive -- the joy wouldn't stop --

Was creamy warm oatmeal with sprinkles on top.

Our salad was Jell-O, so jiggly and great,

Then puree of fruitcake was spooned on each plate.

The social director then had us play games,

Like "Where Are You Living?" and "What Are Your Names?"

Old Grandfather Looper was feeling his oats,

Proclaiming that reindeer were nothing but goats.

Our resident wand'rer was tied to her chair,

In hopes that at bedtime she still would be there.

Security lights on the new fallen snow

Made outdoors seem noon to the old folks below.

Then out on the porch there arose quite a clatter

(But we are so deaf that it just didn't matter).

A strange little fellow flew in through the door,

Then tripped on the sill and fell flat on the floor.

'Twas just our director, all togged out in red.

He jiggled and chuckled and patted each head.

We knew from the way that he strutted and jived

Our social-security checks had arrived.

We sang -- how we sang -- in our monotone croak,

Till the clock tinkled out its soft eight p.m. stroke.

And soon we were snuggling deep in our beds.

While nurses distributed nocturnal meds.

And so ends our Christmas at Rock-Away Rest.

'fore long you'll be with us, We wish you the best.

Thanks Ang for the Christmas wishes. Have a wonderful time with your DS and family. The time will go by so very quickly.

'm absolutely fine now and am quite happy with my little wig ..most people are quite rude and say it looks MUCH better than my own used too !!

Kay, when I read this I assumed that your friends and family are just giving you a hard time by teasing you. Isn't that what you meant?

Reminds me of a story. I have a friend who had a brain tumor removed about thirty-five years ago. She lost all of her hair, which really added insult to injury because she was a bit vain. To cheer her up, I took her to a wig shop to find a new "do." She and I were having a fine time turning her into a blond, brunette, and redhead when the owner decided we needed help.

My friend had a bald head, a large, fresh scar and slow speech so it didn't take a genius to see that she was recuperating from something major. This owner was so sweet to my friend and kept telling her over and over about a brother who had had the same surgery, recovered beautifully, could do everything he'd been able to do before, etc...... It was really cheering my friend up and then..... And then the owner said, "Yep, he did great for a three months and then -- wham, bam -- he just fell over deader 'n a doornail. Never did figure out what happened."

The only silver lining was that my friend missed what was said. As she was asking the owner to repeat her comment, I "gently" grabbed the owner's arm, moved her out of hearing, and suggested rather strongly that she NOT repeat her "punch line."

Of course I had to share that story after my friend recovered and we still get a laugh out of that idiot woman's brand of empathy all these years later. :santa1:

  I am trying really hard to imagine a holiday wreath made out of dentures:lol: That was a very funny poem, Victoria. Gave me my "chuckle fix" for the day:)

Here's another one relating to the , umm, frailties of getting older!

My forgetter's getting better,
But my rememberer is broke.
To you that may seem funny
But, to me, that is no joke!

For when I'm "here" I'm wondering
If I really should be "there"
And. when I try to think it through,
I haven't got a prayer!

Oft times I walk into a room,
Say "what am I here for"?
I wrack my brain, but all in vain!
A zero is my score.

At times I put a thing away
Where it is safe, but, gee!
The person it is safest from
Just happens to be me!

When shopping I may see someone,
Say "hi" and have a chat.
Then, when the person walks away
I ask myself "who's that?"

Yes, my forgetter's getting better
While my rememberer is broke
And it's driving me plumb crazy
And that isn't any joke.

CAN ANY OF YOU RELATE TO THIS?

This may already have appeared in our Granny's thread, I can't remember:D

On a more serious note, here is a Christmas Blessing for you all.
Bless You At This Season

May Jesus our Savoir,
who was born on Christmas Day,
Bless you at this Season,

May the beauty and the promise,
of that silent, holy night,
Fill your heart with peace and happiness,
and make your new year bright.

Cathiemarie, what a horrible thing to have happen, my heart goes out to you, your daughter and her son. I hope that so called husband does get prison time and lots of it. That is terrible. Please remember our thoughts are with you at this time and we will keep you in our prayers. Some how I missed this post about this happening, my daughter was here for two and a half days and I was not on the thread during her visit. Abuse is not a good thing and no one should have to go through that.
Victoria thanks so much for letting us know about Cathiemarie and her family. I am so glad that they are with you right now. Christmas time is difficult when you are having problems.

Kay I was shocked to read that your friends and acquaintances made the remark they did about your hair and wig. I think you could keep in the back of your mind that if it truly was not a joke some one was making to keep this in mind as a response.... " Oh thank you for the compliment about my wig, I hope you get the opportunity to get one some day too"! Sounds rather cruel of me to say that but people have no sense at time. It is hard enough to have to go through all you are with out some peoples dumb comments.

Now what is this about a chat? I didn't know a chat was going on last night... is there going to be another one? I hope so I would love to be able to come to it.

You all continue to be in my prayers. I love you all and feel like you are my sisters...my blood is really boiling at the sadness that is befalling so many. Need to do some deep breathing right now. LOL I really do mean that.

I will update you about my hubby at a later time. He is holding his own, but I do not see much improvement. Kidney Dr. did give us some hope yesterday.
Have a nice day today and oh yes, I saw this in the DMV when I went to get my tags yesterday for my cars. I want to add it to my signature line.

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows!

Remember ladies......The sun will come up tomorrow. Love to you all.

Note to Karen, full time RVr......Oh so glad to hear you are about through with your Christmas tree job. Sounds like it has been very tireing. we have missed you and look forward to you being back with us and getting to see more even of your husband. Even working together if it is so busy with the trees, you would miss him. Can't wait to see your postings again on this site and on the galleries...I have missed you.

Wow.....only four days left until Christmas...can you believe it! I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be - I just want this Christmas to be very special for my sons. I was surprised to come home last evening to find my oldest son had made it home two days earlier than expected which made me so happy. And as blessed as I feel to have him home and not in Iraq for the first time in three Christmases, my heart also goes out to all the other families who have loved ones deployed so far from home. I actually came across a layout that was so touching to me:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=151857&cat=500&ppuser=73988

The lady who posted this layout has a son who is now spending his second Christmas in Iraq. He deployed in October just one day before she lost her mother. I know first hand how it feels to worry every second of every day if you will ever see your son again. I know how it feels to turn on the news and hear that another troop was killed and wonder if it was your son - every day for 365 days or longer.

This thread is filled with caring and loving thoughts for so many deserving a little extra kindness in their lives. It is so amazing to me to read these posts and so comforting to know just how many good people there are in this crazy world we all call home. I thought maybe some of you might want to send a bit of that caring to the mother who posted this layout. She will undoubtedly spend her Christmas day wondering about her son in Iraq...if he is safe, if he is warm, will he get a dinner, and will he get to call me today.

Yhalos, I truly hope that you will soon feel better to enjoy Christmas......Carma, I hope the doctor does give you promising news for your husband.....and Kay, I'm sure glad the person who made the remark about your wig wasn't being seriously rude.

Have a wonderful day dear ladies!

Aww Kasha ..what a heartfelt message to all of us . I can't even start to wrap my brain around how I would feel if one of my loved ones was in that situation . I don't think I could think of anything worse ..especially at this time of the year when so many families manage to be together .Thank-you for reminding us to count our blessings . Great to see you on top of things Carma ..I obviously sent the wrong message about my wig and loved that you are so indignant on my behalf !! Everyone that knows it's a wig LOVE it ..they jokingly meant my own hair was quite fly away and often mussed up ..but now it always looks lovely and shiny and groomed !! Yhalos ..PLEASE be better for Christmas ..I hate that you are being so nailed by the chemo ..how much more do you have to go thru' ??Jill ..that poem was hysterical ..I printed it for DH and we both agreed it was compiled just for us ! That is totally the story of our lives !! Thank-you Vic for the lovely message ..bless you ! LOL Laura re the ticket reservations ..been there , done that !! Except my poor son was at the airport checking in only to be told his flight was booked for the next month !!! I wasn't very popular ...
Okay ..I'm off to wrap some prezzies up ..you'll all be happy to know I have a lovely little tree sparkling away in my tiny lounge..and at LAST am beginning to feel the spirit of things . Family is starting to arrive from tomorrow so will be busy busy from now on !! Biggest hugs to all XXX

Forgot to add this REALLY useful tip !!
What I Have Learned:
Did you know that you don't have to have all your awesome fonts installed in your font folder? Just find your font on your favorite font cd or in another folder where you have saved it. Now open it up and minimize it. Then open up a new page in your graphics program and Wah Lah! The font shows up in the font drop down list!

Carma the chat that was mentioned was Our Hertiage chat. It is on Wednesday's at 10pm DPS time. (8pm our time) There is usually a lot of our RGers there. We had another sweep last night of grannies winning!! Laura Lou's The Christmas Shoes (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=150674&cat=847) and my Christmas 1956 (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=152256&cat=847) won!! It is always a fun chat.
Merly had to run to a meeting so we did not come up with a theme for next two weeks so watch the forum Meryl's Heritage Forum Page (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2748&highlight=meryl) for more information. She mentioned in the chat that she is really busy with Christmas stuff so it may be next week before we hear from her!

Had already left a short post, kasha. The little one in that image just breaks my heart.

I'm glad to hear your son is home -- no matter how old they are, it does feel good to have them all back in the fold for a short time. Hope your younger son's knee is healing well -- what crummy luck! By the time this knee wears out, there's no telling what wonderful advances will have been made, though.

Merry Christmas with your guys. ;)

Welcome to the newest of "our" grandbabies. We all claim grandma bragging rights, don't you know. She is a little doll and, as her grandma said, perfect. I have NO idea how you found time and energy to do the layout, but there is a kind of adrenolin rush, I remember. That all night stuff does come to roost a day or two later. I hope you get to enjoy the holidays.

I have to brag just a little. As I mentioned, we had a family bout with the flu, here, with at least 6 of the 12 at our family party last Saturday, coming down with it. My son, who escaped, was here Tuesday, trash day, and helped me cart out the food which had spoiled in my car since Sunday night when I was put out of commission. Yesterday he called to say that what he had wanted to get me for Christmas hadn't panned out. Instead he was having the Christmas Eve party at my house catered and I could take it easy.
What a son!!!

Good morning girls! Lots going on here and I'm behind again. I was so upset by Cathiemarie's post from Victoria that I shut down the thread and didn't finish reading. I know she feels our love and outrage. We'll just keep passing her more: (((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))).

We need to see LO's with the new hair do's.... I love these new wigs, they look so real sometimes it's hard to tell it is a wig.. Kay, maybe that's what the rude dudes meant?? That you looked smashing regardless??? How strange is this: I've often thought about shaving my hair and getting wigs so I could have different color and styles when ever I wanted, go figure. Well, hugs for the meltdown, you'll both be that much stronger together for it. Yhalos I must see the blond one :yahoo: , how fun your able to let your DH choose who you'll be that day. I had been wondering if you had gotten to the wig stage yet, you seemed to hang back with mentioning your treatment and what's going on before. I hope you get a little comfort sharing with us. It amazes me how you girls always find positive fun things in major situations.

OMG, OMI of 5, that story was scary, considering how many people actually do that and don't get stopped b4 someone catches it like you did. so glad you all can laugh over it now.

Congrats Kim !!! Welcome Beautiful Ellie !!!

Well, everytime I think I'm done with this post, I hit refresh on the thread.. this is the third time today I've sat down to type, get up to do something and completley forget to finish it. Could be I'll get it done this time around.

Congrats to the heritage winners, love the layouts, got me to looking for my older Christmas picts, found a couple, in black & white, grainy, and hard to make out most details but I think I'll do a LO anyways, my childhood living room doesn't look like the same place compared to the room now.

Thanks for the funnies ladies, do enjoy them. Also the Blessing by Helen Rice hit home.

Kay, glad to hear you got your Christmas spirit moving along, thought I was the last one left... my DGS goosed me into getting the decorating done the other day by helping me do it. We are lit up and sparkleing now! :yahoo:  and I do feel better about it.

Yh... (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGE HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) hoping your treatments are less uncomfortable, rest as much as you can... without guilt.... and copy that Helen Rice poem Victoria shared right near you to help you through.

Sending special Christmas Blessing to all those in need.

Merry Christmas to all.

I hope that those of you suffering pain, illness or stress can experience a day of peace from your pain, enough to be able to really enjoy this special time of year.

I am thankful to be part of this very special group of people, who share their laughter and woes, their thoughts and sympathies, generously giving cyber support to others even when they are in crisis themselves.

Thank you, all of you, for all the laughter, leaks, listening, and love. You are all very very special to me.

Man I miss you all to pieces…. Read through a few pages…. Only had to use a “mere” box of tissue for the many leaks you all caused me..

First off I would like to say prison is not enough for a man like your daughter’s husband CathieMarie “Castration” is more appropriate…. Healing prayers and hugs being gently sent your way.

Kay and Yhalos you are our beautiful RGC smooth headed angels. Healing prayers and hugs warmly sent your way.

Precious caring, loving , Carma and your beloved Dick…..Healing prayers , hugs and sunnier days sent your way….

Kash and all the other families of our brave men in the armed forces…… Prayers of safe keeping being sent your way….

Prayers for rainy days to Australia. Jill darlin between your cleavage comment and that too funny to forget poem I almost had to use some tissue … well you know where…. I especially had to cross my legs while reading the line about entering a room and not remembering why I was there… I so can relate to that one in particular . My oldest granddaughter just thinks I am hilarious when I say I can’t remember why I came in here… “It’s cause you are getting old Grammy” How rude! Who teaches these kids this stuff… LOL…

Who have I forgotten, Dag, Ineke, Donut, Roadie, Ang, Lizzanne, Jaedee, Laura, Omiof5, Meryl, our special lurker Debb, Lindy, Victoria, FullTimer, Greenfingers, Avril, Tap, Freda, Gail, Whisper Pink, Robbie R and all you who occasionally stop by and say hi, special holiday prayers to you all. I so agree with Jill (EG100) I feel so blessed to be a part of and a witness to all the amazing and wonderful things that happen in this thread . Sometime as I am watching the news I find myself so saddened by the awful things humans do to each other. This thread reminds me of all the wonderful things we do as well .. Gods blessings all !

P..S. Thank you all so much for welcoming our little Ellie and all your terrific comments on my LO of her… They are all so precious aren’t they….

Good morning to all of my cyberfriends! God bless each of you in a special way today. May you have the energy and the strength you need to accomplish your tasks today, and may your day be free of pain and suffering (Kay & Yhalos). Today I'm printing my heritage LO's to put into albums for each of my children for Christmas gifts. I wrapped the gifts we had boughten yesterday, and we had a birthday lunch with my husband's youngest brother yesterday.
Today is my older brother's birthday.
Have a great day everybody, and Merry Christmas to you all. Hugs and prayers comming your way.

I got this in an email today. I am sure most of you know Maxine. This was sent as a Maxine poem for this time of year.
Marianne

Merry Christmas To My Female Friends

If I were ol' Santa, you know what I'd do
I'd dump silly gifts that are given to you
And deliver some things just inside your front door
Things you have lost, but treasured before.

I'd give you back all your maidenly vigor,
And to go along with it, a neat tiny figure.
Then restore the old color that once graced your hair
Before rinses and bleaches took residence there.

I'd bring back the shape with which you were gifted
So things now suspended need not be uplifted.
I'd draw in your tummy and smooth down your back
Till you'd be a dream in those tight fitting slacks.

I'd remove all your wrinkles and leave only one chin
So you wouldn't spend hours rubbing grease on your skin
You'd never have flashes or queer dizzy spells
And you wouldn't hear noises like ringing of bells.

No sore aching feet and no corns on your toes
No searching for spectacles when they're right on your nose.
Not a shot would you take in your arm, hip or fanny
From a doctor who thinks you're a nervous old granny.

You'd never have a headache, so no pills would you take.
And no heating pad needed since your muscles won't ache.
Yes, if I were Santa, you'd never look stupid
You'd be a cute little chick with the romance of a cupid.

I'd give a lift to your heart when those wolves start to whistle
And the joys of your heart would be light as a thistle.
But alas! I'm not Santa.I'm simply just me
The matronest of matrons you ever did see.

I wish I could tell you all the symptoms I've got
But I'm due at my doctor's for an estrogen shot.
Even though we've grown older this wish is sincere
Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New Year.

A friend loveth at all times.

Hello sweet ladies...just wanted to stop by and wish you all a Very Merry Christmas . When I stumbled on DSP I had no idea that this thread especially would change the way I feel about my life. It's so strange how God works.
I couldn't paint because the pain and fatigue were just to overwhelming for me so I decided to try something a little less daunting. Well, little did I know that I would find all of my guardian angels in one place...RCG'ers Thread.
Kay's poem just sent me to leaky land. Ever since then I have felt nothing but blessed by all of you. Your support, your encouragement, your prayers have been the biggest blessing for me. So, my wish and my prayer for all of you is that you all have health, peace, happiness and love. You are my angels and I am humbly grateful to all of you...you will never know what you have done for me.....Merry Christmas to all of you and many, many, blessings....love you all.....  :santa:

I feel exactly the same as you about all these awesome amazing wonderful and yet all so very different souls that are such an integral part of this leaky red thread bound tight knit little world that belongs just to us !! How blessed and lucky I am ..the support and love that came hurtling thru cyberspace when I had my op for both Howard and I was absolutely overwhelming ..I really did physically feel it !!!! You have all had such a positive impact on my life and all that is left to say is BLESS YOU ALL !! Have a wonderful Christmas day and may the New Year be filled with love and laughter ! Merry Christmas to all of you wonderful ladies, How very blessed I am to have friends all around the world like you. Yalos and Kay my special thanks to you for the faith you show and the grace you are going through your trials. My prayers are with you. To the rest of you the list is so long, I don't want to leave anyone out....know that you have made a difference in my life. I know that I can get through all that is sent my way because of you and your faith in each other.

I am ready to get the rest of my Christmas gifts wrapped and ready for Christmas morning. However, I am thinking that we should change our minds and open our gifts on Christmas Eve.....the reason being that the late afternoons and evenings are the best for Dick...it is 3:45 p.m. and he isn't up today yet...Yesterday wore him out. We went to the Surgeons office and will have to go back again on Wed. Then he had his physical therapist in and that wore him out double. I have taken food into him and he has eaten a bit. I have made a special dish called Italian Chicken for dinner and am hopeing that he will get up to eat it this evening. We shall see. I am worried about him, he seems to be getting more tired as the days pass. Heart Dr. said he is doing good as did the kidney Dr. but he just hurts so bad in his back and his energy isn't what he needs to get around. We will have a very quiet Christmas. One daughter and two of her kids came the first part of the week and we had a wonderful visit then they left and went to her Son's graduation from College...we missed it but she sent lots of pictures. She will have all her kids home for Christmas and I am so happy for her. Life sure does change as we get older. I realize that I am now almost to the stage as my parents. Living for visits from each one of the kids and grand kids. We are a long ways from all of them. Did possibly a stupid thing in moving away to a warmer climate and leaving them behind 27 months ago. But you can't live in the past. I love it here except for not having the family closer. If and when Dick can travel again we will be going up to see them all again. It is beautiful here today but a bit cooler, I didn't even wear a sweater when I went to the grocery store. Fritz is growing bigger and so healthy isn't that wonderful? He brings me a lot of joy and company.

You all have a wonderful Christmas and I plan on popping in as often as possible. Love to all...

Boy have I missed all of you!! I'll never catch up ...and it looks like what I can possible catch up with will have to wait yet a couple of more days.
A new grandbaby added to the group! Oh what fun they are and how they fill up a heart you think is already full!
YH...and Kay ....how can we possibly know what your going through except to know how it is if we lived it through a parent or close relative. Keep fighting ladies.....it's a womans best strength.
CathyMarie.....our children get thier strength from us....and of course God.
But my heart goes out to you also because we also feel the pain of our children also. We can only give what care and love they will take, but I always pray they will take whats needed to keep them close and safe.
Everyone else...I know there are things we all need the support of this thread from and we are lucky to have it. I know I am so thankful knowing your all going to be here after the holidays when things slow down!!
We've had lots going on....a Christmas celebration with out of town family here till a couple of days ago. And just when you think it'll slow down before the big day...NOT!
Just a quick pop in for me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and some wonderful time with your families.
A special thanks to Kay for starting this and sucking us all in!!!
Hugs all !!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

This has always been an extremely low-energy time of year for me, Carma, and I suspect Dick is feeling that melancholy, especially since he's in pain and feeling his age.

I look forward to January and its new beginning, when I invariably get a fresh surge of mental and physical energy. I'll bet you start seeing improvement in Dick when the new year arrives and when this year, which has been so very difficult for you both, is over. Just hang in there, kiddo. :)

So many of you have already said so eloquently how much this group means to each of us, but I have to add my voice to the chorus. First thing in the mornings and sometimes late at night I just have to check to see how your lives are.

My life is so blessed with good health and relative good health of my Old Dear. Seeing old friends at two big parties yesterday was great, but it is the day-to-day lives of all of you that I feel I share now. There will be a place at my holiday table tomorrow night for each of you and in my heart the rest of this year and next.

There is no doubt that my life is richer for each one of you who post, whether it is daily or just a quick pop-in. I look forward eagerly to the new year and with hope for the answers to prayers for so many of you.

I will try to post between the holidays, but will be on the road for 2 days. Possibly the next message from me will be posted from sunny Florida.

Merry Christmas Everybody. Hope your day is wonderful and that you don't overdo any of it. The turkey is in the oven, the tarts are baked, so I had a minute to just pop in and wish you all a blessed Christmas. You are all a wonderful group, and my life is richer because you are a part of it. Will take lots of photos and hope to see all of you psoting again in a few days. Prayers and hugs comming your way. God Bless.

Well, LauraLoub, first my thanks for telling me about this group!! Be careful on the road and *don't* tell some of us about the sunshine. It's not bad but Chicago is not on the sunshine trail. HA!

Cathie, my heart goes out to you. There is little that hurts as much as a hurting child. My mom used to say " We worry about our children from the time they open their eyes till we close ours." Ain't it the truth.... May DD find real happiness in the years to come and protect her child from that awful man. One of my DDs is going through a divorce now and the pain of the emotional cruelty is awful and this is after 10 years and 3 repeats of cancer. She is stage 4 but doing quite well till this emotional upheavel and stress hit the scene. He has stopped all funds, and is poisoning the 3 kids. At least DGS does not understand the horror of it all.

To the wig-wearing grandmas, May the year bring remission and better times. I remember with above mentioned DD that her hair game in VERY curly so you may be looking forward to what we called chemo curls. As an 11 year survivor so far I can only tell you that the sun will come up again... maybe not right away... but it will.

May the coming year bring health and happiness to my granma-friends and their families.

I am sorry that I am a little late with my Christmas wishes for all you lovely ladies, but I hope that you all had a wonderful day spent with those you love:hug:

For Christmas this year we had lunch at a beautiful winery, the building was built back in 1863 of bluestone and the atmosphere was really nice, even nicer was the fact that none of us had to cook, nor did we have to clean up afterwards, I thoroughly recommend it as a Christmas day alternative. I think we might be booking again for next year!!:santa: :santa:

I also want to thank you ladies for being so supportive and caring, we all seem to have our personal trials in life and it is good to be able to share them with people that care:hug:

ps. I meant to tell you also that we have had the weirdest weather in Victoria!
up to a few days ago we have had the hottest weather with bush fires raging out of control, then a complete turn around and Christmas was recorded as being the coldest on record with snow in the hills - first time we have had a white Christmas:santa1: :santa1: Had to drag out the winter woolies yesterday for our christmas lunch, so much for the summer frocks we were going to wear:santa1: :santa1:

Anyone need any leftovers, :santa1: I have got turkey, ham, pork, and roast spuds, and half a pudding (with coins) still to eat.....not to mention the mince tarts and shortbreads....why did I bake so much? it is the same every year, when will I learn?

I think all the Christians must have gone to church Christmas:santa: eve and prayed for rain to help the weary fire fighters with the bush fires that have been burning for 3 weeks....well I will never doubt the power of prayer again as Santa brought us a bucket load on Christmas day, along with snow and hail in the hills, and some spare rain to fill up some of the water tanks as well, BUT did he have to make it soooooo cold!!!!!!!!

It is now boxing day and I am having to wear long pants (with elastic waist) and my winter moccians to keep my tooties warm.....not to sure if I should put on the heater or turn on the air conditioner....stupid stupid weather....

Santa come to us Aussie gals first so we can get all the best pressies:tup: .....I am now off to the Boxing Days Sales to grab more presents for next year.....

It's good to hear that you are getting some relief with the horrible weather you've been having. One of my son's friends from Australia has been emailing about the terrible conditions there. He will be flying out tomorrow to spend two weeks with us and we're all looking forward to having him as our guest.
In the meantime, I have a house full of both sons friends playing guitars at ear piercing levels.....doesn't anyone stay home with their families on Christmas anymore??? I really do enjoy having the house full again and literally, it's music to my ears. Now, if my windows survive the amps, I'll be happy.
Since going to bed isn't an option, I finished up a layout and posted it. I'm sure it has something to do with my inability to focus this evening, but I just don't think it is quite right. With all the talent in this group, maybe someone could give a suggestion how to finish it up better.

I really have to check out this Boxing Day holiday more thoroughly.....I think we in the U.S. are missing out big time! And, it is coming up on an election year....hmmm.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends yesterday.
Lovely LO Kash, have left comments. Also a suggestion, if you really don't like the background color, change to B&W or focal color. Glad to hear that your son is home safely with you, an answer to prayer.
Also glad to hear that you Aussie gals had your prayers answered and got some relief from the terrible heat and the bush fires. Your Christmas lunch sounded wonderful Ineke.
Yes Dags, we have too many leftovers as well. We need to have another dinner today to get some of them eaten.
My DS gave me a portable 120 g storage drive for Christmas. I was so surprised and thrilled to receive it. Now I have a place to store and organise all of my didi scrapping kits and completed LO's. I was buring tons of CD's and DVD's and always alooking for the right disk. Wonderful, thoughtful son.
The gift digi albums (8 total) I gave to the children/grandchildren were very much appreciated and oohed and ahhed over.
My 14 year old grand daughter gave me a hand quilted throw pillow she had made for me...her first quilting project. She was so proud of it, and I just love it. I'm so proud of her too for making it, and giving it to me.
We had such a wonderful day yesterday with our children/grandchildren home, but this grandma was too pooped by the time they all left to even check in at DSP last evening.
Have a great day everybody.

Just a quick check-in. The truck is loaded...COMPLETELY since it isn't cold enough to harm anything out there. I have ONE little bag to take out in the morning with my MP3 player and docking station, which I need to get to sleep tonight.

We will be on the road at 5 or 6 AM depending on how much sleep the Old Dear gets tonight. He has to drive; I just have to fall out of bed and into the front seat and go back to sleep. Now that he has his fancy GPS that tells him what to do I am retired from that job. We will be in Atlanta in 11 hours and off for dinner at my niece's house.

Thursday we just have another 8-9 hours left and be "home" for the next few months.

Food! Dagwood's list sounded familiar. My son brought a BIG ham and 5 side dishes and dessert from Honey Baked Ham, but we still had some things I made...cheesy potatoes, green-bean casserole, Jell-o salad and a lot of desserts we got for Christmas. We are taking a few things with us to eat on the road, but we don't usually eat much. I just had to distribute all the left-overs between my son and daughter. The Old Dear had Christmas Day breakfast and his left-overs went to his son. It is nice to have them close enough to keep an eye on our houses.

Dr Granma, I have that Faith Club book to read while on the road and a light mystery (a Chocolate House mystery set in Michigan). I will probably finish them both while listening to my music player since my "Driver" insists on talk radio all the way and I can't take that much vitreol.

I should be able to check in from the motel, or from our "snowbirdhouse" Thursday or Friday.

Enjoy the days off, and the visiting family.

We had a very quiet Christmas, hubby didn't get up until about 2 p.m. and slept off and on for the rest of the evening. Lots of pain. Dr. appointment tomorrow but don't expect to really hear much from the appointment. Will let you know if any news. Got to talk to all our girls and familes on the phone. Thanks heavens for phones right? Was a nice day none the less.

My very beat wishes to all of you at this festive time, I think so much of those of you who are not well, those with family with problems, you are all in prayer.

My dear Dad (Doug) of 86 is right now back in a high care ward – please put him back on the prayer list....

As I had said before - he had what they thought may have been a mild stroke about 10 days ago, an MRI scan revealed no stroke, put down to very bad deterioration of the spine. He has been back in his little apartment (he lives alone, he nursed my Mum until she passed away some years back) with additional help, and we family have taken in turns to do “shifts”.

My brother took him to Mass on Christmas morning and brought him to us for Christmas Day (we are about 1 hour drive away) – had a lovely, lovely day. Yesterday, 26th, Ray and I went up to be with him for the day, and about ½ hour after we arrived, he had a major collapse – whilst waiting for my nursing sister, s-i-l to arrive there were a number of time we thought he had in fact gone. S-i-l got the ambulance, who stabilized him, and now as I say, is in high care ward, they will do another MRI scan today, but to us it certainly looks like a stroke this time, left side is very affected.

All I can pray for now is what God feels is best for him - he is so against going to any “Home” and yet we can see the likelihood is that should he “recover” he will not be able to live in his little home, even with carers. And of course, dreadful problem, where will accept / have space for him?

My heart aches and breaks for him – please remember us all.

And one thought that haunts me – being hostess, so “busy” with food etc did not take ONE photo with him in at Christmas,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Meryl, I'm so sorry. Re the photo, though, please don't feel guilty. Sometimes we need to live in the moment instead of photographing it. If I were your dad, I would rather that my children had the memory of a happy day with me than a photo. Bet he'll tell you the same thing when he can.

Just a quick pop in to say hi and hope everyone had a great Christmas day. My gds will be on my computer while he is here for two weeks but I am so happy to have them home that I will manage. Meryl I want to say how sorry I am to here about your dad and I will add him to my prayers. The Good Lord has been getting a long list from me and many others here and I know he answers them. My twin is proof of that with all the major problems she has had. I don`t want to miss anyone so will just say God Bless all and everyone of you who is in special need of prayers at this time. I will try and pop in again. Cyber hugs to all my dear grans here.

Meryl, I am so sorry about your Dad, what a stressful and anxious time for you, but how wonderful that you had a lovely Christmas day with him, perhaps he was holding onto his strength to share that special time with his family, and the photos you didn't take are in your mind forever anyway! I hope that whatever is the best outcome for all of you will eventuate. And in the midst of your anxiety, you took the time to comment on one of my layouts!! Thank you, you are a very special person!

Our Christmas was lovely, it rained!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not enough to make an impact on our drastic water storage levels but wonderful all the same, I cannot recall a wet Christmas for many many years! The grandkids all enjoyed their day and their gifts and we had a lovely evening meal with extended family here at our place. Our Melbourne family phoned to wish us Merry Christmas, they'd had a big hail storm and were experiencing a "White Christmas" with backed up hail!, and the boys told us what Santa had brought them, then Bennie sang Rudolph the Red nose reindeer over and over again:D (his Dad said he couldn't find his "off" switch so we would just have to wait until his battery ran down!! But it was beautiful and I hope they get it on video tape. We ate too much and I am still doing so, after all, we can't let the leftovers go to waist oops I mean waste!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and that each of you and your loved ones have a safe and happy New Year and that year 2007 will be filled with a maximum of digi scrapping and a minimum of trials and troubles!!

I've been having more than my share of trials and troubles lately with PSP XI. I recently installed a patch that was supposed to fix some of the problems with the latest release of v. XI. Instead it has created a multitude of new problems for me that make using PSP a royal pain. I was wondering if any of you use/have used both PSP and CS2? I was able to purchase CS2 a few months ago through the university as a student for only $20. I know how much this product retails for, so thought I shouldn't pass up this great opportunity. I've played around a bit with CS2 and noticed some similarities with PSP, but understandably with have to go through all the learning curves again. I get upset with the software companies who use the consumer as their guinea pigs to test the products, which is what I feel Corel has done with their newest release. I've emailed them about the problems created by the patch, which to date have remained unanswered. I'm thinking I should just bite the bullet and learn CS2 which to my knowledge doesn't have the issues that PSP seems to have.

Meryl, my heart goes out to you and will keep your family in my prayers. My father passed away on Christmas Day last year very unexpectedly, and like you, I didn't take the time to take any photos of him. I also was so caught up in the moment of the day being preoccupied with my son who was deployed. But I had so many wonderful photos of him and like Omi said, the precious memories are so much better. I was just happy that I had chosen to make the 10 hour drive to spend Christmas day with my family last year, never imagining that it would be my last with my father.

Victoria, I have been playing with your suggestion for my layout "Christmas Blessing" and think you may have been on to something there! I'll post it if turns out.......thanks so much for the suggestion!

Have a wonderful day ladies!

So sorry to hear your news Meryl. It's all the harder coming after good test results the first time around. About having no time to take a photo- well I would guess that your Dad was feeling really proud of you watching you in full flight as the hostess:)

Carma- still remembering to pray for you both, such a difficult situation for you.

LauraL hope your long journey is going /has gone well. Were those frogs there waiting for you? Never thought of Sat Nav freeing up the non driver for a cosy read- now there is a thought for next year's present.

Whatever is happening in Australia? We heard about the snow.

We are having an extended Christmas season as DD is home for a while yet and we are expecting various visitors. I don't think we will be back to normal routine 'till mid Jan.
Love to you all.

Good Day my cyber friends!
Meryl, I am so sorry to hear of you father's illness--will keep him in my prayers and thoughts. If not taking a photo of him on Christmas Day is your only regret, you have been a good daughter!

Meryl's Heritage will be fun for the next two weeks. I have copied her quote from her forum:

"I was not there for deciding on a topic, I see Laura mentioned that there was a suggestion to continue with Christmas Past - can I suggest that we make it very recent Heritage? I would love to see how you celebrated Christmas 2006! Yes, get snapping and post a page or two of THIS years Christmas, you have until 3rd January"
Hope to see lots of our entries from our group!

I hope those in pain both physically and mentally are doing better this day!

Love JaeDee

Quick pop in here.

Meryl -- My prayers are with you and your dad and your family.

Carma & Kay & YH and several others -- Hugs & prayers to you too. While we all may run out of space (or memory!) to list all the needs, fortunately God's mighty provision is big enough to cover it all. That's a good thing.

Happy trails, LL. Looking forward to hearing from you in sunny Florida!

So glad to hear that you down-under-ers received the gift of rain. I'll have to get back into the news to stay up on this. My nose has been buried in Christmas planning and enjoyment such that I have really lost track of global events.

But as I did turn on the news today, we in the US are learning that one of our past presidents passed away yesterday. President Gerald Ford lived an ethical, long life and I'm sure we'll see a lot of shows and specials in honor of him in the next few days.

Christmas in Iowa here was the wonderful stuff of tradition and of newness. Christmas Eve at church (even though it was in the AM -- that was a little different but freed up the day). The grandkids (and kids at heart) enjoying their gifts! Fabulous treats, including my Mom's 'snow-on-the-mountain' dessert which is a pound cake and a bunch of fruit and nuts all crumbled up and mixed up into a pile (hence the 'mountain') and then whipped cream and coconut cover it (hence the 'snow'). Yummy!!

I'm anxious to get going again on some LOs. Had to set that aside for the last several weeks. I don't know how quickly I'll get one posted but it will be nice to capture the memories on paper again.

Question: Is there a Heritage Chat tonight?

When I was a kid, the best compliment given to a man was to call him "decent." In this world, we seem to have fewer and fewer decent men.

Gerald Ford lived 93 years, gave up an offer to play pro football to go to law school, served his country in WWII, married the love of his life, and spent most of his adulthood in politics. He gave Richard Nixon a full pardon, which cost him any chance of being reelected as President because "it was the right thing to do for the country."

At the end of the day, even those who disagreed with his politics mourn the passing of a good, ethical, and decent man. How inspirational to see a life so well lived.

Hello dear friends! I've finally had a few moments to catch up on the last couple of pages.
Meryl....so sad to hear you dad isn't doing so good. As hard as it is for you to say it is in Gods hands....it is still very hard our hearts. Sending lots of hugs and thoughts your way. It hasn't been that long since my father passed away and it all happened within a few weeks. No matter how much we know its' the right time....its never the right time. And past pictures will come to light and we'll all get to see a LO with him soon i'm sure!
Carma....i hope Dick gets on his feet for you soon. A quiet Christmas is a blessing too as long as he's with you. Bet Fritz was spoiled on Christmas day too eh? My girlfriend had a little Yorkie and she couldn't leave any presents under the tree as long as the dog was out.....he tore them all apart everytime. They spoiled him by giving him presents too ...so once he was able to open one....he figured it was a free for all every time there was a present anywhere in the house....it was kinda funny. Instead of hiding the presents from her kids...she hid them from the dog!
I hope everyone enjoyed Christmas. Here is was very crowded...but less than in previous years. Did someone mention leftovers??? I sent mine home with everyone with good thoughts i'm on a diet!...hmmmph. We'll see. I even dumped out all the leftover goodies that didn't go home with others. Garbage day was the day after so right out the door it went after the guests did. i'd have eaten them if they didn't!!!
On Christmas Day we do the pickle ornament. You hide the pickle and then the first one to find it gets an extra gift. It's always been played in groups by age. The older ones first....then the little ones. The older ones get a little smaller pickle. I think this will be my inspiration LO for the end of 2006. You all know how many I get in....LOL.
My New Years resolution should be to try and get one LO done a month...maybe i'll get more in that way???? I'm also going to try and be a more supportive RGC'r! (shhh...i said that one in a whisper!).
Hugs all !!

Wanted to mention also about our past Presedent. Can you image what a life it must have been for him. What he lived through and lived to talk about it. There will be many more "firsts" for many people ....but everything is expected now. Back then ...who knew when you were born in the days of horse and buggy....you would be traveling into space before you died?? And to have served so proudly in so many ways to America!

Hello ladies,
Hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas. We had a very busy Christmas Day and it rained instead of snowing, warmest Christmas in ages. As usual I spent Fri & Sat b4 Christmas finishing hand painted gifts, wondering if I'd get them done and I did! Been a couple of years since I did decorative painting and I really enjoyed it even if my back did not, LOL. Taking if easy now for a few days, I did a crash and burn for 2 days after Christmas, slept round the clock Tues, chronic fatigue just pounced right on top of me.

Hugs and prayers to you and yours Meryl, YH, Kay, and Carma. Hope the New Year will bring relief to everyone in need. Off to look at the galleries, it's been 5 days since I was able to get to this thread... way behind :santa1:

Lizz, Are you referring to Quick Clicks? or the quick reply option on the thread? If it is the Quick Clicks, I'm with you there:) They seem to slow my programme's response time down to snail pace. Hope to see some of your NY resolution layouts in the gallery soon:) The challenges are what focus me to get LOs done, a deadline works for me big time (but I would prefer a two week turnaround, rather than one:()! I especially like to do those where you don;t need to use a specific kit or those where I really like the targeted kit and can see that I will use it more than once. (Have to keep a check on the budget and can't run off to the store to buy a kit just to do a specific challenge)

Carma  , keep us posted on the latest information, I do hope it is not deeply serious, you both deserve some good news for a change. I was so pleased for you that your hubby was home for Christmas.

Omi, how long has that avatar been there??? It is SO cool!!! I'll check out that link shortly!

Lindy, hope your crash and burn has crashed and burnt itself out by now (my loungeroom is still awaiting your attention:D)

Victoria's digi albums were very popular judgin by the attention they were getting as evidenced in her latest layout. Nice one, V  !

We saw on the TV news about the passing of past President Ford, a sad day. He lived for a great number of years and I liked Lizz's comment about going from horse and buggy to space travel in one lifetime!

Now Donut!!! We need to hear more from you!!! You have NOT completed your Granny training yet, we have loads more to teach you:D

My hubby is 65 today!! He is now officially an old age pensioner:D I wonder what it will be like to live with an old age pensioner:think: ?

I hope all of you other RGCers are well and happy, have recovered from Christmas over indulgences and are ready to confront the imminent New Year.

Have a great day everyone!

A couple of you had already seen it judging from the comments, but thought I would post a link here because some of our beautiful people are experiencing similar issues! It is such a positive confrontation of a life shattering experience and I am in awe that she was able to so beautifully and positively express her thoughts in this way. Please also read all of the uplifting and supportive comments (4 pages:)) I hope it touches a cord with those of you going through this same treatment!

I just finished and posted my LO for the MCDT challenge by Lisa Carter. I just love the kit - Story About Us. I'm with you Evergreen, a challenge gets me motivated to get the LO done, but I too need to limit the number that I commit to do, and I do need to like the kit as well. There is just so much going on at DSP, that it's hard to keep up. Here is the link to my MCDT LO:

Evergreen your comment about your hubby turning 65 made me laugh - my hubby is now 66 and more energetic than ever LOL. It's tiring being married to an old age pensioner. Happy New Year to all the RGCers

Don't know anything about this site, but you can print details about a person's birthdate. Looks pretty neat: http://dmarie.com/timecap/.

Omi, your new avitar is a scream, , love it!
Thanks for the link to the time capsule site too, I've been collecting things for a LO for my sister and this is exactly what I was looking for. Might be neat to do the bday in 5 year leaps to see how much things change.

Take Care, thanks again.

Lizz, Are you referring to Quick Clicks? or the quick reply option on the thread? If it is the Quick Clicks, I'm with you there:) Omi, how long has that avatar been there??? It is SO cool!!!

Put the avatar on today -- got it in an email somewhere along the line. Seems to fit my basic attitude this week so I renamed the file "Reprobate Granny." :D (Besides, I miss Kay's old avatar. ;))

Re the Quick Clicks. I was frustrated the first few times, but once I got the hang of it I really started liking them. I use PSCS2 and I see that you and lizz both use PSP so I don't know how much this will help, but here goes...

First I go to the folder of the QC I'm using and open all the files in PS. Then I create a new 12x12 file and put all of the layers into my new 12x12 before I ever start the LO.

The key that unlocked the puzzle for me was to COPY and PASTE all of the QC layers in order. I kept trying to drag them, which created a major nightmare!! Then I went back and read the directions....hmmmm....paste... :o

I make sure the layers are in order and still have their original names. Then I copy and paste the BG design I want to use and place it just below the QC's first layer. Then I hide everything except the first QC layer and my color BG.

To make the cut, start by selecting the template layer! (Several times I thought I had done this when I hadn't.)

Using the magic wand tool, click inside the QC template shape.

Go to Select > Inverse.

Now click on the layer that contains your colored BG. (Again, I thought I had done this when I hadn't.)

Now go to Edit > Cut (keyboard OA-x on Mac and I think control-x on PC?)

Now hide the QC template layer and you should see your beautiful cut-out.

I usually leave the shadow layers invisible until I get the QC together because I'm not very good at guessing how shadows will look on the finished product.

If you need to place a picture, like a paper-scrap "fussy cut" just lower the opacity on the template layer so you can move your picture around underneath the template. I practiced this on a regular BG until I got the hang of it, though.

Also, I leave the sample LO open so I can refer to it when I get "lost" among the templates.

If someone can copy and paste this and "translate" to PSP, I'd be grateful. Also I'm not well known for finding shortcuts, so please be sure to tell me if there's an easier way to do this.

Happy Birthday to your hubby Evergreen! Thanks for the link to Sharon1313, what a couragous woman. And my Crash & Burn is over until I over-do it again, LOL. I got your lounge on my list of things to do :yahoo:

Yhalos, missed you, wish we could take your bad times and hide them away for you. Passing along some healing hugs:
Now I'll add somemore for Kay too, she's not been on the thread in a few days either

Anyone else in dire need of hugs???   , there, now anyone who would just like a little hug for what ever reason: pass the around and share with everyone:

I added 3 more LO's to my gallery today... yep, been sitting at the pc way too long today. I'm loving those Christmas kits they've put out this year.

You all have a great day, me & Gussie the cat are calling it a night.

I was pleased to hear that the Heritage challenge this week is for a layout from this Christmas, because I just happen to have one already made, did it the day after Christmas! just havent loaded it up to DSP.:santa:
Also realised that I will have to change my avatar now that Christmas is over:santa1: :santa1:
Lizanne Believe me I used to have shocking problems with the Quick clicks, I dont know why they are called that because it used to take me twice as long to do a layout with them, due to much tuition from the ever patient Daggie I am now able to do them, so there is hope for all of us:tup:
For my birthday last January I received a gift voucher to go up in a hot air balloon, tomorrow is the day! I have to be there at something like 6am in the morning:eek:  that hour in the morning does not agree with me normally, but I think tomorrow morning will be an exception. The weather has finally started to improve again, so I am hoping for a clear morning tomorrow morning and of course I am going to be overlaoding DSP with layouts of my adventure:yahoo: :yahoo:

Ah ha! An admitted CS2 user here that I can call on for help...watch out Omi! I am trying to make the transition from being a faithful PSP user to CS2 which I am finding is painfully slow. I'm still not sure what the purpose of the Bridge and Image Ready is for, but I'll get there! Omi, I think you hit the nail on the head in your directions for using the QC's in pointing out that sometimes a step is either overlooked or not performed properly....because if you do, they aren't going to work properly. I absolutely love the QC's and think that once you've mastered the technique, they are a quick way to make a great layout. Most of the kits I have purchased do come with instructions and there are also tutorials on the site for using them. Love the new avatar Omi......what a stitch! Where do you ladies find these at? I thought the one Kay used before Christmas was hysterical. Speaking of.....Kay, I'm hoping you are doing well and you are just having fun lurking in the background! Also hope that you are up and about soon as well Yhalos...what beautiful layouts you posted of you behind the windows with your grandsons.

I also took a look at Sharon's layout.......what an inspiration there. Layouts and stories like these have a way of keeping things in perspective for you, don't they.

I should make my youngest son sit down and read some of the journalling on the layouts posted here......geez you would think at 22 he would be more adult than he is sometimes. For some reason he is in a snit with me....wouldn't speak to me at all yesterday and I haven't a clue why. He'll get over it, just makes for an unpleasant atmosphere. My husband tells me it's my own fault for fussing over him too much while he's recovering from his knee injury...who me???

My son's friend from Australia arrived safely and is a delightful houseguest. His home is near Darwin and I'm going to have to take some time to study more about his homeland. This is his first trip to the US and he is having a great time seeing the sites and hanging out with my son's buddies. He has a tendency to talk fast and with his accent, I have to listen closely. I commented on this last night to which he replied that I was the one with the accent and he also had to listen closely! Touche! He truly is a fine young man and is a great representative for his country. He also served in Iraq and was injured in an IED explosion there.....and although he has physically recovered, these wonderful young men and women will long bear the emotional scars of the war.

Have a great day everyone!

Hello all, news is the hardware in hubby's back has slipped as the bones are too soft to hold them, new calcium has formed around the place it has all slipped too and will not be able to do any more surgery, nothing more can be done for that. In the process the Xray showed the Aorta also and there is calcium building up in it that can be seen by a common Xray. His temps are now back and I am keeping close track on them trying to keep them down. He sleeps a good deal of the time. Took him for blood work yesterday for the infectious blood Dr. Antibiotics are probably going to be the answer again. Waiting for the results...and this is a holiday week end again...so will not get any news until Tues. He seems comfortable and ate a good dinner last night, homemade soup and rolls and said it was exactly what he needed. I am taking down decorations yesterday and today. We are doing fine, don't worry about us. The sun is shinning beautiful today thorough the computer window. I hope to work on some LOs later this afternoon.

Is anyone doing the calendar challenge of Kim's? Or the challenge of Lauren's if so what are the kits or the rules... I am having problems getting into see. Anyone else having problems getting into sites...getting unknown area messages again.

Oh, kasha, I'm a HUGE help with CS2 ---- as long as you ask exactly the right questions!!!!! I can tell you that Bridge is strictly for organizing and viewing your pictures. Personally, I like the way PSE does it better and I especially miss the Photo Bin in PSE 3 -- would love to have that in CS2. Also, I think web designers use ImageReady quite a lot, but I've got my hands full with Bridge and CS2.

Re your son...you'd probably be in trouble if you DIDN'T fuss over him either. They all revert to children when it comes to being hurt and taken care of by mom...including acting like little butts when they start feeling better. ;)

Carma, I've already let you know how I feel about your news. Wish I could take away the fear and pain for you and Dick and for everyone else who is suffering. You said two great things in your post, though -- that he seems comfortable and he enjoyed dinner last night. That's wonderful and I hope it continues.

Re the avatar, I knew you girls would appreciate that picture!!! Just so you know, though, I'm not skinny or blond and I don't smoke cigars. :D I think someone sent that picture for Girlfriends' Week a few years ago. The one I have isn't huge, but if you want to email me I'll send it. (You can send email through my profile.)

Yes Judy, Thanks for your thoughts PM and emailed to me. I felt like that was a good thing to know that hubby is comfortable...that is if he doesn't get up and walk or do anything...in the recliner he is fine or flat on his back. We have that to be thankful for, as it could be constant pain. This we can live with, we have proved that. Physical Therapist will be here shortly. Have some questions for him that will help us know how to do things.

It continues to be a beautiful day today, I am watching as President Ford's casket is arriving at the Church in California. Mrs. Ford sure does look frail. President Ford and Mrs. Ford were personal friends of my sister and before my sister passed away 10 years ago they kept her in flowers in her hospital room and requested that my sister use Mrs. Fords personal suite in the hospital. My sister was a nurse and went many times to their home to assist them.

Hope someone knows about the calendar challange and what the Chats with Lauren is this week. Let me know if you can. The sun will come up tomorrow.

Good morning girls, thanks for the update Carma, sorry it's not better news though. You are doing a wonderful job and maintaining a wonderfully positive attitude through all this. You are one very special and brave RCGer and I am very very happy to "know" you. Good luck, I am pleased the sun is shining through your computer room window:)

Omi, thanks for the QC tutorial, you should offer to write some for DSP, you explain the steps really clearly:). What you have listed is basically what I do, I think my problem lies with my computer RAM, the QC's seem to be large files (all.png files which are big) It takes an age to do each command. A little hint for QC users too: I do what Omi does ie. copy and paste each layer in order from #1 to whatever into a new layout page, but then save that as for eg Square Rounds QC template", saving it in your programme's default file extension (.psp in mine), that ensures the layers are saved with their transparent backgrounds. Then when I want to use that particular QC the layers are all there ready for me (just make sure you save it under a new file name after you have brought in your papers etc. so as not to lose the original template.)

Ineke, you may well at this minute be sailing over the clouds in a hot air balloon!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure it will be a wonderful experience, and we all want to see the photos!!

Now where are the rest of our RGCers??? Are they all recovering from Christmas?? Too much Christmas pudding?? too much Christmas whisky?? Too many late nights in a row??

Have a great day everyone!

I'm here, I have been a bit of a lurker at the moment, must have postchristmas blues:santa1: .........Christmas visitors have all left, leaving me with too much food and a very messy house.... after taking down the christmas decorations, we will be off to the country for the long weekend to celebrate the New Year with old dear friends....oh dear, if they are getting old then I surpose that means I am too....

Heard this funny noise very early this morning, so I raced outside to see if it was Ineke flying overhead in her birthday suit, oophs, sorry, birthday balloon, as, if the wind is blowing in the right direction we get a lot of balloons overhead as the local golf links makes a great emergency landing place........remember once when the kids were little a hot air ballon had to make a crush landing.......the kids thought it was great fun.....the basket was bouncing along the ground.....people going everywhich way......stay safe Ineke....did you go on the champange breakfast one....

Carma, love the 'sun is shining through the computer' love to Dick....
Kasha, no matter how big your youngest has grown up (or thinks he has) a good boxing around the ears never hurts:D ......

Off to find another avatar, must keep up with the rest...
Cyber hugs and kisses to Kay and Yhalos.......

HA! It has been raining all last night and today. But at 81 degrees F. I am not complaining.

We had a delightful trip Wed and Thurs. I even kind of like the "Dashboard Bimbo" GPS that tells my Old Dear where to go. Such a patient voice when he misses a turn, or decides to go his own way..."Recalculating". I think I will print Omi's avatar and paste it over the screen so he doesn't think that alluring voice is a Miss America.

Wednesday night we stayed in the Atlanta, GA. area to have dinner with my brother and his wife at their daughter's house. My sister-in-law and my niece are both avid scrapbookers, but still paper, at this point. My niece's hubby is into computers professionally so I dump my old machines on him and he ends up with "computer-zillas" all over the house.

Thursday we arrived at the house in Florida in the afternoon and immediately shed the sweatshirts in favor of t-shirts. :yahoo: Since then we have been resetting things after an 8-month hiatus. It took a few hours with tech-support to get the modem and wireless router working again. Nothing is ever easy is it?

As for the Quick Clicks...in Photoshop (at least in CS2 and maybe others) under FILE is a choice, SCRIPTS. Many of the QCs have a script with them. Once you have installed that script you can run any QC from that point and it imports all of the pages of the QC in order. I click off the "eye" in front of all but the #1 layer and work with that first. Then click on the next and the next in turn. I think Lisa created the script. There are also a couple of tutorials in the tute section of DSP for working with the Quick Clicks.

Lizzanne and I are both from Gerald Ford's home state, so I think of him as a hometown boy. I have been to his presidential library in Grand Rapids and that is where he will be laid to rest. I am sorry I have missed much of the stories of his life on TV the last few days but will be picking it up this weekend, I hope. My whole family loved him.

Carma, Meryl I am so sorry to hear that things are not going well for your loved ones. As most of you know, I lost my mother 2 years ago Christmas Eve. It was not unexpected and, a week earlier at the family Christmas party, we tried to take some family photos. Unfortunately, my brother insisted on taking them and they weren't very good. Still, we DO have the photos. Meryl, I much prefer better photos of Mother and you might find earlier photos, even from earlier this year, will be more to your liking, so don't even give the "last photos" a second thought. Maybe you will still get a second chance.

Lots of holiday love going out to all who are wrestling with not feeling well. Also, to those supporting loved ones who are needing you so much. Hugs acrss the miles.

My cousin's wife is under hospice care now and they are also supporting my cousin as he stays by her side. Meds will assure that she has a peaceful passing. Hospice will see that my cousin has all that he needs to accept loosing the love of his life. We all thank the Lord for the wonderful family they raised and the support of all those children, grandchildren and great-grandchildern now. We are prepared to make the trip up to North Carolina at a moment's notice.

Hugs to all. Now I am off to wander the forums and galleries for the evening. How could I get so far behind?

Wow, I've really missed alot  . I have popped in to check once in awhile though but as you may have guessed, it has been a little under the weather for me these past few days. I would say it's been more like a week. My DH is home for the holidays and doesn't go back to work til the 8th so I'm really happy that he is here and I can rest alot more:tup: . Christmas was really quite nice for me...we spent it at my sister's house. I didn't stay very long since I need my oxygen and my tank ran out:eek: . Nontheless it was wonderful. Carma, I am so sorry to hear about your DH. It's good that he is resting and comfortable and not in too much pain. That in itself is a miracle.
I wonder if I could use some of that soup myself:think: , it might be just what I need. Laura so glad that you made it safely across to Fla. and you are back and connected again.
Meryl, I do hope that your father is doing better, can't wait to hear from you.

Wow this is such a busy thread :) how do I catch up? Please know that I have read the posts :)
Thank you all for your prayers fror Dad, and your advice re the photos, great minds all think alike - when i expresses my thoughts to my daughter her words were "Mum, I am so glad, and Grandpa will be to, that instead of running around with a camera you were living in the moment".
It has now been confirmed that he had a stroke on Boxing Day (26th) this in addition to the dreadful neck problems. The surgeon speaks of a neck op, but we all feel that its quite crazy, he will not be able to cope with major surgery at this stage- being kept comfortable and as happy as possible is our goal right now.

We saw him again yesterday and sadly, I though he had gone down a bit, he was so very sleepy. Anyway I was able to rub his feet with cream, he says the sheets are very abrasive, and make him more comfortable.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those of you who are ill and caring for ill loved ones.

Quick Clicks.............. this seems to be a huge point of discussion in this thread :) JaeDee I was so thrilled to see your page now up and in the heritage Gallery :) well done :) omiof5 you have given the steps so well, thank you :) One part, though, when you click with the magic wand into a layer, do try instad of you cut method "Paste into" - this pasts the layer into the quick click layer, leaving the drop shadow provided (I INCLUDE the drop shadow on my "white layer" - I know Lauren does too) and best of all, you can use your mover tool to move the image, transform do whatever.

I also urge all you are having trouble to read the releveant tutorials in the tutorial section for your program.

PS I had such a lovely chat with Kay on the way home from seeing the spectacular "My Fair Lady" - our daughter's Christmas Gift to us. Good news is that she will, soon, be staying an hour or so down the coast from us soon, so all being well I will go and meet her :) :) :)

Well I made it up into the sky and back down again - and what a fantastic experience it was!! No Daggie it wasnt me flying past in my birthday suit because I am sure I would have noticed you waving in your jammies and bunny slippers!
Set the alarm for 3.30 am this morning:eek:  for a 4.45am start at the Hilton on the Park. From there we were driven down to Yarrra Bend where they launched the balloons, there were about 7 balloons in total each carrying 10 people. The feeling as you are gliding along is magical, we started off in the dark and slowly saw the sunrise over the city, as we got higher though it became very hazy and you could smell the smoke from the fires that are still burning.
Landed safely and very gently and after helping to fold the balloon we were taken to a scrumptious champagne breakfast at the Hilton, although I gave the champagne a miss, I was hanging out for a strong hot cup of coffee!:p :p
Got home before the rest of the family was out of bed would you belive! and have had to have a very long nanna nap today to catch up on my sleep.
When I get some energy together I will scrap my ballooning photos to share.
Maybe I need some of that veggie soup Carma!! To think I used to be able to stay up until 3am most weekends when I was young and bounce back, now I have to get out of bed at 3.30 one morning and I cant cope!
Must be old age creeping up on me for sure !!

Hey morning ladies.... woke up today to the smell of wonderful veggie soup and when I went to the kitchen. nothing in the pots.. .. Darn it Carma, I told you it was the second house on the left.;)
Laura, your GD's recital LO is wonderful, what a cutie pie she is.
Ineke...so glad you had a great ride  must've been so beautiful to see the sunrise...that is something I would love to do. I have never been on a helicopter and that's on my to do list..:yahoo:
Meryl, so glad that your Dad is comfortable and you are doing well. You know our prayers are always with you. I agree with you, surgery at this point might make matters worse...
I see that alot of you are taking down your Christmas trees and decorations...:( I still have to keep them up.. Our biggest holiday here is Three Kings Day , on January the 6th. Santa Claus is a bonus and he does come but in our culture the biggies are the Magi. The children put grass in shoeboxes under their beds the night before for the camels to eat on their journey. As they come they bring gifts and they leave them for the children .
So....the holidays here are a little more "costly" as we buy gifts both from Santa and The Three Kings...
I'm feeling good today, so I told my hubby we need to go to the supermarket and buy something to cook for New Years Eve. I use to go
out to family members house but not anymore, too exhausting. I'm just glad I am here to celebrate anyway I can
Robbie, Jaedee, Victoria...haven't seen a post from you guys lately..hope everyone is OK....BBL....love you guys..

Welcome Tonka, Cant wait to see the LO of your little one. You will love this thread. There is much support and much laughter and much love here!!
Yhalos, so glad that you are feeling better, I love the Three Kings Holiday. Im not ready for the season to be over. We usually take our decorations down on the 2nd or 3rd.
Carma could use some soup!!
LauraLou so glad that you made it safely to Florida
Ineke the hotair balloon ride sounded divine--cant wait for the LO!!!
I have spent the last 3 days going down memory lane--going through boxes of my chrildren's school things--awards, papers, birthday cards and putting them into notebooks for them. I also ran across several 100 slides from the early 80's that I have been scanning and then running through PSE to enhance them. It has left me a little melancholy. But it will be worth it in the long run. I have so enjoyed have these two weeks off--it will be so hard to go back to work on Tues. The ironic thing is DH will have Tues. off for the National Day of mourning.
Have a lovely weekend!!

So glad to hear that you are feeling better Yhalos...wonderful news. I became acquainted with Three Kings Day when I spent the holidays in the Dominican Republic a few years ago, but I didn't know about the shoebox under the bed part of the tradition. It's so much fun reading the stories shared here from all over. Are you preparing a Rosca de Reyes as well? I need to find a recipe to make this, what fun!
Thanks for the veggie soup Carma....um, um good. Nobody at my house will eat it and I love it... so if I make it at all, I end up eating it for a week or throwing it out which just goes against my grain. Growing up with five siblings, throwing food away just was unheard of. I was sorry to hear that your husband didn't get a better report from the doctor.
Thanks for the explanations on the Bridge and Image Ready, Omi......makes sense now that I've played with them more. The downside to being able to buy CS2 at such a great price is that it didn't come with manuals. Thankfully there are alot of tutorials out there.....and you for backup!
I'm sure none of you ladies have the foot in mouth syndrome as I do....and I'm one who never seems to learn my lessons....but I have to tell you about the celebratory happenings that were going on at my house last night with the news coming from the Middle East. I have two soldiers at my house, my son and his friend, who were both elated at the news. Our phones were ringing non-stop for hours with soldiers calling to talk about the news and to relive stories they shared. I wish I could share some of the photos with everyone that my son and his friends took while deployed, but it's not the appropriate forum, I know. Now I just pray for peace in the Middle East and that not another innocent needs to die anywhere.
Welcome Tonka and congratulations on becoming a new grandmother! I'm still waiting for my turn and look forward to it so much.
Laura......would you kindly bottle some of the Florida sunshine and send it out!

More soup going out to JaeDee, Yahlos and yes to Evergreen, hey some for Tonka as well...this soup is supposed to make you want to take the plunge and do a LO. You are so welcome to our group.
Meryl, I started to upload my Christmas page in the heritage gallery and discovered that I had used kit from Lauren so I will be doing another page using one of your kits. LOL...I will post the one I did someplace else. Sorry to hear about the neck of your father. I agree, if he can stay comfortable with out surgery don't do surgery. Oh a foot rub sounds so good to me too.
Hubby didn't sleep well last night so I am hoping I can get in some more scrapping.
The 3 kings celebration sounds wonderful what a smart idea for the kings to bring the gifts. Ties things together in your mind.

Welcome to the thread, Tonka. Re getting caught up on all the news, I don't think I EVER do.

Kasha, see how I brought the real CS2 experts out of the woodwork? Very clever of me, huh? Laura Lou, can't wait to experiment with the scripts and Meryl, thanks for the paste suggestion. Makes all the sense in the world -- don't know how I got the idea that I needed to delete the templates for my final version!!

Isn't it funny how often we keep doing things automatically without stopping to think if there's a better way? I REALLY like sharing info like this, though, and hope we keep doing it -- I love getting ideas on working smart instead of hard.

Kasha, re the lack of a manual. I really get more info from the Adobe forums than the manual I have. Also, on the advice of one of the pros who uses the forum, I bought Classroom in a Book. It's written by the Adobe creative team and is supposedly used within Adobe for training its employees. I bought it at Amazon for about $30. It's at Classroom in a Book. (http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Photoshop-CS2-Classroom-Book/dp/0321321847/sr=8-1/qid=1167504336/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-0267291-2203663?ie=UTF8&s=books) I never seem to have enough time to sit down and finish the rest of the lessons, but it's a great reference book, too.

Hello to all of my cyberfriends and a big welcome to Tonka. Look forward to seeing LO's of your preciuos grandchild soon. All is well here. We have been out enjoying nature walks and did a little after Christmas shopping yesterday. I have been working on a couple of LO's as well as installing and getting my new portable external drive set up, and downloading photos, etc. I've also been commenting in the gallery, and after awhile, the internet/site just cuts me off, so haven't posted here. I lost the post that I tried to post last night, as the DSP site came back with a "site not found message". This has also been happening when I'm trying to uplaod LO's to the gallery...very time consuming and frustrationg to say the least. Anybody else having any of these problems? This started about the time of the "Crazy Christmas" sale, but hasn't improved much since then. I don't think it's my computer/ISP because I'm not having the same problem elsewhere.
This afternoon we are going out to visit DD and her family, and have dinner with them.
We are planning on spending New Years Eve with friends from our high school days. We'll be going out for a "fancy dinner" and then to a house party. We rotate houses for the after dinner party. We have been getting together with this group of friends for about 45 years now. Wonderful to have such good friends. We also get together throughout the year.
Glad to hear that everybody is okay, Yhalos, glad you are feeling better, and also your 3 Kings Day celebration sounds like so much more fun. Thanks for the soup Carma. Good hot home made soup is a sure cure for winter ailments. hope Dick is feeling better/more energetic soon.
Meryl, hope your Dad is resting comfortably. I'd go for "quality of life vs quantity" at this point. I know that decisions like this are always difficult. Do your brother and sister help with these?
Could I also ask for prayers for my sister's husband. They just received the diagnosis that he has prostrate cancer. He had a biopsy in July, and somehow, they did not get the biopsy results until just before Christmas. They saw the specialist yesterday, and they are being referred to a cancer center. He is in denial, and she is not coping well with the news either. They don't know if the cancer has already spread to other organs at this time. We are praying for them as they wait for the next set of tests.
Kash, I'm ready to start to learn CS2 as well. I've played a little bit with it. I missed the photo bin "big time". I've just mastered PSE 4 (I think), which had a steep learning curve.
Inez, your hot air balloon ride sounded fabulous. So glad you enjoyed it. We see them float over the valley here in the summer time.
Must go. Happy New Year everybody. Hugs and prayers for all of you for a healthy and happy 2007. Hugs and prayers for all those in need.

Welcome Tonka, have you started to get a feel about this thread yet? It started off with a great tone, with that beautiful poem of Kays (by the way, ladies,Kay has a lovely new layout in the gallery, so nice to see her there again) and somehow it grew from there, not necessarily in that same tone:D I am sure you will enjoy being a part of this, the rules are: You have to leak prodigiously, have wrinkles and wobbly bits, have memory loss, have a great sense of humour, be able to listen laugh and love, be able to read quickly (that's anew one I just made up today when I looked at the number ofpages adn posts we are up to now:D), and the warnings are: Never be drinking a cup of coffee while reading this thread else your keyboard will get drenched or you will choke yourself, some of us have specific leaky problems when we laugh so it's a good thing to have the cat near you then you can blame the puddles on it (learnt that one from one of our members:) it might have been the member who cries tears down her legs:D) Anyway congrats on becoming a Granny, the best thing that can happen to anyone. Look forward to seeing the beautiful new person in your life through your gallery! Have fun!

Loved hearing about the Three Kings tradition YH. Thanks for the soup Carma:) Sad to hear about your sister and her hubby V, thinking of you.

Have to go, Have a great day and Happy New Year to everyone!

I will keep your brother in law in my prayers Victoria. Hope that things have not progressed to the point of other organs. I have been scrappin today...nice to have the chance to do that. Thanks for such a warm welcome all of you.. For some reason, I already love it here and have a feeling you are going to endure me for a while.
OK. I need to read a little bit more to find out where to upload my LOs. Second, I need to know where I go to give things, like PSP tubes, brushes, tiles, textures and others that I made for everybody to use if needed. I suppose that they have to be zipped..

I knew it wasnt going to take me very long to get the energy back to scrap those ballooning photos:D :D Now I just have to find the get up and go to do the other things around the house like cook and clean:D :D

They had a special camera suspended from the balloon and when we were floating above the city they took some photos, of which I ordered one at $25 a pop, pure highway robbery but they know people will pay it, so they get away with it. Anyway, that photo is in the mail and I should have it within the next week or so, but I did not have enough patience to wait for it, so will scrap that one as a feature photo later on:tup:

So here is my speedy layout of the balloon flight and did I tell you girls that the pilot was drop dead gorgeous, not that he would have noticed me, I dont look my best at 4am in the morning:eek:

Ineke, your descriptive words "drop dead" are not quite the thing when referring to someone who is piloting you in a hot air balloon miles above ground level, even if he is gorgeous:D (sorry my weird sense of humour is poking its ugly head out:D) Off to visit your link.

Helloooo....(i was yelling up to Ineke), thinking maybe she's still up in the clouds somewhere. What a great experience! Would love to try it sometime. Not sure i'd like it that early in the morning though. Is it because of the wind being a little more mild in the early hours or something that they take off so early?
Love the LO Ineke......was wondering if your sure you didn't see Daggie out there in her bunny slippers. If you didn't ...you should have dropped something on the rooftop to wake her up.
Carma ...your handing out soup? Don't like veggies much here ...but never turn away home made anything!!! Hope your hubby is doing better. Love the Lo of fritz too. He's so cute and little.
Merly ....you and Kay? I wanna go!! Better take some extra tissue. OMG...just thinking of being in the same room with Kay makes me giggle. I just don't think there would be one moment she didn't have us leaking.
Laura....so sorry I didn't get to say bye before you left. I hope you have some good times down there. Bottle up some sunshine for me and send it will ya?
Jill.....did you eat all Carma's soup....cause i don't think that was fair!
Quick Clicks....grrrrrrrrrrrrr....even with the tutorials i gave up. I do believe it is PSP that makes it so difficult. If i were to get a different program how do I make the choice of what one?
Kash....foot in mouth...LOL....mine is in there so much i've decided never to put my shoe on anymore....it was hard on the teeth. Even my toes were getting a little soggy from the drool. My thigh on one leg is a little less chubby because it gets the extra lift from the foot in mouth.
I know your loving the time with the boys....so say what you need to say when you can. They will get over it sooner or later. Besides...they need to eat and you do cook for them right?? When mama ain't happy ....nobody is happy!!!
YH...so glad your feeling better. Happy Three Kings Day!
Oh ...welcome Tonka. I know your going to love it here. Of course we are all crazy and I think thats what keeps us coming back for more...lol.

I've got four of the five grandkids coming tomorrow afternoon to spend the night. I must of been on drugs when I thought of this. I'll need New Years day to recover i'm sure. New Years day used to be a day full of girlfriends. We would go out to eat for lunch while the guys stayed at home watching the football games and filling thier bellies with snacks and goodies. Then it turned into a shopping day and lunch with just one very good friend. For years we've done this. This year we won't be doing it. I feel sad about it but this has been a very tough year for my girlfriend. Her mom is on her last days of life and as bad as it sounds I just wish it would be over for them. My friend has been my best friend since 6th grade. We will both turn 55 this year and for all them years her mother was like a mom to me too. I've lost my mom many many years ago and now I just want the pain to go away for them too.
So..instead of shopping and lunch ....we'll go spend the day with her mom and start the New Year together but in a different way.
OK ..did i mention drugs once already...maybe i'll save them for after ...LOL.
If I don't get back before the new year.....HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
HUGS TOO.

I agree with the "drop dead"!! Not from way up there!!

Tonka, if you have stuff to share you should look up the ladies who do Saturday Night Live. They make things and share them each month.

One quick thought on QCs! I wished that I would have saved a copy of the LO before I added the photos then it would have been ready to use again! Next time I use one I will set it all up then save a copy without background, photos or emblishments then it will be ready to use again.

Thank you Miss Carma for the Veggie Soup, in dire need of some today too, LOL, some dang holiday bug was pestering me in the wee hours this morning. Dick is so lucky to have you making homemade soup for him, I admire anyone who can cook as I'm a disaster in the kitchen, the poor boy would starve to skin and bones in my care. Glad he's getting some comfort lately. And does the homemade soup give some measure of comfort to you too? Hoping so.

Dags, how's you "headache"? I think with all the clean up work from visitors that you instantly qualify for veggie soup anyways!

Yhalos, , glad you were able to enjoy some time at your sister's place, and I bet veggie soup would help warm you up and give you some comforts. Carma, maybe you better get out some more pots... :yahoo:

Welcome Tonka, hope to see your new grandbaby soon!

My DGS is flying home today! :yahoo:  It's been too quiet here without him and I missed him something terrible. He's been at his Dad's for the holiday week, so we'll see what kind of goodies he's brought home. Can't wait to hug him.

Meryl, sometimes foot rubs, back rubs, etc are as much comfort to us as they are to the loved one your doing it for. I think the physical contact keeps you connected and close. Are we allowed to ask how Kay's doing and why she'd be staying closer to you? Haven't seen her on the thread for too long. Hope you do get to meet up with her and that everythings working out for her. Was My Fair Lady great? I've only seen it on TV, what a nice present.

LL, Gabby is so precious just singing her heart out! Lovely LO.. I Enjoyed your trip to FL, and I hope you'll share the warm weather with us often, LOL, enjoy.

Wow Ineke, what a wonder experience that hot air balloon must have been! and to see the sun rise over the city, spectacular! I'm sure that early in the morning would cause a need for a nap  glad you enjoyed it, can't wait to see the LO's, please, please leave us a link..

Yhalos, loved the tradition of the Three Kings, I especially liked the grass under the bed, my DGS leaves carrots for the reindeer. I really enjoy hearing different traditions from other parts of the world. SSSOOOOOO glad you're feeling better today, don't overdo it now but enjoy your time out. We do saurkraut and pork & hotdogs for the newyear celebration. Supposed to be good luck for the rest of the year to eat saurkraut on the first. And I've been known to leave my decorations up till March, isn't Serbian Christmas sometime around there? I'm thinking of leaving the tree and lights up in the craft room indefinately, love the glow they bring and I NEED that comforting glow... :yahoo:

Kash, I'm feeling real stupid here, what news from the Middle East? I'll have to go to CNN to find out. We don't have TV at home here, so I read news on line... was it the execution of Hussein? I hope you are doing LO's of your son's life in Iraq. Make an "album" in your gallery just for him. I doubt I'm alone when I say I'd want the reminder of how these boys keep this a free country.

Victoria, hugs & prayers to your sister and her hubby..

Carma, what a lovely LO is Grandparents are Treasures! Handsome group you got there. I love that Tuscan Kit, keep thinking I need it. Fritz looks so cuddly, and is he ever enjoying his presents! We're trying to teach my cat Miss Gussie NOT to steal presents from under the tree, she brings them from the upstairs gameroom clear down to the kitchen! I didn't know cats would do that. She especially likes those pens that stand up on feet with feathers and beaks on them. Maybe she thinks she's caught a real bird?

Caught your LO of the balloons Ineke, loved it, want to try it, and don't you just love the sound of the those burners? Pshhh on the pilot, doesn't know what he's missing. Had to laugh tho when Evergreen decided drop dead for a pilot was an iffy thing.

Hi Freda, stop by and chat awhile girl. Oh, I really have to get off here, this post may take up the whole page! sorry girls. Hugs to all, prayers to all & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!
I hope and pray that the new year will bring much needed health, relief of pain and peace of heart to those of us in need!
We will be spending the evening with my friend of 42 years and her husband. We have been spending New Years Eve together for the last 25 years. He has a class 4 fireworks licence so we make a lot of noise and setting off a lot of fireworks.
My son from Japan called this morning at 10 min to 8 when it was 10 mins. to midnight for them to wish us happy New Year, so I am a happy camper!
Loved you LO Tonka, and so glad your health is better!

New Year's Day here, we are spending the day with hubby's sister, will no doubt eat too much again:shocked: !!! Lucky I don't drink alcohol, based on my inability to say "no" to yummy food, I think I would be on a very downward spiral if alcohol was in the mix:yes:  Strict diet regime starting right here tomorrow!!!

Tonka your little grandbaby is a sweetie, I want to give him a big hug!! Lindy has had a senior moment with the link so here is the corrected one, quickly now before I have a senior moment too:lol: http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=153999&cpage=2&ppuser=77423#poststart

Thanks for all the lovely comments appearing on my layouts this week, girls, I have been churning out a few more than usual, hope it will continue into the New Year:yes:

I would really really like to be a little fly on the wall when Kay and Meryl get together, hey I would really like ME to be there, not as a fly, flies don't laugh:think: I don't think they do anyway:D I am sure a great time will be enjoyed with lots of leaks, laughs and love!! We expect a word by word transcript you know girls!! Hmmm never did get one from that breakfast meeting between certain members of this thread! They must still be working on it:D Naming no names so as not too embarrass, BUT YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, LL and L!!

Not long to go before some of you are off to the Scrapbooking conference, now remind me which RGCers are going?? Omi, Jaedee I think, Cathie maybe (hope all is improving there) who else??

Soup all gone Carma, deeelicious!!!

I am hoping we will hear something from our errant RGCers, those who haven't popped in for a week or two, no pressure mind  but if you don't pop in here sometime soon, I will seriously have to pull those red threads so tightly that your arms and legs might fall off:lol:

Well, Carma, I hope you're happy. All this talk about homemade vegetable soup so I now have a HUGE pot of beef stew going for our dinner tomorrow. :D Where we grew up, you have to eat black-eyed peas for luck so I sneaked some into the stew. Shhhh....don't tell the DGKs because they love my stew and I'm hoping they won't notice the black-eyed peas.

DH and I both grew up on Irish stew so we absolutely couldn't wait to try the real thing the first time we went to Ireland. We figured out pretty quickly that we grew up on American Irish stew, however!! Didn't handle the real stuff too well. :p

Gotta run. Wishing everyone a healthy, happy, and productive new year.

Hi, Sweeties!!! OK, Jill, I felt that red-thread pull. In fact, I felt that pull from your new location in 2007 while I'm still sitting in 2006!!! We'll get there soon enough! :yahoo:

Carma -- Thanks for the soup; yummy!! I'd like a second helping please!!Loved seeing your pictures in the gallery again. :)

Welcome Tonka and some of the others that have popped in during December.

Ineke -- Loved your LO of the balloon ride. Gorgeous photos!!

Debra / Kash -- I'm with you & your boys on the celebration of that news. Good did triumph over Evil in the end.

Oh, I must be a little bit of an after-Christmas scrooge! :santa1: I tuck all of my decorations away immediately once Christmas day is done. As much as I enjoy the Christmas season and the Reason for the season, I really am thoroughly done with the decorations once guests leave on the 25th. So my tree is down and everything is neatly tucked away until next year. Ahhh -- a clean house again (sort of).

Hugs and continued prayers for our RGC-dears and some of our family members that need healing. May this new year bring new conditions for you.

Happy New Year, ALL!

I need that secretary right now:rolleyes: …only been gone for three days and there are lots of pages to catch up on again, and welcome to Tonka, :D another granny:D we have to train in the art of RGCer’s. I really like you already, I can see we are going to get on just fine….all freebies my way please:tup: ….I am the lazy type who just loves it when people more computer savvy than me makes interesting things just for me to play with……brushes, tiles, textures and tubes (not to sure what they are, but I am sure that I need them!!) I have no idea how to zip things but I am very very very good at unzipping………(just ask hubby!!)

I wanna be a fly on the wall when Meryl  and Kay  get a chatting, don’t forget the camera girls

I will add in my two bobs worth about QC’s which I love, I use them all the time for the LO photo’s that friends and rellies are always requesting and they all think that I am terrible clever. I copy and paste all layers into new blank LO in the order they say, 1. 2. 3 etc. until all layers are pasted in. Then I, Ctrl click, on the layer (in the layer palette) that I want to paste into, this then places marching ants around the selection on that layer. Go copy a photo or paper, then, Shift Ctrl V, this will paste into selection of the layer that has marching ants around it, then you can move pasted selection around or resize to fit. Make sure you are happy with it as it cannot be resized again. Then Ctrl D to get rid of those marching ants…..hope that helps…another hint, I also keep all my QC off line on CD’s as I store them made up with all the layers in order, just waiting for the paper’s and photo’s to go on, as the files are very large and I how have over 40 QC’s…..

Still madly reading posts, and boy am I glad I get to post this before Jill tightens the threads too much, I need my hands for scrapping and my feet for dancing…Happy New Year girls…it not fair we Aussies are always older than everyone else, except for may be the New Zealand’s??????

Judy, you tricked me, with the underline on America Irish stew, I thought it was a link to the recipe and tried to click on it...hint, hint

Love to allllllllll:hug:

Marianne, I think you are referring to the heritage chat. The subject for this week is Christmas 2006, we are to scrap how we celebrated this Christmas. It is Meryl's heritage chat. Hope to see your layout.

Aha, a not so gentle tug on the red threads is working very nicely it seems:D A few still to feel the pull yet though!

We have a couple of our lovely members in the Trendsetter contest, here are the links to their lovely layouts so you can go cheer them along

Gail 0423 http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=154159&limit=last1

Wen2Tap http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=154255&limit=last1

Anyone else that I missed?

Tonka, I see you are a PSPer, there are a few of us in this thread using PSP. I have only v7 but I love it. It seems to be less popular than PSE or PS, so there are fewer resources for PSP in the way of classes, tutorials etc. which version do you use?

Pleased you like your son's new girlfriend Wen, are you hearing wedding bells??? pitter patter of little grandchildren's feet???

New Years Day over there on the top side of the world by now, I reckon, we are coming to the close of ours (well its getting dark anyway) Had a lovely day at SIL's place, eating, talking, more eating etc etc:) Have a great one!

Interesting traditions around the world.

Last year was our first in Florida for the New Year's observation. I had never connected fireworks to New Years, just Independance Day. It was a pleasant surprise to see some fireworks at midnight from the far end ouf our lake...a mile away. This year, with more recovery from the huricanes, we had at least 4 different firework places we could see from the back of the house. After dinner we sat in the jacuzzi and watched for a while until they fizzled out. At midnight they started up again and we could watch them from the bedroom as we sipped champagne and watched the TV coverage from New York.

We also started a tradition last year of spending some time at the beach on New Years Day and we are planning that again. Makes for good photos, since I am still fascinated by the tropical weather.

There are a lot of tourists in our little town over the holidays so going to the "hot spots" to celebrate is not a good option...too crowded and too expensive. The local Sand Bar...a Key West style bar on the beach, is the hottest. Lots of fun, but not when there are so many tourists. We will have respit until the college breaks start this spring, followed by the Easter Break folk. they are necessary for the economy though.

Well, maybe I can ship some of this sunshine to Carma to include with the homemade soup. Everything feels better when the sun is shining warmly. I do wish everyone ailing or needing a break could stay here with us for a while. Old Dear and I feel SO much better after just a couple of days.

My prayers and wishes for a better 2007 for so all of you dear RGCers!

Received this in an email today, it seems to fit.

My Wish for You in 2007 May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans
become a magnet for $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips! May your clothes
smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems
you had, forget your home address! In simple words ............ May 2007 be the best year of your life!!!

Oh Freda that is a real nice piece to share with us today.

We watched the around the world celebrations of New Years Eve. Ended up watching the ball drop in New York, then went quietly to bed. Got good rest and plan on some scrapping again today and who knows what else may happen. We are willing to take what ever comes. Hope you all have a great day. Happy New Year.

I liked that Grandmother's Poem so much that I searched for it:

A Grandmother's Prayer

Oh Lord, I do not ask for much,
Eternal beauty, or youth, or such.
Just give me a little hand to hold,
And I'll forget that I'm growing old.

I do not ask for cloudless skies,
A life that's free from tears and sighs.
Just give me a little face to kiss,
And anxious moments will turn to bliss.

For what is there, really, that means so much
As little hands that reach and touch,
As little eyes that search and see
Only the best in fragile me?

So let me grow more loving and wise
By looking at life through their wide eyes.
For through these little ones, you have given
This grateful grandmother a glimpse of Heaven.

Can't keep me away from here Carma:) Just my weird sense of humour asserting itself again:D I alternate my two avatars kindly made for me by Lizz and Kay, this current one is Lizz's offering and, since I will be doing a lot of bootscootin' this month, I am giving it a work out! Besides those magnificent bosoms hanging down my front on the other one need a rest:D:D

Omi, thanks for those words, I saved the layout that V linked to here so I could refer back to the poem, but I will now save your post, much easier on my eyes than trying to read it from the layout:)

Nice layouts in the gallery today JD, what fun to go through all those old slides.

Good morning everybody. It's another stormy day on the west coast of Canada, driving rain (buckets of it) and high winds again. Only bright spot, we don't have to shovel it (meaning not snow).
Thanks Meryl for providing such an lovely photo of Kate, Josh & Elizabeth for the "Trendsetters" to use. The talent of this group of scrappers at DSP is amazing and wonderful. I just entered the contest on the 30th, after getting an email in my in box to remind us to sign up by the deadline of Dec. 31, so I thought I'd give it a try. These challenges always have so much new and wonderful stuff for us to learn and try. Thanks to all of those who have looked/commented on my entry. Thanks JaeDee for providing the link, and Evergreen and the others for cheering us on. Thanks grannies, we appreciate the attention and the stroking of our fragile egos.
Thanks Omi for copying the grandma poem for us.
Glad to see Kay's post and that she has survived the Christmas season. Don't take too much time off, or you never catch up. Yhalos, hope you feel stronger soon, and that the cancer goes into remission real soon. Prayers and hugs comming your way. Carma, good to see some of your creative LO's again. Laura, enjoy the sun in Florida. Roadmap4Us, good to see your posts and LO's appearing again.
Have a great day everybody. Keep the red threads tight. Must go hunt for Cathiemarie again.

Dearest Darling Friends, I'm popping in real quick to thank you all so very much for your prayers and well wishes for my family - they have been truly felt. DD grows stronger each and every day and is feeling ready to go home in the next week or two. I will miss them dreadfully but we have to try and get back to normal asap. A** H** SIL is giving DD a lot of emotional blackmail which gets to her when she's at a low ebb but as I say she's getting stronger by the day.

When life gets back to normal I will get back into the thread more regularly, I have missed you all so much and have missed out on all that has been happening in your lives. And I promise to reply to all you kind ladies who have pm'd me too.

In the meantime I hope you all had a very blessed Christmas time and I wish you all a very healthy and propserous New Year.

I have stolen a few hours in the middle of the night to do a quick LO of us all on Christmas Morning. Kade's 1st Christmas (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=154730&cat=500&ppuser=52823).

I don't understand that either Evergreen, mine is doing the same thing. Who knows. This has been since I joined The Grannie site. so that is a long time. Anyone figure it out let us know.

Went to hubby's appointment today as we had blood work done on Thursday last week as he is having fevers again. Dr. came in and told us that Dicks sedrate has gone up again and he has consulted with our infectious disease Dr. and they agree that his hardware in his back has got to come out. What a shock, they are getting him a appointment up at the University of Utah Hospital where they have the highest regards for one particular Dr. My Dr. says this man walks on water only gets wet when there are large waves. LOL.
He says he is that good in the medical field, he is a neurological surgeon. So we are now waiting for a phone call hopefully by 4:00 p.m. pacific time
tomorrow. I have no idea how soon they can get him in up there, but we feel good about the hospital, that is where he had quadruple by pass 16 years ago. I would have never guessed this problem would come to this. Of course I am worried, he has been sick since Sept. 2005 and right down. So I will let you all know when I find out when we are going. It will be for a opinion by the Dr. and they will probably go for surgery...I just don't know. Our Dr. can't believe how fast his sedrate is going up.

Just one more thing. I saw all the new avatars and they are splendid. Especially love your's OMI I can identify with that character so well! and honestly when I saw Victoria's I read it as FRIEND SETTER at first, then I realised it said "Trend Setter ". I do think it should be Friend Setter, Helena has been a wonderful tower of strength over these last few difficult months as have many of you so I think we should add Friend Setters to our long list of titles (RCGer's, Leaks-R-Us, Friend Setters etc etc) Just a thought.

Cathie -- Welcome back!! Our thoughts and prayers have been with you and your DD and adorable grandson. We'll keep up these good thoughts and prayers!

Trend-setters and Friend-setters indeed! CUTE! Hey, our RGCers are giving the contest a good run! And the picture they had to work with is fabulous, Meryl! What a delightful pix!

Jill -- why are we not yet seeing a LO from you in that contest, HMMM???? You've turned into a trend-setter right before our very eyes! Get going, Red-thread Lady!! They are still taking applications until Thursday. Bethy is waiting to hear from you!

Regarding those avatars that stick around too long: Try hitting CTRL+F5. Not sure why that works but someone at DSP told me that was a hard-boot that was sometimes needed to clean out your own computer. And, Cathie, if a hard-boot does the trick of getting rid of pesky things here, you might try a CTRL+F5 on your SIL???

YH & Lindy & Kay & Dick & so many others -- (((((((hugs & prayers)))))))

No trend-setter here but I'd really like your thoughts on this wild vivid page I tried to do. Need help on this posterized look (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=154744&cat=500&ppuser=41276).

I am so thrilled each time I see the Trendsetters Gallery - wonderful work from all, especially, of course, the Granny thread ladies LOL! Thanks from all the lovely comments about the photo - wish ALL my pics worked that well LOL!

RoadMap4Us - love the hard boot advice, humm...... thinking it could come in handy with peskies.... LOL!

Hope lots of you will be in Anaheim? its getting sooooo close now

I am hopeing it will be right soon as his sedrate is rising fast. It was 70 last week and 92 this time. I saw the write ups in the newsletter from you Heritage girls earlier, terrific stuff!  And Meryl, the First commumion kits are lovely, can't decide which one I like the best:think:

This thread is really bouncing along at a merry pace - I was in here this morning and now tonight there are heaps more posts to catch up on!! Kim, just in time my friend, the red thread was about to tighten around you neck:D Good on you with all the Christmas projects!!

Forgive my ignorance Carma, but what is sedrate? Sad for you and your hubby that the news continues to be not so good. I am thinking of both of you!

Deb, thanks for the suggestion re avatars:tup: I will try the CtrlF5 thing and see what happens but when do I do that? On a page where the old avatar is or where? I am so impressed by clever people's techniques, just reading the methods used by the Trendsetters blows me away, all those different effects they use to get a certain look! Maybe one day, I might be able to do more than just use the pieces from the kits as they are, I'm hoping to learn all those things and the methods that people post are a terrific learning tool!

Well, if I spend too much time in here, there will be no learning time left, so all for me:wave: . YH I am pleased you get a chuckle from my posts, lots of things to chuckle about in this thread:)

Whoa dear grannies.....you can definitely tell the holidays are behind us with all the posts here.....I won't be able to keep up again with all the chitter chatter. I had planned to be at home this week to spend as much time as possible with my sons, but the flu epidemic seems to have hit my employees en masse, so it's back to work earlier than expected.
Sounds like everyone going to Anaheim is getting excited about the upcoming get together.....what a great time I expect all of you will have! Can't wait to hear all about it and see the photos.
Evergreen......sounds like you and "the girls" are having a great time scooting around the dance floor....I actually know of a lady who has been amply blessed and duct tapes herself to go out dancing - ouch! - no way Jose, not me. I love to dance but don't have the opportunity often. We went out New Year's Eve to a club and I was looking forward to dancing, but the dance floor was so tight the only thing that got to move was my head.
Victoria are you making any progress learning CS2 - what a bear it is! I think had I started with this program instead of PSP, it might not be so difficult. I wish I had not upgraded to the newest version of PSP so quickly and for the life of me I can't find the previous version to reinstall it.
My oldest son told me yesterday that he will be heading back to Iraq sometime very soon....I know when, but obviously cannot post anything like that on a forum. He actually knew before the holidays but didn't want to tell me before and put a damper on the holidays. It will be for another year long deployment and already I'm getting weepy (not the granny kind of weepy) just thinking about it. I don't want to sound whiny here - so many of you have so many serious issues that you deal with everyday, I can't imagine. As always, my prayers go out for everyone in need.
Ladies....have a wonderful, happy day.

I forgot to say that all the layouts posted by the grannies recently really rock! Even if I weren't having software issues, I don't think I'd participate in the Trendsetters......I have fun putting together my layouts, but like Evergreen wouldn't put myself through the stress of something like this.
I would love to participate in the Heritage group since I have a passion for family history and have been blessed with many old family photos. But once again, I have class on the day and time this group meets...maybe this summer I'll get to do that one.

Cathie, I'm so happy to hear from you  . We were all so worried about you and your DD. It's good news that she is getting better but she MUST stay away from that $%^%&&*#@ husband of hers. Emotional abuse is very difficult to get over..continued prayers for you and her. I loved your LO with your GS. You make a great looking Santa.
Carma, so sad that Dick may need an operation :( . It sounds like you will be in good hands though so keep the faith and we will pray for you both.
JaeDee thanks for the heads up on the newsletter it is very wonderful to see all our RCGer's showcasing their brilliant work this month..congrats gals..
Daggie, you are quite a character.  . You can come over and stay with me anytime.
Evergreen , just be careful when you tie them around your neck you don't choke ok...I laughed so hard with you and Daggie I got "leaky"..
Sweet Kash, so sorry to hear about your son having to go back to Iraq. I can
only imagine what you are feeling having a son myself I think it would be devastating. Let's pray that he will stay safe and come home soon.
((((((((((((((((((hugs to you )))))))))))))).
yvseck, glad that you are back also..it's wonderful to see you all returning.
I know I've said it before but, I don't know where I would be without the wonderful support and acceptance and love I feel coming here everyday..
Love you all to death...I'll be back later to check in...

Jill and Dag.. LOL…You 2 had me rolling this morning… I woke up the other night feeling as if a mighty python was squeezing the very life out of me  . I sat straight up only to be knocked down flat  .. What the heck!!! Now I know it was just our Queen of Amplitude :D :D :D tugging at my slackened red threads..LOL.. Thanks Jill for missing me  ..

Well I think I have enough of a handle on things to at least post a semi decent piece of chit chat…. Which I don’t mind telling you was no easy task but felt similar to coming home after long but enjoyable holiday …Ahhhhhhhh…There really is no place like home…And you ladies definitely feel like home!

Meryl and Carma, I am so sorry your special ones are not doing so well… Carma when I told hubby what was going on with your Dick his mouth just dropped open.. Hang tough girls, continued prayers for sunnier days.

Yhalos, I am also sorry you have been having a rough row of it. I am so amazed by you and Kay. Can’t even begin to imagine how you manage all the day to day stuff let alone all the gorgeous LO’s while feeling less then stellar. Super healing hugs to you both..

Cathie Marie, so glad you enjoyed your time with your DD and DGS even if the circumstances behind their being with you are just horrid… When I think of each of my own sweet daughters, the thought of anyone physically harming them just makes me feel sick inside… Can only imagine the rage you must feel at that monster of a rat and his stupid, stupid family. Years ago my Mom was married to an abuser. He had several sisters. All but one of them staunchly defended him and his horrid actions. Never could understand why…

Don’t know who came up with the RGCers tip and tricks idea but just loved some of the tips I read…Wish I had copied and pasted them on to my note pad as I read through them…. Still have trouble remembering I can’t remember squat and need to WRITE it all down…. Guess I will need to go back through and try to pluck it all out.. I got a huge chuckle out of the QC posts… I have bought a few over the past few months but only recently got to really use one. I guess I was thinking they were like templates. NOT!!! Definitely struggled with it and definitely need more practice..

Omiof5, I signed up for the Anaheim crop yesterday. Sure hope I was in time to be included. Sounds like it’s going to be loads of fun.. Wish more of our RGC friends could be there.. Meryl needs to fit Kay in her suitcase and Lauren, all our NZ and Aussie friends. You can all stay at my house… An RGC sleepover.. OMG I would need a truck load of tissue to sop up the leaks.

Kay, the Anaheim bunch is asking us to create A cards to exchange at the crop. Any chance you could whip one up before your date with Meryl and ask her to bring a few along with her to share with your most "beloved SK"…Please, please please... I promise to create one especially for you as well.. Not exactly sure how to do one but think I could figure it all out before the 27th.

Kash, don’t know how you can bare having your son leave again and not see him for another year… Has to be so hard …There is no measuring the gratitude many of us feel for the sacrifice your son, as a man in uniform, and your family makes… God’s bless you all

Ok it’s 7 am and I need to get going. Promised my Madison, Makena and Kaden I would take them all to see Night at the Museum today..

Huge Desert Sized Hugs All and if I missed anyone or anything major please don’t beat me too hard, I am still rubbing my head over Jill’s whipping “girl things” knocking me about.. He He He…Love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been out cruising the News Letter...this is the first time I have gone in to see it. Wowwwwwww what a nice place and lots of info. Sure am proud to rub shoulders with all you ladies that had your Heritage LOs and interviews in the News Letter. What a special treat.

On hitting ctrl F5, when do you do that? When you are trying to put in the new avatar or when you are closing down or what? I did it several times and didn't have anything happen but the icons jiggle each time. I am missing something on that.

Kash sorry to hear that your son will be returning to Iraq. I would be weeping loudly.

Evergreen Sedrate is a test they take by drawing blood to see how much inflammation is in the system. By the amount of inflammation you have increases the infection that you have. I do not totally understand it myself, but I know enough to know if it goes above 30 there is a problem. He went through the 6 weeks of antibiotics in the hospital with IVs each one lasting 45 minutes a day and they are still cropping up as fevers showing that they are active. Hopefully we will get a date to report to the University Hospital by 4:00 p.m. today. He is in constant pain.

Loving and giggling about the boobs when you are dancing Evergreen and Dagwood. What a hoot. I would love to be out boot scooting with you gals. Maybe one day.

I have been really looking at the calendars in the shop and on the different galleries, I really want to get working on one. Right now I don't feel like I can invest the time to do it justice. Until I know what our plans are for this next month. I am also making valances right now for our great room that has 4 windows...so that has a bit of a priority.

Wish that I had a lap top to take to Salt Lake City when we go. What am I going to do when I cannot check in on you ladies.

Oh Kim such a nice post to the thread, we have missed you so. Sounds like you are keeping busy, oh how I envy you and Omni getting to go oh yes and JaeDee to Anaheim. I want to go so bad but it is not in the cards this year. Keep me in your thoughts as you are giggling and leaking all over the place. Drink a diet Pepsi and click your glasses to me while there I sure will be there in thought.
Yes, I figured your hubby would be shocked when you got the message about Dick. How is he doing since his surgery? Last I heard he was great.
Yalos and Kay hope things are going well for you with your treatments. I think of you both so often.
You Trendsetters keep it up and Evergreen you can do it, just jump right in. Your LOs are wonderful.

Cathie- at last! So pleased to hear that things are improving with DD- that's what we've been praying for.
Carma, so sorry you have another hurdle in front of you now. I'm amazed at the calm with which you seem to cope from day to day. It's helps to know that he is going to be in good hands with the best treatment.
Kay- was worried that you had been silent for a while, glad you
finally "unlurked" and materialised:)
Kash- so hard for you. Our family has been through the "Iraq" thing (with my nephew), but he had only one tour of duty. You will be added to my little list for special prayers. I'm sure we all hope and pray that the dreadful situation in Iraq improves in this coming year.
I'm in awe of you trendsetters, and am trying to keep up with the entries and would like a quiet hour or three to study the techniques and learn from them. There is so much talent there. Well done those of you who have entered. You are giving the rest of us a lot of pleasure:)
Jill EG re your PM- yes you were right about the random draw a few weeks ago (IOTW)- well spotted. Statistics dictate it should be a few years before this occurs again!

Anybody interested in a free kit? Scrapmel has designed this kit and will send it to anybody who pm's her and tells her that they would like it.
I saw the thread somewhere, and sent her a pm, and she said I was the 1st taker, and she thought nobody liked her work. We love to give ego's a boost, don't we?http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?p=228952#post228952

Aww ..you guys are so awesome ! I've got back from a very long day in Durban and made a bee line for my 'puter for a sticky beak in to all your comings and goings ! I still can't connect on mine so hava booted DH off his lappie ..he generously gave me 10 minutes ..LOL...in his DREAMS !You certainly didn't fail to deliver ..laughed so hard at our standup comic Daggie and the Amply Endowed One..what a hoot (of course I have visions of Jills little avatar image ..bosoms flying in the wind ..skinny little legs kicking the ceiling ..smile as wide as the ocean ...) Is your big do in your city the end of THIS month ?? I thought it was 2008 ?? Boo-hoo ..I'll NEVER make it in time and Meryl won't beable to snuck me in her bag to Anaheim ..they have new detectors at our airports that sniff out undesirables !! Cathie ..wow !! Soooo happy to see you back ..you were missed girl ! KIM !!! Best Speck !! Loved your post and love having you back too !! Hope you had a magical day with the littlies today ..how is your tiny Mia settling into the life of a princess ??
Pressing F5 didn't do too much for me either .in an earlier post it was suggested that you clear your cookies ( that always sounds SO rude !!) and temp files .This worked for me although the only cookies I've cleared recently came out of the cookie jar and settled firmly on my hips !!
We went to Durban for my 5 hour stint of chemo today ..I'm halfway through it already !! Also got my CA125 (cancer marker) blood results ..it was 440 before my op and today was only 34 !!! :yahoo: :yahoo: 0 to 35 is normal !! A huge thank-you to all of your for all your prayers and hugs ..I KNOW that is what is doing the trick !! I feel so blessed . I got so leaky and felt humbled to see a tiny 3 year old in another room sitting uncomplaining , with a face like an angel and a shaven head, on her Mums lap receiving a chemo treatment too ..awww man !! My heart nearly broke ..how awful is that ?? Yikes ..leaking again !!
From the very limited time I got to sneak a peek in the Friend Setters  gallery I was blown away by the awesome stuff in there ..well done all are lovely RGCers  ..our girls are definitely the best and have set a very high bar for the rest !
Have to go ..my eyelids won't stay open and it's only 7 O'Clock !! Will be back soonest ..huge hugs XXXXX

Thanks for all of the lovely comments on my "Trend Setter" LO, and also the comments re: Heritage Chat featured in the DSP Newsletter. Does this count as "being published"? I've never had anything published before (but then I've never submitted anything for publication either. My ego is too fragile for rejections). I really hesitated about signing up for the "Trendsetter Contest" as well, and almost decided not to post my LO, and then thought of all of you, and how wonderful and supportive you all are, and decided to go for it. I learn so much from these challenges that will help me become a better scrapper.
Hope you got your specialist appointment Carma. Waiting for the phone call is the worst. Hope all will turn out good for Dick and you in the end.
Hugs to Yhalos and Kay. hope your Chemo & radiaiton treatments end soon, and that you are feeling better and stronger today.
Omi, your DGD's LO is lovely. Left comments. That is one beautiful young lady, and so talented too.
Loved your calender LO Roadmap4Us.
Hope all of you have a great day.
