this might be the round about way of doing things, but I do my text in vector format on the path and then hide the line layer in the layer pallet. Then I highligt the vector group and convert to raster. Now I have my curvy, wavy, round, etc text, but no line. If I delete the line layer before converting the path goes away and I have normal text. If there is a better way I haven't figured it out.

This is in PSP 8.1 and I can't remember how I did it in PSP7

I've read these 2 tutorials by Suz Shook, Text on a Path and Bezier Lines:

Text on a Path Tutorial (http://suzshook.topcities.com/tutorials/textoncurve/8index.htm)
Bezier Lines Tutorial (http://suzshook.topcities.com/tutorials/8bezierlines/ )

I wanted to create text on a curved line. This is how I did it:
- I made Bezier Lines. (They're hard to understand just by reading about them. You have to 'play' with them a while.)
- I created the text.
- With the Vector Selection Tool, press Shift and select both the line and the text.
- Choose Objects - Fit Text to Path.
- In the Layer Palette, turn off the visibility for the line.

Here's the LO I made. All of the text was made with Bezier Lines just as described above.
