so, i'm wondering how many of you use a specific workspace in ps? i HAVE to have mine set up the same way or it throws me off! i so resist change. :) (in case you don't know, when you have all the palettes you want open and have them lined up the way you like, you can save the workspace! window > workspace > save workspace) anyway, i had to reinstall ps on my new computer and that's the first thing i did was to redo my workspace. but now that i have a much larger screen, i can actually see a two page layout plus my palettes! so i might change it and open a few more, we'll see. but i was wondering if you guys like to open and close them at will, just open what you need, have them all open, or keep it customized like i do. inquiring minds... :)

I had to reset to the default for writing my PS class, and that was hard! I didn't save the workspace, though, as I had just gotten two monitors and knew I had to figure it all out again.

It was a surprise when I upgraded that all my palettes were "in the wrong place", LOL!

Since Troy has his own computer with PS installed on it, he doesn't mess with my settings, so I don't save the workspace; it comes up the same each time I open it.
Now in PSP, saving a workspace saves all the currently open documents too, so I save in there a lot if I have a ton of stuff open and have to go to bed...
like I have to do right now! :D

I did have my palette's set in a certain way.... but, I have found as I grow more proficient in PS then I rearrange my palettes because I need certain palettes more than others.

Like Margie, I'm totally loving my wide-screen laptop because I can have all of my palette's open, and my layers palette open all the time (and really long) next to all the others.

I dont bother to save my workspace as each item I am working on requires different palettes open more than others - and as I dont have a nice wide screen monitor ( just a regular 17 inch) - I like to optimize my space as much as possible - so if Im doing a layout with more journalling or text I will have my character palette on top , - Of course I always have my styles and brushes palettes very handy!!!!

I always have all open & always use the default.............. boring I know but I've tried other ways and always come back. Occassionalyy shift things but always come back to default.
I'm not sure if this works with all versions of Photoshop, but with CS if you use the screen mode "Full Screen with menu bar" (type in F to quickly access it) if you type in H at any time you get the hand which can easily move your LO & you can access any corner in any zoom easily.
You probably all also use press Tab to temporarily hid all tools?
