It's Back to School and Back to Scrapping! :)

The theme this whole month that we'll explore is SCHOOL. You devoted many years of your life there and it's where so much happened that helped to shape who you are today...or at least was how some of your time was spent. ;)

So, first thing is to find some time to just sit and think back - maybe go through some pictures and keep that memories list handy. If you have school age kids, then you have time that you'll be waiting for them. That's a great time to pull out a journal/your memory list and spend 5-10 min on it. Just jot down the memories that come to mind - enough so you'll remember them later on :)

Here are some memory jogs for now - focusing on the lower grades (2nd half of Sept will be on Jr. High and High School):

Do you have any memories of your very first day? Of waiting to be able to start school? What strong memories come to mind of learning to read? To write? At the chalkboard? What came easy to you? What was difficult? Where did you eat lunch? Did you bring a lunch? Eat hot lunch at school? Was hot lunch even offered at your school? How did you get to school and home again? Any playground/recess memories? What was your playground like? Any favorite teacher? Teacher you just endured? The art teacher. The music teacher. The PE teacher. The playground teacher. The secretary, librarian, custodian. The principal.

You've got a million pages in you just on this topic alone! Spend some time finding ones you feel should be scrapped for whatever reason. :) I can guarantee that a bit of time in thought on this will yield some great pages - so let yourself go back. Then just tell what you remember.

Since this topic is so vast, I'd like to encourage you to do more than just one page - so there will be a random drawing at the end for a store coupon or two (depends on how many layouts there are overall). SO POST A LINK IN THIS THREAD for that!

OK - now the designer stuff! :) As always, you aren't required to use the featured kits for the challenge, but that's how you'll get a bonus from the featured designer. And, your layout CAN be doing double duty for other challenges around DSP.

It's LAUREN this time!!!!!!!!!!!!
Use one of these kits, and Lauren will come up with a bonus for you!

Here's one I did a few months back - am considering reworking the journaling as it jumps around so many memories and I'm thinking it may need to be more focused. Or...maybe not, and I'll move on to other memories. Anyway, just an idea that might help with inspiration:

Hmmm, my idea was to scrap memories for my girls, their memory album, not mine. So, I scrapped their school photos this morining, then went to this forum, my girls are in Grade 4 and 8 this year, so I've added some journaling about their last few days anticipating school starting. My album will be a little different and I will have to do two every time, will this fit in this category even though it is not about me? I do have one of me I already did, so will put it in here as a link,

Haven't opened this one for awhile, so not sure who's kit, think it is Lisa's

All three of the school layout I'm working on are for the middle years, so this may be early,

Well, here is one from me for this challenge. I might even be able to add a second page later, now that my computer is cooperating. :)

Here's my first one - lots of journaling, so the backpack worked great!

And, as another idea - ask your kids that read when they first had it 'click' - lots of kids really remember like I do. Do a page on it if you want - it's fun to get their own memories down as well.

This LO is covering me for so many challenges so it's going to sit in the Heritage gallery for this week. (Then it's going to sketch of the month and then it will work it's way back.) It will definitely end up with a companion page though for me to finish these memories.

Can someone spell out for me what ages you are referring to you when you talk about "junior high"? We have totally different terms for schooling here so I'm a bit lost as to that age division. Thanks.

My layout's also covering for Heritage and BOM.

The Class Photo (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=130839&cat=847)

What I really want to scrap is my class photos and I want to do them in the same style as I have done Mum & Dad's (they're in my gallery). But do you think I can find them.

Thanks for the reminder on that - I think Angie's change over to working for Simple Scrapbooks messed this up - you'll be getting a bonus somehow for that, and for this one shortly. :)

New challenge to be up today - I apologize for tardiness here. I was flat on my back with a nasty cold most of last week. I'm FINALLY really feeling good for the first time today!

Where'd you see that? I don't recall doing that for BoM stuff, but then again, I could be wrong. Let me know where you read that. :)

Hi Janet - I saw it in your first post in this thread... If its a mistake, that's fine.. I was just asking :)

The Quick Click was so tempting I just had to do something (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=134285&cat=551) with it right away. I can't wait to print it and see how it comes out!

Thanks SO much for the ever so gentle whack upside the head. ;) I swear lately I think I'm losing it - couldn't have a thing to do with age or being overly busy! LOL!
