View Full Version : CHALLENGE: Show Me Your Colors!
Elisabeth

I'll be honest, when making kits I have trouble staying away from colors and color schemes that are my personal favorites. Can you help me out here and tell me what YOU like? *waves prize as enticement*
To Play: Post a color scheme, 3 to 5 colors, in your gallery and link it back here. I'll choose one and make a kit based on that color scheme. If I choose your scheme, you get the kit free! Because of that, I'd like to know a little bit about what theme you want to use the scheme for. Post a photo with it if you like; that would help me avoid making a masculine kit for a wee lassie or a heritage kit for your last egg hunt.
I'll also have a store coupon prize, too - a random drawing of everyone who submits a scheme. Some of you are just terrific at color schemes; I've seen it! So what are you waiting for!?
Post your color scheme in the Color Scheme Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2379) and link it back here by May 15. I'll pick one then!
I think Bethy is coming along behind me to jazz this challenge up a bit, too. So check back to see what she has in mind!

LOL!
Ok, here I am to jazz it up!!
Z is looking for color schemes and pictures to inspire her!
Post a color schemes of 3-5 colors. For every color scheme you post, you'll get 1 point. Leave an explanation in your comments of why you like it. What appeals to you about this color scheme!
For every PAIR of a color scheme and picture that you post, you'll get 3 points! (note: the color scheme and photo must be linked here together so we know they go together.) Again, in your comments, explain why you like the color scheme, what about the picture and the color scheme together speak to you! What sort of kit you'd like to see with them.
Give her lots of inspiration!! Post by May 15th and link your color schemes and photos in this thread. (Post layouts in the Color Gallery: here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=2379)!)
I'll tally up all your points and for each point you've earned, you'll get one entry into a random drawing for a $3.99 page kit. The color scheme that Z chooses will get her new kit AND a $3.99 page kit!!
THEN, once Z gets the kit up and in the store, they'll be a PART 2 of this challenge!! Everyone who buys her new kit and posts a layout will be part of another prize chance. (What will it be?? I'll post back here once I talk to Z and figure that out!!)
SO, there's lots of chances to win AND even more exciting, your colors may be part of a DSP kit by Elizabeth!!

Thought I would try a color challenge for the first time. I used three colors I like the most.
Heres my idea: http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=95475&cat=500&ppuser=34079
I was thinking of using the colors for summer, camping, beach, girly-girl or birthday layout. sorry if thats to many layout ideas. I hope I did this right

I think it looks great Elina! And great ideas for those colors!

This is my 1st one. I am starting to really like bright colors. Mainly because I take alot of pics outside, at the beach, etc. I think this would work well for boys, girls, family functions, etc ...
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=95515&nocache=1
This 2nd one I love. I am thinking this one for beach, outdoors like hikes or parks. The green will blend with the grass, the blue with the skies & the yellows with the rest. This would also work well for scrapping your scenery pics.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=95516&cat=500&ppuser=41251
This 3rd one I like because of the white. Not many layouts have white in it. It would have to have a texture to make it stand out. I think these colors would work great woth anything ... winter, spring, summer, fall (if used right). Not too bright and not too dull.

Great colors for many ideas. But my inspiration is my dd and I would totally use these colors for various layouts for her and also can be used for family or a more elegant use as well.

These colors, Azure blue and Cayenne, are from Colorstrology, personalized for my birthday. I added the Sand because I like how it compliments the other colors. It feels very beachy to me. Cool, relaxed, breezy. I visualize a photo of two towel-draped Adirondack (sp?) chairs on a sandy beach, a table between the chairs with a couple strawberry daquairies (sp?) on it, and the ocean in the background.

Thanks Liz! Yes, a color gallery is cool.
Just as an example of how I get stuck in the same colors rut (which is what you are all here to help me get out of!) I have spent the day making a freebie (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=95563&cat=744&limit=recent) for the Book of Me Challenge (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13419) - can you tell my favorite colors are teal, green, and blue? Oh, and copper for the metal, almost always! So I'm really looking forward to seeing what all you like!
Now, to check out what's been posted - thanks, you all!

If I have a few minutes, I may be moving a few things around that were already posted, so don't be surprised if it's already there!

As far as what I'd scrap with these colors - my daughter, my neices, the occasional oddball son or nephew (they are usually oddball on all occasions). And probably much much more. I'm still learning HOW to scrap and I'm still learning how much I CAN scrap - like my son's snail. I need to do a snail layout. Whoda thunk it?

I love these vibrant strong colours and they all the new winter fashion colours and its nice to have some colours to scrap adult pics instead of all the pales for children.

I am not the greatest at color schemes so this is a great idea for me to improve!!
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=96209&cat=2379
These colors remind me of ice cream so may be a summery page kit or they are fairly soft so a baby kit would be good too, for either a girl or a boy.

These are colors are very vibrant. I think they would look great on a kid's page or even adults. I think they are fairly versatile!

Hi all, here is my entry. I think it may be the wrong gallery, it was hard to find. I like dark colours like in Amish Quilts. (I just moved it, I hope its in the right place now!)

Eek! I hope I am not too late!! I was doing my dishes and a color scheme came to me! I was washing icing off of plate from my son's birthday cake and I thought how pretty the colors looked together!! I took them from his Sponge Bob cake so a Sponge Bob-ish theme would be great! Esp if it were birthday themed! Here they are:

You weren't too late. I was - I took Mothers' Day off, since I am a mother and since this year is the first Mothers' Day after my mother died, but I *DID* pick a set of colors today! I'm working on it! I hope to have enough of a preview to show you soon!

I suppose it was rude of me to NOT say which color set I chose. Truth be told, I picked the one that was the furthest from my designing comfort zone, so I was nervous! I'm still nervous but the kit is coming together. I chose Vallie's dark color scheme (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=97333&limit=recent) and I read in one of her posts or layouts that she scraps teens most often, (not that I couldn't tell from her siggy) so I'm going with that. Wish me luck; this one isn't daisies and doodles! I'm pushing myself a bit.

Just to recap, because we're done with this one, but Vallie got her guitar kit a week before it went into the store! It's called Backstage Guitars (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2677); check it out. Later this month (when I get back from a short vacation) I'm going to post a bonus kit you can get for buying this one and posting a layout with it. So be thinking about what photos you want to use - sure, it's good for bands and teens with musical talent, but I want to see you stretch that kit and show me what its versatility is!
Now, I know a little secret, that will affect ALL of dsp. So check out the new color scheme challenge thread (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?p=138873#post138873) to see what's up next!
Elisabeth
06-13-2006, 02:21 AM
And now the new challenge is up, with this kit! See here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14680)!
