Your Angel
Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. The child asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow. How am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God replied, "Among the angels, I'll choose one for you. Your Angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me God, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel your angel's love and feel very happy."
Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"I've heard that on earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
At that moment there was much peace in heaven, but the voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
"Her name is not important. You will simply call her GRANDMA."

Ahh Biffy ..I resisted for so long thinking being a gran would make me feel old ..WELL !!!! How wrong can one be ..it is absolutely and without doubt the very very best place to be !!!! My only problem is that none of my 3 cherubs are within hugging distance , but at last my gorgeous stepdaughter (who lives 5 minutes away !!) has obliged and we are all eagerly awaiting the arrival of Emily Rose ..how cute is that ??? at the end of August !!!!

Being a Grandma is the best thing in the world!!! It's so totally different than being a parent. Read this somewhere, but it is so true....
"Certain personality traits are thought to skip a generation.
Maybe that's why grandchildren and grandparents get along so well."
When I found out I was going to be a grandma, my first thought was, "but I am too young to be a grandma!" well, I am now gald for that because it gives me more time with them or at least I hope it does!
Congratulations on the August arrival, a year ago my DD & I were shopping for items (not knowing whether she'd have a girl or boy) and now we're shopping with a young lady who can already sit up and isn't that far from walking! Time flies by so fast, DD's other child is a boy who is now 16. It's only been a blink of an eye since he was that small. Of all I've done, I like being Nana the bestest!

This is a gorgeous poem Kay, I have tears running down my face right now! Congrats on the expected new arrival. Now on a humorous Grandma note, I had an email from a friend today containing quotes from a class of eight year olds on the subject of grandparents, some of which were:
1. A little boy was asked where his grandmother lived. He said " Oh she lives at the airport and when we want her, we just go and get her. Then when we're done having her visit, we just take her back to the airport."
2. Grandparents wear funny underwear and they can take their teeth and gums out.
3. Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no children of their own. They like other people's
Enjoy!

I have a Granddaughter on the way, due in August. I am journaling her my thoughts and pics of her Mom and Dad throughout the pregnancy. Well, when she gets here, there is gonna be a LO of her and me and this wonderful poem!!!
P.S. I have been wanting something different for my Granddaughter to call me as she will have quite a few Grandmas to watch over her...I am liking that Grammy thing...I may have to "forum lift" that one, if you don't mind. Sammdc!

What a beautiful gesture WP !! New Mums and Dads don't think about journalling and pics BEFORE the big event and then afterwards it's too late !! I also have a little granddaughterl ..Emily Rose .(how sweet is that ??)..due at the end of August and this one will be the first one in "hugging distance" as Kim calll it !! Grammy is too sweet ..sounds much softer than Granny..mine call me Gogo (pronounced gaw gaw ) which is the Zulu word for Gran..also very easy for a toddler to say !!!

Wonderful poem. It made me smile. I love my 3 grandchildren dearly. Our 13 year old granddaughter just went home last night after spending 5 days with us. We loved every minute of it. Our youngest is a grandson...age 2, all boy, who loves us as much as we love him. I think kids now come smarter than when we were raising their parents.
What a lovely poem. Brought tears to my eyes to. I love being a grandma. I have 7 grandchildren but only one is here in town and I get to see her everyday and look after her when her mom is working as a nurse. Amy is in just about every 2nd layout I do. She is like my own already. Can`t imagine not having her around. My other grandchildren are long distance ones and only see them when I go to visit once or twice a year because of distance. It is hard because I am a widow five years this Dec. and I wish my late husband could have seen Amy but God took him too soon. Maybe he can see her from above. I believe he can. I wouldn`t trade being a grandma for anything.

Aww Ang !! Now you went and made me all leaky again !! You KNOW he watches and smiles from above ..I bet you see so much of him in the little things the GKs say and do too ... That's what it's all about I guess ..so savour the moments when you can and keep scrapping all those precious memories !! Big cyber hugs to you !!

Ang, he watches from above. Never forget that. I am so sorry that you lost your husband so early. I lost a sister when she was only 42. She now has five beautiful grandchildren and I, like you, wish she was here to enjoy them but I believe she sees them from above and guides their daily footsteps.

I feel like an infiltrator here getting the inside information on what goes on in a Grandmas brain!!LOL!!! Yes Kay, I know I was kicked out of this thread for posting a photo of me and the kids, (it is amazing what wonders a 1.5mega pixel camera at 20 feet can do for the wrinkles!!!Everyone should try it!!!! LOL!!)
My kids dont have the luxury of regular Grandparent spoilings as their grandparents are all the other side of the world, (and yes I do feel incredibly guilty every day!!!) but Birthday and Christmas gifts seem to be getting bigger and bigger, the cyber hugs and kisses more and more lines ... maybe there is a set amount of 'inbuilt spoilings' that are in each grandparent and as they cant be given in little doses every time they see them they are all lumped together??!!!
Oh knees were ok at tennis today, its the elbow and wrist this week!!!

Ok Evergreen, I married a man with 3 children 5,6,7 yo...I was 19 at the time and my husbund was 261/2. I helped him raise the kids and we had two together...When the oldest was 18 she got married and had her first child when I was 29. But I claim them as I raised them. So I have been a granny for that long...I am 65 now, feel like I am 40.
I have a LO I am going to upload on the DSP site of some of my grand kids...so watch for it...I will do it in a few minutes. gotta get the credits all down first. It is 7:00 p.m. here I have had phone calls from my kids and gifts... but I bought prepared chicken and salads for us for dinner. So I am not cooking today.

I did ask for that, didn't I Kay. Oh well, if you can't laugh at yourself, things are pretty bad! I've popped in to 'fess up to an embarrassing "senior moment"
I posted this layout to the gallery recently http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=97766&nocache=1
then showed my daughter the printed copy this morning and, guess what, I've identified the wrong twin in the photo!!! How bad is that? Am i sacked from the "cool" grannies club now or what?
And I'm wearing my new perfume today so I probably smell pretty good at this moment!
That is too funny. I have photo`s of my twin and I when we were young and have posted a few.Neither of us know which is which. Mom did write on the back of some of the pics but otherwise we can`t tell ourselves apart. How funny is that. We had identical twin boys as neighbors and never did figure who was who. We still have people from our hometown who can`t tell us apart to this day and we are 63. We had loads of fun though. Now we both have grandchildren, are lucky to live in the same town and have hours together and phone one another I would say ten times a day. I spent mother`s day with my daughter here in town and I am going to be a grandma in Nov. Amy will have a brother or sister so I can hardly wait. More layouts on the way for sure. I hope everyone had a great mom`s day. I miss mine so much. It will be 21 years in a week. How I wish I could call her up and say hello and spend time with her. We will meet again some day. I just love this thread and get such enjoyment out of reading everyone`s comments.

How exciting - a new grandchild. I think our families are finished producing now - they are a bit scared another set of twins will pop up I think (we have twin grandaughters age 5 and twin grandsons aged 2) I love the grandkids at whatever age, but new babies are such a joy! the twin thing is fun though, I took one of the girls shopping one day (she was about 3 at the time) We were at the meat section and there was a mirror at the side. She spotted herself in the mirror and said "I didn't know Laura was coming with us today" Then they tricked their teacher recently. She was feeling confident that she had them sorted and called one by name only to be told that it wasn't her name, poor teacher was confused ,then Alyssa said "Just tricking"

Getting confused over a twins id is REALLY not a mortal sin (..be kind ..at our age the only thing we retain is water !!!.).that LO is too gorgeous and I don't think too much trouble to change A to L so no worries !! I used to be so shocked when my Dad got sooo confused and tongue tied calling one of us (there were 5 of us !)so then resorted to #1 !!or #3 !! etc instead !! Then I found myself doing the same and I only had 3 and not even twins !! WTG Ang ..how exciting ..a tiny scorpio to spice up your lives !!..how lucky you are to have a twin so close by as well ....! I LOVED Jill's mirror story ..think that sums up twins pretty well ! Well..happy to see all of us Gogos are so sweet smelling..have a wonderful day and remember..those are NOT hot flushes ..those are your inner child playing with matches !!!
Gosh I could go on forever with twin stories. Our teachers just called us by our last name and whoever answered was fine with them. When we double dated we switched seats and the guys never knew. We had loads of fun and get a lot of laughs out of it now when we are together. We still tend to buy the same clothes in different colours and had all the childhood diseases together. She is also having another grandchild in Oct. It will be her fourth. We both have Lupus and she is more or less housebound. I am still mobile at this time. Thank the Good Lord. Our lives revolve around our children and grandchildren. They are such a joy. So nice to be able to talk about things with other grans. Love this thread.

Just archiving some of the older posts from the Grannies Thread (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13201) so that the site runs more smoothly
(as the web techs shake their fingers at the chatty grannies and the dsp admin says noooo, you can't close that thread...)

Hi, I have been goofing off taking care of my husband who is not well at the time, so have not been chatting much....but what a hoot to read all the stories you have to tell....I loved the story about the mirror and the twin saying that she didn't know Laura had come with them that day shoping. Now I have a strange not really a twin story to tell....when I was in the 3rd grade my step father's two children came to visit, the boy was 3 months younger than me, my step father and my mom are both blue eyed etc.. my step brother and I are the only two kids that have brown eyes and brown hair. the other two kids are blonde and blue eyes...they had pictures taken of my step brother and I and we had on red sweaters...everyone thought we were twins. Well come Jr. high the two step children came to live with us permanently....all our friends knew our story and it didn't bother them in the least. We were in the same classes it seem most of the time in Jr. high and then into high school....our senior year we were in a Eugenics class ( --- education) The teacher was explaining the kinds of twins and said well you all know now that the Mayer twins are faternal twins...the class roared and roared.... the teacher got mad and left the room as he couldn't get an answer out of any one what was so funny. The principal was called in to calm the class and the teacher down and asked for an explination...we told them that I was born in March and my brother was born in May....more laughs...Finially we fessed up we are not twins. We are step brother and sister. We still laugh over that one.

You all bring a lot of sunshine into my day with your chatter...it is nice to know we are all human, even if we leak or don't remember things. My eyes leak a lot....everything seems to make me cry...joy, saddness etc. So Ijust smile and cry at the same time. No one knows what is going on that way. Have a great day.

Ok, I found out how to not have a lot of wrinkles.....you ready to know?
I just fill them in with fat.
OK, I have been filling the wrinkles with fat over the past few years but the they are still there. What do you suggest?
Love your "twin" story, Carma, very funny. Hope your hubby is feeling OK today.
And Ang, I am sorry to hear about the lupus, but pleased to know you are still mobile. You must feel sad for your twin. I am continually amazed by the "twin syndrome"
And Kay, I think those matches have caught the whole house alight today!
And yvspeck, I am so pleased your shower is clean.
And Donut, I am sure you are joking about feeling 65, you are just a chicken yet but we have adopted you into this club on an apprenticeship so I hope you are taking in all this educational and high tech stuff we have been discussing?

What do I suggest for your wrinkles.....hmmmm well I am considering going to one of those noon hour face lift places that do not use surgery to tighten up the face and neck area...but wow is it expensive I hear. You also have to keep going in...so????? Then there is Botox, I am afraid of it myself, but have 3 daughters who are using it and love it. I am the wimp of the bunch in my family...I think I will just grow old gracefully....if I can.
Thanks for the wishes about my hubby, he is having surgery on the 24th, until then he is laid up here at the house. He is having spinal fusions done and is at moderate risk for complications with his heart. So just keep us in your prayers... I will keep you updated....He has been home bound since Sept. He keeps a good spirit and has been easy to please. Just hard to watch him suffer.
Carma I will keep you and your husband in my prayers. Hope all goes well with his surgery and a speedy recovery. It is hard to see them in pain. It was hard for me to see my late husband suffer so. God took him home and eased his pain. I miss him so but I know he is in a better place and will meet him there someday. God Bless you and your family.

I came back to this thread after reading the comment about wrinkles, as I had something funny to share, but then I read the next few posts, so I just want to first say Carma, you and your husband are in my thoughts, I do hope everything goes well and smoothly with the op. You are a wonderful person looking after him so well and doing it whilst keeping your sense of humour and making the rest of us smile as well! As for wrinkles, I dont see any!
Jill, yes, I am taking it all in thanks, I will be keeping notes soon so as i can be the best prepared Granny ever!!!
What i was going to say is this - This morning when we were getting ready for school I decided to skip the shower (practicing at being smelly?!) as we were running late, so I quickly pulled my hair back into a ponytail. Emily(just 10) was standing behind me when she saw it, and said "Oh Mummy! That looks so pretty! You look really young with your hair up!! I like it!" I turned around to give her a big hug and a thank you!.....Then she went and spoilt it...."Well, from the back you do, now you turned round I can see your wrinkles!!" We laughed so hard and she got a jolly good tickling for that!!!!

Thanks Ang and Donut...oh I am glad that I found this group of ladies to chat with... you are so much fun.
Ang I am sorry for your loss...but I know it was good to have him with out pain.
Donut...that was a funny story...just keep your back to her and your hair in a pony tail... I had a friend that in her late 40s and early 50s always wore two pony tails...one on each side they may call them some thing else...she looked like Gidget in the movies. I always got a kick out of her. Last time I saw her she didn't have them and she has lots of wrinkles...too bad she doesn't still wear the pony tails. LOL. I got a kick out of you saying she got a jolly good tickling for her comment. We all need a jolly good tickling every once in a while. ehehehee

I also hope everything goes well for your hubby Carma, it is very hard to watch your loved ones suffer but you sound as though you are doing a great job taking care of him at home. I hope this thread is giving you a chuckle every so often. I know I have been chuckling away this morning!
Regarding the wrinkles - I don't think I wll be doing the Botox thing or the face lift. After all, I don't have to look at my face very often and others are too polite to tell me :D Except for the grandchildren of course who are brutally honest at times. Such as Maddie's "Why do you have stripes on your face?" And Sam, who had a lenthgy and in depth conversation with me regarding my extra chin:D

Oh I just love the twin stories and Donut's pony tail story is just too funny.. Kids really do say the funniest things...Hey I have a good remedy for wrinkles... Stand on your head.... LOL....What falls down has to fall up when you stand on your head.... Well you could at least do it for photos... Na..... That's what photoshop is for.. LOL.. Really I am proud of my wrinkles... I earned every darn one of them and I figure it really doesn't matter what you do with them.. sooner or later they are going to be a part of your life so best just make friends and get on with it..:+)
Carma my hubby is having fusion done too..... L5 and S1... He just finished with the DISCO GRAM ( how's that for a funny sounding test), CT, bone scan blah, blah, blah.... Surgery date is next... Mid June we are thinking.....No other health problems though so we are thankful for that much.... We both will be really happy when it is all over and life can get back to semi normal.. Will keep good thoughts for you and yours....
Congrats on the grand baby to be Ang... We have a new one due in October and another in Dec.. So let see that is August for Kay, October for me, Nov for Ang, Dec for me... Very cool... I see great new GB LO's happening.... Take Care All...

I remembered a wrinkle story that my friend told me about 15years ago...she had one of her grand kids in the basket at the grocery store in the little seat that faces the person pushing the cart...the child kept looking at her and studying her and all of a sudden she said "Grandma who broke your face"

ONe time when I was teaching Sunday School a little 5 year old used to like to sit right next to me and she would caress one of my hands, about 3 weeks into the hand holding she looked and me and said " you poor thing, we need to pray for some new skin for your hands, do they hurt?" I had been on prednisone for about 30 years and my skin had turned very thin and wrinkled on my hands. She was obsessed with my poor as she called them hands.

This is for members of the RGClub ONLY!!! No one else will understand......
I've seen two shows lately that went on and on about how mid-life is a great time for women. Just last week Tricia had a whole show on how great menopause will be....
Pleeeeeeeze!
I've had a few thoughts of my own and would like to share them with you. Whether you are pushing 40, 50, 60 (or maybe even just pushing your luck) you'll probably relate.
Mid-life is when the growth of hair on our legs slows down. This gives us plenty of time to care for our newly acquired mustache.
In mid-life women no longer have upper arms, we have wingspans. We are no longer women in sleeveless shirts, we are flying squirrels in drag.
Mid-life is when you can stand naked in front of a mirror and you can see your rear without turning around.
Mid-life is when you go for a mammogram and you realize that this is the only time someone will ask you to appear topless.
Mid-life is when you want to grab every firm young lovely in a tube top and scream, "Listen honey, even the Roman empire fell and those will too."
Mid-life brings wisdom to know that life throws us curves and we're sitting on our biggest ones.
Mid-life is when you look at your-know-it-all, mobile-wearing teenager and think: "For this I have stretch marks?"
In mid-life your memory starts to go. In fact the only thing we can retain is water.
Mid-life means that your Legs have more red and blue lines than an accurately scaled map of Birmingham
Mid-life means that you become more reflective... You start pondering the "big" questions. What is life? Why am I here? How much Healthy Choice ice cream can I eat before it's no longer a healthy choice?
But mid-life also brings with it an appreciation for what is important.
We realize that breasts sag, hips expand and chins double, but our loved ones make the journey worthwhile. Would any of you trade the knowledge that you have now for the body you had way back when?
Maybe our bodies simply have to expand to hold all the wisdom and love we've acquired.
That's my philosophy and I'm sticking to it!
Love ya all !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carma
05-18-2006, 02:21 PM
Oh this is so funny but so true... hmmmm would I change the knowledge for the body I left behind? WeLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I guess not. I am pretty happy right where I am at.

Hey all the Grandmas (and Donut !!) you've all been very busy !! So many lovely stories..I've been laughing so hard my DH thinks I've lost it ..not such an unusual state I might add ! Ahhh ..the wrinkles ..OMG Kim..if I stood on my head I would HATE to know the repercussions of that although I love the logic behind it ..I think Botox would be less painful ! Nah..Donut has the right idea ..just need to pull the elastic tighter and swop daughters with someone who has a short sighted one ! Oh Carma and my poor SK ..so sorry both DHs are ailing ! This is not good ..it's bad enough when they have a cold never mind something serious like back surgery . A DISCO GRAM ??????? Good grief ...!! Times they are a-changin'. Do they have to stay flat on their backs after ? I was going to say I'm rooting for you both ..here that means I'm gunning for you but in Aus I think it's quite rude to say that !! Just know LOTS of cyber hugs and good wishes are coming your way !! My Howard had a discectomy (?) 8 years ago ..we were still "courting" then LOL .and after the op he had to stay flat on his back for 6 weeks ! I was visiting one day when he rolled off the couch and went down onto one knee (as best he could ) and PROPOSED !!! Ah ..my heart !! He was in so much pain ..how gallant is that ????? Just love this guy ..THEN he could'nt get up again !!! WELL ..we laughed 'til we cried ..what a proposal ..my groom to be like an agonised upside down beetle on the floor trying to be as romantic as he could in his PJs and me rolling on the floor laughing so hard that he could'nt tell whether I was saying yes or no !! That was the start to my VERY happy second marriage ..I'm just the luckiest ! So you see girls ..sometimes good things DO come from these back ops !! Hope you all have a lovely day..mine is over .(after Desperate Housewives !!).and Donut is just beginning a brand new one !!
Kay I just love your litte essay there on the sagging etc. TOO FUNNY. I don`t think I would like to go back at all. I am a widow and really don`t worry about who is looking at what. I am happy at what I am doing. My family and grandchildren are my happiness now. Keeps me occupied and of course my computer which is completely glued to my hand. I love reading all these stories and comments. Makes my day and gives me a good laugh for the day. Thanks all.

I have woken up this morning with what must be the worst cold in history, can only type a few words before spluttering coughing sneezing and blowing all over again!!! lol!!! But reading the comments left while i was sleeping has put a smile on my face!! Thanks for listing exactly what I have to look forward to Kay, (infact I recognise most of them already!!!!) and I would have loved to be a fly on the wall at that proposal!!! When my husband proposed to me I was the one sick in bed with Glandular Fever, that was always a joke between us and my excuse, I was delerious and didnt know what I was saying!!!!(spell check that Jill will you?!) Lol!!! Only joking, I loved him dearly.
I am going to try out the "Fill them with Fat" theory on the wrinkles today, as there is left over Profiteroles and chocolate sauce in the fridge from a birthday dinner I did for a friend last night.
Now do I need to eat them all for it to work I wonder...??!!!

Oh Kay you are a total and true marvel of a woman... Love you SK and love how you can take me from tears of deep emotion to tears of hysterical laughter in just a few paragraphs.... Your thoughts on mid life.... Please woman would you start stuff like that with a warning.. "This post may cause leaking.... Empty bladder and grab tissue before reading" would be a good idea...... Major funny and way to true thoughts my friend..... All the young ones are going to be scared ... LOL.... But I so agree.... I would not trade my knowledge for even a square of my youth filled body... Now if someone could give me both without plastic surgery.......... LOL...
Oh your poor hubby...... ROFL when the poor guy proposes is bad enough, but while in a bad way...Well you are a bit of a devil as well as a marvel....LOL... What a great LO story to tell...... Thanks for the good thoughts.... My hubby is going to be just fine.. It's all just a big inconvenience right now... But this too shall pass.... I really love this thread... .... My man thinks I have gone a bit mad too when he hears me in here all by myself laughing my pants off... Oh well he'll get use to it! ;+)...
Oh Donut.... I am so sorry you are feeling bad... I hate being sick... They do say Laughter is the best medicine so go back and read Kay's funny stuff again while you stuff your wrinkles with all that luscious fudgy leftover fat making @#$%%^&&&& (have no idea what Pro!@#$$$ is) LOL!

Donut, sorry you are unwell. the prescription is "Eat all those profiteroles right now then you won't need to stress yourself worrying about them for the rest of the day" Delirious (correct spelling) = raving. Fairly apt for this thread don't you think? What a way to start the day, bladder emptied, tissues in hand, rolling on the floor with laughter or weeping over other people's misfortunes. I love you all! Profiteroles are choux pastry puffs filled with custard and fresh cream then dipped in chocolate or toffee - they are very good for you, believe me:D
Now those proposal stories - must be true true love I reckon!
I loved your MP symptoms Kay and can relate to all plus add a few more:D
I must have acquired heaps of knowledge in my youth judging by the roundness of my body today - always wondered why I needed all that roundness and now I know.

Some more from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds)
Grandparents don't have to do anything except be there when we come to see them. They are so old they shouldn't play hard or run.
It is good if they drive us to the store and have lots of coins for us.
When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.
They show us and talk to us about the color of the flowers and also why we
shouldn't step on "cracks."
They don't say, "Hurry up."
Usually grandmothers are fat, but not too fat to tie your shoes.
Grandparents don't have to be smart. They only have to answer questions like "why isn't God married?"and "How come dogs chase cats?".
When they read to us, they don't skip. They don't mind if we ask for the
same story over again.
Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don't have television, because they are the only grown ups who like to spend time
with us.
They know we should have snack-time before bedtime and they say
prayers with us every time, and kiss us even when we've acted bad.
It's funny when they bend over, you hear gas leaks and they blame
their dog.

Aww Donut ..hope you're feeling a bit better ..did you eat ALL the profiter fudgy things ?? Think you need LOTS for it to work well i.e. either cure the cold or fill in the wrinkles !! Thanks Jill for that list ..I nearly fell of my chair I laughed so hard ..especially the GAS one !! Here's a sweet grandma story that is quite proper for this truly respectable thread !!
An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws.
“You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!” a girl in the line said to the little fella. Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head.
His grandmother knelt down next to him. “I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles,” she said, while tracing her finger across the child's cheek. “Freckles are beautiful!”
The boy looked up, “Really?”
“Of course,” said the grandmother. “Why, just name me one thing that's prettier than freckles.”
The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma's face, and softly whispered, “Wrinkles.”

Haven't been here for a while, so I am spending time catching up. I too wish your husband well and also you Carmie. I was thinking about the wrinkles and seems to me if you wear your hair in a TIGHT pony tail, it would take some of those wrinkles away. So far I don't have many, but I don't have long hair either. Figure I have gotten away with it for 72 years, why worry about it now? This is such a fun thread so I won't be away long. Take care everyone

Love that Grandma story Kay!!
Thanks for all the get well wishes, it's only a cold and will be gone soon! I have discovered though that the secret to having helpful children seems to be to get sick...I have had cups of coffee made for me, offers of housework chores to be done(???Whats that all about?! They must be after something??!!) And last night I was tucked into bed with a blanket and teddy by my 10 year old saying you go to sleep mummy we can put ourselves to bed!!!! Sooooo sweet! Of course I didnt go to sleep unitl I knew they were safely tucked up in their beds, and even then I had to crawl out and go for a peek to check on them!!!
I am afraid I didnt take the advice, I couldnt quite manage to eat them all, I think there are still a few cream filled profiteroles in the fridge, so I will pass them round....here you go! Maybe a bit soggy by now, but I am sure the fat content is still the same!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!!

Did any of you hear about the lady who wore her hair in a bun? Everymorning she would give it a real big twist and it would tighten her face so the wrinkles wouldn't show so much, one day she gave the bun a big twist and was thrilled to death at what she saw happen in her mirror...not only did she not have any wrinkles, she got a instant breast lift too. Opps sorry I do not intend to offend anyone.

Kay suggested that I post here how I did the letters for the title in my Dr Emily layout so here goes.... I am afraid its not very technical, might look impressive but its easy as, 'cos the letters come as unfilled stitched letters in the kit Ouch! page kit (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1263) so all i did was lay them over the gauze strip also in the kit and then lock all those layers together and using the brush eraser roughly cut around the edges to get the stitched gauze letters look!!
I asked Emily today if she thought she would like to be a real Dr when she grows up and she wrinkled her nose up at me and said "No! Dont think so, too much blood and yukky stuff, I want to be a writer" (Her heroine is Jacqueline Wilson!!!)
So there we are!!
Oh and I must be getting visably better today as the novelty of being helpful seems to have worn off!!!:D

I have just looked at Kims layout....and yes I am leaking!!! Amazing, wonderful, beautiful .... I started trying to imagine the emotions that would be flooding in at a moment like that, and then it happened....I started leaking!!!
Kay, I hope your scrappers block has gone, if not, eat these.....here.... a prescription....I made more profiteroles filled with cream and hot chocolate sauce poured over the top...tuck in and the block will go!!! (I know, I have a Dr in the house!!!)
Carma, if you find that free time anywhere around can you send it back this way?? It seems to have vanished!!

Nice post Kay, I always look for this thread first when I get on the computer. Not getting much done in the way of LOs, been cleaning and getting ready for my daughter that arrived yesterday to be with us during my hubbys surgery. We take him to day for all his blood work and EKG. That will be a full day to him, he wil probably sleep most of the afternoon. It did perk him up to have our daughter come, someone new to talk to and visit with always helps. It is strange Kay, mirrors really do lie...seems I always look better in a mirror than in a picture. Anyone else notice that. Cameras bring bout bulges and wrinkles you knew were there but never saw before.

Kay that was so sweet of you.... Thank you.... And thank you all for looking and commenting on my LO.. It was pure labor of love for sure... I cried the whole while I was writing it.. My hubby teased me about being hormonal.... Why is that a mans answer for every emotion we women have....LOL..
I thought I'd share this funny little poem I found this morning while looking for a quote...With all the talk in this thread about our many short comings I thought this was good one to share..
Congratulations! You're not perfect! It's ridiculous to want to be perfect anyway. But then, everybody's ridiculous sometimes, except perfect people. You know what perfect is? Perfect is not eating or drinking or talking or moving a muscle or making even the teensiest mistake. Perfect is never doing anything wrong - which means never doing anything at all. Perfect is boring! So you're not perfect! Wonderful! Have fun! Eat things that give you bad breath! Trip over your own shoelaces! Laugh! Let somebody else laugh at you! Perfect people never do any of those things. All they do is sit around and sip weak tea and think about how perfect they are. But they're really not one-hundred-percent perfect anyway. You should see them when they get the hiccups! Phooey! Who needs 'em? You can drink pickle juice and imitate gorillas and do silly dances and sing stupid songs and wear funny hats and be as imperfect as you please and still be a good person. Good people are hard to find nowadays. And they're a lot more fun than perfect people any day of the week. ~Stephen Manes, Be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days!
I really like that last part about good people being hard to find these days... Guess he has never visited DSP...You all Rock! My SK you super Rock!....

Hey all the RGCs !!! I've got an excuse for not being here for a while ..we had a HUGE hail storm which knocked our lines out for a few days (it has nEVER hailed here before)..I think Mother Nature is seriously hormonal at the moment ..the weather patterns are sooo out of character !! It has been raining non stop for about 5 days and is freezing ..we are all in a state of shock !!! This time of the year is supposed to be gorgeous ..this afternoon we are going to the Drakensberg for a long weekend away and it's SNOWING !! Running around frantically trying to find warm stuff ..decided to take the biggest bottle of Old Brown Sherry and my electric blankie ..that should sort me out !! Hope everyone else is okay ..your'e all unusually quiet !!! I love your poem my SK ..but I do think wer'e all perfect or at least perfectly good examples LOL !! Scary thought !!! Lots of cyber thoughts with Carma running around at the hospital ..hope DH feeling a bit better now ! Wow Donut ..please thank Dr Em for the BEST perscription EVER for scrappers block ..don't know if it cleared the block but it sure gave me a sugar rush and filled a thousand wrinkles on my tummy and enabled me to upload myLO I'd been battling with for 3 days !!! Well ..wishing you all sunshine ..cyber hugs ..Moi

Carma I am thinking of you and sending you big hugs...hope everything is going well.
Kay! Wondered what was keeping you quiet, I thought maybe your teeth were stuck together with all those profiteroles you'd been stuffing!!!!:D seriously, I hope the weather improves for your weekend away, and if not dont forget to pack the toboggan...(mmm, dodgy spelling there!!) I didn't even know you got snow in your part of the world!:o It is raining and cold here too, but seeing as it is winter I mustn't complain! I seem to be over the flu but Bex and Alex have now got it, so more work for poor Dr Emily....who seems to have gone on strike!

Glad you all liked the poem..Perfectly good examples.. I like that.. But I am not sure I want to know what we are examples of :p :p :p It's so strange to think of you all on the other side of the world heading into winter and that darn flu season while we are headed into summer and the darn heat (Love the desert but 100+ is not my favorite part).. Hail and Snow in SA wow I would say Mother Nature is in a mood.. Kay I hope you are taking your camera as well as Old Brown and Electric Blankie.. Sounds like some great photo op's. I especial those toboggan photos.. LOL.. Hmm wonder how long a cord you have on that electric blankie:D . LOL Oh no the Dr is on strike.. That's too cute... Donut your Emily sounds like a pure joy.... Glad you are feeling better.... Sending Carma and her hubby good thoughts along with you gals.... Am interested to hear how it all goes for them..... Sure glad back surgery today is not like Kay's hubby's 10 years ago... 6 weeks on your back would be one big bummer.... My hubby's Dr say the have them up and walkng the first day and walking up to a mile the first month.... Oh good maybe If I walk with my hubby I can walk off some of those chocolate thingys Donut's shared with us.... Mine did nothing for my tummy wrinkles... Went straight to my bottom.. LOL.. Have a great day or night all.... Have a super weekend Kay...:D :D :D Don't get that electric blankie cord wrapped around any trees if you go tobogganing:D :D :D

I've been very slack around the forums this week. Spending way too much time in the chat rooms and hardly got any layouts done at all (I am SOOO slow at putting a layout together), also we've had the grandkids every day this week doing their breakfasts, school runs, homework and all that stuff. Hope everyone and their husbands are doing OK. Wow Kay, Nature really has thrown you a curly one this week! She is a very fickle friend at times, but she is being a beautiful friend to us right now - I so LOVE the Autumn here where we are!!!! I am spitting chips - my camera has been in repair for over a month now!! Each time I go to check they say it has been escalated to the top of the queue and should be back in a week - Well I think everyone's repair must have been "escalated to the top" over the top of mine!!! We are going away in two and a bit weeks so I have told them if there is no show in two weeks, I will be demanding a brand new one. I wonder if that will hurry them up - so many lost everyday moments have passed unrecorded in the last month and I need some new photos to get inspiration running at top level again. I have lost him recently (inspiration that is) so hoping he will come back to me soon! Big hugs to all the RG's.and their families.

Yeah....I am back, things went very well...now I am a nurse at home for my hubby. We are thrilled so far with his progress. But he is in a lot of pain.
What snow, hail etc..and you can't find enough warm stuff to go on your winter holiday...my goodness that is wierd for you this time of year. First hail ehh..not fun stuff. Stay out of the hail...it will make you have lumps and bumps inbetween your wrinkles.
Carma I am so glad everything turned out okay for your hubby. Sorry he is in pain but I guess that comes with it. Just think what he can do when everything is healed. All the best to him and I am sure he is going to love his nurse.

So pleased you are back Carma and all went well, I hope he continues to make good progress and the pain eases soon. He has a wonderful nurse to take care of him! Love the comment about hail, wrinkles and lumps and bumps! That conjures up all sorts of images!!!!! We haven't got hail here (yet!) but its been very wet and windy the past week, and getting quite cold now too! Roll on Spring! Hope everyone is having a good weekend, Kay will be busy tabogoning down those slopes, electric blankie on her lap, sherry in one hand camera in the other...just think of the great new layouts from that!!!!

Carma so great to hear all is well... You will have to fill me in on all the little details...Looks like my husband will be going under the knife mid to late June....You can tell us what he and I have to look forward to. Did your husband just have one disc fused? My husbands discogram told the Dr. only one disc needs fusing and one just needs shaving.. Guess that's a good thing. But the bad thing is the disc that needs fusing is so compressed the Dr. is a bit worried about being able to pry it apart to put the bone in. They may have to pack it from the side with less than stellar results..... Anyway don't mean to bore you all with yucky stuff like this... Just getting a bit nerves about it all. :+)... LOL.. Donut you paint one funny picture of Kay on her little mini vaca. ;+)
Ok off to the movies... Holiday in the states... No school so going to go see "Over the Hedge" with my 10 year old and grandkids...Have a super day or night everyone...

Donut....love the new bedroom for Emily...wow it turned out terrific. So glad you are better but sorry to hear that the rest of the family is starting to get the darn stuff too.
Kim, my hubby had two disks L4 & L5 fused together they went in from the side then through the back...then they did a S1 which is your tail bone up through the L5 with a long screw like bolt. up through his tail bone. on a scale of 1 to 10 he has pain right now of 7 and is on pain patches and percocet. He had a lot of extra stuff done, so hopefully your hubby will not have so much pain. He starts walking today as far as he can go outside and back...2 times a day and is supposed to go further than this trip each time. Keep increasing it. So I am off to get him up and walking...YIKES THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE FUN.

Yep that sounds about like what's being done to my husband.... vertebrae L4 and L5 fused, screws up through S1 to L5 on one side and then down L5 to S1 on the other and the disk above will need shaving.. Everyone we've talked with who has had this done says the key to a quick and great recovery is walking as much as you can as soon as you can... My thoughts are with you both..
On a lighter note.. Someone just sent me this funny joke... Or at least I found it funny. I can so identify with this one..LOL
A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband.
Suddenly, her husband burst into the kitchen."Careful," he said, "CAREFUL! Put in some more butter! Oh my GOD! You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my GOD! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK!
Careful . CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL! You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never! Turn them! Hurry up! Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them. Use the salt.USE THE SALT! THE SALT!" The wife stared at him. "What in the world is wrong with you? You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?"
The husband calmly replied, "I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm driving.":D :D :D

I love my kids, but there is a special love for a grandchild. My two granddaughters are my treasures. I am far away from them right now, but there is not a single day that I am next to them in heart and spirit. I was there when Kaityn was born and it was an experience that change my whole life. I feel so happy being a grandma.;)

Oh I know how you feel, being close to grand kids when you are far away is difficult, we just have to be more creative and keep in touch the best we can. Never does a day go by that I don't think of those sweet grand children. There is a lot to be said about the saying, "If I would have known how fun it was to be a grandma I would have done that first."

Hey all the RGCs !!! Glad all going well with DH Carma and that you've recruited another scrapper ..well done !! Hi there Foxy ..so happy all these weirdly wonderful Grandmas did'nt deter you from popping in ...I'm sorry your treasures are so far away (like mine!) I tried to explain to someone that ache when you miss them is an actual physical pain in your heart ( they thought I'd lost it ..they were'nt Grandparents !!) so I know how you feel ...sigh .... I peeped into some galleries to see what everyone had been up to and am totally blown away !! Actually ..feel like curling up in a little ball and slinking away quietly ..I've definitely lost my Mojo ..think I left it in the mountains ..everyone is doing such awesome things out there !! EverGreen who totally lost her inspiration and I thought I could scab a bit of sympathy from has a groaning gallery full of beautiful LOs ..Kim ..wonderwoman of the High Desert.. not only has been doing all this amazing photography and journalling and gorgeous pages but is learning Zulu as well !! WTG my Speck ..am so proud of you !! Ang ..your Spring flowers are so lovely ..you're on such a roll ..keep going Grandma !!Donut ..you had me in hysterics toboganning with my blankie and sherry etc ..read it to my DH who lifted an eyebrow and remarked " they certainly know you very well don't they ?!"LOL ..my sweet sweet cyber mates !! Had a lovely break .was freezing cold but the snow had all melted ..good excuse for cuddling up and finishing all the sherry ! How cute is this ??
A first-grade teacher asked her lively charges to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. “Stand and face the flag and place your hand over your heart,” she instructed.
Little Susie stood up but put her hand on her backside. “Susie,” the teacher said, “you are supposed to put your hand over your heart.”
“But I am,” Susie protested.
“No,” the teacher replied, “your heart is in your chest, not back there.”
“No it’s not,” Susie explained. “When my grandma comes to my house, she pats me back there and says, ‘Bless your little heart.’”

Oh very funny Kay!!! Nice to have you back and I am expecting lots of great layouts in your gallery that I can use for inspiration (soon please)!!!!!! But I really don't understand what sort of inspiration you are looking for in Desperate Housewives. Care to enlighten us - my mind is boggling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OHHH, I see, you are going searching for inspiration AFTER you watch DHousewives. You certainly have been through the galleries as evidenced by your comments above.
Welcome to the RGs Foxyroxa - are you sure you are ready for this??? Those other Grannies are a pretty wild bunch let me warn you. I empathise with you regarding the away grandchildren but we are very lucky to have 5 out of 8 living nearby and see them regularly and we are off to see the other 3 in Melbourne soon! Lots of letters go that way covered in stickers, including photos, notes from the other grandkids, anything I can think of that might interest 2 and 4 year olds, and our phone package is geared for cheaper STD calls at any time during the day. Hi to all the other RGs - hope all is well with you in your little corners of the world!

Grandma's Missing
The computer swallowed Grandma.
Yes, honestly, it’s true.
She pressed 'control' and 'enter',
And disappeared from view.
It devoured her completely,
The thought just makes me squirm.
She must have caught a virus,
Or been eaten by a worm.
I've searched through the recycle bin
And files of every kind;
I've even used the Internet,
But nothing did I find.
In desperation, I asked Jeeves
My searches to refine.
The reply from him was negative,
Not a thing was found 'online'.
So, if inside your 'Inbox,'
My grandma you should see,
Please 'copy', 'scan', and 'paste' her,
And send her back to me!
Donut

Hi there all the rebrobates !! Here's hoping you all had a lovely week-end ! Ours was wet and rainy and I'm really feeling quite awful ..we had upcountry visitors I haven't seen for ages and instead of being happy to be with them I just resented them using up my scrapping time !! This is NOT good ..I'm really turning into a hermit quite quite happy with my own (and your !!) company ! Like I say , if anyone annoys me I can just press the X key ..wish it were so easy in real life ..I'm sure we could avoid lots of angst !! Did check out Foxy's site ..wow..no messing with this one !! Sure hope you're on our side sensei grandma !! How did you end up in Japan ?? How fascinating is that ?? We'd LOVE to hear more from you ...don't be so shy !!! How's hubby coming along Carma ?? Still walking like a crab ?? Mine took about a year before he was totally upright again but he is so fine now ..only time he pretends anything is amiss is when the cricket or rugby is on and he is supposed to be doing something else ..then he NEEDS to take a break !!! Hope you had a good weekend Speck ..did you go somewhere lovely ?? Was watching Huff last night and they kept talking about Joshua Tree National Park ..I proudly announced that I knew exactly were that was and everyone was most impressed ! Donut ! Your gallery has lots of red crosses in it ..I keep going back to see yout Children LO and it's not there ..!! The stuff that is there is gorgeous ..geez ..everyone is on such creative curves right now and just leaving me in the dust ..I'm still scrabbling around looking for my mojo !!!!! Totally relate to Jill with all the weird and wonderful parcels that get sent to the GKs ..the lady at the Post office here sees me coming and says "another one for Jack in Australia ?" Ha ha ! I've just spoken to him ..thank goodness for Skype..and the whole conversation revolved around what a big boy he is because he can wipe his own bottom now !!! Bless his heart ..he's 2 and a half !! Anyway ..hope your'e all fine and filling up your galleries while I'm still sulking !! Big hugs..Kay

Kay! Dont tell me my children layout is back to a red cross?! Someone somewhere doesnt like that one! lol!! I have already re-uploaded it twice as it vanished!! Some of my others vanished too when they got moved from this months to last months quick clicks, think it happened to quite a few as there were several red x's around in that gallery!!
And whats all this about still looking for your mojo?! That Autumn and Daisy Delights layouts you have just done are certain proof that someone is telling porkiepies!!!! I know what you mean about visitors taking up scrapping time...I have felt that on occasion too....the worst example was when I had relatives from UK here, hadnt seen them in 5 years and it was so lovely to be with them..but I have to admit a couple of times in the week I did find myself glancing at the clock wondering if they would like an early night so that I got my "me" time!!!!:D
It was Queens birthday weekend here this weekend, so the kids had the Monday off school too, funny we get a long weekend here but in Uk they don't!!!
I hope hubby is recovering well Carma, thinking of you.

Hi Kay it was a somewhat dreary week end here to. Like the forecaster always says "some cloud with sun" Like it isn`t going to be like that everyday. I know what you mean about the scrapping. I have been alone for almost 5 years now and when I go out I can hardly wait to get home to my computer. I am thinking I need help. I don`t watch TV so spend my time here. It must be so exciting to be in Japan foxyroxa2 and congrats on the green belt. I do not envy you your job though. Bless you for being able to help the soldiers and there wives. It must be so hard for military families. God bless them all. Glad to hear that Carma`s hubby is doing well. I love to read all the little comments each day and it is wonderful to be a gran. Best to all of you.

foxyroxa2 wow what a wonderful job, it must be a bit stressful, maybe that is why you are in to getting that brown belt now...some of them might need to be reconed with. Just teasing. I think it is wonderful all the things you are doing.
Kay you asked how we are doing...things are progressing but not fast enough...you know how that is after surgery. Things really seem to be almost the way they were before as he is alot of pain. Tomorrow we go to see a Internist to see about the severe Osteoperosis and what if anything can be done. He says his pain level is about the same but it is a different pain, surgical now and not bone on bone. We will make it, it just needs to be one day at a time. Like Ang I find that the TV programs are not that important any more and I can see how one could be come a hermit...I am happy to talk on the threads or chats. As far as company, I love to have them and it is nice to see them go. LOL....I am working on a video right now for my grandson so haven't posted much as far as LOs I will get this done this week I hope and then can be back to doing my layouts. I do need to get the one for gimme more scraps with the Moody kit..oh it is a neat looking kit. How is everyone likeing the quick clicks? At first I found them very difficult but finially figured them out...quite by accident. Now they move a lot faster. I also like the way you can mix and match them. using pieces from one to go into another. I have so much to learn. Take care and hope everyone gets feeling better and past there blocks of scraping. Right now I just feel tired...think things are catching up with me. bye for now.

I'm thinking they will be shaking their heads in total agreement with what they read...Took a peek at your gallery too and must say if those LO's you did were done "without" your mojo workin then I can't wait to see what your mojo has got in store for us because those were simply marvellous darling....
I must also say it made me feel so good to hear you all say what I find myself thinking and feeling so often these days... And you know only another scrapper can really truly understand...I went to dinner tonight with friends to celebrate a birthday and found myself thinking about a LO I have in mind and wondering what you all have been posting and then could not wait to be home and on my puter..I get teased by friends and family quite a bit... I have one friend who paper scraps, she totally gets it... But she is the only one other than my DSP pals.. Foxy you are sounding like one spunky grammy... Green Belt.... Wow... Sounds exhausting and painful... I am afraid this grammy would end up on her not so little bottom.. I too "love" your blinkie...Now Evergreen about those wrinkles you did not see in my DailyLife LO... Darling you must know photoshop is a "Senior" girls bestfriend... LOL... I also learned a photographer's top secret secret on how to make a subject appear slimmer.... You squish the photo ever so slightly... Dont go overboard or you will end up looking like something in a fun house mirror but just a touch can take a good 5 lbs off without giving up those yummy fudgy thing bobbers Donut was sharing with us or becoming a "Green Belt" like or newest comer... Carma sounds like the road to a pain free back is going to be a long hard one... I agree with Donut be sure to take care of yourself as well through all...It's so easy to forget... Ok all you lovelies I am so tired I could drop...Tomorrow I will have to get busy and peek in on "all" of your galleries to see what great things you have been up to... Hugs from the Hot as #@% desert... (101 here today)

Can't upload/ download/ open thumbnails / send Kims MUCH belated pm / and there are just red crosses EVERY where !!!! In fact probably won't beable to get this off either ..so seeing as I'm sooo cranky ..will just go to bed !!! Hope you all have a better day ! Speak to you soon I hope ..Kay
Carma

Kay I am not getting any red crosses except for the one at the bottom of your signature line.
I just uploaded a LO to the gallery using dsp products and it went in fine. I have seen these before on Donuts postings too...but that is all I think that was yesterday or the day before.

Over by the button that lights up there is a triangle sign not sure what that means on your signiture line too. Maybe it means something.

Kim it got to 106 yesterday and broke a record, it is supposed to get up to 106 again today. When Dick and I took our walk last night it was still 104and almost 10:00 p.m. It did cool off over night and I have the back door open getting some fresh air in here...but it is time to close it now or it will be hotter than blazes in here. I will turn the air conditioner on again about 2:00p.m. Try to keep cool.

Hey, Kay, relax, deep breathing will help, kick your puter several times and I promise that would solve the problem.;) Just kidding!! Maybe it needs a little cleaning and defragmentation of the drive. Get rid of all the Intenet junk. Good luck!! i've been there!!Thank God I have a techy husband!:D

KAY, deep breath in....and out.....in......and out.....pour a big G&T, sip slowly, more slow breaths in .....and out.....more sips of G&T.....now gently, preferably wearing super-squidgy-fluffy slippers, kick computer, tell it how naughty it is and you are not going to give it any attention until it starts behaving. Go to bed and in the morning it might have decied to behave for you!!!
I dont know if it is connected with your problems, but I had heaps of emails today to say layouts of mine have been moved as they were rearranging galleries, some of them when i went to them are now red crosses, so we will see if they right themselves or if i have to re-upload them! Maybe that was all going on when you were trying to upload and visit pages etc so it wouldn't work? I hope it sorts out soon for you.
Carma 106??????!!!!!! Oh my goodness, that is HOT! I was just sitting here wishing it wasn't so cold and longing for summer, but I think I would rather be too cold than that hot! It got down to 3 deg last night here,(outside, but it felt the same inside!!!lol!!) and now my clock says 15deg in my room. I have to find the heater and get it going for tonight...maybe you can blow some of your heat over here?!
Carma

It was 106 at 2:30 this afternoon, looks like another record day we are supposed to have this for about a week.

Well ..we all know you are HOT HOT grandmas out there !!!! Hubba hubba !! Actually at 100 + you are sizzling !!! Wow ..have'nt converted it but I think it is over 40 and that is mighty hot !I'm like Donut sitting here shivering with my big slippers on ,,(the ones I kicked my puter with !!) thanks for all the breathing advise .but it was the G&T that worked best !! You are actually a much better doctor than Em (don't tell her I said that !!). The last time someone told me to clear my cookies I told them where to get off and not to be so rude ..but maybe that is the problem !! Will just hold on for the red crosses and see if they right themselves..but I also can't open thumbnails in your galleries..I get "Gateway Timeout " ???All very frustrating for an impatient Gogo like me !!! I'm happy to see everyone else is so perky ..way to go with your green belt Foxy !! Saw you briefly at yesterdays chat before I got bumped out and could'nt get in again !!(Geez ..I really am a'bitchin are'nt I ??) Hey Ang !! Great to see you resurfacing here ..I was convinced it was YOU that had disappeared into the bowels of the computer ..so pleased you were copied and pasted and sent back to us !!!! Kim !! My poor neglected wonderful Speck !! Glad you had such a great weekend ..hope you took a million pics !! I tried so many times to get pms off to you and keep getting that same "Timeout " message ..now it looks like you may have got them because seems like you replied but ...shriek ....it won't open so I can't tell !!!! Carma ..I can tell even in the heat you are one very cool lady..videos ..mmm...need some lessons there !! I think if that light is on it means you're on line ..not sure though ! Jill is one smart cookie and has got those QCs wrapped ..actually so has Kim..I am mortified to report that I took longer to do the one and only one I attempted than I'm going to admit !!Maybe 'cos I'm left handed ??? LOL ..I ALWAYS blame that or the fact that jupiter is rising on ANYTHING that goes wrong !! Well ..going to look on the bright side ..the sun is shining and the monkeys are playing right outside my window so I can't help laughing at them !! I'm going to LEAVE this computer alone the whole day ..AAACCK !!! Will probably come out in spots !!!..and maybe all will be well tonight !! Hugs to all ....Kay

To be a member of this esteemed Grandma's club there are a FEW things that it is necessary for you to know and to have :
EVERY RGC member SHOULD HAVE...
A set of screwdrivers,
a cordless drill, and
a black lace bra...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD HAVE...
One friend who
Always makes her
Laugh...
And one
Who lets her cry...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD HAVE...
A good piece of furniture
not previously owned by
Anyone else in her family...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD HAVE
Eight matching plates,
Wine glasses with stems,
And a recipe for a meal that will
Make her guests feel honored.
EVERY RGC member SHOULD HAVE...
A feeling of control over Her destiny...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
How to fall in love Without losing herself...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
HOW TO QUIT A JOB
BREAK UP WITH A LOVER
AND CONFRONT A FRIEND WITHOUT RUINING THE FRIENDSHIP...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
When to try harder... and
WHEN TO WALK AWAY...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
That she can't change
The length of her calves,
The width of her hips, or
The nature of her parents...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
That her childhood
May not have been Perfect...
but; Its over...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
What she would and Wouldn't
Do for love or more...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
How to live alone...
even if She doesn't like it...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
Whom she can trust, Whom she can't,
And why she shouldn't Take it personally...
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
Where to go..
Be it to her best friend's kitchen table..
Or a charming inn in the woods...
When her soul needs soothing...
(or to the Grandma’s thread at DSP!)
EVERY RGC member SHOULD KNOW...
What she can and can't accomplish
In a day...
A month...
And a year...

The poem is lovely, but what the heck is an RBC?????. I am not used to cyber vocabulary yet.:o Carma you are melting at 106, Kay is shivering at alittle over 40 and I am drowning here. It has been raining cats and dogs, frogs and turtles, and everything else for the past 3 weeks with little bursts of sunshine in between. Yes, I was a little bit in the computer just checking what happens in these chatrooms because(believe it or not) I have never been on a chatroom. But everybody was typing so fast that I got lost. and also there was this coupon for something free that by the time I came back from buying the stuff, I reeeeeeally was totally lost. The chat was on a totally different subject. :p I guess I have to practice rapid reading and typing. See ya'

Wow, Kay has monkeys playing out side her window, I have heat waves coming off the pavement, foxy is about to drown and donut has her slippers on chivvering. What a wonderful world right?
I am up and dressed it is 6:30 and I am on my way to a volunteer position at Temple a for two hour period. Then I plan on hitting Staples and picking up some cardstock.
Loved the poem, that is the truth for us.
I have Microsoft Digital Imaging Plus and it has a wonderful program for doing videos, you can narrate them and also put music in them. If None of you have that program, you can download a free trial copy from Microsoft for 60 days I believe it is and try it out. It is so much fun. The hardest thing is decieding what pictures to use. I just have to dothe narrating of the pictures I have in and after the 9th my daughter will email me the pictures of the graduation and I will put those in and burn the CD and off they will go to them. Yes, I am not getting to go to tht Graduation or to my Grand daughters Dance recital, but it is going to pay off staying home and getting hubby back on his feet. It is going slow but I see improvement. Meds are making him sleep too much and we are cutting back on them now so that should improve. All is well in this little corner of the world. talk to you later.

Super words of wisdom Kay.... I especially like the learn when to walk away and where to go for soothing wisdoms (your version of course is the best)... LOL...I did get one PM from you Kay but sadly twas not your lost words just your tears over them :( :( :(..... Don't fret my wonderful SK the thread is merely tangled... Foxy you described my first five visit to a dsp chatroom... I am finding it easier with each new visit though so my advice is just hang out a few times get what you can out of each visit (usually at least a little something is learned) and it will get easier... I still don't even try to keep up with the big chats just sit, read what I can, learn and grab the goodies :D :D :D . Ok Carma my Dad use to say "I thought I had it bad because I had no shoes till I saw the man who had not feet" What a gruesome tale to tell a child... I will take 101 over 106... LOL.... 106-32= "74" degrees "Celsius" my lovely RGC's and I turned on my big fan Kay and Donut (poor lung capacity no blowing for this gal) pointed it South East... Kay you should be feeling it first.... Donut next :D :D :D Now if you all could be so kind as to return the favor those of us in California and Utah would be much obliged :D :D :D Bye for now all..

Kim, you are right in those words of wisdom your father used to say...my hubby and I have said them so many times ourselves...We are so thankful for the progress he has made and feel like it will get better...it has only been 15 days since his surgery. Last night he cleared up the table after dinner.. so wow that was progress. As far as graduation and dance recitals that is just the icing on the cake. They are keeping me posted with the activites via email and pictures and phone. I told them we are there in spirt and the other side of the family grand parens will be there so it is not like no one came. lOL
We will try to get up that way before the end of the year to see them.
I am home from my volunteer work now am going to take both of the shih tzues to the vet...both have a problem, hope it is nothing serious. Lump on one and caughing with the other. YIKES worse that kids. I hope to scrap this afternoon. Got some beautiful pictures of magnolias on my walk with the dogs last night. Want to do something with those.
I agree with the scraps being fast moving. I about had a heart attack the first one I went into. I have been going any way and do pretty good now...the one I do is Lauren's gimme more chats... I know some of you do that one too. she is a lot of fun.

Aww !! You know you guys are just the BEST !! I just love checking in to see what every one is upto ..do you think this little corner is legit on DSP ?? I think we'll probabaly get booted of one day for using up space !!! Just wanted to tell you how special you all are !! My computer is still CRAWLING and timing out ..worse than dial-up !!..and it takes such an age to open anything so I've given up !! (for now !!) DSP says they've had stacks of complaints and have got their techies onit ..so hold thumbs for tomorrow !! Goodnight all ..its' freezing here and I've been huffing and puffing your way til I'm quite blue ..Kim ..you're gonna have to blow harder darlin'...the temp DROPPED !! Those blimming Angolans must have nabbed all your heat !! See you tomorrow XX
Donut
06-07-2006, 06:31 PM
Thanks for fanning all that heat this way Kim,:D Sorry it missed you Kay, that fan of Kims must be pretty powerful, I think it shot straight past you and hit here! Its not warm but definately a lot less cold than the past few days, and the sun is out too which always helps!!
I'll blow some cold air north west.....hope it cools you down a bit Carma and Kim!
I hope the computer troubles right themselves soon Kay, I have got to get my laptop looked at, the power lead wont stay connected and every 5-10 seconds I have to take it out and push it in again...ok when there is enough battery power for it to run on battery, but then once it starts to stay on AC power for a while I tend to forget to keep checking, then it goes to battery, runs the battery down, warns me AS it is hibernating so there is nothing I can do! FRUSTRATING!!!!! I am getting quite good at one handed typing though and one handed photshopping, as the right hand is always on the power lead!! Hey Kay I think you said you were left handed too?! My husband was left handed as well as me, but none of our 3 kids are...you would think one of them would have been!
Have a good day everyone, hope you cool down/warm up!

Hey Kay, nobody told me before now that I can't change the width of my hips!!!!!! I have been wasting my life trying to get them smaller!! Terrific verse, and some inspirational words in there. I qualify for lots of those things but I don't have a black lace bra!!!
Foxy, I identify with you on the chat room thing. i was terrified the first time I went in there and still panic a bit trying to keepup, grab the freebies, answer anything directed to me etc etc. Now I have learned to right click on the freebie link they give, choose "open in new window" , click back onto the Chat room and go back later to the other window to download, otherwise I get lost too! My computer is a bit slow and sometimes I will type a whole sentence (while looking at the keys)then look back to find that I had no "blinking" cursor (intended as a rude word AND the technical term:D) and by then the moment in the chat I was trying to contribute to has passed!
Pleased to hear you husband is going well, Carma, and sorry about the dogs - you certainly are in the midst of many medical crises at present.
Getting colder here now, cold frosty minus degrees in the mornings but lovely sunny days - I LOVE WINTER otherwise I would grab some of Kim's hot air as it passes over me on the way to Donut, but you can have it Donut, summer will come too soon for me anyway!! But send some of that rain here Foxy, we are in drought and need heaps of rain badly.
And Kay, monkeys outside your window, what a lovely experience, beats kangaroos on the golf course!!
We are off to see the Melbourne grandkids next week (and their parents of course:D) I will come back with heaps of photos and inspiration (I hope) as to what to do with them.
Cheers to all the RGB's If you are not here when I get back, I will know you have been booted (hopefully they will do it gently with those nice soft fluffy slippers Donut mentioned)
I will probably have time to pop in here again before I go but if I don't take care of yourselves and your loved ones all of you.

Sorry to hear of the computer problems Donut and Kay, I have some good news... my hubby got up this afternoon and wanted to go to a little mexican resturant and we did...he did pretty good, and he forgot his cane and did very well with out it. Now he is paying for it and is tired...it is a good tired I think...he knows he can do it. We saw some friends and they were shocked said he looks so good and standing straight...just walks a little funny. YEAH>
Now when he has a good day it isusually followed by a tough one...I will think positive and think it will be good. I can see a little light at the end of the tunnel. I have been scraping this afternoon and have a couple to upload, guess I better get to it. Have a nice evening and day, it only got up to 99 here today, cooling off we have rain coming through the northern part of the state. Kangaroos on the golf course...oh how fun. See how life is so different. we have a cougar in our area, about a half mile away that is sighted almost every day...kinda scarey.
Carma my son lives in British Columbia and he has had cougars and bears down on his property. They caught the two bears in traps and they are being relocated. It has been decent weather here warm and sunny now for two days but supposed to be cooling off for a few days. I am so glad to hear your hubby was out and about. I loved the poem Kay. I can relate. I have learned to live alone now it has been almost five years since my hubby is gone. It is still very lonely at times but keep busy. I also don`t own a black bra and I have never been in the chat room. I am scared to death of those places. I could never keep up with everyone. I love this thread though and all the great comments. It is nice to hear about all the different places everyone lives. Every day I wake up is a great day. I wish you all great days and loads of them. Take care. Ang

Carma that is fantastic news!! I am so pleased he felt up to going out, it must have been lovely for both of you. No doubt tomorrow will be a nice lazy day to make up for the tiring one today. One day at a time..it can only get better from here on.
Monkeys, Cougars, Bears and Kangaroos?!! We dont really get anything scarier than a possom around here, so I suppose I should be pleased, but then again it would be sooo cool to see Monkeys from my window or a bear that wasnt in the zoo!!!
I have just spent the past 3 hours trying to get Emilys project finished with her, she had to make something that would time one minute....sounds a lot easier than it turned out to be!!! They get maximum points for being within 3 seconds of a minute...!!! So, Real Grandmas, I have just worked out another advantage to being a Grandma and not a mum...NO HOMEWORK!!!!!
We have ended up with a water bottle with a sipper top, tipped upside down with a baloon over the top which is threaded into another larger bottle, tape on the bottom of the first bottle covers a pinprick hole and when it is removed the water starts to flow into the balloon and then drips through to the other bottle...the balloon has pin pricks in it to let the water through. Well i lost count as to how many times we did it until it took one minute exactly as near as we can get! Oh such FUN!!!

Donut that sounds like a theme for a great LO...would love to see it.
Kay, there is a place in the forums for off scrapbooking chat topics. This could maybe be moved there. I was there a bit ago.
It is raining here and feels nice and cool...this looks like a good day. I have two friends coming over for a swim in the indoor pool in our club house. So that will be refreshing. Lots to do today.

Carma Yippeeeeee... I am so happy to hear hubby has had a good day.. I was beginning to get a bit panicked about it all... When my hubby last went to see his surgeon there were 3 ladies who had all had the same surgery, all were doing so well and talked as if it was all just a peice of cake... Then I hear you and Kay talk and I am feeling like it's all so much more than we have been expecting... Anyway I am so glad to hear he was up to dinner out and I am sure it was great for you as well.. Like Donut said "One day at a time"
Cougars and Bears so scary... Kangaroos and Monkeys sound much friendlier all though I think I remember hearing those Kanga's can get pretty mean too... We found a lovely snake in our garage a few days ago.. Not a Rattler thank goodness. Took photo of the slithering fellow with my cute as a button 2 year old grandson trying to give him a kiss and feed him a rock.. LOL.. We also discoverd the cutest humingbirds nest. Momma humingbird made it in the bottom of one of our pool tiki's... Yesterday one of the eggs hatched... Right now the little baby looks like a little black jelly bean.. Lots of fun to watch ... A few years ago we found a skunk in our washing machine.... Guess he wanted to get clean... LOL... Skunks are not desert creatures so we are thinking he must have hitched a ride with someone.... We also have quail, roadrunners, coyote, desert tortoise, a variety of snakes, rabbits out the whazoo (sp?) an occasional bob cat, moutain lion and have even had a bear or two come down out of the nearby mountains...
LOL... Pam I feel for you... Try being a grammy and still have a 10 year old at home.... We have been working on a, so far, 10 page report on the State of Califonia... A 4th grade requirement.... Last month we had to make a California mission , the month before that a science fair project...School will be out in just one more week and I will tell you I am looking forward to it as much as she is.... Hey Pam would your Emily be interested in an American 10 year old pen pal ? Might be fun for them to share girlie stories...
Have had a chance to peek in everyone's gallery and Wow are you all making some really terrific LO... Ang I tried to find scapinwillies.... I really want that tutorial, but came up with zilch... Could you pretty pretty please send me a link..... I would be ever so thankful.... And Kay you must have gotten some of your bugs stomped out as I saw one awesome LO in your gallery... What a beautiful job you did with it and what a beauty of a trout... My husband was drooling and major jealous.. Ok all you lovely RGCs I have rambled and am procrastinating as well... Need to get a LO going as you all are leaving me in the dust and my slug trail is looking really yucky... :+).... Peace Out!

PEACE OUT !!!! The hippy child with-in .....LOL Kim is in full swing tonight !! What a fantastic assortment of weird and wonderful beasties you've had in and out of your life ..puts my monkeys to shame !!! What is a pool tiki ?? That baby hummingbird must be the teeniest thing ever ..I would think twice about doing a LO of a precious grandchild kissing a snake ...you might get reported !!! Wow Carma..if your'e out at restuarants already you're doing really well (both of you that is !!) Well done ..must be all the TLC he's getting .Don't fret Kim ..my friend had a fusion a while back ..she was up and about in no time ..everyone is so different ! When is this happening for you ?Ahh Donut ..your'e right about the no homework ,although I'm sure I'd be roped in if I were closer !! What a daunting project ..have a REALLY weird vision about your invention and I think I need something visual ..when I helped the kids and they got anything less than an A I would get all indignant !!! This is actually supposed to be a short note to say wer'e going away tomorrow ..taking the caravan to Salt Rock then going to watch our Springboks play Scotland (rugby for the uninformed !!) in Durban and spending a few days away ..more scapping time gone ,,sigh ..... Got the BEST surprise tonight ..my son Kevin arrived unexpectedly for a fleeting visit ..well ..everyone knew he was coming except me !! I was SOO chuffed ..last saw him at Christmas and was starting to get that achy feeling !! He's my "Baby" at 22 and the light of my life !! Anyway ..gotta go ..still have to do all the preparing for the caravan and it's 10.30 already !! Jill ..have an awesome holiday ..will probably miss you ..see you all soon and PEACE OUT from me too XXX

Sounds like everyone is in good spirits and off doing exciting things today!
Have a good trip Kay, and Jill have a good time in Melbourne, dont forget your cameras!!
Kim all that wildlife...makes my place seem rather boring! I have 2 rabbits in the garden...pet ones in hutches though! We do get wild rabbits, possoms, which as a kiwi I am supposed to hate as they are a pest, but between you and me I think they look rather cute!!! There are a few native kiwi birds in a nearby reserve and occasionally at night we hear them calling which is quite cool!
Kim if your daughter is interested I am sure Emily would love an American 10 year old penpal, she loves writing and emailing, they could moan to each other about how much time their mums spend on their computers scrapping!!! LOL!!
Carma I hope you have a good swim and hubby has a good day today.
Oh and the homework project went in today....I just hope it works ok when she does it at school. AND you wont believe it but I didnt take any photos !!!! I see a reconstruction coming on tonight..!!
Ok so "Peace out" everyone, that could be our new catch phrase!!:D

Jill enjoy your Grandkids, Kay your rugby game.. And Carma keep hubby moving forward slowly but steadly..Foxy kick some Karate Bootie and Ang don't forget I am begging you for that link:D :D :D ...

I have spent a day and a half trying to get the microphone to work on my computer...The cute little things sits up under my moniter screen. I have read the book and wondered what is wrong, I noticed the light woudn't come on, Dick came in and read the directions to me and I still couldn't figure out what was wrong...I haven't used it for about 6 or 8 months. I kept telling Dick...the light doesn't come on. I called Best Buy and asked questions they didn't know squat about it but wanted me to bring in my tower and for $30.00 or more would tell me what they could find out. Well I told them I was a woman that couldn't bring in the tower, so they suggested I come in and check out the microphones and see which one I have, they said they cost between $30.00 and $39.00...I said well what if they don't work either when I get them home they said bring them back...well I reloaded the Logitech software that I have and went to play it and it wasn't the microphone spftware. So I turned the modem to the side and was going to put the microphone in the USB plug... your husbands will appreciate this...I know where the USP plugs are all over the computer...had moved the one to the microphone 4 times already to the tower... well after I plugged it into the side of the moniter, I glanced back and saw this long slender thing black in color on a silver square base with a button on it... I about passed out that was my microphone, I pressed the button and on it came . What in the world was I talking to for a day and a half trying to narrate my video... You have already probably guessed what it was...it was the remote to our wireless mouse. LOLOLOL
I screamed and shouted. Dick said what is wrong or what is so funny. I ran in and told him what I needed to do...dye my hair blond and get a big box.... we had a joke passed on to us about a blonde that couldn't get her computer to work and finially the technician told her she needed to box the computer up and send it back to the company, when she asked why he said you are too dumb to have a computer. LOLOLOL
Ok...stop laughing.. I turned on the video and the microphone works great I turned it up loud and called the dogs...and they came running. I am on a roll now. Got about half of the video narrated and saved. YIPEE this is too long sorry.

Kim, Each patient is different...as each surgery is different, our Dr said to not expect to be like everyone likes to say the pain is gone after surgery, the amount of surgery they did on him was far more than they usually do. They told us is would take more time. Dick has a lot of pain but it is more surgical and hardware in side to get used to. He has had a good day again today. His appatite has come back and things taste good again. He ate a wonderful dinner, I was really pleased and he kept telling me how good it was. Up to now nothing sounded good to him and even pie and ice cream had no appeal.
I think we are getting to the point of change, he says he still hurts but he is talking good etc.. He has only taken the percicet one time in two days, he is still on the pain patches...but if he can get off of the percicet before the 10th of July they will be able to start weaning him off of that. He took a nice walk around the block with not as many rest stops...he carries his walker and uses it just for his rest to lean on. Around the house he isn't even using the cane now. So we are feeling like it is starting to look like things are on the mend. Don't worry. This was a huge surgery and we both feel now like it was more than we expected. it has only been 15 days. So that is not bad. We will keep you all in our thoughts. Keep you posted for the next 3 weeks and I bet you will hear a great story from this end of the computer.

OMG I just found this thread (only my second day here)....I just have to say I loved it!! I am a grandma to a 14 month old little boy, Aiden. he lives with me and I babysit him everyday when his daddy goes to work. It's so much different from being a mom.

Hi, Ladymiste, welcome to the RGC (Rebrobate Grandma's Club) That's Kay's name for this club. (if you want to know the meaning of rebrobate, you have to ask Kay, 'cause I don't know) I looked it up in the dictionary and couldn't find it. Maybe is a cyberword. I envy you, ;) that you are there for your grandson, that is admirable. I wish I could have my grandaughters with me, because, you know, with the knowledge that you acquire throughout the years, I certainly could be a better mom today. And is true, is not the same as being a mom.:D :D :D

Hi Ladymiste,Welcome. I am so impressed that you found US on only your second day here. Goes to show how important we are in the DSP fraternity:D
Grandchildren are wonderful, we have eight aged 13, 11, 8, twins 6 in two weeks, 4, 2 (another set of twins). The first 5 live nearby and the other three live in Melbourne and we are off to visit them this week. Reprobate means "abandoned in character" and refers to the bad behaviour of certain members of this thread (not me of course):D:D:D. Be careful, we leak, laugh, tell jokes, have monkeys, bears, cougars, kangaroos, possums and other animals in our various vicinities so absolutely anything could happen here! Hope you enjoy our company.

Hi all, it has been a week end, that is about all I want to say about that...nothing interesting. Now the week starts today and I have lots of stuff to do...Dr. appointments and such...eyes, bone density and hopefully an ear Dr. thrown in there...what a bunch of exciting things. I have enjoyed the pools this last week, had a couple of friends over and they brought me veggies from their gardens. That was exciting. We did the floot thing with the long noodles and visited...it was fun.
I got several LOs done too, I am going to go upload a couple now. I am joining in the Tfor 2 challange on gratitude journals. I think that would be good for me. I still will do the gimme more with Lauren also. Only problem is I will have to do a chat with the T for 2 at 6:00 a.m. not sure I can make it to that. We shall see.
Sounds like you week end was fun Kim, and we are so glad to have you back Kay...Evergreen so good to see a posting from you and I was glad to see what our name of this group really meant. So ok...what are the rest of you up too?

I have been AWOL for 2 days, no internet connection!!! AGH!!! We had a power cut which wiped out a huge area, and also caused problems for my internet provider which took them 2 days to solve....no power for one day is one thing, but no internet even when the power is back on??!!! I tried to stay calm and act as if it didnt matter, don't think I fooled the kids though!!!
As if that wasnt enough to make me turn grey the problems I have had with my laptop (having to take out and put in the power cord every 5 seconds or so) have got worse, and it is impossible to use it at all now!! The helpful chap I spoke to somewhere in India said that it sounded like it was, maybe madam, 'stuffed' (technical term) but possibly just needed a new cable, he gave me a number to ring in NZ, they in turn put me on to someone else also in Nz but the other end of the country who asked if I could "pop in with it" Not without a plane ticket, no I cant! Anyway he turned out to be very helpful and told me that there are several possibilities, the worst case would be the system board needs replacing ($800!!!!!) second one the female socket needs removing and repairing, replacements arent available. Third (my personal favourite!) I need to buy a new power lead....please keep your fingers crossed for that option! I have to test it out by trying a power lead from another laptop the same, as I dont know anyone with the same I am taking it to the shop tomorrow and going to ask to try their lead!! If it works hopefully they can get me a new one, if not I am back to ringing my friend in Wellington to see what the next move would be. I have hijacked the kids computer for this evening so that I can have my DSP fix, but I have no photoshop on here....I can't do any layouts....and there are so many cool things this week I wanted to do!! Its a really odd feeling not having my laptop! Sorry I have rambled on here!
Kim I am glad you had a great weekend, we went to San Diego in 2000, for one day. so only got to see Sea World! Lol!! It looked a lovely area from out of the coach windows though!
Carma I hope your hubby is improving everyday, sounds like you have a busy week ahead!

Hey all the rebbies !!! Sorry Foxy ..no wonder you did'nt know what a reBrobate was !! (losing your touch there Jill ..your'e supposed to keep us all thesaurusy..well brownie points for a nice meaning ..mine said reprobate means "of loose morals "!!!! How rude !!)Love that poem Foxy ..we should remember these things and not be so hard on ourselves !! Huge welcome Ladymyste ..what a brave thing you are joining all these leakie silver surfers (see next post !!) peeped in your gallery and met Aiden..he's gorgeous ..are'nt you just so lucky to have him in your life every single day ?? ..sigh ....please don't be frightened off..wer'e all pretty harmless !! Poor poor Donut ..breathe in ...breathe out..breathe..breathe..breathe..have a tim- tam !!!!Hope it's sorted soon but I do relate ..my woes are only JUST sorted ! Actually I think it was more my service provider 'cos I had an e-mail from Meryl who was having exactly the same hassles ! Still need see lots of those gorgeous LOs that you've all been churning out..could only see the thumbnails but not open them !Carma ..what is a floot thing with a long noodle ?? Something you do when talking to your mouse ?? LOLOL you daft Grandma ..I nearly fell off my chair laughing at that one although I should'nt be so rude ..I do things like that all the time !!! We had a lovely weekend away ..really rejuvenated my soul !!..the weather was and still is absolutely gorgeous , the sea so clean, we won the rugby and when we got back my computer had righted itself so all is good in my little world !! Glad you had a great time too Kim ! Last night I got to see a dvd of Emily Rose (my bonus DGD who is only due in 11 weeks time )..Bonny had a 3d scan/ultra sound thing ..wow ..how awesome !! I could'nt believe the detail of her little chin and chubby cheeks and perfect pouting little mouth .and those tiny starfish hands that never stopped moving .she is so beautiful and weighs 1and half kilos already !! Modern technology is really amazing ..all we got to do in our day (many moons ago !!) was listen to the baby's heartbeat ! Anyway ..enough rambling from this dizzy Gogo ..big hugs to all of you .PEACE OUT !!!!!!!!

A follow up !!!
Please do not worry!
Your Grandma's not finished yet.
We found her in our computer
While surfing on the net.
With other “silver” surfers
Over 50 just like me,
She's been searching in the web
For her long lost family tree.
She's peering through the screen at us,
She's locked - could not get out.
With cries of desperation,
She then began to shout.
"F1, F1, F1," she called.
Was this a cry for help?
So, pressing all the keys,
I then let out a yelp.
"She's free," I said.
“I wonder where she went.”
And, looking in my "Outbox",
I saw where she'd been sent.
So look inside your "Inbox",
She should be there today.
She promised to be more careful
Next time she goes out to play.

LOl Kay you do find the funniest poems!!!! I love that one!
I have got on the kids computer again...school has its uses!! Its just frustrating that I cant scrap, I even thought of trying to see if I could do anything in Word I got so desperate with an idea I had last night! lol!!
I am glad your problems seem sorted Kay, lets hope everything behaves itself from now on! I must admit I wondered what a "floot thing with a long noodle" was, but thought maybe it was a US term I was not familiar with? Fill us in Carma, it's not good for poor Kays brain to be having all these visions of what it may be!!!!
I am sure, (or at least I hope!) that I said Welcome Ladymiste?! If not apologies and double welcomes! Watch out, some of 'them' are a bit nutty around here!! :D ;) :p I am not yet a Grandma but am learning the tricks of the trade so that I am ready!!! I have 3 children aged (almost)16 (almost) 12 and 10.
Emily(10) has to make up some tongue twisters for homework this week, I think the word "thesaurusy" might come in useful! lol!! So far we have one - "Tim tried to take Toms Tim-Tams, Toms Tim-tams Tim tried to take" still working on that one to make it a bit harder to say!!
I am taking my laptop to the shop this afternoon while Em is at French, so cross everything possible that all I need is a new lead please!!!
"Peace out" everyone and have a good day!

We did the floot thing with the long noodles and visited...it was fun. It should have said we did the floating thing with the long noodles and visited.LOL What happened is we were just floating around with some soft foam that looks like noodles, they keep you up above water and it is very relaxing. you wrap them around you from the back to the front up under your arms and float around. LOL Now if you have never seen one I will get a picture of one and send it to you...we love them. I couldn't figure out what you were talking about when you said the floot and noodle thing....lol too funny, doesn't take much to make a grandma laugh. We are easily entertained.

Thanks Kay!! Adding tricky and tiny we now have something even I cant say with my own teeth!!!
I took my laptop into the shop to try the power lead...it didnt work:mad:
So I have spent all evening trying to keep enough power in it to write some, ok, lets be honest here, HEAPS of stuff to cd! All my layouts, kits, etc etc etc etc that are on the laptop have to come off as it has to go away, my poor little 'Petal' is going to be gone for at least 10 working days from Saturday when I drop it off. Luckily I remembered I had taken out the extended warranty when I bought it, odd as that is something I have never ever done before, but *gosh* am I glad to have it now!!
Carma thanks for clearing up the Floot thing, I know what you mean now!! Great fun and very relaxing! I was picturing some sort of Asian meal!!! And I dont think we had better ask what Kay was thinking!! lol!!
Of to bed for me now, its far too late, I was trying to get everything written to cd while my laptop was having a 'behaving' spell!

Hey girls... Kay 3-D ultra sounds are so cool... Isn't it just amazing how much detail can be seen. We had our babies in the wrong century didn't we.... I remember being so excited with Madison, as I was going to have an ultra sound and know ahead of time if she was a girl or boy... She had her little knees pressed tight and would not co-operate for anything... I was so disappointed and had to wait till she was born to find out just like with the other 4... Now days you can just pay to have your own ultra sound.. Complete with a video and cool music. 2 of my daughters had Dr. that did an ultra sound every visit... Yes the days of being thrilled by the sound of the babies heart beat are shadowed by much cooler things...Loved your Follow up and your addition to Emily's tongue twister... You do find and create the best my lovely SK...
Oh Donut I feel for you girl.... 10 days without your lappie.. Maybe you could bribe them with some TimTam's to get it done sooner...Isn't it funny how much a part of our lives those flat metal boxes become. Well computers of any kind really and internet.. I remember I use to feel that way about the microwave oven... I don't depend on it nearly as much anymore but there was a time I would have jumped through tiny hoops for it and was in misery if it was on the fritz....I'll be keeping fingers crossed for a speedier repair for you.
Hey how did you all get Rene's cool doodles? I love them, I want them.. Pam your LO of Emily with those doodles was "FAROUT MAN".. LOL... no really it was terrific... Ok you crazy floating noodle comics I am out of here for now... Peace Out Ya'll!

Hi ladies, stumbled on to this thread and I nearly pissed myself laughing. A good tonic for case of the blues (missing my kids 2 boys aged 23, 24 who live across the ditch in aussie) Kay love the poems, I'm a grammy in training , well I think? Welcome Wendy, It is hard at first when your kids leave the nest. Hope they are close enough to visit. One great thing about our lives now is the internet so we can keep in such close touch with each other. You will be happy to know that we do traning sessions for those ladies who are not yet grandmas yet. Just keep tuned in and we will give you some hints. We also try to solve one anothers problems, such as how to get rid of wrinkles. We have not solved all the problems but we are enduring them much better now that we have found one another. Kay is even crossing over to Donuts daughter Emily helping with home work. No job is too small or too large that we grandmas cannot help out by giving solutions or suggestions. We are active, we have the fastest typing fingers on the web. Hop right in and enjoy some light heartedness. Beautiful day here in the area I live in Sunny and expect to get to about mid 90s. Would be another nice day to take a float in the pool.

I will box you up some sunshine and send it down...we don't mean to be selfish with it. Yes, it is amazing what we try to do to keep from getting wrinkles, I figure I earned them all and should be proud of them. I have a daughter that is an internist and she does so much botox on people, it is unbelievable. and it isn't cheap, and when they have it done the areas are numb...I sure don't want to be numb. LOL...oh well they look great. I have got 3 LOs under my belt today...has been nice and productive.

Hello all you hippy grannies. I was sooo pleased to find this thread. DSP is such a large site and I am still exploring it. I have so far only read up to page eight and hubby thinks I have gone mad, sometimes laughing out loud, and some times reaching for the tissue box. I have been a granny for one year now and it is the best time, even if done long distance. My little grandson lives 2 hours away by plane or 2 days hard driving or 6 weeks walking. (6 months crawling) I think it is the smells that I miss the most. You cannot beat baby smell.
I am going to get a cuppa and a donut (for the wrinkles) and finish reading the other 8 or so pages. Have you covered chin hairs yet, I am sure the answer will be here somewhere?
Carma
06-17-2006, 12:23 AM
Chin hairs oh my gosh, No that is not a subject that we have got to. The other day when I got my hair cut though the beautician came at me with her clippers and I said stop...she said well you have a wild hair above your eyebrow. Goodness I had never seen it and let her clip that off. But I thought she was after what I have left of my eyebrows...don't let anyone cut your eyebrows off.

I am waiting for it to get dark.
After dark hubby and I go out to play!! Now that we are empty nesters we can skinny dip in the spa with a scotch and coke (pink gin)........

I LOVE your avatar and your naughty night time games ..sure beats getting up to feed the baby !! (LOVE being a Gran !!) I tried skinny dipping in our pool once but was terrified of being spotted and turned the lights all off only to be molested by the creepy crawly in the dark (that's what we call those hose pool cleaners ..not the nice bronzed ones like in Desperate Housewives ..otherwise I would be telling a different story .) I nearly had a heart attack and leapt out ..VERY inelegant..so quickly.. never to try THAT again !! I read something about "when I was young I used to skinny dip ..now I just chunky-dunk !" May be a pink gin would have helped ?? Maybe two and I might have goosed it back !!! I was going to ask Carma about her flooting noodles again but somehow this does'nt seem the time ...........??Anyway..looking forward to having you onboard !(and I LOVE it that your'e still vain ..LOLOL!!!!)You seem to be very busy Carma ..but whats this nonsense scrubbing floors and the like ??You're setting a terrible example here so next time you feel the urge to do something silly like housework ..take an Advil and wait for the feeling to pass !! Poor poor Donut ...have you come out in spots yet ?? We all feel your pain and hope that poor Petal is soon home and back with her doting Mum !! Even Dr Em can't help with this one my friend ..so just be brave and know that wer'e all sending sincere cyber wishes to see you thru' these awful days !!! And Kim ...your red thread seems to be straing a wee bit my friend ! Take big breaths and eat lots of chocolate (maybe have a skinnydip !!!LOL..like there's any privacy in your household !!) Hope you're having a good break Jill and taking millions of pics ..how's Melbourne ..is'nt it time for the Races ?? Well ..as you can see ..I have no news .!! Just touching base and wishing you all a happy weekend !! Please take heed of the following warning ..it is really quite serious and could EASILY happen to you !!! Big hugs ..Kay

Warning:
This is a heads-up to those friends who haven't experienced it yet, and an explanation to those friends and family who have.
My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years ago. It was just that quick. I went to sleep in my body and woke up with someone else's thighs. The new ones had the texture of cooked oatmeal. Who would have done such a cruel thing to legs that had been mine for years? Whose thighs were these and what happened to mine? I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs. Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my life in jeans and Sheer Energy pantyhose.
Then, just when my guard was down, the thieves struck again. My butt was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they took pains to match my new rear end (although badly attached at least three inches lower than my original) to the thighs they stuck me with earlier. Now, my rear complimented my legs, lump for lump. Frantic, I prayed that long skirts would stay in fashion.
It was two years ago when I realized my arms had been switched. One morning I was fixing my hair and I watched horrified but fascinated as the flesh of my upper arms swung to and fro with the motion of the hairbrush. This was really getting scary. My body was being replaced one section at a time. How clever and fiendish.
Age? Age had nothing to do with it. Age is supposed to creep up, unnoticed, something like maturity. NO, I was being attacked repeatedly and without warning. In despair, I gave up my T-shirts. What could they do to me next? My poor neck disappeared more quickly than the Thanksgiving turkey it now resembled. That's why I decided to tell my story. I can't take on the medical profession by myself.
Women of the world, wake up and smell the coffee. That really isn't plastic that those surgeons are using. You KNOW where they are getting those replacement parts, don't you? The next time you suspect someone has had a face "lifted", look again. Was it lifted from you? I think I finally found my thighs - and I hope that Cindy Crawford paid a really good price for them!
This is not a hoax. This is happening to women in every town every night. WARN YOUR FRIENDS.
P.S. I must say that last year I thought someone had stolen my breasts. I was lying in bed and they were gone! As I jumped out of bed I was relieved to see that they had just been hiding in my armpits as I slept. Now I keep them hidden in my waistband.

The body snatchers have a wide net, cause there been here too! I posted a reward for the return of my body, but nobody took me serious...
Gotta say Kay is this a conspiracy? & why wasnt I warned before they snuck in!.
I'm trying to hide whats left of my assets now behide layers & more layers.
But I'm sure they are staking me out, I can feel them lurking....
Not so worried about the boobs, I just roll them up and tuck them in now , could do with a new set. (I was pretty agro when I found out these no warrantee on those puppies)
Thanks for the heads up, its comforting to know your not alone.. stay alert because I'm sure there coming back for more......

The body snatchers made it down here as well. I think they must have done their apprenticeship with Father Christmas as the fairy godmother would never do anything like that to us lovelly ladies. Kay I have really enjoyed all your lovelly poems and I could not help myself but I had to scraplift the poem about Missing Granny's to one of my pages. Sorry I have only been here for 5 minutes and taking liberities already. Are there rules about this sort of thing?

Took a 3 1/2 hour nap yesterday afternoon...wow I though I wouldn't sleep last night but suprise of suprises, I slept a full 8 hours. Now I am ready to attack like again. Today being Father's day I am going to fix a special dinner for my hubby, gotta finish wraping his gift from the puppies and I. Then the day is mine to do scraping etc. Hubby will probably sleep a good deal of the morning, that seems to be his pattern now. He had a rough day yesterday, gets upset stomach so much, I think it is the pain patches. We tried to go to lunch yesterday and he got sick in the middle of it. Not a fun thing to go through. But good news, the sun is shining and the puppies are ready for a nice romp in the yard. So I better get to it. I am sure the body part snatchers have been here too, I just try to ignore it. Keep thinking of that song that says blue skies are going to come again, put on a pretty face. or maybe it was a happy face and spread sunshine all over the place, just put on a happy face. LOL Happy week end.

I am so glad I have my computer it keeps me occupied when I am home. Spend all my spare time here. Carma I sure hope your dear hubby gets through this rough patch and I am sure he will with your loving care. It is rainy and miserable here and has been for a week so am lookin forward to some sunshine. My daughter and gd Amy visited for the day yesterday and seeing their smiling faces always cheers me up. Holy crusty crevices you guys are hard on the leaking parts…Chin hairs, body part snatching, skinny dipping, and OMG Kay I will never be able to look at another floating noodle or auto pool sweep the same way again….LOL…. Wendy, Dagwood welcome to the RGC’s and I can see you both are going to be perfect additions…Be forewarned this little corner can almost be as addictive as digi scrapping!
Wendy your avatar is HOT….I see L'oreal influence…Love it! And if it‘s indicative of what‘s in your gallery I am going to have fun bopping around in it…As for what woman will plaster on their faces I remember a craze some years back when women were using urine soaked diapers of “newborns” as masks… Had to be a “newborn”…Pretty sad stuff.. I really think :p women hating “men“ :p think this stuff up as a way to entertain themselves.. I have also been thinking they are to blame for some of the more hideous fashion trends we sometimes see ..And maybe they are to blame for the body part snatch & swaps as well.. LOL…. Thanks Kay for clearing up that little mystery…
Dagwood your Avatar is so darn cute… And really captures what I think we all feel at times.. :( I am so sorry to hear your little grandbaby is not with in hugging (or smelling )distance :( … They are all so precious and grow so fast.. My one little granddaughter, Emma, is home for a few days. I haven’t seen her for just a few short months and already the change in her is amazing…We just celebrated her first birthday last night.. She was hilarious with her cake :D …. This one is going to be our comic grandchild for sure… Ok girls I need to get some scrapping done…. Thanks all for some great reading to start what I hope will be a great day.. Peace Out….

Ang... my heart breaks for you...super big desert sized hugs..... Carma DH's date is 29th of this month.. He goes Monday to have his turtle shell sized... Getting a little more nervous about it all.. Be reallly glad when it's all done and over..Sorry your's is feeling badly...Med side effects can be wicked... My hubbies has had major stomach problems from some of the stuff they have tried on him.. Better now but he has to take the little purple pill (Nexium) daily or he is miserable..
Carma
06-18-2006, 11:50 AM
Mine takes the Nexium also, but hasn't seemed to help with this...I am wondering if there is something else going on with him inside that stomach. I don't feel like he is recouping the way he should be. Got a bone density test on Friday, we will see what it has to say.
I will be thinking of you on the 29th.

Never want to go through that again ..poor Lauren ..my DD.. was beside herself ..they took ages to set up a drip because they could'nt find a vein . He'd had a tummy bug but did'nt seem that bad ..just goes to show how quickly they can dehydrate ! He's much better this morning ..she spent the night with him in hospital but she said he's in an adult bed ..this tiny thing with a little nighty on that ties at the back and his enormous eyes ..ahh..my heart .....Now I'm leaking all over my keyboard again !! Oh Kay you poor thing!! and your daughter too, I hope little Jarred is soon recovered, that must have been so frightening for everyone. Sending BIG hugs....and more BIG hugs. Good luck with all your extras this week too, Smocking?!! You have hidden talents!!
My poor laptop is off to be repaired, and I have comandeered (SP check Jill please!!) the kids computer...downloaded a trial of PSCS2 to keep my addiction fed, but I am already getting "the talk" from Alex about having used up too much disc space!!!!
Carma I hope things go well on Friday, and Kim on the 29th I will be thinking of you both.
Welcome to the newbie members too, we are growing!!
Those body snatchers came here quite a while ago...infact I think they must have been getting slack when they reached here as they took the lot in one go!!!

Poor little Jarred. Poor Jared's mom and dad. Poor Gogo Kay.....Nasty bugs... Glad to hear the little guy is doing better this morning...Smocking... Not surprised Kay, impressed... No easy feat.. I hope you treat us with a photo of your finished gift once the new little princess can wear it.. What a wonderful bonus gogo you are going to be....Pam good to hear you are getting some satisfaction while your lappie is in for repairs.. Had no idea there was a trial version of PSCS2... I have been tempted lately to check into the bigger program... I am using PSE 4 right now....A trial version of PSCS2 sounds great..Carma hope hubbies feeling better... Ang I am going to have to peek at your gallery and see what you have been creating. Thank you so much for the SW info... I have the tutorial and now just need to find the photo and time to try it out...Hope all is well with all the rest of you RGCers out there.....Peace Out :p :p :p

Hello all...oh so sorry to hear about Jared, I hope he is back home by now...things happen fast to little ones, it is so hard to sit by and watch and wonder what is going on. Makes you so helpless. Our prayers are with you.
Congrats Donut for getting the computer from the kids...and watch it or you will not get to use it if you use up too much hard drive. LOL...too funny.
Dick is feeling a bit better today, it is so strange how he can be so down one day and then up the next..it has been 30 days for him since surgery. He is not a boob about health issues...he has usually bounced right back even after open heart surgery a few yesrs back. Very exercise consious (sp) etc. So here is hopeing that he is hitting another plateau.
Great news...I went to a day spa today and got a pedicure , manicure and Euoropean facial...oh my goodness...what a wonderful experience. The facial also included upper body and arms...it was so relaxing and I feel like a new woman. It was a gift from our 3 daughters for mother's day and I am just go the point of feeling like I could leave and get it done. I will be going again. They used warm stones with the oils and it was heavenly. You all need to try it...it will make it much better to accept the body snatches that have been going on.
Smocking....well good for you that is quite a feat..one of my daughters does that and loves it...she is hopeing for lots of grand daughteres to used the talent again. Katelyn is too old now for smocking. LOL...almost 16, she is her daughter.
I have done no scraping today...will get back to it tomorrow. Have a good week...see ya. Carma

Thanks for all the cyber hugs my good ol 'supportive rebbies !! You were the first ones I leaked on and you made me feel so much better !! Jarred is home and much much better ..just gave everyone such a huge scare ..convulsions are so terrifying! His "modelling" career was launched yesterday when he appeared in Littlewoods on-line shopping catalogue strutting his stuff in Tommy Hilfiger (?) jeans you would have to take out a bank loan to be able to afford !! Too too cute ..will have to scrap our little celebrity ..might be rich and famous one day !! Have lovely days eveyone ..this was just to touch base and thank-you for the hugs !!!

Hi everyone, i have just this minute arrived back home after a week away and had to rush here to see what everyone is doing and found that there are two or three pages of posts to catch up on and some lovely new people to talk to. Haven't got time to read everything right now - suitcases to unpack, family to contact etc etc but will get to it tomorrow. Something has happened in your family Kay but thankfully I see everything is looking up now, belated hugs and best wishes from me. Will talk more tomorrow :)

Oh that is good news Kay... Hmm have to check out those little Tommy's... How too fun... Glad to have you back Evergreen... Hope your trip was a good one.. Can't wait to see what sort of LO you'll do with all the photos I am sure you took. Carma you really did get pampered... I just love those warm stones and oil massages.... Sure sounds good right now... We've had a really hard week here.... We had to have our 7 year old Basset Hound put down.... She woke up a week ago and couldn't walk.. We tried steroids for a week but things just got worse... Very hard to see her so totally helpless... Our vet believes she had some kind of spinal cancer... Very sad part of being a pet owner.... We have a little Doxie who is just over a year old, she is so depressed without her buddy which makes it all even sadder... Think we are going to have to go in search of a new playmate for her soon.. She tried to play with the cat yesterday... Our cat was just beside himself with indiginity... Made us all laugh and cry.... Ok now that I have leaked all over my keyboard I shall wish you all a great one... Peace Out:cool:

Awww Kim !!!!!!! I'm so so sorry my poor old SK ..what a week for leaky Grandmas !!! Thats the price we pay for loving all these little furry creatures that just love us back so unconditionally is'nt it ?? You did make me laugh picturing your cat though ..could just imagine it spluttering with indignity !! Have really missed not being here this week and keep having a quick peek ..can't help it ..must be seriously addicted !! Little smocked dress ended up being a real labour of love ..just about finished and looking very sweet ..all pink with little white daisies ..I only pricked my finger twice and just got a wee bit of blood on it !! Wow Carma ..that massage sounds just up my alley ..what a spoilt thing you are ..think it was very well deserved my friend !!Okay ..off to put the last sleeve in ..will catch up after the week end !! Cheer up Kim..eat lots of chocolate and give some to Doxie too !!...extra extra desert size hugs on the way !!!

Kim, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. That is the worst part of being a pet owner. We have a little guy that is almost totaly blind, and he seems to be laying around a lot now too. He is such a darling still but know the time will come, he also has a collapsing trachea. He is on meds and it helps but only time will tell. Sounds like the dress is coming along swell Kay so glad to hear what it is looking like. Just a week from today Kim and your hubby will have his surgery, we are sure keeping him in our thoughts. hope all is well with the rest of you.

Carma keeping fingers crossed that this week will see a great improvement. That spa sounds devine, will definately have to give that a go after the wk I hard yakka I've had, but no complaints as these are trivial compared to what the other RGC have had to endure this wk.
Pam so happy you got a shot of puter to tied you over the hump. Not long to go now and all will be well with the world.
thank god its friday, looking forward to a wkend just scrapping to cold to venture far. have a wonderful week all.

Hope you had a great trip Evergreen!!!
I think I will need to vist your spa Carma after this weekend!!! As I type I have ten 11 and 12 yr old boys "sleeping" in the lounge...for "sleeping" read playing PS2, watching movies, eating lollies, shouting to each other (WHY cant 12 yr old boys talk??!!!) Yes, its Alexs birthday sleepover, a weekend I put myself through every year, only to say never again as they leave...till the next year that is!!! lol!!! Its all good fun really!!
This lot leave at 11am tomorrow then I have 6 hours to clear up and get ready to do it all again for Beckys 16th Birthday 'Cocktail party' and sleepover tomorrow night!!! By Sunday afternoon, if I survive that far, I will be more than ready for that massage!!!
Maybe I need to take Kims advice and Peace Out!!!!! Have a good weekend everyone!!!

Oh my gosh, give me death or close to it to have two sleep overs in two nights. YIKES....what were you thinking? Of course I am joking but you really set your self up for no sleep at all. I never did have that many for a sleep over, 5 or 6 was the limit and I prefered 1 to 3 guests...The more you get the louder the roar....LOL. You are a great mom to do that for the kids.
I wish you all a morning at the spa, it was a wonderful thing for my daughters to give to me for Mother's Day. So what is everyone scrapping? What challanges are you all in? I have had a day or two of blahs, no brain cells could get me going in the right direction for scraping up much. Need to try again today.

  OMG Pam are you looney   2 sleepovers in one weekend!!!! 2 sleepovers in a century is more than enough for me :D. You are one super Mom and I think both birthday babes should be giving Mom a super trip to a super spa next weekend! Madison has been asking for a multi girl sleepover.. Haven't convinced myself to make the sleep deprived scarifice yet... But I am guessing I will have to sooner or later.. One of those necessary childhood experiences.....My hat is totally off to you..
Thank you all so very much for all your kind words...I tried to pull out photos this morning of our beloved Lucy but could not look at them without misting up... Maybe a bit later.... Last night we went in search of a new pal for our little Daisy and some comfort for Madison.... We now have a cute little Boston Terrier named Tilly and puppy piddles to clean up :D ...Oh well life is pretty much an assortment of piddles to clean up, whats a few more....
Thanks Carma for keeping us in your thoughts... Hubby went and gave his own blood for surgery Monday then came down with a flu bug (gift from DGK :D ) so now he can't use his.. Kind of scary but what can you do.. Our daughter has the same blood type and was going to donate but they said there is not enough time now... I don't really get that but again what can you do....Just hope this is the only bump we come across... Kay I can't wait to see this smoking smock... LOL...It just sounds devine.... I think we will all hunt you down if you dont' take a photo for us to see...Take care all you Lovely RGC's .. You are all one terrific bunch of gals.... Peace Out

Tina that is a great set for grandma and grandpa's, looking forward to seeing the Earth set as well.
Kim, I am so sorry about the blood situation, but if this is any comfort to you, they didn't have to transfues my husband. They said that less than a cup of blood is normal loss for this operations... and it wasn't needed for him. We will continue to keep him inour thoughts, at least they didn't cancell the surgical date. That would have been a bummer.
Yes, Kay we want to see this smoking smocked dress... I am sure it is just beautiful.
Wen, how did you get your name Wen2Tap...do you tap dance? My daughter does and loves it.
Donut what is going on with your laptop? Hope they can save it for you.
Hello to all and bye...can you believe that Tina would horn in and not give us some gossip or something? They horned out just as quick as she came in. She must have some secrets to share. Tee Hee.

"Tina - woman of mystery!!" lol!!
That word art looks great, I have to go look closer in a minute!
Kim my thoughts are with you for your hubbies up coming op, I am sorry about the blood, hope it goes as Carma says her hubbies did and none is needed. Huggies!
Yes Kim I think maybe I am loony! This is a yearly event in our house, the Birthday weekend, both sleepovers same weekend, gets it over and done with in one exhausting shot!!
Well I survived the night...count down has got to 1 hour and 10 minutes now till all the boys have gone!!! I dont think much sleeping went on last night but they were reasonably quiet, as quiet as 10 boys can be anyway!
I dont know how it got to 10, was meant to be limit of 6 to stayover but somehow the invitations got sent out all the same with the sleepover on them! lol!! At least I can now reserve a day for "me" as a reward without feeling guilty!!! Lol!!
Kay where are these pics of the smokey smocked dress?? And little Jarreds claim to fame layout??!! I hope he is fully better now.
Off to see what the boys are up to....one hour to go!

Hi girls, hope you are all feeling well this morning. I have been catching up on the posts I missed while Iwas away and I have been leaking from both ends with laughter over the body snatches and tucking boobs under arms and protecting the remaining assets under layers, then I have been weeping over your sad and anxious moments as well so everything is a bit wet and uncomfortable right now! I am so sorry about your little dog Kim, it is such a hard thing I know. I am sending you hugs for your loss and also well wishes for your hubby's surgery. Hugs to you also Ang, special days are hard when your loved one is no longer with you, but I believe they are there in spirit in everything you do. Hope your hubby is improving Carma, that spa sounds like just the ticket to help you over your stressful times. Donut, you are one super apprentice granny, dealing with 10 boys of that age all shouting (aka talking) then backing up for another sleepover the next night. Good thing you are a tad younger than the rest of us! And you are doing this in the midst of lack of laptop depression??? You are an inspiration! Kay, you are a terrific scrapper, a magnificent photographer, a fantabulous commentor, a hilarious forum poster, and now you tell us you can SEW??? Not only sew but SMOCK??? What other talents are you going to trot out to show us!! I expect to see the smoking smock make an appearance in your gallery soon! hope little Jarred is OK now. How hard for you so far away at times like that!
Tina, horn in all you like specially with stuff like that set. Lovely. Tell us all about yourself next time, we can handle two apprentice grannies.
Now a great big welcome to wen and dagwood. Lovely to have you join us and I will be waiting for a sample of that wrinkle stuff when your hubby bring it home wen, but CHIN HAIRS?? Dont tell me there is more bad news??? I thought I had run the gauntlet of aging but there is more to come???? How depressing:D. Dagwood, I have just returned from Melbourne, where we have a son and dil and three gorgeous grandsons. The weather was lovely (I was a bit anxious I must say) Chilly, but no rain to speak of and the days were great for spending outside with our little fellows. For the weekend, we went down to the Mornington Peninsula where they have a small farm and had lots of fun with the kids collecting wood, playing on the tractor andin the cattle yards. wonderful! but I was pleased to get home to see the local grandkids too. Hope to visit all of your galleries this weekend. Today we are going to visit my Dad who is celebrating his 91st birthday. he is in good health - no arthritis, still reads without glasses, still drives, still runs the tractor and slasher around the house paddock when the grass gets too long, maintains a vege garden, takes an interest in the sporting events on TV, his memory is better than mine, and the only problem he has is that he is getting deafer. We are very lucky to have him still.

Goodmorning all. I am a bit grumpy this morning as Donuts 10 !!!! boys could be heard clear across the ocean and kept me from my beauty sleep. I am hoping the girls cocktail party has more restrain so us oldies can sleep. I kept an eye out for evergreen in Melbourne with grandkiddies in tow but there were lots of grannies minding kids over the holis, and not one of them looked like they were having sb withdrawals. Happy birthday to your father. 91 is a great age. My thoughts and cyber hugs to all who needs some (and even if you don't). Got to go and charge the batteries in the camera, grandson down from QLD for a week. Yippee

Oh how much fun, grandson down for a visit dagwood, get lots of pictures...I have dogs and husband pictures right now...LOL...the grandkids are pictured out and haven't sent me any in a couple of weeks. I do have graduation pictures though that I can scrap and dance recital pics.
Evergreen, you had far too much fun with the grandkids, and congratulations to your DD on his BD. My father celebrates his 91s this next month but he is almost blind and very hard of hearing..other than that, he bakes bread at least 2 times a week and gives it away to others in his apartment building. My mom is still quilting at the age of 82...so they keep busy too. They are hard workers and have a hard time sitting still. I hope that I can be in better health than they are when I am their ages. Mom has parkinson's and it is getting worse. Hard to see them going down hill. Donut I see you are at a countdown one hour to go for the boys...well that was a while ago...you are probably getting ready for the girls to show up anytime now...so how do you have a cocktail party for girls their ages? I am visualizing....tee hee I have got to get to a scrapbooking project...it got up to 110 today...still 108 it is hotter than you know what....burns my hands to open the door with the knob. YIKES.

Finally found a moment to pop in...
   10 boys   ... Ok I will from this day forward refer to you as Saint Donut.... What a Mom you are girl... Please tell me is there a drop of food left in the house after 10 boys spend the night? How did the girls handle having their space invaded by all those boys... I am also as curious as Carma about the teen cocktail party.. Sounds like a pretty fun event... Have any of you seen "Sweet Sixteen"? It this series about all these ridiculously pampered girls and boys on their 16th birthdays... These kids get party's that are so over the top it's nauseating to watch and these kids are so ungrateful you'd like to smackem up side the head... My Maddy loves to watch.. I Never miss the opportunity to point out what perfect examples of how "not" to behave they all are :p ...
Evergreen I am so glad your trip was an enjoyable one... I am going to try to pop into all your galleries today... Hope I see at least one LO of your trip to the farm.. You made it sound so cool.... :D 91:D .. God Bless him.... That is just so wonderful... And I am so jealous that he can still read with no glasses..LOL... It's so frustrating to have to put them on and take them off 100's of times a day...And here's hoping we all live to be 91 with just a little hearing loss...Awesome..... A big Happy Birthday from the California high deserts....
Kay.. Jill is right.. You are one multi talented wonder... I do believe I remember you saying way back in the our SS (Scrapping Slugs) days, you make your own fabric paints as well... I am still really curious as to how one makes their own paint and what is done with it... Maybe sometime you can share your story on it all...
Thanks all who have dropped into my gallery.. It's always a thrill when I see I have comments from my RGC buddies... Kay, yes I took the K& D photo myself with a remote... I read this article about how this one woman got tired of begging and pleading with all her family to sit for photos while she played around learning how to use all her cameras functions so she bought a remote and used herself (saves running back for the darn timer)... Sounded like a pretty good idea to me..I'm finding it's also a pretty good thing to have when you are trying to get the kiddies to look at you making goofy smile inducing faces and still snap that photo.... The Baby Daisy LO technique is a pretty easy straight forward one.. I will write it out and post it soon... Think you can do some pretty cool LO with it and a bit of creative imagination, which you all have in triples...
Hmmm this is getting lengthy.... More later.. Desert hugs to you all... Thanks Carma for the blood info... Made both hubby and I breath a tiny sigh of relief..
You all are RGC angels.... Ok Ok so some of you have a bit of devish mischief mixed in.. Thank goodness for that!:D :D :D

Well, yesterday got up to 112 degrees here and it was a balmy 118 in Las Vegas that is only a hour and a half away, YIKES. It was nice to stay in...we took our walk at 9:30 and it was still 101. People were rushing to get their walks in so they could get back in for some cool air conditioning. I should go down to the pool more, but hate to leave my DH when he is up. He is now walking around one full block and almost a half. He follows me at his speed when I go to the mail box and I take the dog so she can run her pace. then I come back up and meet him and we turn around and I finish the block with him around to our house. He has to stop to rest almost every 30 feet. It isn't getting easier he is just more determined. I spoke to a friend that her cousin went through this and she was like this they said for almost 6 months. Most get over it faster. Some right after surgery...depends on how much they have to do. So we will not give up.
Kim, loved all the news you shared with us, I am interested in this remote you talk about. We go all these places on vacations and I am usually the one doing all the photography...I would love to set up a remote...In fact some times I think a granny cam on my computer would be good. What kind of a camera do you use?
Kay, makes fabric paint? Wow, tell us more about this Kay, your hiding things from us. Kim, Lazy Daisy tecnique sounds interesting too please do tell. Dagwood hope you got caught up on your rest. Those boys were louder than I expected to effect you that far off. Hmmm Donut has probably done her self in, no new posts from her. She is probably passed out from all of the week end activities. What a woman she has turned into Saint Donut...good name I bet it will stick. I hope she got lots of good pictures.
Kay hope you got that smoking dress finished...can't wait to see that. I love seeing your posts all around the place, you are such a busy woman. You amaze me.
Yesterday I spent most of the day doing two los for a friends BD. I found at out Target store some 8x8 frames and they were on sale for $3.99 each. They are beautiful plain frames, came in black, a rich brown and white. I got brown ones and black ones. The white ones were all scratched and marked up. Anyway, there are so nice, you can't see the line where they are joined at the corners hardly at all. Finished really good. I bought 10 of them as I can never find 8x8 frames. They had some other sizes...so for those of you that have Target stores...run, do not walk to them and look in the home decor area. They had lots of them. Any one else finding frames of this size any place? Let us know. Tina Chambers told me that she finds 10x10 at WalMart, but I have not been able to find them here. Ok enough from me...I am off to get a shower. Have a nice day.

ROFL.. My SIL sent me this little piece.. Almost pee'd me pants again reading it.. Hope you all find it as hilarious as I did..
It's getting to be that time again, so I thought I would spread some cheer!
In days gone by, the bathing suit for the over 40 crowd was boned, trussed and reinforced, not so much sewn, as engineered to fit. They were built to hold back in the right places and give some uplift - and they did a good job. Today's stretch fabrics are designed for the prepubescent girl with a figure carved from a potato chip.
The mature woman has a choice -- -she can either go up front to the maternity department and try on a floral suit with a skirt, coming away looking like a hippopotamus who escaped from Disney's Fantasia -- or she can wander around every run of the mill department store trying to make a sensible choice from assorted designer's florescent rubber bands being sold as bathing suits.
What choice did I have? I wandered around, and in desperation, picked out one and entered the fitting room (which is known to most of us "older girls" as a chamber of horrors).
The first thing I noticed was the extraordinary tensile strength of the stretch material. The Lycra in that bathing costume must have been developed by NASA to launch small rockets from a slingshot. I fought my way into it, but as I "twanged" the shoulder strap in place, I gasped in horror --- my boobs had disappeared!
Eventually, I found one boob cowering under my left armpit. It took a while to find the other. At last I located it flattened beside my seventh rib.
The problem is that modern bathing suits have no bra cups. The mature woman is meant to wear her boobs spread across her chest like a speed bump.
I realigned my speed bump and lurched toward the mirror to take a full view assessment. The bathing suit fit all right, --- but unfortunately, it only fit those bits of me willing to stay inside it. The rest of me rebelliously oozed out from top, bottom, and sides. I looked like a lump of play dough wearing undersized cling wrap.
As I tried to work out where all those extra bits had come from, the prepubescent sales girl popped her head through the curtain, "Oh, there you are!", she said, "that is a lovely suit." I curtly asked what other suits she had to show me.
I tried on a cream-crinkled one that made me look like a lump of masking tape.
I tried on a floral two-piece which gave the appearance of an oversized napkin in a serving ring. I struggled into a 2-piece leopard skin that covered my stomach with ragged frills and I looked like Tarzan's Jane, pregnant with triplets and having a rough day.
I tried on a black number with a midriff and looked like a jellyfish in mourning. I tried on a bright pink one-piece with such a high cut leg I thought I would have to wax my eyebrows to wear it.
Finally, I found a suit that fit . . . ... a two-piece affair with a shorts style bottom and a loose blouse-type top. It was cheap, comfortable, and bulge-friendly, so I bought it. I figured at least I had something I could wear and that the hours of search had been productive.
Life is not fair -- when I got home, I found a label, which read -- "Material might become transparent in water."
So, if you happen to be on the beach or near any other body of water this year and I happen to be there too ... I'll be the person in cut off jeans and a t-shirt

OMG Kim !!!!! This is FAR too close to home !! I was spluttering so much I had to wipe red wine off my keyboard ..!! That part about oozing out the top and bottom had me SHRIEKING ...I KNOW that feeling ..have you ever tried to get into a full body wet-suit that is too small ?? Then the only place to ooze to is your ankles and your neck ..I leave the rest to your imagination ..........!!!
So great to see everyone back and in such top form ..will catch up tomorrow and relate to you the saga of the bleeding freaking smoking smocking frock !! LOL ..no saga really ..just sounded good !! And Saintly Donut ..I hope you are NOT reading this but are unconscious for the next 12 hours !! (If it were me I would need 12 weeks to catch up on my sleep !!) Cyber hugs and PEACE until 2morrow !!!!!!!!!

I am laughing so hard here my ribs ache!!
That is so funny Kim!! Brilliant! I can so relate to all of it, hence my lack of new togs last summer! Thank goodness for Boardies thats all I can say - cover up a multitude of sins below the waist at any rate, then of course with the dangers of the sun these days a rash shirt is a must...I go in the sea looking fully clothed these days! lol!!!
I can also relate to the wetsuit struggles Kay! I discovered that one with a hired wet suit a size too small which I had to try to squeeze myself into infront of the rest of the class group....me and Becky being the only women there...it was not a pretty sight!!! Those days are over for me though as I 'Woosed out" as Becky tells me, after having a bit of a panic attack 14 feet down when we had to do mask clearing and I started choking..!!! Becky carried on for the rest of the course and now has her PADI dive card, so I am really proud of her!
I survived the weekend, somewhat helped by a couple of glasses of wine last night!
Beckys cocktail party was of the non alcoholic type, I did one bowl of what we call the Tupperware Cocktail which is alcoholic, and everyone got one glass of that, and then I had printed out lists of different non alcoholic cocktails and had all the ingredients there so that they could experiment and make their own or follow the recipes. They were all great, no trouble at all and had fun, Sorry about the noise Dagwood, I think that was Beckys lot on Sing Star!!!!
Alex and Emily wanted to try the cocktail so I gave them a tiny glass each, then I got involved with the older ones, and didnt notice Alex had helped himself to more, later on I realised he wasn't around, went upstairs and there he was putting himself to bed saying he was really tired....!!!! Whooops!!!
Those frames sound great Carma,I wish we had Target here,I keep hearing of all these wonderful things people have got there! I am always on the search for 8x8 frames, they seem very hard to find!
Well I have prattled on and on here, so I will be off, my dishwasher has given up, wont drain and flooded the kitchen this morning (I think it is throwing a wobbly about all the extra work over the weekend!!) I had to hand wash all the dishes so better go dry and put away now.
Hugs to all! Peace out!!!

Oh dear, I am leaking again after reading Kims hilarious contribution. This is such a WET thread!!!!! that was So funny! On our Easter weekend at the beach with our granddaughters, I went boogie boarding in the surf clothed in my threequarter pants and T-shirt (plus the usual underwear). My excuse was that I didn't want too much sun exposure! I am imagining your son, Saint donut, helping himself to the alcoholic cocktail then staggering upstairs to put himself to bed! Carma, you are so lucky to have both parents still, my hubby and i consider ourselves lucky to have just one left out of the four. Kay and Kim -"Scrapping Slugs"???? Is there a story there somewhere? what are Scrapping slugs???? And Kay-You make your OWN fabric paint??????????What else can you do????????????Dagwood, I didn't see you in Melbourne either:D enjoy the grandchild visit. No new layouts from our week away from me yet, my limited talent seeems to have left me, a momentary blimp I hope. Still trying to get to everyone's galleries, maybe today!

Oh you guys opps gals are so entertaining. I had to get up and go potty. Now am settled down and ready for the next go round. Yes, I loved that Scrapping Slugs... can't imagine either of them being in that catagory.
So Saint Donut is not raising a saint Alex ehh...sneaking some of the wrong beverage of choice. LOL... Thank heaven he did it at home and not out some place. He at least hit his own bed.
Had a great time going through a couple of you gals galleries today, thanks for the inspiration. I love the little book you are making Kay of things the cousins say the new little baby needs to know... soo cute. Kim loved your gallery too. You are really someting at taking pictures as well are you Kay. Oh and to take that picture with your remote...be sure to fill us all in on that project. Sounds so great. Saint Donut I saw a lay out of yours the other day with Emily it was fantastic. You are not letting any grass grow under your feet. I did two LOs yesterday but haven't put them up yet. Need to do that. Off to watch a movie sortly with my hubby. peace be with you all...

Hey all the Rebbies !! I've just spent such an entertaining half hour catching up on everyone's news !! Wen...what is "hard yakka " ?? Sounds like something I need to repeat often but you'd better explain first !! Lucky it was a good weekend for scrapping for you because you have some awesome additions in your gallery !! Well done ! Carma ..what did you say about Tina being horny ?? Did I miss something ?? LOL ! Ahhh..the Donut with the shiny halo ..brownie points for a thousand years are bestowed upon you oh saintly one !! Sleepovers make me shudder just thinking about them and I SWEAR I heard those boys too !!! I see you did escape to the 'puter every now and again for some sanity and eventually resorted to alcohol to get one of them to sleep (good tactic !!) Now we need LOs and LOTS of them ..is Petal home ?? I thought she was back ages ago you were doing so well on the other one ..nothing gets our Donut down ..what a trooper !!! Must be all the grandma's good training !! Great to have you back Jill ..hope you're all dry and comfortable now ..I think you are our leakiest member by far and we have to remember to be gentle with you !!Sounds like you had a wonderful time at the farm catching up with all the GKs ..lucky you !! Huge belated birthday wishes to your Dad..what a blessing to you and all the great grand kids to still have him in your lives ..like I keep saying ..must be that fresh country air !!! Wow !! Thanks so much for all the kudos showered on me ..had me blushing all the way across the ocean !! Actually ..you can flick me (gently please !!) off that pedestal now ..it was LOVELY while it lasted !!..I'm really just a klutzy, clumsy, all thumbs,left-handed awkward sort of a gal who is just pretty determined to get it right and never says die !! So everything I do seems to take FOREVER as I always seem to take the LONGEST route ..then I don't like it ..so I do it over..and over..and over..until I'm happy !! I'm also pretty much an all or nothing type..so if I'm NOT happy with something I never will be (after I've done it over and over and over)then it gets turfed and I sulk !!! The Scrappy Slugs story with Kim and I goes way back to when we bonded instantly on discovering our mutual fear and phobia of Power Scrappers !! We ganged up against them immeadiately and I thought she was the only one in the scrapping world who understood what it was like to take like a WEEK to do a LO !!! She did move out of the slug status a lot more rapidly than me and I often revert there leaving sad little slimy trails behind me !!! Love ya Kim !!! Told H I was deprived (again !!) because you have a remote thingy for your camera AND a lappie ..he just raised an eyebrow and carried on watching the rugby ..how rude !!! Loved Carma's description of your Lazy Daisy technique !! Now it's uniquely yours ..teach us please !!!Congratulations on your newest little member of the family ..like you say ..what's another piddle ?? Can't wait to meet Tilly ..I'm sure she'll help fill the void ! I'm thinking of you so much this week ..just know how many good vibes are flowing your way ! Keep that red thread tightly bound !!!! Hey Daggy ..are you still grumpy ?? Don't blame you ..those boys were pretty loud !! Is your DGS still with you ?? Lucky you ..think you need your OWN batteries recharged by now ..never mind the cameras !! Sorry ..have rambled on a bit here ..like I said ..all or nothing !! ..but I've missed you all !!! Have great weeks all of you ..Huge DSHs to everyone ..PEACE !!!!!!!

Kay don't get me in trouble, Tina just horned into the thread and didn't visit left info on her word art for grannies and then horned out...now get that straight, those were her words not mine. LOL as for the other word you used, I know nothing about that. Ok that is cleared up I hope. Boy I was so tired last night, I slep until 8:30 this morning. Need to catch up on the emails and posts and then get some work done in the house so I can not feel guilty for playing on the computer. I get started on this thing and can't stop. I am still in my night gown. I have fallen into the computer and can't get out....You all have great days.

Carma thats one benefit from getting older we can claim that we cant see those damn cobwebs, or that dust on the coffee table.lol Kay, Hard Yakka is slang (aussie) for hard work....now we dont want to be doing to much of that! really cuts into scrap time ! its always nice to leave a trail even its only a slimey one. I thought that the ruckus down the road was a riot, but now realise just saint donuts brood, what a women! Hats off to any women brave enough for 2 sleepovers in 2 days....
Never tried to pour myself into those lyra bandaids, like Saint donut boardies all the way for me..sharing my wobbly bits with the beach public could be very scary for the kiddies.LOL It has to be bloody hot for me to put a toe in just like in Carmas part of the world.
Evergreen did u manage to catch in footy games while in Melb.. having withdrawals here in NZ, and just when my team (mighty EAGLES) are topping the ladder. Praying that one of these years will go to the MCG for a grand final. (sorry for those in other parts thats Aussie Rules, funny game, love it)
So happy you have a new addition kim. dont envy the piddles though.
Have heard of honed in but horned in sounds painful to me. One of those remote dohickies sounds great, will have to get DH on to that, he LOVES gadgets especially when it comes to puters & cameras. lucky me.
Well time for checking in for some inspiration in your galleries..
Loads of huggies for all, cant wait to see the smoking smock.
PS I got boardband today YIPPEEEEEE finally some speed to go with the laughs, layouts & general mayhem at DSP. Faster than speedo Gonzales now.

Ok, the house is clean again and I did some ironing this morning... have the hubby up getting a shower, we will eat a bowl of cereal and then I am off to take him to see the Drs. He has been in so much pain that I called yesterday afternoon and asked what to do for him. They said bring him in in the morning..as that was about 3:00 p.m. He didn't get up until about 6:00 p.m. last night, I did get him to eat a little and then he watched some TV and nodded off and on. He didn't feel up to walking last night so I walked the dogs at 11:30 it was still over 100 degrees. We need to do most things before noon here this time of the year. We will see Surgon and Cardiologist today so maybe we can figure out what is going on with Dick. He will have Xrays while there at the surgons office. Kim don't freak out or tell your hubby about this as it isn't normal for this type of pain to happen.. They are worried that since he has severe osteoperosis that some of the hard ware may have moved. I will keep you posted. Everyone else we know had relief much sooner in some cases with in days. They had told us that sometimes they get too close to a nerve and that can cause this also... Who knows..we will be gone most of the day between both DRs. On the bright side, I got to go to the DIPERS chat last night with Ann Maree and Vanillalatte, it was fantastick the things they taught us and gave us some links for some great products, like filters etc.. I had a problem getting the kit to load that they gave us to work on but finially got it and am going to work on it this afternoon after we get back, I am sure that Dick will sleep most of the afternoon. I peeked into QVC today too...bad idea, I started shoping..yikes everything looks good on that show. Bought 4 sets of silicone seals for bowls, pans etc..they are fantastic. Do any of you watch QVC? I doubt it you are all too busy with computers...LOL Well I took a bit of a break. It did me good. I also picked up a set of LOCK & LOCK containers. I have been wanting some of those. I loved looking in the galleries yesterday want to do some of that tonight again. Hugs going your way. You are right you Aussies do rule in that footy game. Go Aussies... we are learning here in the USA. Have a good day...

Oh Carma, I am so sorry your hubby is still suffering so, hopes and wishes go to you for rapid improvement from now on!! Good luck at the Drs, today, hopefully the problem can be resolved and soon!! DIPERS?? what is that, Did I miss something? Wen, it's funny that you mentioned the AFL, our son is a sports scientist and has worked closely with AFL and other sports, in fact he was employed by the Dockers for 3 years while living in Perth, so my husband has watched many AFL games (I usually mind the kids so our DIL can go too) but while we were in Melbourne this last time, the blokes went to watch Rugby League (their first love).
Now all of you RGCers, go check out this layout by our lovely Karate chopping Grandma, foxyroxa. I thought it was wonderful! http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=109428&cat=500&ppuser=49428
Good morning to the other RGCers, Hope your day is terrific!

HOme from the Drs. and feel better, He is still in a lot of pain, but they showed us the xrays of what they had done and explained it to us more. They have almost completely restructered his pelvis as so much was deteriated. He has rods, bolts, brackets, screws and a cage in there, they told us he is going to be in a great deal of pain for a couple more months. It will take up to a year to know exactly how he will do...he may never be pain free they said. They told us not to be discouraged when we hear reports of people who have got up and walked pain free a day or so after the surgeryas they have not had the same surgery he has undergone. This all has helped us understand what is going on. They have adjusted his meds so that should help too. Saw the cardiologist and everything is staying about the same, the heart is working with the pace maker and no changes in that. So we again got some meds changed to get his blood pressure up and that should help some of the things that were going on. I feel so much better knowing what has been done and what to expect and know that nothing is terrible wrong. We will just keep the faith. I am eathing ice cream right now, then going to work on a LO for Dipers...Dipers is Digital Imaging Professional2006 by Microsoft...a group of us are meeting to help one another who do not have Photo shop or Adobe. There are not a lot of tutorials for our program on the DPS site. But several of the designers use this same program that we have so everyone is trying to help each other out. It is the first chat and I gained alot from it. Hot here again today...106, ice cream sure does taste good. Have a nice night and keep on posting.

Oh Carma ..poor Dick really got a working over did'nt he ?? Now that it's all been explained it's awesome that he's walking at all yet ..He's doing so so well all things considered ! I hope that you can get the pain under control because I think that's what eventually just breaks the spirit..if it just goes on and on and on !! Poor old Carma ..you've had so much on your plate sweetpea and I really wish there was more we could do !!! Cyber hugs somehow don't seen enough but remember these are very special Desert sized ones !!! Went to check out what QVC was on Google ..they even have a little video !!..now feeling more deprived than ever ..had to wipe the drool off my keyboard which is only just drying out having been drowned in red wine after Kims side splitting poem !! Good call on Foxy's LO Jill ..been missing her ..hope she's out kicking butt somewhere !!Have a question for you Aussies ..why do you call rugby Footy ?? To us Footy would be football which is soccer ..and to the Americans I guess it would be American football (which is neither soccer nor rugby and also has nothing to do with kicking a ball so why FOOT ball ???...question for the Americans !!) All too too confusing for this old Gogo ..all I know is we are fiercly patriotic of our Sprinboks and just love it when we wallop the Kiwis and the Wallabies !!(has'nt been happening too much lately !!)
No wonder I've never heard of hard Yakka Wen ..I never do it !!!! LOL !!! Just popping in to say hi ..I'm having those Gateway Timeout problems again ..does anyone else ?? It's so annoying ..you can see thumbnails but when you press on them it just stays blank for ages then times out !!! So it's been hard to browse the galleries ...dying to get there !! Wer'e all thinking of you tomorrow Kim ...hang in there and be brave ..you'll DEFINITELY be feeling all our cyber wishes and I hope they make the day go faster ! I know Don probably thinks wer'e just a bunch of reprobate grannies (oh yes ..we are !!) but heres sending huge warm wishes for a speedy recovery from all of us at RGC !!! DSH sweet sweet SK . Moi

Footy to an Aussie is Australian Rules Football (aerial ping pong to the yanks)
which is totally different to Rugby the second footy game we play, & we call soccer , surprise soccer. Boy did the boys get ripped off at the world cup, but thats OK always next time.
Carma you must be feeling a little more relieved knowing what is happening.
Hope your DH is feeling better soon. Icecream sounds like a good idea or better still that red stuff kays been spilling, off to check out gimme more crop.....
cheers to all

Hi all, Daggie here, sorry I have not popped in for a while but I was busy with work and Grandchild down for week visit. I was sooo busy that I could not even make my bootscooting classes, which I have been doing for over 10 years and love very much.
Kay I was going to do some housework yesterday but I took your advise and took a little pink pill and had a lie down…..and the feeling went away just like that..Very good advice. Carma, I took your advise as well, and I went into Target here in Melbourne Aussie and asked the lovely girl behind the counter if they had any 8x8 frames for $3.99 as I have a friend in Utah and she could buy them in all colours. …. Well she looked at me very condescendingly (big word for me, had to get out dictionary) and said ‘No we do not and if we did, they would be a lot dearer than that Madam.’ Snooty nose piece she was!
Help please Ladies, I am going on a trip to Darwin, (about 5 thousand klms and 30 degrees warmer than here) to wrestle crocodiles, swim in water holes, sail on the Darwin harbour, Cheer in the fillies at the Darwin cup, and sit on top of Mount Ubirr to watch the sunset over the escarpment while sipping champagne. Now I know you are all probably thinking what’s the problem?
Well the problem is that Hubby works for Cadburys and I work for Nestle and we have a spare room where I keep my secret stash. Very good for wrinkles but the cottage cheese thighs is a killer. Kay I cried buckets over bathing suit piece as it was too close to home. I tried not looking in the mirror while trying on the bathers but the look on hubbies face said it all. Donuts idea of board shorts and rash vest is tempting but not elegant and evergreens idea of fully clothed nearly swayed me, so I have decided on a caftan, chin to ankle style, so my question to all wise and learnerd RGCers is…what colour?

Hey all you RGCers, so do you think you can survive TWO bootscootin' grannies???????????????????

06-28-2006, 07:22 AM
WHAT is BOOTSCOOTIN' ??????????? Explain explain !!!!! If I know our gorgeous Jill it has something to do with line-dancing or country music ...(what did you do to our stripper from the birthday bash ??? No-one ever saw him again and Donut promised she sent him back !!)..think I'll go and check on Google ..bet it has it's own website too !!! Daggie !!...had a vision !! You swathed in luxurious folds of silk with lots of bling in the same colours as your siggie naturally ..ever so gorgeous ! The vision however turned rather nasty when it began wrestling a crocodile and having the said caftan ending up wrapped around your ears ..so please be warned !! It's not the caftan darling ..it's whats UNDER it that counts !! Maybe leave those crocs alone ..they're for the big girls to play with !! You have my dream job !! All that chocolate and not enough time ....sigh ...!!
