I discovered a Font Creator Program online at:
http://www.high-logic.com/fcp.html
Granted... it costs $50 to purchase, but you can download a FREE 30-day trial, which would give you plenty of time to create a font of your own handwriting or what-not!!!
Just thought I'd share this with you all. I'm going to download the trial version and when I've finished creating my own font, I'll upload it on the net for anyone that would like to use it. I hope someone finds this thread useful! ;)

have you done this yet? how did it turn out?
I looked at a font trial awhile back, and it was really nice...except I couldn't export the fonts I made without purchasing! I never actually did anything with it, that was kind of demoralizing for a font freak
Have you tried this yet? Can you export the fonts?

Yes, you can. I just installed the trial version a few days ago though and am still trying to get the hang of it. *sigh* It's a lot more work than I thought it would be, because unless there's some easy way of doing it that I can't figure out... I have to save every individual handwritten letter and number and import them into the program one by one. I haven't found the time, and I can get impatient, so thus far I've only got capital letters A-G done. Pathetic, huh?

That's the program that I use, though I use an older version. I've made about 40 or so fonts, many of them handwriting fonts, and there is no easy way to do it. One letter at a time is what it takes. Once you get going you really can do it faster. The first couple of handwriting fonts I made took me over 40 hours to make, now I can do one in about 20 hours or so. The hard part is just finding the time to do it. Of course, that doesn't really count the time it takes to write up the letters, scan them, separate them... I used to charge people for fonts, now I will do it for free if I like their handwriting, if they can scan it & email it to me, if I can share their font with my font groups, & I usually only ask for something small as a thank you... like yarn, my other obsession.

Oh, cool! I've used Fontographer, and there is a major learning curve. Very tedious and painstaking, and I am NOT the worlds' most patient person.... But the end result (when done well - and I'm NOT saying I do super-well) is just so WORTHIT! :)

Wow! That looks like a great deal! I just wish I could use it....(it's made for Windows only, and I'm on a Mac).
