Not sure on the others but the one from Katrin Eisman and the one from Scott Kelby for Digital Photographers would be the first two I would buy.

The Down and Dirty Book I have also and is good and although the Channels one is a new one I'm sure it will be an excellent learning toolas are all of Scott Kelbys books.

In my opinion you should be able to learn all you need from your cameras manual and from the hands on stuff, but Jen is a Nikon girl she may be able to say wether these others books are good value or not :)

I think I have everything from Scott Kelby, he is one of my favorites. I took a class from Katrin Eisman and she was incredible. I had one of her books before and got another after. I would recommend anything from either of them.

i would add
"the best of children's portrait photography" by bill hurter from amherst media
it isn't just for digital or film and its not just for kid's pics (though theres lots of cool ones in the book)
