Oh, Carma, you CAN talk in here and know we understand and don't judge. I have wondered a lot of the same things...My Old Dear is getting weaker and weaker from advanced Post-Polio Syndrome, but he is a stubborn old coot and would RATHER muddle through as best he can. He vowed to die before he will accept a wheelchair. I know his kids and mother think I should be doing more for him, but that is the worst thing I could do. I am here for him and he DOES call when he needs help. He will be struggling out of a chair and I don't offer to help. I know it insults him, but others in the restaurant must think I am cold not to lend a hand. His mother thinks I should clean his house, but whatever he does is his exercise. When I do something, like today, cleaning his countertops in the kitchen, he will thank me but remind me he would rather do it himself. I do all the cleaning for 4 months in Florida and I don't feel at all guilty letting him do his own here.
I know he will take care of me whenever I need it, in as much as he is able. Fortunately, we have 3 of the 5 kids close enough to help.

Laura Lou, you are very wise to allow him to do things for himself. Most men don't like to be babied and reminded that they can't do all they used to do. My DH thinks he can do everything he did as a 20 year old! It is hard to convince him to hire someone to do the heavy things.
It's not good to do everything for ANYONE. When I was still teaching, it was so upsetting to see parents holding back handicapped kids and keeping them babies. I have a friend in a wheel chair and we go out often. I'm sure people think I'm not nice enough to her, but she wants to be independent and I'm sure not going to be the one to stop her. Everyone needs to do as much as s/he can do or they wither away.

Oh my so much going on..where to begin? First of all ((((((((hugs )))))))))
Carma. You are a wonderful and gentle sould of God's.;) Don't be hard on yourself, what you have expressed is perfectly normal under the circumstances in which you are in right now. It's sooooo important not to let your mind race ahead of you. Gardening was just what you needed, channeling those thoughts elsewhere. I am sure that your DH would do the same for you need be. I was in pretty bad shape myself with this strange illness of mine and he proved to be a kind soul:) . My prayers are with you Carma, hang in there and remember we are here night and day.:D There's always someone looking out on this thread and it's great people. I'm glad you vented on us...it's a good thing;) .
LauraLo you are a riot..I cracked up with your post on the Children..soooo, soooo funny..and sadly TRUE. .It's like I always say, if I knew then what I know now..what a different world I'd be in.:p . I left posts for "Bad Hair Day" and for the wonderful new soul that came into Kim's life. You all make my day....especially when I am not feeling so good myself, but that's another story..Stay healthy and safe, talk to you all later.

Carma, you know how we all feel about you, there are lots of comforting shoulders here to cry on so you just go right ahead and cry on them!!!! I think you are one of the bravest sweetest strongest people I have ever had the pleasure to know!
Kim that sure is one precious little bundle of joy. Little Mia is gorgeous and so doesn't look like a new born, bright and aware already!! Loved the different photos you chose!! congrats, granny!!!!
Love the anniversary and firstchild, second child, third child verses! My daughter (third child) has a couple of funny "third child" observations that she trots out on numerous occasions: " First child got the slim figure and the nice skin, second child got the brains, the curly hair and the sporting ability. By the time third child came along there was only left overs. All I wanted was Mum's skin and Dad's legs and what did I get???? Mum's legs and Dad's skin!!!!" and the second one: "There were so many photos of first child and enough of the second child that it was no trouble at all to find enough pictures to do the birth to twenty-one collages for them. When it was my time, I had to draw pictures of me to get enough images to fill the page!!!" I'm sure she is exaggerating:D:D:D
Running? I'm more a "sitting" person myself:D:D Hubby and son are both very sporty and it does seem to be addictive, they would both get grumpy if they hadn't been for their run or training session or match. I was never too happy with the dirty hand marks on the wall as they would press their hands against it to do their stretches!! I spent many many years around cold sporting fields. So far, none of the grandkids are very obsessed with sport.
Still in spring here and it has been far too hot and dry, a very scary prospect for the summer. The water storage dams are less than half capacity, no subsoil moisture for the farmers to sow their crops. Hope we get big rains soooooon.
Have a great day everyone.

Thanks you all for your kind words and thoughts. I felt so stupid after I posted that reply, it has just been a rough day. I finially got my hubby up and changed his pajamas, coaxed him to come into the great room and sat him at the counter, he didn't have the energy to eat so I fed it to him again. I feel so sad for him. I know it has to be horrible for him to let me do the things I am doing for him. I know that he is grateful, get a bit cross at times but mostly just stays quiet. I try to keep the cheerful face and voice for him at all times. Our little dog even knows he is hurting, and he barks encouragment at him from time to time.. today he went in the bed room and really sat up a ruckus, I went in and he was down on his front paws barking at the bed wanting him to come and play. They really do feel what is going on. I have him in the recliner now and the ball game is lulling him to sleep. I will leave the ball game on as long as he is in there. I may work on a LO. Yahlos, I hope you get to feeling better, it is difficult I am sure to be sick for so long and have to go through treatments etc. I helped my sister in her last days or I should say year. She stayed so positive I could not believe it.
I too loved the storys about the 1, 2 and 3 child, sure is funny how that is so true.
Laura, it has to have been difficult for you to watch your sweet heart for so long have the difficulties he has had. It is hard not to do the things we think that they need to have done. But it is difficult not to do them either.
Each of you have been so supportive I want you to know that I truly do appreciate it. I know that he would do what he could if he could if I was down too. Hopefuly he will never have to do that again for me.
Have so enjoyed looking at some of the gallerys of you ladies, so neat to see the new babies, the darlin children and the spunky husbands. LOL. Nice to hear about eating chocolates until you get sick, good to hear about how wonderful it was to have grand childeren with you and so nice to see them go so you can get some rest. Have you heard that the two best times is when they arrive and when you see the tail lights of their cars when they leave, They we cry like babies like they never will come back. I always got a kick out of that saying.
It rained really good today, but turned out sunny and warm in the afternoon, now we are expecting more rain. That is nice, as it has been so hot here, now it is cooling off. Yes, I plan on getting more gardening done. This time I will take a before and after pitcher of the project in the front yard.
I really like the suggestion of a baby moniter Omni to keep track of my husband, thanks so much for that suggestion. Hugs back at all of you. Hubby and I have been married 46 1/2 hears.

Carma I am so very sorry to hear about all your problems, sometimes we do get that low that it is difficult to see the answer to our problems, but then another day comes along and with it new starts.
Ryan is home from hospital but still not out of the woods, he seems to have lost control of his bladder, which he is finding very embarassing as you could imagine, it also means I am up 6-7 times a night to toilet him, I think I may need to ring the hospital again on Monday to have this checked out, hopefully they wont want to keep him again.
I must admit that I think females are far better at handling the every day tasks of looking after a disabled or sick person than men, my DH established the Muscular Dystrophy association here in Victoria back in 1984 one year after Ryan was diagnosed and works long hours every day towards the cause, but as far as helping to look after Ryan at home he is just not interested, he doesnt have the patience to cope with Ryan,s needs, so I suppose we all work at what we are good at.
Kim congratulations on the birth of your new granddaughter, so is just beautiful, you must be such a proud granny:)
Some of you ladies were asking about the story of my families migration to Australia in 1964. My mother came from a very large family 12 living children and she already had a brother and sister living in Adelaide, so from correspondence with them about the good life style that they were experiencing in Australia, my mother decided also to migrate and in her enthusiasm managed to convince 2 more brothers with their families to come also, 6 months after we arrived we also would you believe had our next door neighbours with their 7 children arrive and settle in Adelaide.
Things did not run smoothly though, my father was a well established Head Chef in a top restaurant in Holland, but back in 1964 the Australians did not appreciate anything too different from their normal menus, things have changed totally now and Melbourne is a very cosmopolitan city, but not in those days, so my father had a lot of trouble finding a job, which made us move from Adelaide to Melbourne, where there was more job opportunity.
After 2 years in Australia we moved back to Holland because I still had 2 married sisters there and we missed them, but things were no easier in Holland, not being able to find housing etc, so after 1 year there we came back to Australia again followed by one of my sisters and her family, the other stayed behind which in itself has been heartbreaking over the years. My mother would try to go to Holland every few years to see her, but we have missed all those years with her.
Out of the 17 original family members that migrated only 6 of us remained in Australia permanently, so our famaily is quite small here.
I am very pleased that my parents decided to return to Australia because it is a wonderful country to live in.
So there is my story - another sad thing is that my father died 1 year after we returned to Australia aged 52 of kidney failure.
So who said "Life wasnt meant to be Easy" I think it was actually one of our Prime Ministers!

I started doing a layout this morning of some of the beautiful roses I have growing in my front yard, now I am definitely no "green thumbs" and to see these roses flourish every spring despite my neglect and the dry conditions here, made me think of all the hardships we face in life, yet we flourish.
So I would like to dedicate this page to all of the RGcer's and especially to Carma who is doing it extra tough at the moment .. keep your chin up and think of those roses.

Ineke, Thanks so much for posting you LO!!! It is absoultly beautiful! So sorry to hear of Ryan's troubles. But somehow the beauty of the rose make things seem brighter! And what you said about the rose could be said about you--you seem to flourish in the hard times!!
I loved the 1, 2, and 3rd children onliners from Laura. We have a family friend that insisted that I not only wash my hands and wear a hospital gown to hold her first newborn (all expected) but I had to wash my face also! When baby number two comes she shows up at my family gathering with her newborn (4 days old) and passes him around like a sack of potatoes with no one washing their hands or face. Gotta love her!
We had a wonderful anniversary! Dinner out and a quiet relaxing evening at home. The kids made it home safe and sound--a nine hour flight with a 18-month-old must have been hard but they are always positive.
Deb congrats on your anniversary on Wed.--hope you have a nice one.
Carma hang in there! We're all praying and pulling for you!
Go Tigers!!

Ineke, Thanks so much for that beautiful LO, it is so wonderful, my favorite color for roses is yellow, it stands for friendship and I have truly found that here on this site. Thanks so much for dedicating it to me. I found your story of migration very interesting and what a time you all had. Sorry to hear about your father's passing just a year after going back to Australia. Your husband sounds like a determined man, and getting a chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy going there what a fantastic job for him to do, but so sorry he is not more hands on with your son. Speaking of which, did you call the Dr. or hospital to see about his bladder control since the kidney stone? I hope that he regains his control, that has to be mose embarrasing for him.
My Hubby was having a very difficult time this a.m. and for a little whle he thought we would go to the ER. I went and got dressed etc. went back and had given him a pain pill before leaving him and he said we can wait until in the morning when we go to see his Dr. at 10:15. Since then he has had his other pain meds, I have him encased in pillows all around him and one under his knees, and he seems to be sleeping well at the present time. Of all the things he wanted to eat this morning was a Egg and Sausage Mc Muffin from Mcdonalds. We have one with in 3 blocks so I drove up and got him one and a cup of coffee. He ate the whole Mc Muffin and sipped at the coffee. He is now sound asleep.
I have checked both the target and WalMart web sites and have found several baby moniters that I think would work well...I will have my friend go over and pick one up for me this afternoon if she can. Thanks for that suggestion. Only bad thing about that I will have to hear him snoring at night LOL. It will be a good sound:)
I think that you can tell by my post here that my spirits are high again today. I feel ready to meet the world face on. I had a good talk with my Havenly Father and I feel comforted, also all you good ladies words of encouragment make me realize I am up to the job.
Jae Dee, I am glad your kids got home safe and sound and that you had a wonderful Anniversary Dinner. Congratulations on the Anniversary.
Everyone have a safe day and remember I am thinking of you all too. The Sun Will Come Up Tomorrow.

It was a long afternoon yesterday. The Old Dear and I watched the 4th Tiger game in the American League championship and I about had a heart attack when, with the score 3-3 in the bottom of the 9th inning, we got a home run with 2 on base. Final score 6-3 for the Tigers. What a party in the whole Detroit cheering area!!! My brother even called me from Las Vegas where he is helping the family celebrate a 21st birthday (nephew's girlfriend). I plan on doing a layout about the other championship I remember in 1984. I will link it here. The World Series starts next weekend from Detroit's new Comerica Park. I shall be GLUED to my TV even though my DD#1 will be home from Tennessee late Sunday night to celebrate Halloween with her two wee neices.
Meanwhile, I hope you all realize that you are always on my mind. Dozens of times a day I think about so many of you and what you are facing from saying good bye to grandbabies to caring for the ill. We celebrate the good things in here and we empathize with all who are facing challenges. You are all never far from my mind and I am sure I speak for others.

lizzanne, I love that LO and journaling but tried to nit-pick and offer my thoughts. Have you posted at What One Thing? It's at http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18470&highlight=wot. A new one is started every week and it's just a great way to get CC. Since people are only allowed to choose WOT (what one thing) they would try with a LO, you get very thoughtful answers. HTH. :)

Ineke, just saw your beautiful rose layout!! It truely is breathtaking! I got something once in a chain kind of email about God making the rose so beautiful but still having thorns. I can't remember it very well but remember I grabbed the tissues while I was reading it and thinking how true it was. Wish I still had it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Just finished catching up on a couple pages of updates. Hugs, prayers and thoughts to all -- especially Carma and Ineke. So hard to see our loved ones in waves of pain and dispair. God Bless both of you as you hold their hands and listen to doctors and do what you can. Take care.
Beautiful, beautiful Mia, Kim!!!!! I can't remember who else said this -- but that baby doesn't look like a newborn. Beautiful skin and so filled out!! That little tyke will fit right in with the rest of your gorgeous family!
LL -- Glad to hear your Tigers are on the prowl (LOL!!).
Ineke -- your immigration story makes you quite the world traveler. I just marvel at those who are as comfortable with a world-globe in making BIG decisions as most others are with a city-street-map.
Hugs to all others. This thread is like a box-of-chocolate-friends inside our computer screens. Some are a little nutty. Some are tough and chewy. But all are sweet! All we have to do is open up that box each day and savor the taste of friendship! (OK, I might have seen Forrest Gump just one too many times!!)
Will catch up on galleries and news soon.
p.s. I did see a post by Kay on someone's layout so I know she's lurking! Come home, Kay!!!
Will everyone please offer a little prayer for a friend who is having cancer surgery on Monday? Thanks.

It’s been a lovely day here today, the sun is out and people are smiling. Ineke they are lovely roses you sent to Carma and put a smile on all our faces. Ded, how did the marathon go on Sunday, lots of cheering from the sides I bet, I too could never understanding running for Fun!! Dancing yes…running noooo…have a wonderful anniversary on Wednesday. Box of chocolate friends, what a hoot…
A while ago someone asked about scrapbook magazines down under and the availability of it. I only by accident came across Digital Scrapbooking 4 on the shelves in our local store, it was $18 and I have never paid that for a magazine in my life, but I found myself back there the next day and purchased it. I had to order the other additions from the Internet as the I couldn’t find any more in Oz. Don’t you dare tell my hubby how much I paid for them as I don’t think he would understand. I wonder when no. six is due out?
Should we go on a safari and see if we can find Kay? I too have seen her lurking in the forums so maybe her red thread has got tangled and twisted around.
prayers for omi and her friend

Had to share this with you ..the last bit made me fall off my chair !!
This is for all you girls 40 years and over.... and for those who are turning 40, and for those who are scared of moving into their 50's...AND 60's.. and for guys who are scared of girls over 40!!!!
Andy Rooney says:
As I grow in age, I value women who are over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:
A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night to ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think.
If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do. And, it's usually something more interesting.
A woman over 40 knows herself well enough to be assured in who she is, what she is, what she wants and from whom. Few women past the age of 40 give a hoot what you might think about her or what she's doing.
Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you, if they think they can get away with it.
Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated. A woman over 40 has the self-assurance to introduce you to her women friends. A younger woman with a man will often ignore even her best friend because she doesn't trust the guy with other women. Women over 40 couldn't care less if you're attracted to her friends because she knows her friends won't betray her.
Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. They always know.
A woman over 40 looks good wearing bright red lipstick. This is not true of younger women. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.
Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk, if you are acting like one! You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her.
Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed hot woman of 40+, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year-old waitress.
Ladies, I apologise.
For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free", here's an update for you. Now 80% of women are against marriage, why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig, just to get a little sausage.
Ineke

Kay lovely to see you back in the thread - you can see how much we all missed you!!! I loved your story about mature women... it is so true it is uncanny, sent it on to all my girlfriends over 40 and some males as well, just to make them realise we dont think they are perfect.
It was a beautiful day weather wise here today so I packed Ryan in the van, grabbed my sister and we spent the day on the road discovering new places. We ended up in Healesville which is a gorgeous part of outer Melbourne and spent hours in the National Park where they have these wonderfully coloured wild Rosella's and Lorikeets that come down from the trees to feed, so will be doing a layout soon with us and birds!!
Ryan seems to be improving which is good news.. Better go and load up my photos!!!!:D :D

Kay -- Welcome back. So good to have your sense of humor back amongst us. Your own stories made me LOL as much as your Andy Rooney story! Good fun to have you back!... My prayers are with your friend, Omi. Keep us posted on how that goes. ... That did remind me that we need an update on Ang's sister. I remember that surgery went well a couple weeks ago; am praying that recovery is going the same. ... Ineke -- Your day 'out' sounded wonderful and, yeah, Ryan is feeling better.
Ah, that marathon run -- I wish I could get into that form of exercise as I watched all those lean bodies, even some grannie-aged ones yesterday. Alas, I'll be destined to take the pictures (and create the layout! (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=139301&cat=672)) and do my meager aerobics occasionally!
Nancy/Cybergram -- I LOVE your font! I'll be using that routinely. It was great to use in lower case and in CAPS!
Later All!

Hey Nancy ..I did'nt know that gorgeous little Angel poem would evolve into something as awesome and wonderful as this "chocolate box"..love that !!...of fabulous cybermates where we can gather to vent and leak and cry and brag and share to our hearts content and NO body minds they all still love us anyway !! Even when we AWOL !! Our biggest fear is we get booted out of here !!! Bit of a cheek just taking over DSP's space ..but hey..that's what wer'e best at !!! I love your font and downloaded it on hubby's lappie ..really really wanted to use it on my latest LO but could'nt transfer it (memory stick dramas at 1am in the morning ..another tale !!..) So now I'm just practising Debs instructions ..Thank-you Thank-you Oh Gracious One ..if it does'nt work ..PLEASE Kim send me your PM instructions for idiots so I too can have neat little words linking things instead of rows and rows of gobbldygook !!Giggles (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=139050&cat=500&ppuser=1832)
Kay, glad to have your offbeat self back -- daggie's been having to go it alone. :p
Re getting kicked off of DSP -- this is such a positive website that I figure we're their favorite people. We certainly make a heckuva cheering squad, don't we? And all thanks to our Kay. ;)

WooHoo ..it worked !!!! No idiot guide for me !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much Deb !! I might point out that 3chickens and Moderator Pam have BOTH very sweetly and patiently tried to talk me through this and failed dismally ..so hats off to you !!!!!!!!!!
While on the subject of awesome tutors ..Laura ..that little tut you left for Liz on drop shadows is FANTASTIC !!!!! Thank-you so much ..I nabbed it quicker than you could blink an eye !! The only area Corel Photo Paint is lacking in is shadows ..it always throws a hairball when I try ! Now I'm sorted and can truly say I feel smugly superior to Adobe users !!! (Uh oh ..very brave on the other side of the world are'nt I ??) PEACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Girls, Hope everyone's having a good day. Good heavens, even Kay's regular posts make me laugh like crazy. new as I am, i wondered where you were too, love ur avatar, and u seem to fit with her cheeky look, LOL
Prayers to eveyone in need out there, due to my leaky memory, I just can't keep straight who needs what yet. the long posts that answer everybody elses amaze me, LOL, what do u suppose will happen to my memory when I hit 55, or 60, or.... could be interesting.
Kim, to answer ur question, I'm not new to digil scrapping or DSP. Just never participated until a week or so ago aside from a few purchases, freebies, & looking at all the beautiful layouts everynow and then. The DET Boot Camp challenge caught my eye from a recent DSP newsletter that I get, then I literally fell across this Grandmothers thread while checking out the DET Thread and that was it. The house work is going to pot but boy am I getting LO ideas and even getting them done, so much fun. I do post LO's at another gallery site, suppose I could put them up here. Their challenges require the purchase of a kit, and my bank card frowns on that, LOL... so I just post LO's and look around. my out of town family also has the link to the other gallery so they can see what i've done. That was the main reason I posted there.
Well, I've run on long enough here, :)

Oh my dear RGCer's, I can't tell you enough how happy I am to see that Kay has found her way home:D . I have been having a bad day with my joints and bones hurting like crazy:( . I just decided to come and check on the greatest thread on DSP and boom, there she is:eek: . Oh Kay you made me laugh so hard I thought my bones would fall off:p . You are wonderful. Ineke, glad that Ryan is doing better and Carma hope DH is doing well. Daggie, don't think your DH doesn't notice the magazine...I did that for awhile and then I said hey, I deserve a treat once in awhile, gotta live a little , right.?;)
Oh yes, definitely get the "leaks" here , but it's wonderful to be able to share the good and the bad. Nancy, love your font, glad I you came over to this thread too:) .. Ok..that's it for now, need to go and check out what I'm going to do for the next round of NKOTB. .(((((((((hugs))))))))) to all.

Hello ladies, may I join your group, I read in another thread about RGCers and so asked Kay what it was and she told me to come on over, so I did and I read the first few posts on the thread but it was 80+ pages long so I didn't read them all but what I did read made me think, I really want to be in with this crowd of lovelies who all have something in common - thier grandbabies. I'm a relatively new Nana, my DGS was born in May. I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all better and sharing our stories.

Good evening everyone! Welcome Cathiemarie! I do hope you like it here...just jump right in. It's a wonderful thread to be involved with. Don't take much time between reads....you'll definately need lots of time to catch up. I'll fill you in about myself real quick and so will everyone else. We are just a whole bunch of "old" women cackling on and on...lol ( ducks for the slapping). I live in Michigan and have 4 grandchildren. Two 3 yr olds, a 6 yr old and one 8. Some of us here don't have grandkids yet and just are hanging around because they are wannabees. Oh ..wait ...Ineke has a grandstone. yep ....yep....we are still waiting to see that LO....lol.
Kay...i've got to tell you how much you make me laugh. I truly wish I had your humor. I've got a feeling there isn't a person around you that don't go home without a sideache from laughing.
Many of you RGC'rs make me laugh and your so good for my heart and soul.
I hope hubbies and sons are feeling better daily.
Also ..thanks for all the suggestions on my last LO...i'll finish that someday and post it. Used lots of your suggestions and found you all had something i lack....IDEAS!....lol.
Kim....have you watched Brother and Sisters after Desperate Housewives?...it is very good. I hope they do something a little more creative with Desperate Housewives....i'm not as thrilled with it as i've been in the past.
Now this woman is going to hit a few galleries because I can never get trhough all of them before DSP and computer give me fits about moving around.....lol. Then off to bed. Hugs all!

Welcome CathieMarie-- and all the others that have joined up in the last couple weeks. So roll call has started. Well, my name is Deb and I live in Iowa. I have a wonderful DH who was my highschool sweetheart and we have an anniversary coming up on Wed -- 31 years!! 1 daughter, 1 son-in-law, 1 DGD (6 yrs old) and 1 DGS (almost 1)! Love 'em all -- and they are nice and close for hugs each week and for pictures! I love this digiscrapping thing and am still a newbie, having just started at the beginning of this year. I mostly just copy everyone else's good stuff! A lot of us are copycats -- so be warned: We WILL see your galleries and you WILL be scraplifted!
Lindy -- I had a hunch you were not a newbie scrapper. You already have some nice stuff in that gallery!
Lizzanne -- love your avatar, Girl! Cute!!
YH -- ((((( cyber hugs ))))))
That goes for Carma and Ineke and all the others.
Later.
Thanks (I think!!) to everyone who challenged me to turn my grandson's "slide" IOTW into an OOB. Took me a few days to figure it out but I just posted at http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=139457&cat=500&ppuser=19780. Thanks for being so supportive and encouraging me to try something new.
Cathiemarie, welcome to this zany group -- it's definitely a fun bunch.

Welcome Cathiemarie, my name is Helen and I live in Australia (Oz) for short. I am a stepgrannie (age 55) having married a widower way back in 1988 before he even thought of grandchildren. I have no children of my own but now I have 6 stepgrandchildren ranging in age from 16 to 2 months. It has certainly been a giant learning curve for me but I love it. DH says that I am having the best of it and he could be right. I love having them and then I love giving them back:) This is a great group, esp. because we are in a bit of a minority in the digiscrapping world. You know the old saying though `old aint dead' LOL.

"7" grandchildren, 6yrs to 4 days... and one more due Dec 25th.... Hope you like hanging out with this crazy bunch... Leaks R Us... From all kinds of places... I am thinking we all should buy stock in tissue.. I am sure it's gone way up since our beloved Kay started this great thread with her heart swelling poem...Dag don't you Aussies have sticky notes????? LOL... I have a tree full of apples... Should I send you a few bags:D :D :D ? Hey I checked the price on my Digi mag.. Here in the states it's just $6.99.. Wonder what the rate of exchange is between us... Anyone know. I looked into sending a copy to Kay in SA... Would cost me $24.00.. That's so crazy... I need to check to see if Simple Scrapbooks will ship it for less... Haven't heard anything about volume 6 yet... But I do know that Simple bought out an online Digi Mag or was it Digital Scrapbooking they bought out.. Grrrrrr.. Darn senior memory:D .. Any way they bought one and I think Creating Keepsakes bought out the other.. Sure hope they keep it all going.. I love scrap mags.. Would buy any and all Digi's I could get my hands on.... I just love looking through them for info, ideas, and such.. Take them with me everywhere.. That's how I found this place and got started scrapping. Hey DSP any chance you would like to publish a Digi Mag????
Have a great one all!

In the forum tools I set this thread to appear in my mailbox every day then can read through 24 hours of messages every morning. I often share the funnies with my Old Dear.
I noticed a lot of new RGCers since our last intros and many of you taking care of that so I will follow suit.
I am Laura, a Granny hopeful since my youngest child was 12! Finally, at age 34 she gave me my first granddaughter and another 3 years later. I am in heaven! This is what I was ment to be. I live in Michigan with a 3-4 month escape to Florida in winter. My granddaughters with their parents, visit us there during school breaks in February and for Easter, thank goodness!
My Old Dear has been my sweetheart for 26 years, but decided not to meld our families (his 2 and my 3) and become the Brady Bunch. Now I live across the street from him in Michigan and in the same house in Florida. It works.

Kim !!!! LEAKS R US !!!!!!!! How funny is that ??? You are such a scream ..where do you come up with things like this ?? It took me at LEAST 10 minutes to compose myself (not very elegantly !!) after that ! Huge warm welcomes Cathie ..so glad you took the time to come on over !! As you'll soon discover ..we are a very leaky bunch ..and now that our resident Desert Rat has such an apt lable (now I've dissolved into giggles again ..DG thinks I've totally lost it !!) pinned to us ..probably securing all our red threads ??... be warned not to be drinking anything and to have a box of wet wipes nearby before reading these posts or your keyboard WILL dissolve !!! I'm Kay and have recently been AWOL but been so warmly welcomed back that I feel so warm and fuzzy inside !! Thank-you precious RGCers..wow ..what an awesome bunch you are !!! I am the ONLY brave South African RGCer ..have 4 awesome little grandmonkeys ..2 in Oz..sob sob ..1 in CapeTown (2000kms away )sob sob..but 6week old Emily right here..10 minutes away.. woohoo !!! Got remarried 8 years ago to the BEST DH ever and between the two of us have 6 wonderful kids spread out all over place !! So great to see you back too Helen ..big time AWOLer yourself !!! A glass or 2 of good red wine definitely makes for a wonderful creative LO so be as reprobate as possible !! Daggie! Daggie !Daggie! WHAT are we going to do with you ?? TWO apple pies ?? At the rate you are misbehaving I think you'd better bake at least a dozen !!! Baby sisters can be quite sensitive I know ..I have one too (in Tasmania !!) I LOVE your avatar JaeDee ..it makes me smile everytime I see you enveloping those tiny scraps with such love !! You must be missing them so much but what a blessing and precious memories you now have ! How're you doing Carma ?? You are too quiet ..that makes me uneasy ...report in often , even one line !! Thoughts are with you big time ! Happy anniversary tomorrow Deb ..WTG !!! Hope you do it in style ! How's our littlest princess doing Kim ?? Does Gav-man still think she's okay ?? 4 days old !!!!!!!!!! Bless it !! Our Emily was here earlier and we painted her tiny foot with pink paint to scan and scrap and laminate etc etc .She was NOT impressed !! LOL ..what a mess ............ I can't believe my good luck ! Have had FULL internet coverage for 2 days in a row ..do you think this can last ??!! Must be all your warm wishes !! PEACE out all and chocolate kisses for everyone especially poor Daggy who's family now disown her !!!
Will everyone please offer a little prayer for a friend who is having cancer surgery on Monday? Thanks.
To add tension to extreme stress, the surgery was postponed until today. Another round of good thoughts and prayers will surely do the trick. Thanks for being so supportive. :)
...having married a widower way back in 1988 before he even thought of grandchildren. I have no children of my own but now I have 6 stepgrandchildren ranging in age from 16 to 2 months.
But these are children of your heart -- biology doesn't always enter into nurturing and rearing children. I think you can safely drop the "step." :)

Laura Lou, I love, love, love that LO and journaling -- very classy!!
How does the heritage chat work? I have a lot of old family pictures and have been curious when so many of you mention the heritage stuff.
Must admit that I've only attended one chat -- and that was to get a freebie from Bethy! :o I was absolutely lost in that one but assume something like tonight's chat wouldn't be quite so wild. Maybe I'll see you there if I can get a LO together. :)

Thank you so much ladies for your hearty welcome - I KNOW I'm gonna love it here hanging out with you guys, why didn't I find you sooner?.
Thanks for the explanation on the RCG I thought is might be Rocking Grandma's Club - well you all rock to me anyway. And the leaking bit, I thought at first might be something to do with incontinence but then I saw YH's LO (which is fantastically fabulous) and realised what you mean.
Regarding drinking of wine - you know since I started scrapbooking in May this year, I don't drink while I'm scrapping - I found I would happily be working away on a LO with a nice glass of red wine to keep me company then in the morning when I woke up and went to admire my work, I'd be horrified at how many mistakes I could find - nothing as drastic as the mat stuck on top of the photo, but maybe a 3cm boarder on one side and an 8cm on the other, how did I manage that? or had someone been hacking my PC?
Lemme tell you a bit about me since you all so generously shared about yourselves. I'm going to be 55 in a couple of weeks, I work for local government in England. I have one daughter who I adopted when she was 5weeks old - she is now 23 and presented me with a beautiful grandson on 3rd May this year. They live about 4.5 hours drive away but I try to drive down south to visit with them every 6 weeks or so. About a month before Kade was born I went to visit DD and met her new neighbour who showed me a scrapbook album that her mum had made for her and I loved the idea. I already was into cardmaking and I soon switch and got addicted right away. Then I found digi scrapping and I love it even more. I sometime print off my LO's as 8x8s and glue them to 12x12 papers and add some 'real' embellies - that way I don't feel so guilty about having all this stash and not using it.
Well thats all from me for now - I'm off to look at the heritage thingy as I have some lovely baby LO's that I did for heritage theme week. Will check in again later. ((((((((((((cyber hugs to everyone)))))))))))))

Dags, I think you should definitely bake the apple pies in bulk and freeze, it is obvious you are going to need more of them as time goes by!!!
Welcome Cathie Marie and welcome back Helen. CathieMarie, we RGCers have licence to leak whenever and from wherever we feel the urge:D:D. Rockin' Grandma's name suits this group too, but I just love Kim's Leaks R US gem!! This group is wonderful, we leak a lot, laugh a lot, cry a lot, splutter a lot (when we read the funnies with a mouthful of coffee) but what we do BEST, is support each other every day in every way!! We all check out each other's galleries as often as possible and make comments, we cheer on our contest participants (NKOTB and DET), give support in voting polls, facilitate techie stuff, such as blinkies (Deb is our resident techie:)). Hop right on in and enjoy! Hope you all have lots of wrinkles and flab just so I will feel comfortable:D:D
I haven't updated my details for the recent newcomers (we used to have a Who's Who but took it down in the interest of security, after we read a very timely warning from Omi about internet security - we then grabbed her and dragged her over into this thread and have loved her ever since) I am 61, live in Australia with Hubby of over 40 years, mother of three children and grandmother of 8 ranging in age from 13 to 2, including two sets of twins! These 8 figure prominently in my gallery and they are all the most gorgeous of kids (and I am not one-eyed at all). I, like Daggie and Ineke, love to line dance (but I don't think I can keep up with them, they are much younger of course), I love reading, used to crochet and do hardanger embroidery before digi scrapping took over, and spending time with the grandkids. I started digi scrapping in August 2006, after finding this site while searching the internet for tutorials to help me learn my PSP programme. I have never paper scrapped and just love the "no mess" style of digi scrapping. I am addicted and spend too many hours at the computer (if I spent less time in this thread I would get more layouts done, though:)) This thread and its peoople are just as addictive as the scrapping!
Thanks for the Kleenex alert re YH's NKOTB layout Kay, definitely need extras for that!! Terrific job yhalos!!
LL, I just KNOW I made comment on your mystery baby layout before today, I can remember what I wrote about it, but where did it go? Or have you got two versions of that layout in your gallery? Or am I having a senior moment? No, I DID comment on it before!!!! Strange!
Thinking of you and your friend OMi, makes it harder when that happens!
Happy Anniversary, Deb, it is Wednesday here but probably still Tuesday where you are, time thingys are very confusing for me, but the wishes are just as warm!
Kay, it is SO lovely having your chatty, funny, loving posts back in here again.
If you go AWOL again, we will all join forces and seek you out!!! Be warned!!!
Hope you are having lots of "hands on" with the gorgeous little Mia, Kim! She is a beautiful baby.
Have a great day everyone!
JaeDee

Okay I havent read all the post yet but Heritage chat is on WEDNESDAY NIGHTS at 10 PM EST. Still time to get those Heritage baby LO's in.
Thank you for the kind words, evergreen. :o  Now, since I've preached security, let's see how much info I can share without having my eyes roll back in my head.
I live on the West Coast of the US, have been married 40+ years to the love of my life, am the mom of a son and daughter, second mom to their spouses (whom I adore), and grandmother to five princesses and one motorcycle dude. The grandchildren (although I do like Kay's term of grandmonkeys) range in age from 4 to 19.
Never paper-scrapped because it didn't interest me. Since I've been addicted (literally, I think!!! ) to computers for more than 35 years, I fell in love with digital cameras and digital scrapping as soon as they crossed my radar. The RCGers have recently started pulling me out of my comfort zone (as you can probably tell I'm quite shy) so I hope to start posting more layouts in the future.
Unfortunately, I simply can't relate -- as hard as I try -- to one of evergreen's statements, though. I personally still have the face and figure of a 21-year-old. :D [There's really only one wee problem -- there's a helluva OLD lady hiding in my mirror and she keeps getting in my line of sight.]
(This message literally will self-destruct in a few days -- the paranoia is getting better by the day but, since the search engines really love this site .....

Our Heritage chat is my favorite chat on this site. It is the one I dont miss.
Each week we chose a theme. This week it is Heritage Babies. You do a LO about the theme then post the LO in Meryl's heritage Album Scrap & Chat Wednesday 10 - 11 p.m EST (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2748&highlight=meryl) (oops thats the forum but you can link to the gallery) and it is entered into the judging. Those people who come to the chat vote for their favorite LO in a private window to Meryl. The winning LO gets a free kit from the store (I thing Meryl pays for it). Then we decide on a theme for the next week. It is always a fun chat and a fun way to get some of your heritage photos scrapped.
Gotta run!!

thanks JaeDee for the information on the heritage chat. I might have to jump into this one!
Omi, you are way too funny today! That same old lady keeps jumping in front of me in my mirror too! Love the "message will self-destruct" bit.
Well, darn -- I have plans for a lot of Wednesday nights, including tomorrow. If you guys will let me know what the themes are, though, I'll try to do the LOs. I need something like that to keep me on track. IOTW has helped by bribing me with a free add-on. :p

Kay what a funny story you tell in Ladies over 40...and that last quote about buying the pig....YIKES that one is great. So good to have you back with us, hope you can check in more often. Has to be hard having the service you now have.
Been off for a couple of days, Spent 7 1/2 hours in the Emergency room yesterday, they are having problems keeping hubby's BPressure steady it is pretty low. Today have Dr. appointment and more on Thursday. No one can make decisions as to what to do, he is in horrific pain, I have him home as they don't know what to do with him...LOL....they would give him his pills like I do. It is hard to see that much pain. But I truly think he is better off here with me, I don't prod or poke him. I got him to eat a bit more today, 20# lost in 24 days has been too much. So nice to see new people here, Welcome and enjoy yourselves here, we have a lot of talented people here and alot of caring people. Keep on scrapping ladies. More later.

Hello all u RGCers at Leaks R Us!! Doing some catchup reading here, I check several times during the day and there arent many new posts, but boy come evening I'm behind again, LOL...
I've been here about a week now and I never gave the bio... sooooo sorry :o
I've enjoyed reading everyone elses, makes everyone feel more real, wish I had a way with words like Kay, but anyway...
I'm Lindy Rose, 50.5, I have 3 grandchildren, 10, 7, and 5. A son and a daughter. We live in eastern Ohio, by we I mean my daughter and I bought a house together as she's a single mom, so I pitch in helping with my 10 yr old GS and we both have a house to live in now. At the moment she's going to the police academy... wow the moves she's laying on us! LOL. We have one Leaky CAT named Gussie, ( she gets blamed on the noisy leaks, but for real right now her eyes are leaking, I hope to heaven she's not sick) and a beagle named Brandie who is banned from the house for leaking anywhere she pleased.
A nice warm welcome to all the newcomers, the RGCers are great at making us newbies feel welcome, thank u all and hugs too.

I'm loving these introductions. So here's mine. I live in pretty small town in northern Utah. I've been married for 34 years to a great guy who encourages my scrapping!!!!! I have 3 DS and 3 awesome DILs. One son, most of you know, lives in Japan with his wife and sweet grandson who just return after a wonderful visit. I'm so blessed to have the other families close by. One son has a wonderful little girl, and the other son has two amazing little boys--all the joy of my life. I'm still working as a school librarian--1/2 the week in an early childhood center and the other 1/2 the week in an alternative high school. It's opposite ends of the spectrum in education, but I love it.
I never paper scrapped but am having a wonderful time doing this digi stuff--and learning something new from other scrappers LO's everyday!!
Carma my thoughts are with you girl!! Apple pie anyone!!!

Deb....I love how you called us copycats...lol. Thanks for the compliment on the avatar....but i think yours is way cool!!!
Heritage Chat.....i can't even get the time to sit at the computer to scrap, but wish we could all get together at a decent time to chat somewhere. Wed nights are bad for me too (girls night out) and not sure I could keep up with you all anyways!
Omi ..i think we are all looking in the same mirror!
Dag...you did it again? oh goodness girl ...better make the dozen and freeze them like Jill says.
Would love to comment on the rest of you but i'm so tired i'm off to bed. It has been a long day. Stayed home with two sick grandkids today and they wore me out! Going to check Yh's LO with tissue and then lights out for me.
hugs all
stay well ...carma!

You are allright by me Daggie!! especially after you dropped off all those yummy chocolates at my place .. I just love those white Flakes, they are the best, I can feel them sitting on my hips already. You ladies all have to settle with cyber chocolates from Daggie, but I get the real thing!!! If I knew how to bake an apple pie I would help you out, but they are not specialty, sorry! You were probably too busy worrying about how to get all those chocolates to me that you plum forgot your sister, blame it on me I reckon!
Ryan improving every day, although he has now developed some horrific ulcers in his mouth, I think it must be due to the fact that he is run down because of all the antibiotics they have been and still are pumping in to him:rolleyes:
Carma sorry to hear that Dick is stil in such pain, how horrific for him, dont give up though!
I really cant keep up with this thread, I want to do a layout with the IOTW so that I can get the bonus, but I just dont seem to be able to find the time!
I love all the stories and antecdotes that have been posted, I especially like the remark about feeling like a 21 year old and why does this tired middle aged woman keep getting in front of her in the mirror.. too true!!
Welcome to all the new grannies, My name is Ineke, I am married with 2 sons aged 29 and 26 and one furry grandson named Max (German Shepherd). My youngest son was recently in hospital and passed a kidney stone which had caused him a lot of problems, and in my excitement I announced that I had become granny to a bouncing "Grandstone" but I dont think it really counts.

I have a few minutes so I can stop in and welcome the new grandmas. I am in my late 60s and we will celebrate our 50th anniversary this next summer. We have two daughters, one son, four grandsons and one granddaughter. The grandchildren range in age from 23 years down to 10 years. They are perfect of course! We live in southern California. I have never scrapped before but have seen some of my daughters paper layouts. My niece insisted that I try digital scrapbooking and I immediately became addicted. This thread is very addictive as well but in such a good way!
The person Omi mentioned who was having surgery today is my 43 year old daughter. She has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. I was not able to talk about it before tonight, it was just too scary. The surgery went well and we just hope for clear margins so no other treatment will be necessary. Since both my husband and I are cancer survivors, this was a little scary for it to be our daughter. She sounds good tonight and is in no pain. Thanks for your support Omi and everyone else. It will take several weeks to get results. She is being treated at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and they are the best.
I am working on a heritage layout with a baby, so will jump right in and attend the chat tomorrow night. I hope it is a little slower paced than the one with Bethy!
I'm thinking of you Carma. It is so good to see Kay back here! Thanks again for all of your support.
Freda, I'm so glad things went well!!! These reprobates prayed up a storm for your DD and it sounds like our prayers were answered. I hope she gets test results back quickly so you can all breathe a big sigh of relief. Thanks for the update.

Good Morning ladies...of course as I say this you most of you are probably getting ready for bed. First of all, it's good to hear from you Carma. Sorry
you had to rush off to emergency but so glad he is back home. You know our prayers are with you and yours. Ineke, I'm soooooo jealous that you get to
have some "real" pie, I'd have to travel pretty far to get some. Also glad that
Ryan is feeling better, I'm pretty sure those sores are from the antibiotic, theycan take a real tole on your body. Thank you all for the wonderful CC's
on my LO for NKOTB. I must say I was leaking like crazy while I was doing it. I tell you, I still can't read it without the leads. Daggie, I hope your sister has forgiven you and enjoyed her pie. I'm going to try and make the Heritage chat tonight. So, I'm off to find some baby pictures ,although I don't think I have any. Be back later..to check in on my favorite group of
chics. I always wondered who that was staring back at me...lol.

Just popped in for a moment girls and can't stay.. 2 grandbabies in the house at the moment... Freda I am so glad DD's surgery went well.. Continued prayers for continued good news.. Strength to you and your family... Carma, sweetie, big hugs, more prayers... Yhalos will try to get back on this evening to check out your NKOTB LO.. Hey did any of you hear about the grandmother who gave birth to her own grandchild? In Japan I think..Daughter couldn't carry her own, so her fertilized egg was implanted in her Mom. Talk about the ulimate sacrifice.. LOL..I was almost 40 when my Madison was born... All your "typical preggo" symptoms are magnified and combined with all your "I am growing old" symptoms..And I can tell you those pushing muscles ain't what they were at 20 ether :D :D :D ... Anyway thought it was a pretty touching story and loving sacrafice... Hey that old lady in the mirror really gets around.. Saw her just this morning in my mirror...Hugs all!

Freda your daughter has been in my prayers and I have kept her in my thoughts, I am so glad that her surgery is over now and hope that she will not have to have more treatments. What a relief. I will continue to keep her in my prayers, it all helps I know.
Hubby is resting, I am now weighing him and doing the blood sugars every day as they have taken him off of his diuretics for a few days to see if his BP will get back to normal. They cannot give him any new pain meds until it is stable. 1 dr. appointment yesterday and 2 tomorrow.
So nice to see some new names in the thread, This is a great bunch of ladies, and we all have the best grand kids in the world. Which reminds me our GGS is in pediatric ICU right now has been since Sunday.
I think my family is being tested right now. We will not give up the faith, so the testing can move on as far as I am concerned. The Sun Will Come UP Tomorrow!

Well, Freda's daughter minded us very well, but I think Carma's DH is still being contrary -- these men! ;)

So i've kept notes on the side of my computer since i've done a sticky beak into this thread in the first place. I can only note so much. It is as bad as having to keep up with this thread. So now i've just kept notes on who's who' in the need of prayer and thoughts. So....your all there. Freda's daughter,Yh, Carma's husband, Kims friend, and Ineke's Ryan. Did I forget anyone?
Oh ..i do believe we might need one for Dag....bless her forgetful soul! I must admit i've done things like this in the past. Can't remember what they were...but do remember i've screwed up along the way!
As far as looking at that other woman in the mirror??? Every morning I see my mother looking back at me! ....it's almost scary..no no ..not almost, it IS! The only difference is my fat cheeks are a little fuller than hers were.....LOL.
My mother died when she was 57 and wasn't doing very well in the take care of your skin and wrinkle area....hmmmm i'm thinking i'd better call Oil Of Olay and see if they can do a specialty repair job??
Diginelli...good go see you again!
Where do you all get those avatars that fade in and out and move etc.
Deb...i like the halloween one....are you making them?
I want one for Christmas....preferably one with flashing xmas tree lights and a star on top. Can it have merry christmas on it too? (laughing here).
ok ..got one grandchild here...can't spend too much time. Going away for Tomorrow night for the weekend. See you all Monday.
Oh..Oh...HAPPY ANIVERSARY!! one day late!

This thread caught my attention with the note, "attention to grandmothers." I am a Mimi to six wonderful grandchilren ranging in age from 7 to one year. I read back several days worth of notes and it is clear to me that you are a great group of women. I'd like to know if I can join your group?

This is a note for Freda- I have been a patient at MD Anderson and agree that your daughter is in good hands. I had several surgeries at MDA so I know that place well. I too am a cancer survivor. In fact, I am scheduled to have testing done this Saturday to verify that I am still in remission. I will continue to keep your daughter in prayer. I hope all is well and that the margins are clear, I hate cancer!!!
I'm still sorta new to this group (though getting more firmly entrenched by the day) but I already know the group answer will be "Welcome, Mimi!!!" :D (You'll fall in love with this bunch.)

Mimi, I think u just did... join the group that is... :)
I'm new too, but the girls here are the best with encouragement, prayers, laughs, and talent. Welcome to the RGCers...Reprobate Grannies Club.
Thoughts, prayers, and GREAT BIG HUGS, going out to those in need.
I think I should start note beside the pc too... sure can't keep up with al that's going on here, course they'd get mixed up with all the LO note I keep too... then the Cat would knock them all off to the floor and roll around on them and I still wouldn't know what was going on, LOL...
I just took a stab at doing an OOB layout, couldn't stand it any more... I love those! so here's my first attempt at it:

thanks and welcome Mimi, I hope your testing shows that you are still in remission! Yes, cancer is awful. I was lucky to find mine early and only needed a mastectomy. I'll be thinking of you. I know how these tests go, no matter how hard we try not to be, we are still concerned until we find out we are still cancer free!

My goodness, I last visited here only yesterday, and now there are two more pages of posts added!! We sure do talk a lot in this thread, isn't it wonderful???
A big welcome, Mimi :):) . Hope you are ready for this lot:D They get up to some questionable activities on numerous occasions (leaking prodigiously from wherever and whenever is a prerequisite for the group. Do you leak???:D) but they are all so supportive and caring and FUN and just the BEST group of people! So jump right on in and enjoy. Several of us have given short bio's about ourselves in the thread recently so you probably "know" us already. I will visit your gallery soon!
Freda, so glad your daughter's surgery was successful and thinking of you as you wait for the results, good on you Omi for cryptically drawing our attention to the situation! Kim, do we all know this person who is having surgery? I am so concerned it might be one of us??!?!?! Thoughts, prayers and hugs are going that person's way right now. And Carma, how typical it is to see your concern for others as you struggle through your own problems, I do hope something is resolved for you and your hubby soon!
Lindy, your poor cat gets blamed for everything!!:D You have done a great job on your OOB layout, I have only done one of those (in the last challenge) -my extraction skills are not very good nor are my OOB skills for that matter:D I will try again though, I d/l the freebie frames and they are sitting there awaiting attention! Too too slow am I.
I will try to get around the galleries today. Have a good one everyone!

Goodness me, yackida yack yak, five pages I have to catch up on now. Couldn’t open up DSP last night, was off line for ages, and I was starting to fret. I have been so busy baking apple pies, now I have to hand deliver it to my sister, along with roses and chocolates just for good measure!!!! But before I do that I’m off to work….will have to read what everybody has been up to when I get home……stay safe all

The way Heritage works is that you don't HAVE to do a layout to vote secretly for your favorite. The winner gets a coupon for a kit. Meryl always explains how to vote. Then the chatters choose a theme for the next week. I think we already decided to do "Organizations" for next week, but sometimes we change our minds. Churches, brotherhoods, unions, clubs, etc. that someone in our heritage belonged to.
Glad to hear from you, daggie. We were afraid the family had exacted some horrible punishment on your poor self.....

hello girls, I just have to share this with you all, guess where I have been this evening (remember I'm 5 hours ahead of DSP time. I had a phone call from one of my girl friends this afternoon to say she had 4 FREE ticket to see TOM JONES live, well I didn't need to be asked twice I can tell you. He was sensational - can't wiggle those hips like he used to but man I'm all souped up here.
Been thinking about you all that need prayers and I've been on the hot line with the One, asking Him to pour out his grace upon you all. HTH.
About that little old lady in the mirror, she gets in my way but I only get a glimps of her when I have my specs on by which time she's wearing make up so doesn't look too bad anyway. You know someone once said your eyesight starts to fail when ya git to 40, mine did. Then your hearing starts to fail at 50, mine did. They say when you get to 60 you start popping off all over the place, not looking forward to that - but the bummer is you don't start to loose yer sense of smell 'till you reach 70. Hope that brought a smile to your face. Catch you all later, I'm off to swoon over my new Tom Jones CD.

Welcome, Mimi! I think you'll get the hang of us right away! BTW when I first joined, I had to send a lot of chocolate around the world. I think we need to reinstate that as soon as possible!
Cathie -- I saw Tom Jones on TV for a brief moment on something recently. I can't remember what it was. GREAT voice still! How fun!
OK I've had a few days off work just for fun. Unlike some of you that travel extensively, I really enjoy taking time off to just put my feet up at home in front of the computer :). Anyway I spent just a little time today on a SMALLER (yeah!!!) blinkie for us. I kept Snappie but I had to give up the smiling Snappie. Also kept Freda's lovely snapdragons -- but had to posterize them -- still lovely (I hope!!?!). And best of all, there is a subtle frame or two with RGC on it. I used Nancy /Cybergram's font for those frames -- how cool is that! That RGC part goes by really fast and if we want to be more obvious, I'll add a few more frames to that section.
I tested it and it will fit in our signature-blocks. SO.... give this a look and share some comments. I can change it up and, believe me, I'm really thick skinned when it comes to this stuff -- I know there could be tons of improvements. And thank you, Omi and Freda and Jill and I think a couple others, who had some ideas on this a few weeks ago that I put into this (smaller, with RGC in there). I'm going to try to put a link in here that takes you to the blinkie -- but since I've got it stored in something outside DSP galleries, not sure if this will work. Here goes ...

I'm so glad to be a part of this fun group. Evergreen, in answer to your question, nothing leaks yet. All spare parts (gallbladder, one kidney, part of another kidney, ovaries, uterus) have been removed, does that count? I literally turned 40 and went downhill. The day of my 40th surprise party I ended up in the hospital. So nothing leaks but it's all rusty, dinged and achey. So the thought of being part of a group that can pray and play in the same breath is my kind of group. I like to laugh and it looks like you guys do too!
Evergreen, you said you'd like to look at my gallery, I'm afraid you'd be disappointed. I am very new to scrapbooking, I've only made a total of three lo. I'm new to scrapping and to forums. I'm also new to blinkies, as you see I have none. Where do you get them and how to you post them or add them? That probably sounds like a dumb question since all of you have them, but, when I say I'm a newbie, I really mean it. I have no idea where you get them. I would really like to dress up my signature, I feel naked. Any advice?
Just had to pop in and say my prayers are with you Kay. Hope all goes well and you are back with us soon. God Bless.

I was so worried that it might have been Kay that Kim was referring to - Kay I am thinking of you and wishing you well, great big hugs that you come through this with flying colours, I am so totally sure that you will!! Ineke do you have another beautiful rose that we can cyber send to Kay??? Daggie, chocolates??apple pies??? anything to make her feel loved and cheerful??? Wen, gorgeous cosmetics?? Deb, a special blinkie?? Maybe all she needs is just our combined thoughts and prayers all winging their way to her through cyber space . Kay, we love you, this thread needs you, I need you, good luck with the surgery and your recovery!!

I am still on my knees praying, but don’t worry about me I am very comfy, I have my sons skateboard knee pads on. Kay, tell me when it safe to get up again. Freda, sorry I must have missed the post about your DD but what a relief that it is all behind you now and you and your DD can now move forward. Carma more cyber hugs to you too.
I was pleased that Kay warned me about tissues before I read yhalos – NKOTB lastest entry. What wonderful grandparents and that journaling, tissue job for sure.
A warm welcome to Lindyroz, CathieMarie and Mimi2six, have you been warned….Leaks R Us!!!! If I have left anyone out sorry but it is getting so hard to keep up….Helen was lovely to here from you again….
Lindy, you mentioned a DSP newsletter….what this?…never heard of one…tell me more…I just love a good read…especially about SBing
Kim, we are not getting Desperate Housewives here, I think we are only up to series 2 or 3 (can’t remember it has been sooo long since it was last on) how far behind are we?
That old lady in the mirror has moved on from here, I steamed up the bathroom mirror and refused to look in the others in my place so she left in a huff, maybe she is at your place?
Roll call, me married, 28 years, 2 boys, one married with my only grandson, but they live thousands of klms away, one still at home and his girlfriend is here most of the time as well, and one Cairn Terrier. I am one very lucky girl as hubby went shopping a little while ago and brought a couple of around the world plane tickets for next June. Only thing is, I have to keep working to pay for the damn things:rolleyes: . Hands up who wants a visit. We are going to Las Vegas, Anchorage, Alaska, New York, Toronto, Washington, England and home via Singapore…ooooph, must have left one out as there is nine stops…
Deb, you clever little thing you, just love the new blinkie:D , could we have it a bit slower please so all the world can see that we are RGC’ers and very proud to be!!! Some else mentioned a Christmas avator…maybe Deb could put a Christmas hat on snappy at Christmas time?
Kay, can I get of my knees soon……. I am quite comfy but I am having trouble reaching the keyboard

I have just spent the last hour trying to find the entry about using titles for links instead of the URL address... finally found it around page 80 I think, now I have the tutorial which really doesnt make a lot of sense to me, but I will try it anyway, if this works it means you should see the layout I did about our exciting outing the other day... here goes

Me help!!!! I am sure it was only by chance that I got it right, I copied Debs instructions out and had to read and reread them 10 times before I could make any sense of them. Did you remove the spaces!!!!!
1. Type the following 5 characters (no spaces; I had to add one just now behind the 'L' in order to upload the comment -- you need to remove that space): [url :D =
2. Do your normal thing to go and get a copy of the layout address (open 2nd window, go to your layout, right-click and copy the address; you know -- the usual).
3. Come back to your original spot and paste your address right after that = sign.
4. The rest is super easy. Just a bunch of typing. Here is what you type (again no spaces in here -- start typing that bracket right after the url address you just pasted in here & again remove the space that I had to insert behind that last 'L'):
]My super-duper layout that you'll want to see[/url:D ]
I have replaced spaces with smilley faces....everyone repeat after me...don't forget to remove spaces and don't use :D faces

I think you can use quotes here to show url tags...if not I'll either look really dumb or I'll delete my post. Anyway, if this works, your entry will look like this:
{url=urladdressofyourposting]Title[/url]
ok that didnt work. Here's another example, just use [ instead of { at the beginning.

Awwww man you gals are just the best… Kay has to be doing just dandy with all our collective prayers bouncing about…Dag & Jill you are just full of great ideas, Knee pads while you bribe the big guy with apple pie and Chocolates.. Love it! !!!! Now why didn’t I think of that. Definitely seems in order these days doesn’t it.. Jill I went to bed last night scratching my head about you…. LOL… Should have known you just missed the post on Kay… I know I felt like a flake when I discovered I had somehow over looked Omio’s post on Freda’s DD.. I hope none of us ever gets hurt feelings over something being over looked in here… It’s darn hard some days to keep up.. All in all think Kay is in good hands… But sure will be glad to “hear” it so to speak from her own finger tips…
Finally got to read through the “4” pages posted yesterday… Looks like we have some new funny bones that have jumped on board the Leaks R Us ship… Cathie, and Lindy Tom Jones, and clean houses…. LOL….Lord haven’t heard anything about Tommy boy since… well it’s been a long time.. I use to love his show when I was a kid… All those screaming females fainting in the crowd just fascinated me… Jill I am still laughing about your panty tossing comment.. Lindy a dirty house is a pre-requisite for scrapping and hang with this leaking bunch… My 10 year old has even tried giving me grief over the dusty shelves … I gave her dusting rag and instructions… She now sees the beauty in those dust bunnies.. But a maid is a rather nice thought…
I get such a kick out of the fact that our crazy American shows are being watched all over the world… Even if it is a bit behind…. Dag I am not going to spoil the up and comings of DHW for you.. You will just have to be patient… But I must agree with whoever said they need to get with spicing it up a bit.. Kind of a slow beginning but still funny as heck.. I recently asked Kay if she thinks we Americans gals are like those on Wisteria Lane.. We are you know….Just kidding…
:D :D :D Las Vegas:D :D :D …. Yeah Baby!!! Love Vegas… You will have to tell me exactly when you will be there.. It’s only 4 hrs from here!!!!! I will be there waiting with our umbrella decorated drinks ordered:D :D :D .
Ok need to scat.. Hugs everyone…

Think you and your rusty banged up parts will fit in just fine....Gail are you new with us or have we seen you around this thread before... LOL.. Think it's time I made a list... Welcome or welcome back.. Which ever works :+)...Hang in there Ineke and Jill with the linky thing...If I can do it I promise it can be done!

Dear Sweet Kay, My thought and prayers are with you, I am so thankful that they have found the problem and hope that it can be resolved as easily as possible. You are such a stable person for all of us and share so much and give, give, give, to each of us. Love all the comments on the LOs and the funny leaky things you share with us over the thread. Again, My biggest prayers and hugs go out to you. My church has a special place to put names in for prayers and your name will go in today to our Temple. We all love you and wish you a speedy recovery. Remember....The Sun Will Come Up Tomorrow.

Okay you guys I'm so excited, I have to let my new friends in on this, I just won 1st place in the NKOTB second round. Oh my gosh, it feels like a joke. This is only my third lo ever. I can't believe it. When I got the announcement I thought it was a joke, I went to the forum to verify that it was for real, LOL!
I wasn't going to enter the 2nd round because I thought, and I am, way over my head. I think it was a fluke. Now I have to do the third round and I don't have a clue where to begin. It's a heritage lo and I'm lost, lol. Well here's my winning lo, maybe I'll stop there and go out on a wining note, just kidding. Anyway here it is:

thanks Carma, she is okay now we are justing hoping for clear margins so that no further treatment will be needed. How is your DH? I hope they solve his problem soon. That is hard with diabetes to deal with as well. I know since I am diabetic as well. Be sure to take of yourself, remember to eat when you should to control your diabetes.
Mimi that is a great layout, I can see why you won. You are off to a great start with scrapping. It will become easier as you go along. You certainly have the talent! You will come up with something for the next round, just think about it. I love heritage LOs.

Thanks Freda and Carma :)
Actually, I think the only REQUIREMENT for this thread is a good sense of humor. Since you've gotten this far, you definitely qualify!! :D
And, speaking of a sense of humor, I do believe it's time to inject some. After all, laughter still is the best medicine, especially for a woman like our friend Kay. :p
Why, Why, Why
Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?
Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough?
Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
Why doesn't glue stick to the bottle?
Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?
Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?
Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?
Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?
Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?
If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?
Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?
Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?
Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?
Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?
Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?
How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?
When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?"
Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?
How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?
The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you

Had to have a chuckle Evergreen when I read your comments on my Healesville outing layout - you hoped the day was healing and peaceful.... well I hate to say it was nothing like that at all, although in the end we did have a nice and adventurous day. I thought I would get myself all prepared the night before before it was a reasonably long way to go and Ryan still wasnt all that well, so I looked up the directions on the internet, printed of a map with road by road instructions, prepared some bird food by soaking bread in water and honey.... I was quite proud of myself!
Collected my sister in the morning and told her she was going to be the navigator, so to make sure to bring her glasses!... the map stated the trip would take 1 hour 2 minutes to reach our destination.. I dont know if they might have meant by carrier pigeon because 2 hours later we were still on the road trying to find these birds, at one stage we were on a dirt no-through road as per our instruction.... we saw a person come past on a motorbike, wearing a fluorescent type jacket, so we thought he was the postman and decided to follow him, it turns out he was a tourist from Canada, scaling this very steep dirt road to get a better picture of the view!!
We finally made it into Healesville, by this stage Ryan was starting to complain that he really didnt like this outing much, so we placated him with coffee and off we went again in search of the birds... Found the park after a few short kilometres, Ryan decided to do some investigating of the park, didnt see a storm water drain and backed the wheelchair off the side of it, almost tipping himself out of his chair.. my heart nearly stopped!!
We then coached the birds out of the trees to feed them, they took one look at my food and spat it out, luckily there were some other people there who had wisely brought store bought bird seed and kindly shared that with us, so the moment was saved.
We then decided to have some lunch at the local cafe, Ryan ordered a sausage roll on which he then choked, causing coughing fits and congestion on his chest. By this stage we were all ready to go home, I did the 2 hour drive back with the afternoon sun glaring through the windscreen right in my eye.. we tried to follow the map in reverse order of course by gave up!
Got home at 7pm that evening and Ryan told me he didnt want to go on any more long outings with me... I cant understand why - can you!!!

Oh, Ineke, and u had such good intentions, well, it was time spent together for the three of u, so all's not lost. But what an adventure to be sure. And I just got to see the layout and it's FANTABULOUS, I can't believe the birds are that friendly and let u hold them, wow. I'm sure Ryan enjoyed that part of the never ending trip.
Uh oh, The DSP POLICE will be after us for stacking the votes at the Lotta Stuff poll...
Good Luck Yhalos! I was at ur gallery the other day, and oh my gosh, leaks again, so enjoyed ur LOs and the stories with them.
I think I have this huge thread licked !!! Two web pages open, the thread in one, and a reply block in the other! I'm so excited, I can respond as I read instead of getting sidetracked and forgetting!!
All these cards for kay are so pretty, and some of u even did it for a challenge, smart grannies:)

Well I am not a grandma yet (my oldest is just 15) but I confess I lurk in this thread quite often. Why? Well, because Grandma ladies are just about my all time most favorite people in the world!! ....... And precious Kay is on the top of the list as a 'favorite of all favorites!!' ;) :) Kay, my dear, please know that you are in my prayers. I trust God as a God of healing and miracles and I'm praying He will work both in your life my dear, dear friend.
And to all the other sweet Grandma ladies on this thread....you are each and every one of you my heros and you inspire with your grace, your kindness, your love and your creativity. I told the girls in the Fandango chat the other night that this is the best thread in all of DSP and I mean it!! You are all just wonderful! By your examples you are teaching me exactly how I want to be on that lucky day when I get to be a grandma myself. Big hugs to you all!!!

I saw an email with something about Kay being ill, so had to pop in and check out the fourm. Have had the flu and not been in a chat since last Thursday and haven't done a page since last Thursday or Friday - so have been totally out of the loop. I'm not quite back up to speed yet and not ready to get back into creating, so no card yet. I do however want to send all good thoughts, prayers and well wishes to Kay and her family. Welcome to all the new folks, too. Hopefully will be able to get back up to speed soon. This bug really knocked me on my behind.

Howard, how lovely of you to let us know Kay's progress. As you can see, she is a very popular and well loved member here. Actually, you sound as though you might fit well in here too judging by your funny comment "she looks like the wiring of our computer":D:D Give her my love and best wishes please and don't forget to tell her how she has turned DSP upside down over the last two days!! This thread has been running hot hot hot and the gallery is filling up with beautiful get well cards!
Please keep us up to date if you are able!

Now that little guy is down for his nap I had to share my crazy card making morning with you all… Last night after looking at so many beautiful Kay cards I went to bed feeling like a creative flop… Hadn’t a clue what to do or where to go with it.. I knew I couldn’t tackle it tonight.. Too bone tired… So off to bed I went… 3 AM my eyes pop wide open.. Oh you have to be kidding… I have an idea… It’s 3 AM for god sakes and I can’t go back to sleep for thinking about this card…. At 5 AM I gave up, and got up… Not that it was going to do me a bit of good…. I needed photos.. It’s still pitch dark outside…. I needed photos of roses…. What to do until then.. I know I‘ll at least set the page up and write out the sentiments… Ok well that took care of 45 minutes…. It’s still dark outside.. I make coffee, I pace a bit… I cuss the sun for taking too bloody long to come out… Yesssss….. it’s finally time.. Out I go, clippers in hand… Darn rose bushes are just about bare… Ok I find 4 that aren’t too bad… Snip, snip, snip, snip…. Snap a few photos and by this time my hubby’s up and looking out the window at his crazy wife in the yard at 7 AM snapping photos of half dead roses just shaking his head… Don’t stand there shaking your head” I say “get out here and take some photos for me“ …I throw the flowers on the ground, get my self and hubby all set up … Gosh darn it I am in my bunny sleepers.. Oh no this will not do.. Quick as bunny I run in the house, rummage through my closet, find this cute pair of strappies that I have not wore in so long they are covered in dust .. I dust them off and try to put them on... Darn it my feet are getting fat too… I managed to stuff them in, stomp out to the back yard, have hubby snap a few photos… Don’t like my pants in the photo…. I know I‘ll roll them up… Gosh darn it my legs aren’t shaved…. By this time hubby is really thinking I am ready for the Looney Bin…. "Stay put" I say…. I run in, grab the razor… rip the hair off the lower half of one leg, run back out … Snap, snap… Ok now I have my photos but I can’t get at my card cause it’s time to get breakfast, Maddy off to school, hubby off on his adventure and DGS out of trouble..v At last I find the time to sit down … I get DGS buzy with some toys and go at finishing… I hear the toilet seat clunk… Little Donny is not where I put him… Oh no someone didn’t close the bathroom door.. I am such a bad Grammy…. I am so determined to get this card made for Kay I let my little grandson have a bath in the toilet… LOL…Well at least it was flushed… Kay darling, my card to you was a true labor of love…Hugs

Oh Kim, this is just too funny! I thought I was the only one who wakes at 3 am with an idea for a layout! You need to do what I do, make lots of shots of roses when they are at their peak, then whenever you need them your hard drive is filled with pictures of roses! Your card is so perfect, well worth the effort. I know Kay will love it. My DGS Kevin used to come and get me to show me, if the bathroom door was left open. He is still a rule follower at 15. I wish I had him small again just for a little while. Enjoy your little one while you can, in no time he will be 6 ft. tall!
Kim, I think that wonderful card needs to become a two-page spread -- with this hilarious story right beside it. ;-}

Well just got word from Kay's lovely man... He writes..... Hi there, just back from a visit to Kay she has been a bit tired today but I am sure that is to be expected. Don’t worry about the ICU, her surgeon has her there because she has an epidural in to ensure that she has the best chance to heal. Her op was quite a big one (5.5 hours) so it is just precautionary and ensures that she gets the best possible treatment. She is better today than yesterday and her doctor is vary happy with her progress, Kay say’s he is rather gorgeous, (I can’t see it and he looks about 18) I did check up on him before the op and the medical fraternity here think he walks on water, so she is in good hands. Im not sure how your site works so will you please pass this on to all her friends. I love the card and the story behind it. Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful wishes. Howard
I was concern about ICU... Always thought it was the place for those who were having problems
What a peach of a man .... Big Cyber kisses from this old gran Howard... Super hugs for Kay!!!!!

Great news, thanks Kim for the update. That is a pretty long surgery!
Thanks so much for the info, Kim. The ICU part has been bothering me, too, but I didn't want to bring it up without more information. Sounds like Kay is in good hands and married to a man with a sense of humor to match her own. (Loved the "can't see it and he looks 18" re the surgeon.)

Thanks for the extra info Kim, and good on ya Howard -mmmuhhh, mmmuhhh (big cyber smooches) for getting the info to Kim! Yep, you definitely have the RGC sense of hujmour, must have rubbed off on you from Kay!! Pleased she is progressing to the gorgeous 18 year old surgeon's expectations. Love and hugs to you both.
Isn't it incredible what has happened in this thread over the past few days???The thread has been running hot (three more pages to read this morning when I got up), so many lovely cards in the gallery, so many prayers, thoughts and well wishes. You are an amazing group of people! Kay will need to buy Kleenex in bulk when she gets back to the computer again!
Loved your funny card story Kim, just goes to show how dedicated and loving you are towards Kay to experience all of that and still produce that unique and terrific card. It didnt fit into my screen and so i only saw the top bit at first and I was thinking Oh how lovely, beautiful roses for Kay, then scrolled down a bit and saw part of a leg (and a very sexy, slim, perfectly shaved leg at that) and a lovely slim nicely shaped ankle wrapped in those strappy sandals and thought - Interesting! AND THEN I scrolled the rest of the way and read the next bit, and now, well, here I am mopping up the monitor, the keyboard, the front of my dressing gown, the chair seat, the BACK of my dressing gown:D..... (i didnt obey the RGC rule "don't drink coffee whilst reading this thread" and I'm having a little leak problem as well:D:D)
G'day to everyone else, I am hoping to get to the galleries this weekend!

Oh my gosh!!! What a fun bunch of ladies!!! I'm soooooooooooooo glad that Kay is doing better and that she gets to look at a handsome Doc and that she has a Howard take care of her!
Kim that is too funny--I bet it was a little bit of a shock to realize that you had shaved your leg for another woman!!
I wonder how many stickybeaks happen every day from the 70,000 DPS members into our little corner of the site (was that proper useage).
Everyone have a marvelous weekend!!
Okay, ladies, we need to figure out who might make a trip to Anaheim, California after the holidays.
Know for sure that Margie, Lauren (long trip for her!), and Lisa Carter will be there, but Margie is being very tight-lipped about exact dates. I think she wants to be sure enough people will be there plus she's really enjoying teasing those of us who have a chance to go. :D (Looks like the movers and shakers have a meeting no matter what because Lauren and Lisa both say they've made reservations and Meryl is apparently mulling it over.)
Three of us RCGers are raring to go. Anyone else who lives close enough to consider a trip can read the details (what little there are) at http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17199. Won't it be fun for some of us to meet in person? :)
P.S. I'll be the one with the 21-year-old face and figure. (Well, maybe THREE 21-year-olds!)
There's a great Maxine at http://www.maxine.com. Go to Crabby Road.
Had trouble getting the actual link to show up, maybe because it's a Hallmark site. I tried to put it as my avatar but couldn't read the text -- Maxine says "There's a nip in the air. Lots of 'em actually. It's National Mammography Day." Hee, hee.

So good to hear that Kay is on the mending side now. Isn't her DH a dear? I just went back to one of the last posts that Kay did (turns out it was the day before surgery -- 10/17!) to see if I remembered this correctly: She described her DH as 'one of the BEST DHs ever'. Now I think we can all understand she wasn't exaggerating! THANK YOU, HOWARD!!!
Kim -- HILARIOUS!!! Loved the card; loved the story. Have a great weekend! Will miss you!
Everyone's cards are so cool. Can't wait for Kay's reaction to all this.
Carma, YH, Ineke's Ryan, Freda's DD, Robbie's flu-bug (yuk!) -- Hope all of you are also feeling hugged and prayed for too! Lots of specific needs. A wonderful, gracious God can handle them all.
Omi -- Are you really going to meet up w/ the DSP folks in January?? That would be so fun; won't work for me this year. Take tons of photos. And have enough fun for all of us. Please???

I really WISH I could make that trip to California but once in a decade will have to do it for me. I was lucky enough to go to CHA 3-4 years ago when I was with Scrapbooking.Com and it was quite an adventure. The convention itself isn't open to the public, but there are lots of "satellite" events surrounding it. The opportunity to meet DSP members is an event in itself and isn't Margie sweet to be planning something. If everyone has laptops maybe we stay-at-homes can join in the meeting cyberly...is that even a WORD?
I am still hoping that some RCGers can make it to the Mega Meet in Michigan in May.

Hi Ladies, Here is today’s Kay Bulletin. She is MUCH MUCH better today; I could see it the moment I walked into the ward. They have taken the drips out of her left arm and she can now scratch her nose, apparently important with an epidural. I was dispatched to the shop to buy earphones so she could watch TV. She does have one request for you all please don’t make the jokes tooo funny it hurts when she laughs. I took some of your messages for her to read – Kim’s caused the trouble. Bye for now thanks again for the messages and wishes. Howard

Thank you Kim for passing on the information from Howard about Kay, I'm so pleased she's doing OK - Her surgeon sounds yummy - bet she'll have some great stories to tell us when she's up and running again. I almost peed my pants laughing at the story of the card - I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who prowls the house at silly-o-clock thinking about LO's.
Omiof5 - thanks for the info about the trip to California - I've got myself quite excited about this. I am very seriously thinking about coming, is there any one out there willing to 'hold my hand'. It will be an enormous thing for me to fly in from England solo, but would find the confidence if I knew I had someone to show me the ropes when I got there. e.g. accomodation and getting around, I'd feel a bit vulnerable by myself. So if there is anyone who would be willing to be my buddy for a week I'd love to come.
I'm having a bit of scrappers block at the moment but must try to break thru and get a card up for Kay. Hope every one has a great weekend.

JaeDee, what path did you take to get to booth numbers? I keep getting "information coming soon."
Omi got to the site, select Exhibitors Information from the list on the left hand side and then from the drop down menu select floor plan, it takes a little while to load, then you will see a floor plan with a list of all exhibitors down the left hand side in alphabetical order.
Thanks, CathieMarie -- I had tried that but guess the site is one that won't play nice with Macs -- it came up on DH's PC.
Re Anaheim, I can't help much with travel plans and hotels, but I can certainly be a contact and help provide ground transportation. JaeDee and I already have plans to meet for dinner. :D

Good news about Kay! Thank you, Howard! .... Omi and Cathie and JaeDee and Meryl and others -- Oh, that sounds like SO much fun in January!! Wish we could all go! I liked someone's idea of staying cyberly connected while you are there! Definitely would be fun to have a 'chat' while you are out there???????
BLINKIES! Since we have lots of new old grannies (I'm one of 'us' so I can say that!!) and some grammies-in-training, we need to let everyone in on our blinkie. Plus we are no longer a secret RGC-group apparently now that we have Cybergram and Debb C and Meryl and some other famous DSPers that are amongst us or that lurk around us. Anyway, a smaller blinkie has been on order for awhile. Here's a couple versions:
-- A blinkie with a subtle well-wish for Kay from RGCers and DSPers
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/RoadMap/Blink-RGCver3Kay.gif
-- Same blinkie but for those of you that know Kay is going to be thoroughly disgusted that we have put her into a blinkie! This one does not have a well-wish in it for Kay (although we would all have that in mind without having to 'blink' it!).
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k140/RoadMap/blink-RGCver2opt.gif
Copy and paste into your signature block. I loved Daggie's idea of putting a smiley face into this -- so remove the Smiley-and-space when you put this line into your siggy-block. Oh, and CREDITS to -- Freda for the beautiful snapdragons; Nancy/ Cybergram for the font (along with Suzanne Walker!); and the RGCers for our kookie sense of humor!!!
Oh, and there is an added new feature in our blinkie this time around! Once this is in your signature block, if you select this blinkie, it links to our Granny-thread!!! It goes to the first page (sorry, can't figure out how to get it to the last page) -- but it is a good way to link fast into our little thread!!
And for those that really are techie (unlike me who is totally not -- but can do trial-and-error-and-error-and-error with the best of 'em), feel free to give better instructions!!!
Enjoy!
Oooohhhhh, love it, love it, love it!! Boy, is Kay going to be impressed -- thank you so much for all of your work!

Great job on the blinkie, you clever little trial-and-error techie Deb:)!! Let's see if I did it right..........woohoo, checked back at a previous post in a new window and there was circular Snappy blinking away merrily!!!! (Got that down, now I need to practise the linkie thingy)
(((((Howard)))))) , you are one terrific hubby to keep us updated on Kay's progress. So glad she is doing well! Give her my love and best wishes next visit to the hospital would you please?
Has daylight savings started in US yet?? Ours starts here next weekend. I missed the Freestyle Fandango chat, thought maybe the time had changed over there, but more than likely I just got it wrong (been known to happen on frequent occasions, specially where time conversions are concerned). Do you non USA RGCers use the world clock to convert DSP time to your own? Here is the link FYI http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html In the "convert from" drop down menu select USA Ohio Columbus, then your own time zone in the 'convert to" box. This has helped me to catch DSP events (didnt help me this week obviously, but I think that was more a memory lapse on my part)
Have a good weekend everyone

Hey, folks. If you picked up the blinkie sometime BEFORE the time on this post that I'm writing right now, you might want to swing back around to that former post of mine(#1461) (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=202323&postcount=1461) and pick up the script again. I figured out how to link the blinkie to our thread!!! So now we have a linkie-blinkie!!!

Love, love the blinkie Deb - thanks so much, you are a clever bunnie, I wish I could do these gifs. I will try to put the new one in my siggy that links to the thread, I have to do it by error and error and error, I don't know what I do but after several tries I get there eventually, after knocking other blinkies out etc etc.
Evergreen, we change our clocks in England next weekend the same as you, I'm not sure when USA do. I have a little travel clock sitting on my desk set to DSP time so I always know (don't have to do the math everytime I want to join chat - only prob with that is I tend to watch that clock rather than my own when I get on the DSP site and like now my clock is saying its almost 8:30 but really it's 1:30am and I really should be in bed. LOL)

We are all hoping for the best right along with you Freda. Even though we have all been rocked by Kay's news, I am sure none of us have forgotten the others in this thread who are enduring stressful times. My thoughts are with all of you!
Now, I need some advice:)
I need to buy a new camera, a high end point and shoot, with manual options (for when I get clever and learn how to use them,or for when the grandkids slow down enough for a planned shoot:))
I need one that takes really good photos on the auto setting
I need one that has a view finder as well as the LCD screen
I need one that uses SD cards (to make use of the ones I already have)
I want 6mp or more with about 6x optical zoom or more
Currently I am looking at Canon Powershot A710 IS, anyone know anything about these?
Also, do any of you buy from the online shops? I can save $100 by doing that but I am not sure how secure and trustworthy they are. Any suggestions (it would need to be an Aussie online store)
Good idea with having a clock set to DSP time Cathie. What a good excuse for scrapping until the wee hours (Oh, the clock said it was only 8.30pm:D)
There was another question Iwas going to ask but it has slipped through the senior sieve, I'll be back when I remember it:D

I am now trying to learn to use my new camera, a Sony cyber-shot DSC-H1. But that uses a memory stick. I am very happy with the Sony and am getting some great shots on fully automatic. Like you, I hope to someday learn more about manual settings. I know it will do so much more than I have learned to do with it and it has that super steady shot feature. I realize I am not going to get any more steady as I age! That is a feature that will be useful! Good luck in your camera search, that is such a hard decision!

I need one that uses SD cards (to make use of the ones I already have)
I want 6mp or more with about 6x optical zoom or more
I have recently bought a Sony DSC-H5 (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Sony/sony_dsch5.asp) which I am loving - and seems to fill your requirements :) Do take a moment to read A A Katz' excellent white paper on the Sony H1 (http://www.aakatz.com/h1whitepaper/) - but all advice applicable to the H5 as well - it is a wonderful resource, particulary if you want to look at the manual options :)

Oh lucky girls, what a hoot it would be, to be able to meet in Anaheim, sorry it is a bit to far from Oz land, my swimming is not what is use to be………CathiMarie I hope you do make it, sounds like a wonderful adventure. We will definitely have to stay connected some how while you are all there.
I have my DSP site set to DSP time, if you scroll down to the bottom of this page, the time displayed depends on what you have set in your user control panel. To change the time to show current DSP time and not your own home town time, go to your user control panel and click on Edit Options. Scroll down nearly to the end of page and in Date and Time Options, set time to (GMT = 5:00) Eastern Time (US @ Canada) Bogola, Lima. You can even set options to allow for daylight savings. Now there should be no excuses for being late or missing a chat ever again. Wish I can take credit for this but I read it in the forums somewhere, just cann’t find out where now.
Thanks for the blinkie Deb, you are one very clever:D :D :D RGCer indeed, what a surprise for Kay when she is up and about again. Freda pleased all is going well for your sister too.

Jill, I am going to buy a new camera sometime before my holiday and I am currently looking at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7, 6MP 12x Optical Zoom. Both Kay and Donut use this camera and Kay said she found the antishake feature a bonus. The camera is much cheaper on line, but I have a friend in charge of this for me. Can find more if you are interested.
Check it out here http://panasonic.com.au/products/details.cfm?objectID=3086

Freda, I feel so bad, on reading my messages, I haven't actually mentioned your daughter, with the shock of Kay, my easily sidetracked head and the excitement of Anaheim, no excuse I know, but I am really really sorry and hope you don't feel I've ignored your messages - you and your family have been in my prayers as has everyone else on this thread, especially ALL who are experiencing difficult times at present.
Now, I need some advice:)

:D
I recently bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 which has 10x zoom and the anti shake feature which is marvelous. The marvelous thing about this camera is it has 'baby mode' too so the flash doesn't startle the babe and the image is nice and soft - you can also set it for each child so it actually works out the subjects age (e.g. 5mth, 2wk, 3days etc). I'm still learning how to use it but very happy with it's performance so far.

Thanks Cathiemarie, I have not been able to get to this site all day, I guess I am not alone since there are no new posts. Maybe it is fixed now. Wow that camera sounds nice with a setting for baby mode! Unfortunately, we have no more babies.

I am really curious as to what constitutes "baby mode"? I have a portrait-mode which snaps continuously as long as I hold down the button. Is that it or is there something else? I would love to see if I can duplicate the settings.
I was determined to get a good shot of DGD#2 the other day, all 5 months of her. She is SO cute but hasn't photographed well yet. I got her in a good mood and just held down that button. The first 5-6 shots were awful, but the last two were adorable. SOOOO worth it.

Hi gang...well, I also thought we broke it too:eek: . I too, had been trying to get
on since yesterday . My word, how frustrating it was , wasn't it? You never
know how much time you really spend on this site until you can't... .
Well, I hope everyone is well, Carma, Kim and everyone still in prayer.
I hope Kate is doing much better ..let's see if our dear Howard pulls through.
I'm sure he tried , but the site was down. Ok, be back later ..sorry I can't help with the camera I just bought a new one but not as sophisticated as the ones I'm hearing. It's a good one though..(((((((hugs to all)))))))):D

it sure is strange to have a whole day go past with no one able to post in this thread. I missed hearing from all of you! Look! Deb helped me get the blinkies working correctly. What would we do without her?
Actually, someone started a thread re yesterday's downtime. Tina posted to say they were doing routine maintenance, and several DSPers asked if we could have a warning next time just so we know it isn't our computers.
DSP went down at the same time our broadband was switching over to a new company, so I was REALLY confused! :D

Hi all you lovely RGCer's I am back... Oh so tired and oh so glad to hear Kay is doing WELL....Howard I am sending you Mucho Grande cyber smooches... You are definitely one in a million and I am so glad our beautiful Kay has you to look after her... Glad you all got a kick out of my card (and the story behind it) .. But darn it I did not want to cause my special SK pain.. Even if it was from laughter.. Kay I had no idea you‘d be reading them all so soon….Oh and leave it to our Kay to have her very own Dr. McDreamy or maybe he is a McSteamy… LOL..I guess even surgery can have it’s perks!… Hurry and get well Kay so we can hear all about this hunky Doc.
So Anaheim is all set and a go.. I have it marked on my calendar and will be there with bells on I think… Laura you have me confused. You said when you were last a part of CHA it was not open to the public…. What exactly does that mean? Is it still so? If so what exactly will we be allowed to be a part of? CathieMarie, the Anaheim convention center is directly across the street from Disneyland.. You have a virtual hotel smorgasbord at your feet… Go on line and search Disneyland… But wow… I like couldn’t even imagine hopping on a plane, flying across the world just to attend a craft convention… Unless Of course it’s for business reasons.. Now if you are coming out for the California experience, Disneyland, our beautiful sunshine, colorful characters, etc. and the convention then I say how very cool…
Deb you are such a “Techno Geeky Gran“…. I love it…. Your linkie blinkie is so terrific… Love how you added the message to Kay… Will get at adding it to my siggy.. Hope it’s easier this time around. I think it’s only fitting that it links anyone who clicks on it to Kay beautiful poem page … It’s worth reading many times over and anyone new to this thread should not miss it for sure.. Oh and Deb SK stands for sidekick… Kay and I got to be friends based on our mutual snail scrapping style…Somewhere along the way we adopted SK as one of our pet names for each other.. Ok I know I had more to say but am so in need of a nap right now… Has anyone heard what happened with DSP... I tried most of last night and this morning to get on..Had this same thing happen last week but just for a few hours..Hope that's why I am seeing no post from our dear Carma.... Hugs to all you great RGCer's..

Good day Ladies, Sorry about the late report but I could not get into the site. Kay is improving by the day, although she had laryngitis this morning, the doctor told her that the only cure was to stop talking and said that you ladies do entirely too much of that any way so some silence would be a good thing. Later in the day he relented and removed the tube that went up her nose and down her throat and the “laryngitis” just disappeared. She is only allowed clear liquids and jelly but she thinks she is in heaven. The doctor says he will remove the epidural tomorrow and she can then move to a general ward on Wednesday and home on the weekend, holding thumbs!!! Kay had us taking pictures today so she can do a page for you all and for the wonderful staff at the hospital. Thanks for the messages Howard

Great News Howard. I sure hope she gets to come home this weekend! That will make her feel so much better, just being at home. Thanks for the update, you are the best!
Thanks, Howard -- sounds like she's doing wonderfully.
linksys, I'm assuming that Margie & Co. are planning something for us, maybe one day or one night. I used to go to trade shows when I had business credentials (e.g., reseller's license), but I don't think they let you in otherwise. Since this is actually a trade show, the likes of us probably won't get to go play with the big kids. :D

Such wonderful news about Kay. I am still worried about our Carma, though. She is carrying such a burden. I wish we were all close together, like neighbors on the block, then we could help in other ways, too.
omiof5, I love your new avatar.
I knew right away things were working again here when I suddenly was alerted to lots of new comments on a layout...my dear granddaughter. What a supportive bunch!
Yvspeck...CHA (formerly HIA) is closed to the public. You can get in with the right id cards from a scrapbook store or another hobby "professional". I believe each professional business is only allowed so many members. If you want to sneak a peek at all the new stuff you might talk with your local scrapbook store. I think I read that even DSP wasn't going to have enough IDs for all of the designers who were planning on coming. However, as I said, the rest of the events surrounding the convention make it a worthwhile trip, for sure. I am also sure I saw that DSP is planning their own events.

Hello Everyone!
I see we still have some of us under the weather! Or mishaps here and there. It took me so long to catch up!

The cards everyone has made are great....didn't have time to make a post to any of them, just wanted to catch up. And by the way ...you all made me laugh so much while doing it!
Tomorrow i'm hoping to have time to visit the galleries. I say that alot huh!

I have been AWOL for a week due to having relatives staying, then I saw a post about a card for Kay....my heart was pounding as I searched 11 pages of this thread to find out what it was all about....oh my goodness Kay, you poor thing! Thank goodness it sounds like you are being well looked after and recovering well, I had to smile that you have got everyone taking photos for you to do a page...even with tubes in your goodness-knows-where'sies you still manage to see the scrapping potential!!! Keep smiling, and big hugs being sent your way....

Phew, girls how scary was that to be without DSP for a whole day - imagine how Kay is feeling not being able to get on line for days and days and days, but thankfully DH is updating her, and God Bless him for updating us too on Kays progress.

Lauraloub here's the info that lead me to the Lumix TZ1 hope it helps
.....on another forum, a parent raved about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9K. Here's what he said:
"I recently purchased a 6 megapixel Panasonic Lumix at COSTCO. It has a LEICA 3X optical zoom lens. Leica is probably the best lens maker in the world and to get such a fantastic camera in a package not much larger than a cigarette pack, I am delighted. It is so light that I can take it everywhere. The BEST part is image stabilization which has saved many shots for me already.
A former White House photographer friend tells me this little thing I now own will do everything that his whole suitcase of larger and heavier equipment will do. Before I bought it, I did a lot of comparison shopping to see what direction I wanted to take to get the most bang for my buck and this won hands down. I've not had a moment of dissatisfaction with it...
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9K 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Image Stabilized Optical Zoom (Black) by Panasonic"
After I saw this review, I did more research, and I got the newest version, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1. It's an automatic point and shoot. The Lumix has the 10x zoom that someone else mentioned. It's also got the sports mode that the Canon has, but the 10x zoom is a lot more powerful than the 4x zoom of the Canon Powershot A610. It also has baby mode, beach mode and snow mode to adjust the lighting, white balance and exposure as needed. The baby mode feature adjusts the flash for the baby and you can print the baby's age (e.g. 9 months, 12 days) on the photo. There's also a birthday setting.
********
YVSpeck - Craft Convention - oh noooooo that's the last thing on my list of things to do in Anaheim, my priority is meeting up with you guys, play a bit in Disney Land, (I'll be comparing it to Disney World. *grinning*) and of course I might just try and sneak into the craft conventions thing while I'm there - I'm planning on bringing an empty suitcase to fill with crafting goodies, they are soooo much nicer from the States and of course much much cheaper than here in England (hope no customs officers are reading this).
Take care everyone - my prayers are with you all.

Did you feel left out over the last 24 hours or what? That was a long time for this DSP site to be down and it certainly drove home to me how much I enjoy our friendly chats with all of our wonderful SKs (LOL Jill!!) ..... Howard, wonderful update on Kay. Thanks for keeping us posted. .... Yep, Lizzy, time for new blinkie! For those needing to get caught up on the granny-linkie-blinkie, I've put a link in my signature block so that we don't have to remember where we tucked those instructions. I'll leave that in there for a few days until we are all suitably linked up! .....
LANGUAGE LESSON: Does 'holding thumbs' in South-African lingo mean 'fingers crossed' in US lingo which basically means 'with luck'? I saw that expression in here once before and meant to ask. And are there other expressions elsewhere for 'with luck'? p.s. Just getting ready for the next round of Trivial Pursuit with the family. LOL they will never guess my new source of 'profound wisdom'!!!!!
Off to sticky-beak through galleries!
