Does anyone have an actual photography subject that they specialize in, such as portraiture, still life, fine art photography??? I tend to specialize in portraiture myself & just love to capture the human condition. I think there is nothing better than capturing a moment in time where people are involved, it might be young lovers walking down the road oblivious to what is going on around them, or a mother & her newly born baby. I find people so interesting that they always seem to be predominant in most of my images!

What do you guys like to photograph, come share pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee!

Smiles, Emma.

I seem to be better at taking pictures of nature... flowers, trees, animals, etc. I don't do people or action well at all. I would like to be able to take pictures of people that don't look so "posed", but they always seem to look up at me when I am talking the picture with that deer in the headlight look, lol. Flowers don't give me such a hard time.

I absolutely agree, portrait photography is absolutely the art of telling a story without a word. I tend to do mostly sepia and b/w work, but I have to admit I have a passion for the things in nature that seem to be ugly but are always beautiful like a milkweed plant finally opening its pods to let its seeds fly- The colors are incredible

I haven't been using a digital camera for very long but I love the look of the close ups (macro?) any tips?

What camera do you have Sandi? My recommendation for a good macro shot is to really make sure your focus is tack sharp.

I seem to do well with nature shots. People can be in them, just not the subject of them..hehe

I would love to get better at portrait type shots; but my lighting always seems to be off. I also need a tripod (which I have requested for Mothers Day) and some lenses for my camera.

So, I will be working on other areas to see how I do!!! :D

Some of you have seen my b/w nature shots; and here another ..I love the effect...it is a close up of the rocks along the ocean and a tidal pool. :)

Ooooooooooooooooh, Emma! What a great question!

I love capturing the absolute beauty in everyday moments or scenes. You know? Something we'd walk by a hundred times and not really notice. Like an Indiana sunset on a farm... Or a kid concentrating so hard on writing a letter or something that they don't even know you're there...... Or that expression that one of my kids always seems to have. I just love that. I'd say that I'm pretty split between portraiture and nature stuff. But I haven't really been doing photography seriously all that long, so I keep thinking that a style will emerge...... I love macros... Love kids. Love family interaction. Love scenery... Love it all!

I'd have to say my "specialty" (the area I've had the most Luck) is in landscapes. I really enjoy taking and viewing the results of mountain scenes, beach scenes etc.

I love love love child photography and portraiture. Kids are so innocent and unposed. I also like to do fairytale-ish photos. Kids adore dressing up and I adore taking their photos. I am fairly good at flowers and the such but well anyone can do flowers :)

I don't really have a specialty yet! I mainly try to take pics of the family for scrapping. But I did just take some pictures of some flowers in my yard and they turned out really nice.

i'm more of a point and shoot pics that highlight an event or moment, then run to the next one. i've not really concentrated on photography (and yes, it shows). i've spent more time in scrapping/editing them than taking them. even though the photography is one of the most important parts of capturing the event or moment. go figure. MACRO

I LOVE to shoot pics of my kids so I can almost SMELL them while viewing... Maybe because I started paying attention to photography when I had Shelby 4+ years ago and had to return to work at an office with just a computer screen to help me stay *close* to her. My dh calls me The Close-Up Queen...

I don't have a particular subject...though photography is something I definietly want to learn more about! I have gotten a few terrific shots by being in the right place at the right time...like for this shot....

Although I'll have a go at almost anything, my love is portraiture and I guess not everyone will like it but I love to take glamour/lingere type images, not the smutty kind  more the sexy without showing it all kind, oh and flowers, I love flowers :)

Some tips for you!--blurr out the background and make sure that subject is in sharp focus. Oh yeah and use a tripod!!!! I have a tendency not to use a tripod and didn't get as sharp as I wanted. HTHs and Good luck!!!

My job is Bio-Medical and Combat photography. So i gues my everyday style is photojournalistic. But I freelance in everything, portraits, sports, weddings and my degree is Digital Design, so when I'm not shooting, I'm designing for other photographers (albums and 3D presentations)
