I now know how to make the drop shadows on both the picture and the mat in this photo. Is there an easy way to make the mat center under the photo. I have been "eyeballing" it - but figure there must be a better way to do this in Photoshop 7.

The way I do this is to link the picture layer with the matt layer, select the move tool, then use the align horizontal centres, align vertical certres in the task bar (I use CS but I'm sure it will be there in 7) Since "discovering" these buttons I use them all the time for all sorts - hope this helps, take care, Meryl

I have to ask, who's baby is this in your sample? She looks just like Amanda's daughter, Carly...is it?

And FWIW, I do the same alignment trick as Meryl, works like a charm for aligning all sorts of things in various ways. Just make sure the layers are linked, and the one you DON'T want to move is the one selected!

Thanks for the help - I'll give it a try! (ok - just tried it! awesome! - thanks so much) - I love learning all this new stuff!

I don't know who the baby is - I got the sample from the website in the quick classes section.

Happy birthday Carly! Today is my sister Jennifer's birthday too: did you notice her new avatar wearing a bday hat and her sitting on her bag of tax money?
No one ever forgets her birthday! Carly will have the same good fortune made of it, I'm sure!
