I'm sure this has been asked before...but here goes again.
What medium is best for backing up all these graphic files. I started with cd's but it might take more than 100. How would I ever know what was where?
There must be an easier way.
My computer is acting funny. I want to back up files before I lose everything.

Yes, I remember reading about this on the forum somewhere before! I haven't got a dvd burner or an external hard drive so I back up on cds. Needless to say I have quite a collection now and they are starting to take up a bit of room! A lot of them are repeat burns as amendments are often made to the files so I burn them again. I guess I will have to save for the dvd burner. :)

When I first started backing up I used CD's and I burned the whole files and couldn't get all that many on a CD....then it dawned on me....DUH....for back up purposes you only need to copy the ZIP file!!
Now I backup my ZIP files and usually burn over 100 digi kits on each DVD. (it's amazing how many I've collected here!) I also print a contact sheet of all the names (I make it in PSE but there may be an easier way) to fit inside the front cover of the DVD case.
I also try to backup everything to my external hard drive...but I'm a little behind on that right now.

DVD burners are at the $50 price range now. You can go to pricegrabber.com and type in dvd burner and get 150 different models rangeing from $40 and up. There is no reason to pay more than $50 though. Your local computer store in the strip mall will install it for you if you can't. Might cost an extra 35 bucks. Install it yourself and you will save that $ and learn that opening up your computer case is no big deal. Istalling a DVD burner is about the easiest upgrade that can be done no wait I think adding more RAM is even easier. With all the use of computers here I don't think I have seen any tutorials on computer upgrading.

Before I got my dvd burner, I used my cd burner, but now everything goes onto DVD's! So much more space :)
Just remember to back things up regularly
