Does anyone still use Picture It or remember how to use it. I am initiating my sister into the joy of digi scrapping - she has Picture It on her computer and we have learned how to do a lot of things in it but we can't figure out how to do some things:
1. How do you make dropped shadows
2. Is there an eraser in there somewhere, if not how do you rub out sections of an element to achieve the threaded through look?
3. Can you make a blank layer. It seems to put everything onto its own layer anyway, is that right?
Anything else you can tell us would be helpful. We notice that the help files are geared towards picture manipulation rather than scrapbooking specific help.

I have the same question about the drop shadows using Picture It!
I have been using a scapbook program since I started a few months ago and now that I have the hang of things, I was trying to use Picture It to make my pages but I have been spoiled by the drop shadow feature in the other program. I went through the Tutorial on this site in Image Pro, but Picture does not have that feature.....maybe I will have to upgrade to Image Pro, but there has to be a way in Picture It.
If anyone can help...THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what kind of drop shadows are you trying to make and what version of picture it do you have?
i have picture it photo premium 2001 and it lets me make drop shadows. probably the older versions didn't have the drop shadow feature. mind is under effects and illusions--shadows. you can play around with the size and position of the shadows to get them where you want.
sorry if it doesn't help you. i'm not good with describing directions and stuff so...

Thanks for helping, ladies, I am not sure what version of PI my sister has, I will ask her when next in touch. She has learnt a lot up to now, just those few things I mentioned in the first post in this thread are still puzzling us.

I use Picture It! publishing 2001. if you click on "effects and illusions" It has an option for shadows. Also you can make a blank layer. Go to file>new>blank picture or blank document. to erase you would go to "cutouts and pictures" and then just play with the different effects til you get what you want. I don't use this program much anymore, but I love the more recent versions called Digital Image Pro.

I use "Picture It! Photo" that came with XP on my computer. You can do drop shadows, but I have not been too happy with them. I can't get them to look like much more than a transparent gray rectangle. Anyway, here's how you do it:
1. Click on the object to which you want to add the shadow.
2. Choose "Photo & Color Effects" from the menu on the left.
3. Choose "Shadow" from the list.
3. Choose the type of shadow you want (mine shows a bunch of rubber ducks with different shadows). I usually use drop right or soft.
4. Click on the words "Customize the Shadow" under the selection box.
5. Change the transparency and edge softness to your liking.
6. Click Done.
7. Click on the shadow and move it to the desired position.
8. Click Done.
You can edit the shadow if you don't like how it looks by following the same steps. Once you click Done from the main shadow screen, you can't move the shadow without going back through the shadow tool.
Hope that helps! :)
