Hi! I'm a brand new digital scrapper who has been poking around on this site and others, trying to figure out how to jump into digital scrapbooking feet first! My main hobby (or should I say obsession) is photography, but since I take so many photos of my family, I thought digital scrapbooking would fit me perfectly.

I'd also like to get my mom into digital scrapbooking, since she used to enjoy making scrapbooks many many moons ago (before I was born!). Anyway, I did get her Nova Scrapbook Factory Deluxe, so she won't be too intimidated by Photoshop (at least at first).

I feel that I'm lucky I have a foot halfway through the door, since I'm (relatively) familiar with Photoshop, although I'm more used to editing photos vs. creating layouts. I'd like to figure out how to mix the graphic and paper styles of scrapping, but it's hard to figure out what "works" and what doesn't.

Ack! I have rambled on too much. I shall return to poking around on the site, and hopefully completing my first layout!

You are definately well on the way with a knowledge of Photoshop! Welcome - can't wait to see what you come up with :-)

Thanks for the welcome, Shazzt!

Ok, so it took me a while to find my way back here. I had some horrendous tries at a Christmas layout, and gave scrapping a rest. Then finally I tried using the Quick Click circles layout of Lauren Gavin, and came up with something I liked. It inspired me, and I quickly churned out another layout a few hours later! I'm on a roll here. Now to figure out how to post the layouts. I am so much more used to photography forums where I directly link my photos! Any posting FAQs around here that I'm missing?

your phtoography experience will really be useful as you learn to scrap! Graphics and retouching are two different arts, but knowing the location and general purpose of the tools will make following tutorials and such far easier!

A great photo makes a great layout. I've noticed as I have worked to make my photography better my layouts are getting more simple to let those show. A hard lesson for me is that using premade kits makes my scrapping a lot faster too, since I really enjoy making my own stuff. But time crunches me far too much lately! Raid the freebies, do the tutorials, ask questions, and make layouts. Most of all, have fun!
