Just wondering where all you guys get your digital photographic files printed? Here in the UK there are a couple of pro labs that I would consider using although at present I have been printing my own work @ home, do alot of you guys print your own stuff & if so what printers have ya got?

I go to samsclub for 8 x 10s when I want a photo look. I go to kinkos when just a laser print out will do. I dont enjoy printing at home because my printer is not a photo printer or a wide-format. And it gets me when I use all that ink :p

Unless it's over 8½x11, I print at home.

I've been uploading to walmart (i'm in canada). If you order from their website you can get an 8x10 for 2.97, whereas if you get it in the store it's 7.97 (weird eh?). Their prints (4x6 i think) are .25 each, and costco is the same. Costco is $3.99 for an 8x10.

I print at home on Epson Stylus Photo 2200, like it, I use another Epson, the C42 that came with my husband's computer to do "draft prints" because it is cheaper on the ink and the color is much the same.

Amanda, I'm curious, if you don't print your LOs, do you just keep them on CD's or do you create digital scrapbooks on CDs... share! If you do create digital scrapbooks, what do you use?

Eventually I would like to print them all...but dh is in school full time so my only income comes from this site (shameless plug :)) So, for the time being I make slideshows with PSP Photo Album.

Schmoopy, do you get your prints sent from the States (Walmart) or is there a Canadian web site?

Most is at home, I have an hp 1100 or quality with an Olympus Dye Sublimation.
Japan camera has a website and have found them to be quite inexpensive for everyday work, they mail them, takes 1-2 days.

What have you found to be the best paper for printing pics? I have the same printer and it seems very touchy with different papers. The last brand I bought at Sams was atrocious. I took it back with the proof in hand. But I haven't bought any more yet. I haven't really printed much at home but would like to.
TIA,
Tania
THe best papers to use are the ones that go with your brand printer...I have an Epson 2200 and all I use is the Epson papers...but I have also tried the Ilford Galerie paper and that prints beautifully as well....
I hope to post in the next couple of days a list of online options for printing..so you can all test for yourselves what works and what doesnt....If I have a lot of printing I usually use Walmart b/c of the pricing..but I have found a ton of great sites that I want to try....

The epson 2200 looks a great printer ,it's on my list to buy. It's known as the epson 2100 in England which I finally found out after three days of searching for an Epson 2200  .
Do you guys who have the 2200 often print A3 size and how cost effective do you find it?

For christmas cards, I take to Kinkos. They do the bulk with cutting so much faster...and the most I had to wait was a day to get them back.
Now for printing layouts, I just use my new printer I got for my business/christmas. It is an HP photosmart 7260 and does wonderful 8 x8 layout prints...when I don't have color management on...duh....rofl. Learned that one the hard way. ;)
I swear, if I could, I would marry my HP...I love it!!!
