Lauren, HELP!! I'm so close to completion - but I'm stuck!! Am using PS 7. Am on step 12 where you write: "Fill the placement template as you did with the larger photo by selecting the photo placement area and inverting the selection and deleting excess photo for each photo you choose to use."

I've filled, I've inverted, but I cannot figure out how to delete the excess.

HELP!! (hope this is an okay place to post this question!!)

THANKS!!!

Ok! I guess you have to invert the selection once again and hit the delete button! Just give it go and let me know if it worked!

Ok let me make this simpler.
First you take your magic wand and click on the area you wish to fill. Let's assume it's the first box in the filmstrip. So you click on the black portion that's meant for the photo. Copy your photo and paste into the selection. Now once the photo has been filled into the box, adjust it and move it around till you get it just right.
Next, we delete the EXCESS and this is how: invert the selection, and hit the delete button. Make sure, that throughout this process, you do not click outside the selection or select any other portion of the template. I hope this works!

Thanks sugarplum - yes tahts exactly it - once you have the selection on the qc layer - then move to the photo layer - invert the selection and hit delete - remember there are more detailed tutorials in the tutorial section - check under the USING DSP category for them in most applications

Well, for whatever reason, I couldn't get the above instructions to work - can't keep the dark square magic-lasso-selected whilst pasting and moving the photo. Inverting and pushing the delete key thus did nothing - in History it said "Clear" whenever I did that step. Nevertheless, I figured out a way to make it work via cut/copy/paste/delete layer - the completed project is on my blog and will be the first entry in my DSP gallery, once I figure out how to post there!

Thanks for the advice, all!!

you dont select until after you have pasted the photo - you move the photo around and resize it - then select the template layer - move to the photo layer - invert and delete

Oh, sorry, guess I should have posted a link here! It's the only entry in my gallery:

Thanks, everyone!
