When you have a low opacity or VERY small item in photoshop the move tool often wont pick it up - such is the case with the netting in the IOTW this week - its fine lines are so small that it is very difficult to drag it onto your layout with the move tool - My tip for such items is to simply copy and paste onto your layout - once on your layout use the transform tool to drag it around. THis works for low opacity objects as well once on your layouts
I'm not understanding this tip, but would LOVE to! Why won't the Move Tool pick it up? I unchecked the Auto Select Layer box in the Options Bar, and I can click anywhere to move everything on that layer, don't have to "grab" anything on the object itself.
If you like this box checked, you can hold the Ctrl key down to turn it off temporarily, or if you like it unchecked, you can hold the Ctrl key down to turn it on temporarily.
Is this what you're referring to?
Thanks, Lauren!

Items of low opacity are not picked up by the move tool even with auto select layer on - I always have auto select layer option on - low opacity objects are not picked up - it will often pick up the layer below instead -
I pointed this out as some people were having problems dragging the netting layer on the item of the week this week - ( which was created by me_ )= the move tool has trouble picking this up unless you click on exactly the right spot as the lines are very fine.
OIC, then using the Transform Command box to move it once it's on there? I wonder if it's a v7 thing, I made some 1 pixel netting, lowered opacity to 1%, and it had no trouble picking it up.
I've only recently discovered some people copy and paste everything onto the new canvas rather than using the Move Tool to drag and drop. It's so fun seeing all the different ways people get the same results!
The Ctrl key with the Move Tool has become very useful to me since Margie posted about it, especially for tiny items I can't find in the Layers stack, I just Ctrl-click and drag right on it rather than hunting down the layer in the palette!
