Hey everybody! What's the story beind your Avatar? I was going to tell about mine, as it was mentioned one day. And, lets face it, when we open up that thread and see the name we look automatically to the avatar and there are a lot of cool and unique ones out there. They're as unusual as the usernames.

Mine is my cat Muffin, who weighs 23lbs, curled up in his favorite spot. It's a very old bread bowl from my husband's family that has served several purposes through the years, but Muffin has found that it fits him perfectly and he thinks he is invisible in there! Ha! Cats are such fun. Oh yeah, that's a tiny little crown on his head. He's such a prince and so tolerant of the antics.

Let's hear about yours!!:)

Whew! What a big hunk of purring pleasure tucked neatly into the bread bowl! LOL...such a cutie!

Mine? Hah... just me with my always expanding mound of laundry.
I no longer have babies on my hip, but their clothes ride there still! :p

Mine is a picture of an ostrich from a local newspaper article. I thought they looked so cute so I saved the article and finally when I got my puter I scanned it and saved it on a disc. I found the disc couple weeks ago and desided to make my avatar using the cute ostrich. :D

I JUST made mine yesterday. My daughter gave me my name years ago, and with the 5000 there on it, it should be good for a few more years. Soooo, it's Mom, with a star for the "o", and little white stars dressing up the blue in the other letters. And then I added part of one of Suzanne's edges doodles, recolored, for a little flair.

Never did an avatar before. HA! never knew how, before. I think it may be a changeable recreation....

This is just all too, too fun!

LOL a cat named Muffin in a bread bowl - ROFL!! Too cute!

Laundry always adds up and love the statement (how true it is) about babies no longer on hips but the laundry still rides there! This is a great thread!

Mine - well it is pretty self explanitory. This is a picture of my Pembroke Welsh Corgi - yes he is just soooo handsome! :) It is such a wonderful breed of dogs. Looking forward to hearing more stories!

This is lots of fun. I am enjoying these stories alot also. Great fun and a great thread doda!

My avatar is from a challenge here at good ole DSP for a T-shirt Logo contest at this year's 'DSP turns 2 Birthday Bash' . I got alot of really great comments from all the members here and though it wasn't the winner it was still my creation and I was proud of it ....so I kept it as my avatar! LOL! :p

Mine is just me at the Ren Faire last year. I haven't really had a decent photo of me since then.

Hey Stacey,

When I look at your Avatar, I wonder what's around your neck? Is that a necklace, shirt, tattoo, or painting from the fair? I just gotta know. It looks very sparkly and pretty.

Well I put mine in for a avatar changing challenge one week - and decided I liked it so much that I didn't want to change it. It also reminds me that reading is something I would really like to find the time to do more of (especially if it is at the beach).

Mine is a cut down version of a layout of me at 2 (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=76529&cat=500&ppuser=9062). It's my favourite photo of me and pretty much the only one that I can look at without feeling critical.

Mine is a pic of me and my first love, my dog, Ozzie. He has passed away but he was so much a part of my life that I still feel like he is a part of me. I also like the way I look in the photo. It was before I got married and had a baby so I was thin...those were the days...

Hi..my avatar is my sweet little Frida. I'm a grandma of 3 and since the kids are all gone she is my baby...I love her to death. She's got the sweetest disposition. I've yet to see anyother like it , even in humans..lol....

Thanks for sharing your stories everyone! Its fun to read about them. :D

Mine is of Joey at 4 days old. This was probably the healthiest day of his life, and one of my favorite pictures of him. He looks so alert and "with it", even though he was 7 weeks premature.

photo of my kids at my grandmother's house. It's very hard to get the triplets to sit and get a decent photo so this is a very rare occasion that I got this one.

Like they say! Every picture tells a story don't it? That's from some song way back when. These stories are great !:)
Rene, my daughter takes pictures like that, too, and they're beautiful. I crack up at you sitting on the kitchen floor, posing for a picture.....lolol

Mine is of my son - I just loved his smile in this photo! I take SO many photos of him he must be getting sick of the camera! :)

Great thread!!

Right now mine is a joke about chocolate covered pirates going on in the DET thread but normally I have a photo of my three girls that I took last spring.

It's one of the few photos of all three of them that fits well in a square and they each have equal amount of space. That's very important to my middle child. She keeps a running count on how many LOs I've done that she's in versus the other two :) :) :)

This is my favorite thread yet! I loved reading all of your descriptions! Mine is boring but I decided that it would have to be a pic of me since this website is strictly for me (since most of my life is strictly Not for me!) Im usually the one with the camera and dont have many pictures of myself unless I take them...
thus my pic is one I took of myself!

Well I guess I will put my two cents in. Someone told me years ago that I was a Porche that thought it was a VW. So when I found this looking through my clipart folder I decided to change my image of myself.
I just finished my week one DET layout and all I see now is a little mouse.
squeek!

I really enjoyed reading everyone's avatar stories. Here's mine. My middle son made my avatar as part of my birthday present last year. Neat, huh?

My avatar is me of course. (except I don't have red hair but definitely round) I had a santa hat on for CIJ but when I took it off and went from winter to August sun in a day it was so bright I added sunglasses from the freebie gallery. Time for a change soon I think.

This will be a long one, and I'll need a tissue to get through it.

My avatar is our kitty "Bootsy", who disappeared in July last year while we were on vacation. (She was an indoors only kitty and we live on the second floor so no one has ever figured out how she got out, or why because she had never made an attempt to before and freaked out the one time we tried to bring her outside without using the cat carrier).

Our house sitter called during our trip to say he hadn't seen her. We said, "oh don't worry, she's just hiding from you because she's afraid of most men. As long as the food is being eaten don't worry." Well, he called again a few days later to say no, the other cat "Bernie" was still around, but not all of the food was gone each morning. When we got home, we searched everywhere. We hung up signs in English and Italian. And offered a huge reward. We had several calls but none of them were her.

It was very hard to loose her. This was my husband's first pet (and after getting married, mine too). At first I didn't think that Bootsy liked me much because she always snuggled with my husband when we were both sitting on the couch. I felt like the evil step mom. That was until my husband was deployed for the first time. After two days of just me and Bootsy she followed me everywhere and slept with me every night. After that, I no longer felt like the evil step mom.

I didn't have an avatar for a long time, and while hunting for something to use, I found her picture in the stuff for my husband's website, the picture is saved so small that it really can't be used for anything else.

People made a lot of fun of us for grieving over a lost cat. But when you've made the decision not to have any children, pets become very special.

I just like to change my avatar like I change my dresses! Sometimes it's when I get a new photo of me that I like (this b&w avatar I made using SnagIt screen capture software so I could experiment with the features and make FAST avatars with cool effects). Sometimes I have my Latest Layout as my avatar.

When you post as much as I do, it's easy to get sick of the same avatar really fast!

This has been so much fun. I have loved reading about you all
Mine is one of our three "furchildren", Shadow. We have two black and one spotted striped tiger furchildren. We found the tiger at 3 weeks old under the house and Shadow helped me raise her. It was comical to see the look on the male (TJ), when we brought the baby into the house. He looked at Shadow with the "what have you done look" The tiger is "Chessie" named for the Chessapeake & Ohio RR cat.
I hate pictures of myself, to many too's. Too old, too fat, and too many wrinkles. :) I just love this site, but because I have to use either dial up or wirless I don't get to post much but I enjoy all the talented work others post. I don't think there is a better digi site around.

Avatars will be changing soon, with the end of DET (Good Luck to everyone).

Okay, I need to know what DET stands for, why it's ending soon and what it has to do with Avatar's changing - please? As you can see I'm new/green and abbreviations keep sending me to the Glossary page but it doesn't list DET......Dawn

zannella1108

It stands for Digital Elite Team - every so often (I forget the time frame) but you can enter to become part of the digital elite team.. it's a 4 week (I think) challenge.. someone who is on the DET might be better able to explain! :)

angminer
09-29-2006, 09:09 AM
The DET is Digital Scrapbook Place's creative team. It is chosen every 6 months during an intense 4 week contest. The new members were announced last night. Congratulations!!!

Anyway, there were some jokes about bribing the judges with pictures of their favorite men so there were some pretty "hot" avatars for a while :) :)

doda
09-29-2006, 09:11 AM
Yes, DET is Digital Elite Team. That contest just finished last night. Congratulations to the winners.
The DET creates layouts using the newest kits created by designers so we can see examples of the new kits in use.
Some of the DSP members changed their avatars to extremely cute men (to try to sway the votes)lolol....and others changed them to cheerleading type avatars. Whenever you change your avatar, everywhere you have posted in the past also changes to the new avatar. Make sense? lolol Anyway it's fun to see the descriptions and sometimes it may be funnier to read the old description with the new picture.

And.....some of the abbreviations stump me also.

I love this thread, and I so often wonder about people's avatars. Well, I'm fairly new, but I don't know that I'll ever get sick of this, my favorite picture of my girls. This was taken over a year ago, but it's just going to be a tough one to beat--makes me smile every time I see it.

I do agree with the poster that said this is the ONLY thing she does for herself, and it makes sense to post a pic of myself there, but I can't bring myself to delete this one yet. Maybe I'll work on that after finally posting a picture to this site! It's bound to happen soon, I finally committed to DSP160and Emma is sure to inspire me to upload soon.
