Suz and I thought it was time for a 'Fandango Exam' :p :D :D :D :D
So this week we are running a combination challenge/contest
We want you to come up with a layout using EVERYTHING we have focused on in past weeks. So, create a freestyle layout with the following:
1. Inventive use of space
2. Use edges & borders in creative ways
3. Use your photos in creative ways
4. Be creative in your use of text and journaling
5. Mix and match elements and design styles
6. and of course....doodle, doodle, doodle
The only limitation is that you need to use DSP product...any product. You can do whatever you want with it and you can make your own elements to go with it (this IS the Fandango after all!!)
Post to the Fandango gallery by next Wednesday 9:00 a.m. est.
Suz and I will pick the top ten layouts, we will post a poll and then YOU get to vote on the best one. We will have prizes for the top three vote getters.
Sound like fun? Show us what you have learned by playing in the Fandango, okay?
To get you started, here is a layout I did this afternoon:

I missed all the previous challenges because I was either out of town or just too slow with scrapping and posting. This is my first attempt and hopefully freestyle enough.

I love this style but find myself so intimidated by it. :(

Sure you can jump in, you don't have to have participated in the previous challenges. We are always excited to welcome people to the Fandango. The ONLY requirement is that you abide by our 'motto'........Fearless, feckless and HAVING FUN!!!! ;) :D :D :D

Here is my try. I worked on it today. It was actually therapeutic. I hardly thought about my friend at all while doing this one. (Just found out my friend has terminal cancer)

I hope it will be ok to submit an old LO - with theme week going on and me behind on everything as usual, I may not be able to spend the 2-3 days I normally need to try to fandango :D This LO was influenced by the Fandango style and I doubt if I would ever have made anything like this if not for Fandango. I did this for a few challenges but I've moved it to the Fandango gallery. Since it was submitted on Sept 5, its on page 2 of the gallery.

Don't know if more than one is acceptable. Here are two from me;

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=133567&cat=2943
Let me know if I need to remove one, please. It is quite an achievement for me to manage two for the one challenge, I mostly struggle to get just one in!!!!
Not sure if I have met the criteria or not but I am sure that I had fun!!
Edit: Made a mistake with the link, fixed now (I hope)

well, it looks like I won't have time to make a 'real' entry for the assignment this week, so I guess my "you did what" layout will have to do!! I had something else in mind but life has gotten in the way of fun.

Okay, I may be a little slow, but I have read some of these forums, but still not quite sure what "freestyle" is - do you take pieces of a kit and change color and shape or do you make stuff on your own totally????
sorry!

Here is a thread for exactly that question: What is Fandango/Freestyle??? (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15984)
I think it explains it pretty well.
It's not so much about altering kits or elements but a layout style.

That really helped, thanks!! What I would love to have now, is for someone to look at a few LO's that I "think" might be a start to freestyle... this way I would know if I was doing freestyle or not. What is the best way to accomplish this, could I just post a few in the freestyle challenge and if they aren't freestyle, then I could just remove them or should I take a class - sorry for so many questions.. but it's like I'm a sponge, sucking in all this knowledge!! :D

Hope I made it in time (always confused with the time zones anyway). Just got back from 1st time skiing so this was inspired by that experience.

Kristen,
I think our newest challenge would be perfect for this. See the information here:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18007
Just post a link to your layout and ask if the layout is freestyle or not and what things could be added or changed that would make it more freestyle.
