I’m Risa from Aurora (just outside of Toronto). After years of frustration --- wanting to fix, improve and manipulate my family pictures, I decided to teach myself Photoshop to help me out. After a little while (and an interesting learning curve – and forever learning) I got hooked and developed a crazy passion for working with images and digital media, i.e. composing artistic projects…composites, collages, calendars, etc, and eventually I began adding elements to and layouts to my pictures without even realizing that I was actually scrapping them digitally. When I began researching over the internet, I was amazed to find so much information, and couldn’t believe how intensely popular the practice is (to my delight). :)

I’ve worked with computers and technology for years, but wasn’t able to find a creative outlet or a passion until I got involved in digi scrapping. I really need to focus on activities that make me feel good and inspire me. I’m hoping this will help.

I think this site is awesome! I’m looking forward to finding my place here and getting to know others. I’ll try to upload some things soon.

Thanks everyone and take care.

Welcome to DSP, Risa! Yeah, this is a pretty great place! I've only been at this for about 6 months, but I've learned so much in that short amount of time. Everyone here is so supportive and helpful. And this is truly one of the friendliest online communities I've been to! It won't take long to get to know people :)

So jump in with both feet! Post a layout, join a challenge, check out the chat schedule! We're glad you're here!

Hi Risa - welcome to a great place. I live about an hour north of you. I had a really good friend growing up in Toronto named Risa. She was the only one I knew with that name.:) Now I know 2!

Jan, that's so cool, there really aren't that many Risa's --- or they spell their name wrong - you know, like the peanut butter cup ;) LOL

I love that you knew a Risa, AND that you live so close to me - "where exactly"?

BTW, I have a sister named "Janice". :) but she doesn't have an SLR camera and even if she did, I'm about 100% sure that her pictures wouldn't be as beautiful as the ones in your gallery. They are really inspiring.

Thanks for writing Jan. I look forward to more chats :)
