OK. It started with the text. I would have everything set up, stroke and fill colours chosen, fonts and sizes, everything looks fine. For instance, I have green text with a stroke width of 8.0, in a cream colour.

When I click "Apply" it reverts to a solid colour, the stroke goes to green as well and I get blobbly text instead of the nicely defined stuff I had before.

Now its doing it with all of my vector tools. I set the colours for drawing a rectangle, then after its drawn, it miraculously changes its colour to something I had chosen before.

WHY IS IT DOING THIS???! :) As you can see, its maddening. The text thing especially is getting worse and worse. If I edited the text it would eventually stick, but now it just keeps doing it. Help.

one possibility I can think of right away: on the Materials Palette, do you have All Tools checked? (should be)
Or it might be time to blast the registry using the Zap-Jasc utility (search Corel)

Oh wow! Thank you thank you thank you!

Zapjasc.exe totally did the trick. Chalk one up to the "I had no idea" category. You would not believe the fury this was causing me.

there are different options, but the one that usually clears up PSP9 squaks is called something along the lines of "clear the registry". Apparently the registry can get really garbled up by PPS... my first weird thing was not getting thumbnails when in thumbnail-view ... I was near to tearing out my hair, but some nice chap at JASC (*that* long ago) helped me out!
