Finally got back here after breakfast and checking out a few yard sales...nothing there to report.
Thanks GrandmaScrap... I'm checking it out ...I might give it a try but don't know certain things, like how to add a font or brushes or what to do w/brushes (if that's part of the instructions) ...but I may try it. I should be able to at least get ONE layout done a week for Goodness Sake!!!!
Nana, I'm quoting you, but don't quote me, 'cause I never did NKOTB, but I do believe they help each other. And the grannies who've gone through the experience have sought out the aid and advise of other grannies, which you would be more than welcomed to do! That's one of the things we do best! (Advice, that is!
As soon as DH gets out of the shower and dressed, we're going to a Fall Festival in a nearby town, which is one of the things we do each Labor Day Weekend.:D

Thanks GrandmaScrap... I'm definitely going to join; in fact I posted tht I'd like to but the lady who is running it is gone for the holiday weekend I think.
Wayne & I are thinking about going to the State Fair here in Michigan also. Just seems funny to go anywhere w/o the kids (they're with their parents at the Parmount Kings Island in Ohio). We were going to go there but our car needs some work and we didn't want to go too far from home. So guess the Michigan State Fair it will be then!
Have fun at the festival!

SPEAKING OF CHILDREN'S EXPLOITS -- WHEN WE WERE YOUNG, WHENEVER MY BROTHER, HARRY, WOULD DO POORLY IN SCHOOL HE WOULD UNLOCK THE CLASSROOM WINDOW BEFORE HE LEFT FOR THE DAY - THEN HE WOULD COME BACK AFTER HOURS AND CRAWL THROUGH THE WINDOW, FIND THE GRADE BOOK, AND CHANGE HIS GRADE TO ONE THAT BETTER REFLECTED THE GRADE HE WISHED HE HAD MADE.
ONCE WHEN HE WAS IN 8TH GRADE HE NOT ONLY CHANGED HIS GRADE, HE ALSO CHANGED ANOTHER BOY'S GRADE - THE OTHER BOY HAD BRAGGED AND BRAGGED THAT HE HAD NEVER MADE BELOW AN A SINCE FIRST GRADE. SO HARRY GAVE HIM A B. HARRY IS STILL A REAL CHARACTER.:harry: PQ FRAN

Wow, I'd forgotten how much fun it is to receive WTG's when posting a LO. Thanks ladies for your kind words. Guess I just need Gundi to stay here longer so she can inspire me more. Of course, with me waiting on her hand and foot, she's the one getting a lot done! Poor me - do ya'll feel sorry for me? Just kidding, I love having her here.

Urrrgggh, I spent 4 hours trying to fix my hello this morning! and still no dice! The stupid piece of junk just does not like my laptop and esp since I added McAfee on. I am logged in as me on mom's computer and it has been fine for hours. OK now that I have ranted, I really do love hello most of the time. I have been hearing rumors about MSN messenger. Has anybody tried that? I heard it is like hello but you can chat with more than one person at a time. That would be cool! So now that I have gotten so many of you to join me on hello, do you want to switch now if I can find out more details? :D Share any info you all have with me and I will do the same.
4 hours! I could have gotten at least one LO done and maybe even 2 in 4 hours. Sheesh!

Hey this sounds like fun. I am going out of town to visit a card making friend next weekend. This week is so busy. I would like to try something like this when I get back. Instructions will be there? I am a newbee to digital stuff. I bet I could apply the same to make some interesting cards too. I have done some old victorian women and used pale colors with brushes to add color here and there.Where is everyone posting the stuff they make? See a real newbee Grandma here.
Thanks

Sands yes, I know I have that filter, but when I use it I don't like the results so if you could I would love a lesson on using the filter in DIP....I think it was the sketch filter. I also used the pencil one but man I need some help. I am going to try to take the class that Lori Davis is going to give I think it is in October. I better go and check as I sure do want to get into that class. Anything you can help me with on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you want to see a particular person's LOs you can click on their name in the forum and a list will come down and one option will be "veiw this persons gallery". There are tutorials under the "Start Here" tab that will show you how to do a lot of things on the site. There are also great classes under "The Campus" tab. And the Grannies and Gits are always here to help!!

24 Hour Prayer Vigil starts midnight DSP Time Tonight
Just to let you Ladies know I shall be pm'ing everyone on the prayer chain to remind them of their time slot.
We still have 2 vacant spots on the prayer chain. If anyone would like to fill those it would be wonderful, so then we will have a non stop 24 prayer chain running all around the world.
The two slots are 4 to 5 am (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26169)(DSP time) and 7 to 8 pm (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26170)(DSP time) PM me if you would like to take either slot (or both) and I'll add your name.
Also please add your prayer requests to the list Prayer Request List (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26171) - you can ask just for your intentions if you don't want to leave any details.
No wonder I am so s****y at this scrapbooking art, I wouldnt know Al Gorithm if I fell over on top of him...and that would probably be the last he would know too:D.
Ah, Jill, but "art" would be the operative word!!! I have no problem figuring out the technical part of digi-scrapping, but the ARTISTIC part is a whole other thing!!! :ron:  :ron:  :twins:
P.S. Oh dear, and Al always has the best things to say about you.
I'll never forget the day I got a call from a "concerned" mom who had seen my fifth grade son walking to school without a jacket--the weather was nippy, but not freezing. Now, I would have worn a jacket, but I figure that if the kid gets cold enough, he'll remember his jacket!
One of the best teachers either of my kids had was DS's 3rd grade teacher. This was the group of kids, mostly boys, that all of the elementary teachers looked forward to getting as the kids moved up grade level -- they were well behaved, smart, well rounded kids with supportive parents. It was just one of those groups that occasionally comes along without a single real stinker in the bunch.
Anyway, a friend and I sat in total disbelief on back to school night when the teacher said, "And please don't let me see a single one of you at the door with forgotten lunch money, homework, books, or jackets. Your child won't die from missing one lunch, but he'll certainly be sure he has it the next day." She went on to talk about how we all hit a wall at sometimes in our lives and she would be sure every child in her classroom hit a brick wall before the end of the year. Because, if they hit it at age 8, they could be taught how to bounce back. If they hit that wall for the first time at 21, they might not be able to get back up. We were not a happy group of mamas when we left that classroom.
Like I said, that was a class full of self-confident (very!!!) children. True to her word, Mrs. Brumley consistently turned hovering parents away from her door and made sure each child had hit a small brick wall by June. One of the very best lessons my boy ever learned and it's still paying off in adulthood. She was just beyond excellent at preparing kids for adulthood and making them hit those walls in a very loving, gentle, and productive way.

Thank you, nana -- but how do you know it's not a Hall of Shame?
New Kids on the Block is a contest with no prizes that you can enter if you have fewer than 50 LOs in your gallery. I've been around a while but haven't posted many LOs so I was still eligible to join. You only get to do it once, and I can't believe I waited so long! It was just a fantastic experience -- you post LOs and people give frank opinions about what they would personally change. I loved it and can't believe how much my skills improved in the three weeks.
The next one is in October. You can learn more about it and sign up here: NKOTB (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15766). Be sure and let us know if you sign up -- I definitely want to "pay it forward."

Also, don't forget that there's a ton of FREE TUTORIALS (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/tutorials/tutorials.shtml) at DSP. And I've had wonderful experiences taking the fee-based ones at DSU Classes (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/classes.shtml).

Dearhearts, I have known my husband's step dad for almost 18 years and he has been ill the entire time. Emphysema. As is typical, his condition had become increasingly worse and the past two years, particularly bad.
About 6 o'clock this evening, he finally lost his battle.
This man lived a very "tough" life, and a lot of his troubled times were self-induced.
He was, however, a very talented musician, playing guitar and singing in a band for the greater portion of his life. He had an inexhaustable sense of humor and no matter how ill, began almost every conversation with a joke. Bawdy, mostly, but a joke, nevertheless. But mainly and blessedly, he was an excellent caregiver to DH's mom the last four years of her life, which was riddled with strokes and necessitated almost 24/7 care.
Step dad is now pain-free and resting in a much better place. Those he leaves behind, though, are particularly pained by his passing. I ask that you pray for them, please.

Condolences Crys.....

Dearhearts, I have known my husband's step dad for almost 18 years and he has been ill the entire time. Emphysema. As is typical, his condition had become increasingly worse and the past two years, particularly bad.
About 6 o'clock this evening, he finally lost his battle.

Just a reminder that there is still time to post your prayer requests.
Also, if you want to, you can sign up to pray any hour of the day (not just during the two hours which have not been covered yet). There will often be more than one person praying at any given time, and that is terrific!!!
Editing: I signed up for 7 - 8 and someone else did also, but it looks like 1-2 p.m. DSP is not covered yet (although maybe someone else is covering it).

I have some spectacular bruises and scrapes, but nothing permanent. :D You can imagine what happens when a metal scooter with thin edges bangs around on your knees and ankles, and I have quite bony ones. :)
I bet your kids are HUGELY impressed with your battle scars !! I'm also over giggling my head off at the mental image of your aerobatics (and then you innocently asking in the next post "how does one get flung !!") and happy it was just your pride that got dented ! ..If that happened to me ..I would have BOUNCED (like Vallies goldfish) down the road and not even been bruised at all ..I am THAT well padded !! I would have had a bit of a problem getting up again though !!!
CONGRATULATIONS on your truly beautiful "House that love built". You are such an awesome scrapper and I'm so proud that you are OUR gorgeous GIT !!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU.... AND YOU MS OMI ARE FOURTH.. WELL DONE,WELL DONE. Now, I must come clean. When I saw the overall scores as they were originally posted, I realized that according to those numbers, I should have placed 6th in the first round. But I had been placed as second...(6th place is fine with me,) but then someone else should've been second. when I pm'd Kristen to tell her I had been erroneously put in second place in round 1, she found the error. Little numismatist that I am, those numbers just jumped out at me. i'd rather be 6th and honest than second with a lie..... did any of that make any sense??
crys- sorry to hear your sad news. he now rests, pain free, in God's hands. But, he sounds like he was quite the character, so the good memories will so quckly be the ones to shape his legacy. My condolences to you and your family.

My son would always waited to see what the reaction was before he helped me out. One time the girl brought me a diet coke! We often thought of getting my MIL some kind of email device (doesn't have to be a computer, there is one that just does emails) but we knew she wouldn't know how to operate it and b/c she doesn't live near us (she's in Florida and refuses to come back to Michigan to live even though she is alone now), we just decided it would be a waste of time. She's not in the computer age and I feel she is missing out but she would probably feel it to be frustrating instead.

Vallie, I have to tell you your style is KILLING me. I have been working it on and off for 3 days now. The groans my puter makes each time I open my multi layered work in progress is ear splitting. I don't know if it was some kind of weird sign or just a coincidence but I was working on it yesterday, just about to put my foot through the monitor, when all @#$% broke loose...One minute it is sunny, hot and humid the next this crazy, wild, unbelievable monsoon type storm hit us. Lightening struck , blew a transformer and out went the power...Couldn’t remember how much of what I worked was saved…. Grrrrrrrrr .. The power was out for nearly 8 hours so I stewed until almost 10 PM only to find that I had not saved any of my efforts of the day….. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I am no longer just another slimy snail scrapper. I am a stupid slimy snail scrapper as well. SAVE AS YOU WORK…. Think I will have it tattooed across my hands!

I want to thank all of you who prayed for us today, and are praying for us the rest of the day. I'm continuing to join you in prayers throughout the day as well as my hour this morning. I do believe that God does answer prayers, however it may be in a different way than what we wanted.

Claire, I don't know what software you are using, but look for a clone brush. You can adust the size of it. Then click on an area of the photo you want to copy from and then move your mouse pointer to the area where the woman is and hold down your left mouse button as you paste. For example, copy the concrete and paste over her foot, the blue and paste over her leg. You will have to use a smaller brush to copy the little bit of curb to paste over her to the left. And it is going to get tricky to copy that bush and fence to paste over the rest of her. Cloning takes lots of time and patience, but it can work. Take a look at Omi's second round NKOTB. There was a duck behind her granddaughter's head on the right in her first photo. Omi replaced the duck with deck - and shadows. Omi is a master, but you can do it also.

Any ideas on how to erase that lady behind Caroline out of the picture??? I tried the eraser but I end up erasing the kids!
Thanks. That's what I'll do. I've used the clone tool before but I really need to learn how to erase around a subject so the subject is "pulled" out of the picture and thought maybe I could do that here and get rid of that lady! LOL

I missed yesterday and this morning and am now so hopelessly far behind. We are going out to our daughter's place and see the grandkids. Than our son is comming over when we get home (they have been away for nearly 3 weeks), so I'm not going to get caught up anytime soon.
I want to thank all of you who prayed for us today, and are praying for us the rest of the day. I'm continuing to join you in prayers throughout the day as well as my hour this morning. I do believe that God does answer prayers, however it may be in a different way than what we wanted.
WOS and WVS.
Hugs and prayers.

Helene, I totally agree with you about how God answers our prayers. Thanks to all who are praying and will be praying!

 Oh yes, a while back I think it was Omio who was talking about NKOTB and who could join. I went through NKOTB two times...no one said I couldn't and I guess I never saw a rule to say I couldn't so I joined again. LOL I learned a lot both times. You girls better keep an eye on me, you never know where I may show up...remember to I am having some memory lapses. LOL
For the first bit, you could do it more than once. It wasn't until NKOTB 5 or 6 that they started the limits. :)

Thanks for coming to my pity party :D :D :D !

My Yahoo user name is kashateaparty......same as here.
Geez.......I was only gone for 2 days and it's going to take that long to catch up.....so far I've discovered the only thing broken on Jae Dee is her Hello....no big loss Jae Dee and I'm glad to hear that!
Crys....so sorry about your family's loss.
Scamp.....glad things went well with your family  . Also, thanks for the help with ACDSee....I'm still contemplating.
Accents.....I've spent the entire weekend in Kentucky where the accents are as thick as the stories that are told. But, Kentuckians are wonderful, friendly people and I enjoyed myself immensely.
Back to catching up.

I do believe that God does answer prayers, however it may be in a different way than what we wanted.
Helene
I totally agree with you on that, Helene. Some answers have taken years and weren't what I expected at all, but far better.
I think that it was Dr. Schueller (spelling?) who said something like this:
God always answers prayer.
If your prayer idea is not right, God says "No."
If your prayer would be right for you, but injure someone else, God says "No."
If the timing is not right, God says "Slow."
If everything is right, God says "Go!"
-----
And then there is this by "Author Unknown to Me:"
I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No.
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.
Patience is a by-product of tribulations;
it isn't granted, it is learned.
I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.
I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.
You must grow on your own!,
but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things.
I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said...Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.
-----------
On the other hand, this morning, while I was praying for hurting people, I thought that I ought to ask for HEALING, and then let God decide.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know there is a machine that is called Presto by HP and you sit it up and put in the peoples numbers taht she will accept emails from, they can send her emails and it prints them out for her up to 5 times a day what ever you put in 1,2,3, 4 or 5. You can send emails, pictures etc. She however cannot send an aswer back I doint think...so I have been thinking about getting one for mymom and dad.... but she still is struggling with her computer. The Presto emailer cost's $149.00 to buy, that also includes a ink cartridge. They print out in color and have different styles, like Birthday etc. You have to put in replacement ink cardridges in it and then it costs $9.95 per month for the service. If you go and check it out and leave your email address a day or so after you have been there you will recieve a offer from them to buy one for $99.95. So don't buy it at first as I have gone and checked it out two times now and both times I have recieved the special offer. I will send this than get the link for you...if may be something you would enjoy getting for her and she would feel like she is back in the link again.
good luck.

Most of you have probably seen this one before but it is funny anyway!!!:D :D :D :D
FREEZER BAGS: They are male, because they hold everything in, but you
can see right through them.
PHOTOCOPIERS: These are female, because once turned off; it takes a
while to warm them up again.
They are an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are
pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push the wrong Buttons.
TIRES: Tires are male, because they go bald easily and are often over
inflated.
HOT AIR BALLOONS: Also a male object, because to get them to go
anywhere, you have to light a fire under their butt.
SPONGES: These are female, because they are soft, squeezable and
retain water.
WEB PAGES: Female, because they're constantly being looked at and
frequently getting hit on
TRAINS: Definitely male, because they always use the same old lines
for picking up people.
EGG TIMERS: Egg timers are female because, over time, all the weight
shifts to the bottom.
HAMMERS: Male, because in the last 5000 years, they've hardly changed
at all, and are occasionally handy to have around.
THE REMOTE CONTROL: Female. Ha! You probably thought it would be male,
but consider this: It easily gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost
without it, and while he doesn't always know which buttons to push, he
just keeps trying

Ok Ladies, here is a picture of 3 views of my modge podged photo on a canvas frame or block. I took the pictures in different places, outside on the patio inside in the foyer and then on my counter in the kitchen. Trying to make it so you can see it in different lighting. I didn not put ribbon on the frame of this one as I wanted to put it on an easel. Others that I want to put on a wall I will hang with ribbons or on a hanger on the wall. I have several ideas that I want to try.

A word that only math and computer nerds probably use! :o It's just a set of rules for solving a problem, like in long division when you divide-multiply-subtract-bring down. (Teachers here have the kids remember Daddy, Mommy, Sister, Brother to remember the pattern.) I always used to teach my kids to use the word algorithm, too, because they loved stumping their parents with it.
That's why I really love the digital scrapping. I understand The Rules, using the software, etc., and it gives me a chance to search for an artistic side -- I know I must have one in here somewhere.

So well written Miss Crystal!! Condolences to you all and prayers for Step-dad, he sounds a real character!! I am sure he has a joke to tell at the Pearly Gates too!

So glad you enjoyed the wedding so much Vallie ..what a pretty bride ! I am also very unhappy that the perfect man has long since expired ..and here we've all wasted so much time looking for him ! Sheesh ..400 pics !!! That must be a record !!
WTG Carma on your gorgeous canvas ..it looks fabulous on the easel ..a real work of art !! How many layers of podge did you use ?? I have covered tins etc with pics of the kids on them .. I sprayed them with clear varnish to protect them ..this worked pretty well and I'm sure you could do the same here. I think the podge gives that lovely brushed look if you want a bit of texture .
Are you having fun with your new toy Sands ? I have invested FAR too many hours and so much blood sweat and tears learning Corel PhotoPaint that I would never dream of changing now ..you are VERY brave !!
How do I get the cute WOS and WVS blinkies ? I tried rt clicking them and going to proerties to copy the link ,,but when I tried it in my siggie I was told " file format too large" ???
Gotta go ...huge desert sized hugs to all !! Be back soonest !!

Thanks for coming to my pity party :D :D :D !
Ciao, Kim
Poor Kimmy!!!!!  I am always forgetting to save as I go. I lost half of my Demure Sarah layout too when photoshop crashed. I am a bit more careful lately, it is a bit of a memory hog I found out the hard way! Now off to check if you finished it yet!:D

Kay I also have spent so much time learning DIP that it was a major decision for me to change, but quite honestly if I am really thinking about getting serious with my photography..... well then I will have to go the Photoshop route cos DIP just can't do the things that Photoshop can!!!

Glad you got CS3 finally Sandy. Photoshop is a bit of an adventure. I found it not much different to PSP. But then again I dont do anything too hard with it just basic photo fixing and the scrapping. There is a lot to learn and you do learn a lot just fiddling around. If you dont like something ctrl/alt/z will undo it. I think that was the first thing I learnt!

In case any of you were wondering how it is I know so many Elvis song titles.....some of the families came up with this idea a few years ago as a means of communication with the guys when they were deployed. Obviously they can't disclose certain details with us for security reasons, such as they are about to go on patrol or they're leaving on a "hot" mission, etc, we use Elvis song titles to talk in "code". It's worked out beautifully and keeps us from worrying so much when we don't hear from our soldiers for days on end.
I still laugh so hard about the story of when the time our guys were walking through the streets of Baghdad during the initial invasion of Iraq. Baghdad is an incredibly large city and most of the surrounding areas are filled with people living in conditions of extreme poverty. These are also the most dangerous areas of the city and pose the highest risk for the soldiers.
One night, our guys were sent out to follow up on a report that Saddam was hiding out in one of the ghetto areas of Baghdad. After searching for hours and finding nothing, they were anxious to leave the areas they had searched. As they were walking down the streets to return to their hummers, one of the sergeants who often imitated Elvis, began softly singing "In The Ghetto". Before long, the other soldiers using their best falsetto voices, had added the background chorus. Can you just imagine these guys walking down the streets of Baghdad singing this! My son tells the story so well and I laugh each time he does.

Good grief you ladies have been verbose!!! I haven't been able to find time to read much...try having 3 almost 40 year old "kids" around all of a sudden. DD#1 is on her yearly vacation here and lasted a record 6 days before getting into a fight with her younger sister. My oldest (son) is packing his belongings into a storage unit and heading to Northern Michigan for a temporary job renovating a restaurant so he crashed at my house last night, too. I am hiding out at the Old Dear's house across the street.
Laughed at The Perfect Man headstone. Probably NO one buried there...just letting us hopeful women know to stop looking.
Loved the Elvis posts. Our Fellas and their senses of humor are so inspirational! I have NEVER bought an Elvis recording, but, thanks to the early days of Napster, I have a ton downloaded.
Can you believe the Back to School Sales"? Backpacks with cell phone, I-Pod, and laptop storage spaces? What happened to B-O-O-K-S? The sales for college dorm rooms are just as silly...Speaker systems, HiDef TVs, Loft Beds. You should have SEEN my first dorm room...I thought it was the closet! 2 beds, 2 dressers with drop-down desk surfaces, and 2 chairs. No room for personal additions, either.
Well, I do get the girls tonight and all day tomorrow as their parents are back in their classrooms and the girls start Wednesday. Should be interesting with the Aunt and Uncle at my house, too. It will be like babysitting FOUR kids. ACK! Wednesday I hope everyone will be settled somewhere else and I can hibernate for the day!
Now off to read a dozen or more pages. Until then...WOS, WVS, and WKS.

We all seem to be scattered all over with our various favorite chat clients. Rather than having several open to talk to friends from various places I use Trillian which covers almost all of them except Hello). Here is the write up. It is free.
Trillian is a fully featured, stand-alone, skinnable chat client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC. It provides capabilities not possible with original network clients, while supporting standard features such as audio chat, file transfers, group chats, chat rooms, buddy icons, multiple simultaneous connections to the same network, server-side contact importing, typing notification, direct connection (AIM), proxy support, encrypted messaging (AIM/ICQ), SMS support, tabbed chatting, system-tray notifications and alerts, and privacy settings.
I am lauraloub on everything but AIM where I am TruBluLu.

My slightly less than perfect man wants to go for a hike when I get home. I wonder when I am supposed to make my pie for the potluck tonight. Guess I had better get home pretty quick. :-(
I am happy to report that the Cherry Republic is much quieter today. Drove me crazy yesterday.
Remember last week when I asked for prayers for our DD? Well, the very next day she was offered a GREAT job that would be perfect for her. Now I need prayers that she decides she is strong enough to handle it and I have great faith in RGC prayers.

Trillian asks for your user ID on each of the clients to which you belong then opens one window with your contacts color-coded as to which client they belong. I don't use IRC or a couple of others so those are just not there. Skype is another one besides Hello that I use but isn't supported by Trillian. You don't need a separate ID for Trillian.

Anyone got an answer for me yet on my florist question?
Ugh, I am SO out of the loop, I feel like my arm is missing.
I've barely been on DSP all week and didn't do a layout until Friday after school. Homeschooling 3 is taking up a lot of time and then yesterday I spent the whole day concentrating on the DET.
I glanced over the gallery first and thought I could never compete with all the great LOs, but then I got to work and started playing with all the great elements in the kit and ended up with 3 layouts. THEN I had to decide which one to enter. I asked everyone to vote (even my 2 year old LOL) and finally decided to enter my Winter Sunset (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=211148&cat=3150) LO.
The other two - featuring Abby (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=211154&cat=500&ppuser=81914) and My Parents (through the years) (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=211155&cat=500&ppuser=81914) are in my gallery. I hope I made the right choice... I probably won't get past round one, but it's fun trying anyway.
This morning I did a school LO of my oldest daughter (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=211207&cat=500&ppuser=81914) for IOTW and I just uploaded a page from last school year (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=211217) that I never uploaded for the Inspiration Station call for school layouts. Sheesh - I haven't even thought about my heritage layout for this week yet!
Cathie, thanks so much for doing the prayer requests. I'm praying daily in my time slot and didn't realize there were so many requests until I started reading the thread. Thanks for doing that!!
Gotta go get lunch started and then work on a couple more LOs while I have the day off! I'm still about 4 pages behind in the forum, so WOS!! : )
Sandy, I usually do a google search for florists in the town I want to send them to and then call them directly to place the order. You can usually get more for your money since you don't have to pay the FTD charges. HTH.

Any ideas on how to erase that lady behind Caroline out of the picture??? I tried the eraser but I end up erasing the kids!
Absolutely! I had to do that with a pic of my DD's honeymoon pic taken by the hotel...the lady (?) walking on the beach behind them looked like she was nude.

I use Photo Shop Creative Suite 2 and the handy-dandy clone tool to reproduce background to cover the distraction. I also magnify it a lot so I can deal with the details.

2 coats of modge podge.....and yes I do think I will spray it with clear coat. Thanks for the comments Kay.

Do any of you ladies know how to organize the individual gallery thumbnails into albums?
My gallery is beginnig to look like my son's bedroom--- a personal landfill space.
I know how to make the album, but can't figure out how to move the individual thumbnails into it. Can I just click and drag them in or will I need to put everything back into my computer and then put them into the album??? I hope this is not the case because some I deleted after printing.
urghhh.

Hi Carolyn.... I started sorting out my gallery a while back and this is the way I did it. After you have named your album, you open up the photo, and at the bottom you click on the drop down menu next to "move to" and select your album page which should be the very bottom name.
I did ask in this thread if there was a quicker way of doing it, but I wasn't answered so my guess is that there isn't another way. HTH.

Gee, Thanks! I saved it.
I'm working on something else for Ian right now and having lots of problems trying to find something. I did find a Plopper kit ... it's for this picture:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/imcrafts/FAMILY-misc/ian-dad--fairlyoddcoaster-web.jpg
I found a cute colorful freebie plopper that I'm going to use by Meryl Bartho called Fun Plopper... the problem is that I can't find those cute Alpha's she is using at the top right with the word FUN. I think they're adorable but can't find them. Anyone know where I can find those? I found some cute ones in the store, but not exactly that. I may end up purchasing the ones in the store I found though: Laura Bavin Tile Alpha (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=74875&cat=740) ...anyway, I'm still looking! LOL
Do you all take forever to pick out what you want to use for your pages??? I've been spending upwards of 2 hours already!

I decided to go ahead and buy some FRIDGE magnets by Meryl Bartho and I also emailed her to ask if she had some Alphas to go with that Fun Time sample plopper. The fridge magnets will work nice since they are colorful.
I'll be working on that layout tonight and hope to post it later or tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow is the first day of school for the kids. I have to drop off Ian's paperwork to his school (he starts on Wed) and then on Wed morning Zachary has a dentist appointment and on Thursday, Ian has a doctor appt for a physical for school and Sat. Zachary has another dentist appt. ...going to be busy this week.

Nanaclaire, I think most DSP ploppers come layered (I dont use them very often so I could be wrong), the layering allows you to place your photo underneath. HTH

OK, Ladies... here is my first draft of Ian's rollercoaster ride. I used this plopper for a couple of reasons: 1) it is colorful and 2) easy & quick to do.
The only change I think I want to make at this point is to re-scan the main picture back in w/o the clear film on top and see if it shows up more clearly and brighter than what we see now. Here's the draft - tell me if I should make any changes...

I was visiting my stepdaughter, Jenny, and her husband, David, and they had taken me out to dinner. But they were anxious to get home so I could see "The Show." They wouldn't give me any hints. (David is a gifted magician and had just been to a magic conference, so I was expecting him to show me some new tricks.) They said that "The Show" wasn't ready when we got to their house, so Jenny and I went downstairs and I was showing her about DSP when David called us upstairs.

I will go to the link for you Vallie and copy what Amanda told us she did and it will make it easier for you to understand and I won't be quoting wrong information. Be right back and post it for you.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I can be kind of slow on the uptake sometimes, but Lindy's comment about Vickimp living so close reminded me, ...
I just realized that some of you may come to visit Nauvoo, Illinois, which is a well known historical attraction. Nauvoo is often referred to The Williamsburg of the Midwest, and is where the Mormans were living in the 1840's before they were driven west to Utah.
Nauvoo has MANY restored historical sights, and has guides dressed in 1840's attire who explain the history and give demonstrations of many crafts of the times. To mention just a few, there is an oxen pulled covered wagon ride and a horse drawn wagon ride. There are many homes to tour, a blacksmith shop and wagon wheel making shop, a brick yard, a Family Craft Center where candle making, rope making, bread making (in a brick oven), etc., etc., are all demonstrated. Sometimes the visitors get to participate. Alex and Emily got to make a rope there last week. They also enjoyed playing in the children's frontier activities area. There is often quality entertainment. Everything is free, except, of course, meals, lodging, and souvenirs.
It is not necessary to be a Mormon to visit and completely enjoy this historical place. (We belong to the Methodist Church, but frequently take visitors to Nauvoo).
Nauvoo is located at a beautiful section of Illinois on the Mississippi River, and the drive beside the river from Hamilton to Nauvoo is particularily beautiful. There is a State Park in Nauvoo for camping, tent or RV, and there are several fairly new motels.
So I can probably meet more of you other grannies by just driving to Nauvoo!!! :yahoo:

I don't use PSE-3, but use Microsoft Digital Image Suite instead. However, to use png files, I just open them and copy and paste them and the elements paste without carrying the white space with them. If someone else doesn't come by with better, more experienced advice, my advice is to just try them and see what happens. You can always undo it if it doesn't work. Have fun.

Knew I spelled helicopter wrong!
Helicopter parents are the ones who have to be personally involved in every activity, every problem, every idea, every opportunity, every phase of life that their children face. Now, all good parents do this to some extent because that's part of good parenting, but helicopter parents HOVER. :( The message that is sent, even if it isn't said out loud, is that the kid isn't capable of making good decisions or handling small problems without help. My opinion only, but this is sometimes worse than a parent who is inattentive...of course, the ideal -- as in all teaching and parenting -- is to hit that happy medium.
Reminds me of a neighbor who always criticized the fact that I left my 3-year-old son's bed exactly the way he made it every morning. The neighbor couldn't believe that I would allow the bed to stay with saggy, droopy covers all day. She always offered to remake it (our kids played together), and I always said, "He's very proud of that accomplishment...we're not going to improve his work." She never did understand, and I often wonder how her little girl turned out with so much control in every part of her life. If my DS had been proud of setting the neighbor's cat on fire, then I surely would have handled it a bit differently -- but a saggy bedspread?? Please!!! As for my son, I think I overdid it -- he'll still be the first one to tell you what a smart, handsome, capable, talented fella he is.
I think three parents I dealt with in scholarship a couple of years ago are good examples of helicopter parents. Their kids ranged in age from 18-24. In two cases, the parents apologized profusely for "dropping the ball" about getting paperwork in -- one asked for the money four years later and one asked to APPLY six months after applications were due and money was awarded. The third one handled every single step of the process for his kid -- I seriously suspect he even wrote the thank you letter and had the kid sign the printout. Needless to say, I prefer to deal directly with these grown kids, but I believe their parents have "hovered" so many years that the kids have lost the ability to take care of their own affairs. Due to lack of confidence? motivation? will? ability? all of the above?
Gundi, one more bit of "advice" for the GIT. Be VERY careful when asking a granny/teacher/know-it-all questions like this!! You might get a book for an answer!!
  Funny Omio! But I for one enjoyed the whole post, so well written and interesting, TFS !

Came back to show DH your layout (he also thought it is hilarious), and to turn this computer off, when I saw your post.
Now, I'm so happy to see that you pronounce and spell 'warsh' correctly (meaning, of course, like I do), but don't know about that 'arning' that you do.
WOS (including "I also get especially tard when I warsh and arn our clothes" and WVS. Really, goodnight this time.

Carma, thank you so much for the information! I just visited with Dick Blick and ordered 10 @ 8x8.
Since you saved so much money off the retail price, I just asked Mr. Blick if I could charge my order to you and he said, "Sure, why not? I feel certain Carma will have no problem with that!"
How nice is that guy????????????
OMG CRYS!!!! You are too funny, thanks for the LOLOLOL!!!!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I can be kind of slow on the uptake sometimes, but Lindy's comment about Vickimp living so close reminded me, ...
I just realized that some of you may come to visit Nauvoo and Carthage, Illinois, which are well known historical attractions. Nauvoo is often referred to The Williamsburg of the Midwest, and is where the Mormans were living in the 1840's before they were driven west to Utah, and Carthage is the location of the jail where Joseph Smith, the Mormon leader, was killed by a mob.
Nauvoo, in particular, has MANY restored historical sights, and has guides dressed in 1840's attire who explain the history and give demonstrations of many crafts of the times.
(We belong to the Methodist Church in Carthage, but frequently take visitors to Nauvoo).
Nauvoo is located at a beautiful section of Illinois on the Mississippi River, and the drive beside the river from Hamilton to Nauvoo is particularily beautiful. There is a State Park in Nauvoo for camping, tent or RV, and there are several fairly new motels.
Carthage has tours of the jail, a park for camping, and is of particular importance because I live here!
Carthage also has Country Pastimes, an outstanding gift store owned by my stepdaughter, Pam, and she carries a large and varied assortment of gift items, including shelves, plate racks, benches, hall trees, etc., all expertly handcrafted by my very own DH, Leonard.
So I can probably meet more of you other grannies by just staying home, or driving 20 miles to Nauvoo!!! :yahoo:
Beth!!! Thanks so much for that info. We have always planned on coming to visit Carthage and Nauvoo but have never made it there yet! The historical places there mean so much to the heritage of our church and our ancestors. All of my ancestors came accross the plains to Utah. Not all come through Carthage and Nauvoo but a few did. Pam's store and Leonard's gift items sound wonderful!! I am so excited to know that you live there!! I'll have to work on a vaction there soon!!

Claire.... the alpha's in Meryl's Plopper are her GLASS PEBBLE ALPHA'S (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3753) which she's recoloured. She's away on holiday at the moment, so I should imagine your PM will only be answered in a week or so. HTH.

Can anyone tell me why a plopper is coming across as a layer and not a background? I have used ploppers before and I thought they were backgrounds. Maybe it's me.
Ploppers come as a layer because you are supposed to put the photo behind them not on top of them..... is that as clear as mud?

Tell me what you think and I'll be back tomorrow to check on it!!!!!
Thanks All! Sorry but I'll have to come back tomorrow to go back & read all the posts!
Good Night All!

Here's a link to my LO that I did for Jamie's chat, I know some of you have seen it, but go back and refresh, I had to upload it only partially done, since I was having so many puter problems. Zach's silly faces are good for a laugh.

I have finally got my DET entry done -
I test scrapped a bunch of layouts with different styles and different pictures and went round and round and round and FINALLY settled on this - which uses my favourite picture of me anywhere. It also commemorates a really special day.
