This is probably a total newbie question.... but what are the rules for getting published? Do you have to create every last detail on your own? Or do you just document whose stuff you used? What about random fonts off the internet? Or just random stuff in general? I haven't always been 100% careful about documenting what I got where. Just curious. What if you take something you found and manipulated it... I know I'm not ready to enter anything yet, but I'm curious about the process and *HOPEFUL* :D that I will have something good enough someday!

THANKS :)

No you don't need to create all your own stuff - but if you use someone else's, then the magazines expect you to provide a full materials list. If you can't remember where you got a font, "downloaded from the internet" along with the font name seems acceptable. You can easily google font and kit names and find the sites. The other thing you should be aware of is that many magazines expect your submissions to be previously unpublished - and publishing includes posting to an on-line gallery. So if you do a layou that you are thinking of submitting, I would keep it out of your gallery in the meantime.
