I'm putting together a list for newbies of the benefits of digital scrapping. List all your ideas here! Thanks for your help!

The biggest benefit for me, is the lack of MESS. :p

I still have a 'craft' box with all my card making 'stuff' and still wondering why I have it. The kids do like using those things, but it definitely is messy.

With digital scrapping, its all on the screen, unless you want to print...no mess, no fuss.

Its alot cheaper and easier. If I buy elements for digital, they can be used over and over again. Not so with paper & embellishments. Also if a color isn't just right, I can change it easily. Oh.. and if I try something and don't like it, I just UNDO. I haven't ruined any photos or supplies.

you can sit down to work for 5-10 minutes then save and walk away. and your four-year-old doesn't stick stickers all over his body and tie himself up with fiber!!

I'd have to say:

great for a budget

reusable - over and over and over and over. Both for elements and otherwise. I make "cards" in PSP 8, have them stored and when a bday or anniv. etc. comes up I just have to print them out. I add some traiditonal embellishments and current info (name, etc.) but much quicker than making cards from scratch each time!

changeable with minimum effort

you can design one thing, and change one slight thing easily if you decide to later on without having to redo everything

multiple copies without having to make the same page (traditionally) over and over

You can change, resize your photos with out spending extra money or drive anywhere for someone else to do it for you.

Another thing, you don't have to drag out boxes of stuff, just turn on your computer and grab your CD's that are full of pictures and elements, etc.

If you have a laptop you can take it with you!! And you won't get a backache carrying it!(those who paper scrap knows what I am talking about) :D

#1 reason, before cheap and non-messy

IT'S SO freakin' COOL!
When the last time you saw paper layouts that look as cool as the stuff we're making?!

Just got through unpacking and looking through my paper books, what a joke! I'm inspired by all the great paper scrappers to try again someday, but for now the stuff I make is 10k times more beautiful!

Love this place! So much gorgeous art!

It's easy to share! I can make a layout, post it online, and have dozens of people take a look at it. (I'm getting seriously addicted to the nice things people say<g>) I could scan a paper layout and do the same thing - but since my paper layouts are 12"x12" I'd have to fiddle with it...

It's also easy to get feedback and suggestions - and then go and make changes to *this* layout (I had one last week that went through 3 versions before I fell in love with it.) With paper scrapping, with everything stuck down, moving the journaling over 1/2" just isn't going to happen.

No hammers...no glue..no sizzors...no eyelets flying all over the house when you open the box wrong..No more long trips to the scrap store with 2 kids and no idea what to buy..buying too much and having no idea what to do with it all becuase the colors dont match. and a thousand other reasons.. :)

You never have to worry about "ruining" an original photo. Since your heritage, antique and even new treasured photos can safely be preserved in a traditional format, you can tear edges, do funky techniques, etc., and not worry about your originals.

FONTS! You can use them with ease. Use 1 to 10 different fonts in one layout without using the printer or any other method.

Using everything over and over, no mess, and you can undo something if you mess up!!!! :D

I love digital scrapbooking for all the reasons previously mentioned. But for me the Best reason is mobility!!! If I want to go somewhere else & scrap I can!! I can either bring my CDs to my sister's or I can bring the laptop & have everything in one back and not worry about leaving that one pair of scissors at home. :)

I also love the fact that anything seen done with paper can be done on the computer (I'm not to that point yet but I've seen lots of people here with that ability). Sometimes it looks more real!

I also love that the investment made into software, cds, cameras, computer hardware, printers...are not limited to just scrapping or crafting....Your dh can use it for work, kids can use it for school, etc...Your not limited. (I mean what am I supposed to do with my sizzix?--I guess it could double for a great paper weight :D )

All of the above... besides, I'm a bit of a geek, according to my DH :p

I agree with everything above, but my #1 reason is SAFETY!!!

I have three little boys. When I paper scrapped, I had to worry about them getting ahold of little parts and pieces and choking on them, toxic and caustic liquids, many sharp objects including multiple pairs of scissors, shape cutters, blades, etc, hot tools such as an embossing gun, I could go on and on.

I don't have to deal with those hazards and stresses anymore! :D

Well, DANG, what can I add that hasn't already been said???????

I think for me that (of course in addition to Margie's comment about the 4-year old tied up in fibers, etc) I somehow am more creative on the computer...... You guys are going to totally roll your eyes at me, but digitally, it's all about the process....... With my paper scrapping, I was more concerned with getting all the pictures on there, journaling, and making it look good..... I had 18,000 styles going on at once and it just doesn't look balanced/pleasing to me. My digital stuff, though, is ART... And the process is as important as the result (many times I don't even print the stuff!)..... So, in addition to all those things you all have mentioned, I'd add the process stuff........ :) Of course......

I should change my signature to say, "it's all about the process, man..."

Its been said before but for me digital scrapbooking is great because theres no mess & its totally economical. I think it also allows you to become creatively free because you can try things & if it doesn't look right then you can undo it in a second!

Coming from a country that is just about dipping its toe into the Scrapbooking World, computer scrapping is a definite bonus for me. I had begun to "paper scrap" in October 2003 and was sending to America for papers. It was whilst searching for these that I came across SBB, I have never looked back and can't get enough of Digi Scrap Sites. Before when I was scrapping one of my cats (my children are all over 20 now so no hassles there) took great pleasure in running amok amongst my papers etc. making it even harder to be creative. I love the fact that everything is re-usable, you can change the colour to suit AND there's no mess to clear up. If you don't like the finished result, change it or delete with no guilty feelings of having wasted money. I just wish when my kids were small the digi age had been happening, never mind I can scan in all my duff pics and make pretty LO's anyway. Another plus for me is that I have learned to do so many things in PSP that my head is gettin huge! Still only touched the tip of the programme so I guess I'm gonna have to buy some BIG head gear in the future, ha, ha, ha.

Lack of mess
don't have to buy a million tools for it
you can start and stop and come back to it and have it the same as it was.
You make one thing or buy it, and you can use it over and over again
You can colrize anything you make to match each and every layout
You can take a layout and turn it into a card easily
you can share your layouts with ease
you don't get glue all over or burn your fingers
if something ages or gets torn you can reprint it good as new
You make a mistake it is a heck of allot easier to fix it

I have hundreds of dollars of paper and elements in a specially bought cart that I have not touched for nearly a year....since I found this site and digital scrapbooking. I am not good at the digital but I am learning. I would think the only down side to digital it learning the computer. BUT with that in mind this site is great to show you what to do. I have learnt heeps. Where can you go with the paper scrapping to:-

1. have chats and meet new friends all over the world and their advise on
anything you need
2. Improve your LO's with everyone joining in to help
3. Find just the kit you want for the new photo or in my case the new block
of photos.
4. Kits also help to expand your imagination so that your LO's are better than
they would have otherwise been.
5. The tutorials expand your knowledge and based on that your imagination.
ie. when you learn something you try it out many ways and sometimes
you come up with something great.

I can probably go on and on but I think that is enough.

One more thing when you are sick and home bound alone this site is fantastic to fill in the days with something worthwhile. There are only so many hours you can read, watch TV and sleep.

I never got into paper scrapping because I didn't have room for all the stuff and with 2 big dogs, I could see the whole thing turning into a disaster.

And I'm with Lauren - Undo is my friend!!!

It is FUN, FUN, FUN! :)

I have met a lot of new friends
I'm sharing my pages with others more
It is cheaper
I think it is more creative
There is a lot to learn so you can perfect and grow with your pages
You can trade ideas with other fellow digiscrappers
Get inspired by other scrappers

No mess. That has been the best. I love that I can just close my laptop and the mess is gone.
