Greetings from Kansas City.
I started scrapbooking about 12 years ago. About 5 years ago, I became a scrapbook collector instead of a scrapbooker. I kept collecting items but with not much space or time to get it all out and get organized I fell way behind and just kind of gave up.
Recently a friend was mentioning the new wave of digital scrapbooking and I decided to check it out.
I'm much more of a journaler and not very creative in making my own pages. In my work I am used to using programs to make creative documents so I'm hoping digital scrapping will be a match for me and my husband is looking forward to less clutter and more projects completed.
The last time I pulled out the paper stuff. I took 5 hours to get organized, completed 2-two page layouts and then had to put it all away.
Any help, advice and encouragement is much appreciated.:D

Welcome starbucksjunkie!
Check out the New to Digital link at the top of the page (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/Scrapping101/basics.shtml). And, then, try some of the tutorials (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/tutorials/tutorials.shtml).
There's also a forum, just for beginners to ask questions, so ask away (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31)!
You'll find digital will really open up your creativity without having to worry about the mess! Check out the freebie gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/index.php?cat=738) to download a couple kits and the classes (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/classes.shtml) here at DSU are great!
Can't wait to see your first layout!

Hi from KC north; where in kc are you? I wonder how close we are!
I have been doing paper scrapbooking for about 9 years; but honestly haven't done more then a couple of pages for the last couple of years. When I just had 1 it was much easier but now I have 3 and it's alot easier to do it digitally. I have been doing digital only for a couple of months and have gotten alot accomplished.
I have learned alot from this site, I have done the tutorials, I look at the gallery to get ideas and "scraplift" When I am doing a layout and having a block I just search the gallery for something like easter and get a ton of ideas. There are lots of free downloads etc. I have visited several sites and this is my favorite. Everyone has been so nice and helpful.
Anyway, I am pretty much kind of new myself but have learned a ton in the last couple of months but if you want any help just pm me!

Well this is strange. I'm also in KC North, Gladstone specifically:)
So what program are you all using? And how are you getting print outs of your pages?
And lastly where do you get those cool things that say how old your kids are so cool:)

Oh this is very funny, we live very close to each other. Probably seen each other before, if you frequent Liberty WalMart or Target chances are you've seen me there!!!!
I use Microsoft Digital Image Pro; I downloaded a 30 day trail version and love it. I tried Photoshop but I don't think I'm ready for that yet, it's really advanced for me. I couldn't even open a page LOL.
As far as printing, there are some articles here that help you decide. I love the 12 x 12 but haven't been able to find anyone locally to print them. SBTO (I think that's what it's called) online prints them very affordably but I getting ready to buy the 12 x 12 Epson printer. If you do 8 1/2 x 11 or 8 x 8 pages you can do it on most photo printers from what I understand.
As far as my tickers I used Lilliepie.com
BTW they are getting ready to open a Starbucks here next to the new Lowes in Liberty!!!!

Oh Noooo.. I have to go in different doors at Wally world because I'm there so much! We MUST have crossed paths. Starbucks is almost open! yesssssss... I pass it to go to Walmart. We go to Gladstone for the fabric shops and up to Antioch mall .. well not so much now.
Since we just moved here two years ago..we don't venture out much further.
I am starting out with PSP V9. I have PS V7 but it's a challenge. This all started with me wanting to do a memorial layout for my dad...this is the first Mothers day without my mom. So I know he's having a very hard time. I ended up doing two and he loved them.

Chaneyz-That is a very cool idea. The memorial page. I'd like to start something similar at our church for those who have passed. Maybe like a two page layout telling their story as a way for the family to share their memories and for others at the church to have some history on those who have passed.
I'm sorry for your loss.:(
As for me, I spent many hours yesterday trying to figure out paint shop pro v.6 from the tutorials but didn't have much luck. Wonder if I should upgrade or change software?
So FabFive, you've made a lot of progress with digital? I have two kids-one who is 8 and one who is 2. Everytime I drag out the scrapbooking supplies they want to play and make crafts with it and inevitably something gets spilled or torn. I'm hoping digital will be more productive and like I mentioned earlier I need help being creative. I'm just not good with the creative, decorative side of this. I'm a much better journaler.
Maybe we'll have a latte when the new Starbucks opens:D
