I want to be able to electronically use my purchased 12 x 12 scapbook paper. I assume I need to scan the paper, stitch together, then add photo's, embellishments etc. Soooo.. I need to get a very good scanner to ensure quality is not lost. Does anyone have a suggestion? I currently use my HP officejet all-in-one.

Thanks,
Diann

Diann:

You may want to check into whether you have the license to digitally reproduce the papers you purchased -- that's probably the bigger problem than finding a 12 x 12 scanner.

As a rule, those rights do not come with copyrighted paper designs.

But to your question, the whole ball game in scanning quality is the hardware and DPI - the better DPI you can get, the better quality of the image. But not all hardware (scanners) are created equal. So you may want to test them before using them.

Additionally, anything printed does not normally scan as well as you think it will because of the nature of how offset printing is prepared and done. Each kind of printer output has it's own sort of issues that will have to be dealt with. Some of them will need to be addressed at the scanning, others MIGHT be able to be corrected in the software.

I hope this helps,
