Thank you everyone for joining us in the Fandango this evening. Our new challenge for this week is:
Focus on edges and borders. Often in freestyle layouts you will see things 'framed' in different and unique ways. Lots of things can be framed in a layout...the photos, the journaling block, decorative elements, even the layout as a whole. And, you can use lots of different things to add an edge or frame....doodles, grunge brushes, tape, ribbon, buttons, etc. So this week we want to see you come up with a freestyle layout that uses frames (or 'edges') in different and unique ways. Be creative, inventive, and show us your 'Fandango Groove' :) :) :) To receive the posting bonus be sure and use something from one of the following kits by Suzanne:
Photo edges:

Doodle edges:

http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=8&products_id=3038
http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=8&products_id=3039

http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&manufacturers_id=8&products_id=3200
Post your links here. Suzanne is working on a brand new product that she will be giving away as a posting bonus to all those who complete this challenge.
Okay everyone.......Let's Fandango!!!!!!

this was the nkotb layout I was talking about at the chat tonight. I guess I could swap out the bracket with one of Suzanne's doodles after the judging and stick it in the fandango gallery!!

Here's one from me.... I framed the picture by "stamping" one of Suzannes Edgy Edges on it, off centered. For some reason cropping the photo to that size looked wrong but I like focusing the eye on the girl by framing it. I also framed the page with journaling.

I hated missing the chat.... hope to be there next week.

I gave it a try too. I framed the picture and then used a doodle frame around the cast on his leg. and framed the journalling too. Please tell me if it is too much.. any cc is welcome. Thanks

This is one I just did for the DET boot camp challenge " gallery Presence" not sure I achieved that but I know it has a fandango style to it, just love that fandango.!!! used Grungy Edges and part of the framing is from the actually photos themselves. Would love any CC to help me make it more WOW for the DET.

This one isn't 'over the top' fandango, but I did play around with some elements of freestyle...hand written fonts and unique edges and frames:

I felt like having another go at this challenge. It has made me realise- after I saw this in the gallery, that I usually place photos not tilted, so I'll challenge myself to try something different next time. Also, in retrospect, I wish I had carried on with more of a border with the tiny frames instead of the squiggle. CC very welcome because I don't know if I'm fandangoing or square dancing! LOL

I did another one which I'm not 100% sure is freestyle but I am posting it here for discussion... this one isn't framed with Suzanne's edges but it is CHOCK-full of her fonts (I love her fonts!) I've been trying to scrap these photos for a couple of days and just hadn't gotten anything I really liked. Framing the title area and journaling area finally resulted in something I'm happy with so that's why I'm posting it here. CC welcome.

This is a layout I did with this week's IOTW. But I gave it a little fandango flair (just can't help myself I guess! ;)) added some edges on the photo, journaled on the photo and did a little bit of mixed media (graphic & paper style elements.)

I didn't set out to specifically do a freestyle LO but I think it may be.
I know it doesn't qualify for a posting bonus as I didn't use Suzanne's edges.
This is what happened after Debb Cozzi gave me some feedback on a DET bootcamp LO - thanks for that Debb, I'd never considered "trapped" space before.

:p
From everything I've read here about freestyle goes against all the elements and principles of design which I follow religiously since starting in paper collage years ago. So I don't know if I subconsiously made this non-freestyle....let me know and again, I always welcome CC.
And thank you thank you thank you for making a separate thread each week - this helps organization soo much!

Here are a couple more fandango layouts I came up with today. This first one uses the fun doodle arrows Suzanne gave everyone last week as a posting bonus:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=123289&cat=994
This second one uses one of Rene's terrific kits. If you are new to freestyle and are looking for an easy way to start I would encourage you to get one of Rene's kits, combine it with one or more of Suzanne's fonts and you will have yourself a great fandango layout!
