Alright here is a new challenge for all of our Fandango friends! You all know that freestyle layouts use open space in fun, fresh, fandango ways...right? ;) And you all have gotten VERY GOOD at doing this. However, I have noticed a certain trend.....you are all just using one photo! :p :D Now, don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with doing 1-photo layouts in fact my gallery is filled with them. But for a fun Fandango twist I thought I would put you all to the challenge!! So here it is:
Make a freestyle layout using open space in fun and inventive ways but you must use at least FOUR photos!! Got it?
Okay then...let's get dancin'!!!! :D :D :D

Any examples of this out there Deb? LOL 4 photos?!? :-) Ok, So I just today did a layout with four photos and it was my first time using that many....Now, I'd be interested in seeing this done while leaving open space too!!! LOL Ok, just kidding.......but I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Well, Deb I was laughing to myself after reading this challenge and was awfully glad my dh wasn't around. You sure do know how to shake things up! But I am up to it... now to find 4 photos...

OK, here is try two. I am SO BAD at trying to follow written advice. I so need to see it. I tried to follow Debb's advice. Hopefully this is what she was thinking (please read my comments on the photo and let me know):

Open space meaning white space? I'm scared of white space! To me a background is law. I'm a clutterbug! But I'll give it a go!
Can I play? Here's my go at 4 photos and open space: The Art of Sand Pouring (according to George) (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=136394&cat=500&ppuser=6894)

Open space does not have to be white...you can use a background for open space as long as that background in more visually 'still' compared to the other things going on in your layout. ;)

This will be hard for me!! Hard in a good way though. I almost always use one photo since I print my pages 8x8 and I don't want the pics to be too small. I've often thought it would be interesting to compare how the size we print at influences the way we scrap. Ok... I'll be back with a layout soon.

Ok I didn't end up having a lot of free space, 'cause I'm a clutterbug...but Ro-Ro is begging for a lesson so we'll try again! Here's our first attempt.

I haven't had a chance to make a sample for this challenge, but I looked through my gallery and found these two that 'fit.' This first has some open space and I also used the open space in the main photo for my journaling:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=123842&cat=500&ppuser=1383
This second one is really a simple design but the terrific doodle element in Rene's kits gives it a real fandango kick:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=123253&cat=500&ppuser=1383
And Ann your question regarding the size you scrap affecting your design is an interesting one. I usually print out my layouts in an 8x8 format but sometimes if it is a really special layout I will enlarge it to 12x12 and print in the larger format. Often I find when I do that I need to make some adjustments for scale and spacing. I have often wondered if the size of my monitor would change the look of my scrapping....but somehow I can't seem to convice my husband that it is worth the $500 investment to complete this particular experiment! ;) :) :)

My effort for this week's Fandango.. I think it meets most of the 'criteria' for fandango but it's still not looking fandango :( I have a couple of doodles, i used open space on the pic itself, i used handwritten journaling, i had a small cluster of elements & i put text on the pic. Oh there are 4 pics too for this particular challenge...

Not sure if this is what we're after, but there are four gorgeous photos of my eldest at one down her Grandma's pond. Suppose there should be a little more open space, I've just saw so many pages with loads of embellishments lately, I sort of through some of that in too,

Here's my Fandango Challenge entry for the week.... It isn't over the top fandango and I'm not sure if it is really a negative space thing or not since my background is actually a photo overlayed onto Bethy Nixon's beautiful paper (Vinyl Memories) but I tried to keep the rest of the layout 'together'... and I did use four pics. This has been the hardest Fandango challenge yet for me... I'm going to keep working at it. Thanks for looking!

I'm with Ann - I used to do 6X6 or 12X12 mainly. One too small, the other too big (unwieldy albums that took up too much space!). I do 8X10 or 8X8 now and love it! I am using only one or two photos per layout, but in doing so, I am more selective and am finding the quality of layout is better that way!
I just changed my big leaf layout to add another photo (and duplicated it 3X since I didn't have 4 photos of one subject). The change hasn't shown up yet and will take a while (anyone know why? whenever I change a layout, it takes a long time for it to update in the gallery!). I'll post the link when I see it has updated!

This is my first fandango attempt. It's a layout that I had already posted but I think it needs some serious cc. I'm not sure I understand what fandango is all about but I guess this is a way to learn!! I'm looking forward to comments, information, and cc :-)

This next link is to a layout I did for a fandango challenge I didn't get finished in time and entered in the art journal instead. I like it better than this one so am posting the link. :-) Wish I could include the great stories that go with some of the headlines, but the best ones are too long.
