My name is Carin and I am new to digital scrapbooking (2 weeks). I live in Northern NJ and am married with a 2 year old son (Jack) who keeps me "hopping" as I am sure the rest of you Moms out there can relate. I tend to be a hermit and am not great at connecting with people. Working out of my home now does not help but I am trying to get myself out more. I just took a digital photography and a watercolor class and am attempting horseback riding lessons now at age 35 (yikes!)... not sure what's next yet but since it is summer and I desperately NEED physical excercise besides chasing a 2 yr old and I am thinking I should do something sporty.

I've got tons of photos that sit in the computer and although I've accumulated paper scrapping supplies I somehow never get around to using them no matter how good my intentions are (big big procrastinator!!). I can't tell you how many art supplies I have for all different types of mediums (scrapbooking being one) that I NEVER get around to using. It's become the joke with my friends.

This digital discovery is so exciting because I know I will actually DO this!!! I have PSE 3 and have been wanting to learn more about using it. Also this online venue fits best into my busy schedule as it isn't always easy to get a babysitter!

I love art and even went to design school (FIT in Manhatten) for a fashion design career designing handbags, shoes etc. that I never ended up pursuing. Instead I fell into a Marketing position for a consumer products company and now work out of my home crunching numbers. I've been needing a creative outlet for some time and I think this could be it. I look forward to everyone's feedback and to the inspiration from all of your work! :)

Welcome carinc!
You've definitely come to the right place!!

Be sure to check out the New to Digital link at the top of the page (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/Scrapping101/basics.shtml).

And, then, try some of the tutorials (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/tutorials/tutorials.shtml).

There's a forum, just for beginners to ask questions, so ask away (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31)!

You've got some great layouts already in your gallery - can't wait to see more!!

Welcome!!! I completely "get" the unused art supplies. My laundry room has been taken over with shelves holding everything from sewing machines to polymer clay doll sculpting supplies!!!

For me, the best thing about digital is there is NO CLEANUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D

Welcome to DSP! Boy have you ever found the right place to connect! This place is full of people with the same interests and passions are you. Sure can understand the need to play with no mess - bad enough to keep up with the children alone, no need for more 'stuff'!

phooey- I had a response all typed out yesterday and it must not have gone through.

I just wanted to welcome you from another mom in North Jersey.
i ahd also suggested to checkout the Rag Shop/Michael's/AC Moore for any scrap classes. They seem to always have something going on.

Also Jack will be a great door opener for you- hit the parks and you be sure to meet a lot of moms that way.
