Ok - the challenge is for a best dressed dummy - so push the envelope - most of you are MORE than capable.
THINK about the following things
stitching
pockets
sleeves
curves/splits in dress
hang a necklace/feathers/buttons
Think about the details - use DIP tools to bulge that pocket - come on girls YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone needing help just ask - but shhhhhhhhhhhhh we are going to work over in this corner of the forums and unleash DIP creativity on the unsuspecting DSP gallery - DIP ROCKS!!!!

Okay one question - I did my layout, was all set to post it to the DIP gallery but got an error message when I clicked on link.
Also, by the time I finished my first Dummy-up, Lauren had offered the prize and asked us to post in the Gimme More Gallery - so mine is there!
Here it is:

Yep she rocks. I just saw this post. LOL The reason I bought the kit was to see if it could be done in DIP. Here are the three I did earlier for Lauren's challenge. I am working on another one but will have to post it later.

I'm not sure if I should be linking "ALL" my posts here or not. But I did start this because of Ann Maree's challenge and I want ALL the DIP/DIS users to do this thing - it's really easy and loads of fun!
Here are my 2 latest:

BTW - I did another lingerie style one - you'll have to look for it yourself - no use making it easy LOL. Funny thing is, I find I use more elements/materials to cover less area - hmmmm?

Can I ask you to write any tips or "how to" in this thread - maybe citing some of your layouts - many dip girls are watching you and your work from the background!!! You are using lots of tools others have not dared to so any tips would help many!!!

1. Open your Dummy.
2. Use your Magic Wand to select the dummy. Hold the shift key down and keep clicking the magic wand till all is selected.
3. Click on effects, then scroll down to fill with texture or color.
4. Choose Picture. then open picture. Then you will need to decided on what you would like to use.
5. From there use freehand tool to choose what you do not want on your dummy. Try lots of different things to get the effect you want. Oh don’t forget to apply the dummy overlay.
Here is how I made the yellow polka Dotted Bikini. LOL I went to a favorite online store and found a string bikini. I saved it to my computer and enlarged it to fit the dummy. I should say I already had done steps 1 -4. I used the transparency brush on the picture so I could see my dummy. Then I selected the dummy and cut away till I had a bikini. Where it did not fit the dummy quite right, I used the freehand paint brush and filled in and then cut away what was not needed.

I used to be an Accounting Manager so I'm not really good at writing down instructions! But I'd love to help any one with PictureIt, DIP or DIS win this thing - we need some R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
I'll try to give the most important points:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=111777&cat=500&ppuser=11546
The background was from a page kit - did it just like any other layout. So I won't go there.
The night shirt. I used all white - this is tough to see - so try using 2 different colors til you get the hang of it - you can always change colors or do a fill command with a patterned paper later on. After loading the dummy - without the overlay - I use the insert shape command. I inserted a big rectangle - white, layered it beneath the dummy so I could see the outline of shoulders, etc. Now this is a loose tee shape so nothing close-cut here. I highlight the layer with the white rectangle, then I freehanded crop using my mouse. Using dummy as a guide, I do straight lines over the outline of the shoulders to cut out top and sides. Also remember, when doing straight lines while freehanding, just click to start and release, don't try to draw it! This gives you a free, clean, straight line to your next point, just go to next point and click to anchor, then do this again, at "hem" and again when you start up the other side. Click on starting square to complete crop and copy and paste shape. It doesn't look like much but it is a sleeveless t-shirt. I get the sleeves using a similar technique - which is why I copy and paste white shape and don't cut it up - I'm lazy! I use same white rectangle, brought forward, and the rounded top rectangle shape under the Marquee crop field, I don't know what it's called - sorry. This is my favorite shape. I copy and paste a small one for one sleeve - eyeball it and don't fret about size - you can shrink or enlarge it - it's just a sleeve! I also use the rounded end to cut out a neck shape in the flat top of the 'tee'. The heart shape can be used to make a bustier top or a gown top. Half of the heart can make a poofy sleeve. Half of the diamond shape makes a bikini top or can be used to cut out a sharp vee neck in a solid rectangle making it a blouse or vest, or use 2 of them to make a halter style top for dresses or gowns or shorts. Of course, a regular rectangle makes an contemporary strapless top too! Look at the shape and think - what can I make with this?
Now you start to play with the shapes you have, move them around, shrink, rotate, etc til they are approx the size and place you want. Now you play. Do you want stitching around neck and sleeves? Go find some - there's a great round zig zag shape in Lauren's Seamstress Kit - it's what I used for the neck, hem and sleeve detail. Just pull, push, brighten, recolor, tint, stretch til you get what you want in the size you want. Don't worry - if you screw it up you can delete the mess and reload a brand new one - that's the beauty of digital! After I got the stitching down, I grouped/attached it to the sleeve, and attached the hem and neck stitching to the main body. Under Effects, use the Distort tool - not brush - and "relax" the stiff shapes, just a little - by rippling it, make it not so sharp, it looks more like cloth, I usually use +/- 2 to 6. If you like, click done to keep it. You can apply multiple layers of distortion, you just have to do them one at a time. The last Distort command I usually use is the perspective one - you don't need it so much on a t-shirt but boy do you need it on a skirt! Don't worry - there's a reset button/undo if you don't like it. If you like how it looks - duplicate the sleeve, flip the duplicate horizontally and now you have 2 sleeves and a tee body - place them where you like and group them. Normally I don't shadow the sleeves separately from the blouse, dress, etc but here it was white on white and I didn't want to draw the seam by hand (Yikes!) so I used the shadow to do it for me - like I said - lazy.
That's it. I then added the word art as embellishments - could've used bling, die cuts, whatever. Then I used Lauren's overlay. It's form fitted. The T-shirt isn't so you have to transparency brush out the shoulders buttocks and sides, keep them if you're doing a form fitted dress, blouse, etc, but all I needed here were some bumps in the right place - so I erased everything else. One final word Touchup - Other Photo Repair - Dodge and Burn - the greatest tools in the DIP menu. You can do shadow, hills, mountains, amazing things with this tool. I love it. It's how I added some movement to the bottom of the t-shirt - I set it -6 or so, soft edged and played with size just did a couple of light strokes to bottom and I have some dimension. If Lauren didn't give us the overlay with the bumps in the right space, this tool would have done it for you! I hope this doesn't confuse you too much - if you have any questions that I can answer - post here - I'm subscribed to this thread. Of course I only go on-line once a day usually so it might not be an immediate response. I also started out by using PictureIt - various versions. I loved those programs and the older versions may not have all the bells and whistles but the basic tools are there.

Here's another one that was really very quick and easy to do:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=110862&cat=500&ppuser=11546
The bodice was the heart shape tool from the Marquee Crop area - after cutting out the shape I layered it under the dummy and trimmed the excess off the sides of the heart using the freehand crop tool. Then I used the fill with Texture or Color Tool and chose a bg paper from the kit I was using, in this case Lisa Carter's Eat your veggies Page kit. I cut stitching from Lauren's stitched circle that came with the Seamstress kit, cut ribbons from the striped paper from Lisa's kit, distorted them slightly so they looked more like cloth and the top was done.
For the skirt - I used the rounded top rectangular shape from the Marquee crop tools and filled it with another paper from Lisa's kit. I used Distort command (under Effects) and rippled it a little sideways so it looked full and pleated. But the top was still too round and big, so I used the Distort Command again and using the perspective this time, I slid the button til it looked the way I wanted it to look. More like a skirt - less like a pumpkin! I layered it over the dummy and the bodice, cut off any excess at the top and then using another strip of bg paper I made a "belt" to cover the messy seam area. I used the Distortion Brush this time to "bulge" the center only. Plopped a piece of hardware from the kit and the dress was almost done. The final touch was plopping Lauren's dummy overlay on top for some subtle definition and then I erased the bottom part of the overlay - didn't need it on a full skirt and used my favorite tool, the Dodge and Burn tool under Touchup/Other Photo Repairs, and shaded in some deepness to the pleats!

WOW. I never thought about using the shapes to get the effect. Now I just might have to play again. I have never used those tools. I hope we have a chat on how to use them. One day I hope to be as good at DIP as you are.
