Calling all DSLR users!!! Just wanted to start a thread where we can discuss the pros & cons of using this type of camera as opposed to the point & shoot variety. What model of camera have you got & have you got any advice or tips you want to share with other users @ DSP.

OK I'll start!

I recently purchased a Fuji S2 after much debate as to whether I should actually turn digital as opposed to sticking primarily as a film user. However after doing my initial research I thought the time had come to take the plunge & to join that fast moving digital band wagon. To my joy I found that I infact took quite well to using a DSLR & that it gave me much more freedom to experiment. The only problem I found with the S2 was that it has a temperamental battery icon that often says the batteries are full when infact often they are dead & I've since found out that this drives many S2 owners nuts & is a well known downside to the camera. I also hate the fact that it runs on 2 types of batteries CR123 & AA (6 batteries alll together) this is one power hungry machine!!! On the positive side & there are many positives to this great camera it as the ability to take some stunning images, it produces great skin tones, it gives excellant low light performance & after reading the manual a couple of times through I found this camera fairly easy to use & nice to handle. So I can definately recommend the S2 to anyone out there who is looking for a quality DSLR. It as its set backs as does any digital camera but the postive points far outweigh any negative.

Ok guys over to you, share some of your tips about your camera or maybe even a little review. Would love to know what type cameras your all using!

TFL, Emma.

I have the Canon EOS 10D it was my first SLR and well I don't suggest it for anyone who has never used an SLR before. I had a love hate relationship with it the first 6 weeks of having it. Didn't help that I lost the manual that first week. Now I can honestly say I totally love it! I didn't expect it to be so big, if you have weak wrists this isn't for you with all I have on it right now it weighs just under 7 pounds. It has a decent battery on it but the bigger the camera the more power they are going to suck out. I purchased the side grip for it, and it lets me put a second battery in there giving me twice the amount of battery time. The con to it is that I don't know when I will be fully drained because the LED is slightly off when you have two batteries in there. I just have to make sure I fully charge both before taking photos. I am learning on this camera still but I really do love it.

This is the camera I am drooling over. Here is one link for it; but there are many more: http://www.royalcamera.com/mindima28meg.html

It's the only one I've seen with the anti-shake feature; which is very important to me. I want to be able to take pictures of my sons at football games. I am sick of point and shoot! I have a FUJI FINEPIX 3800, which has a 6x opt. zoom- but I want the shot I take- not the next frame!

If anyone has used this Minolta- I sure would love to hear from you!

Thanks-
