I was wondering if you can Add new fonts to use in pse2? if so how can you download and most importantly use a new font in pse2? i have managed to download a new font to my hard drive but can't figure out how to get to use it in elements2.
thanks, I appreciate any info.
I feel like a fish out of water. but I am learning to love digital scrapbooking.

Any fonts that are in your windows fonts folder will show up in pse2 - that is the simplest approach - just move your new font into your C: WINDOWS: Fonts folder -
You may like to look into getting a font manager and save your fonts to another folder and just temporarily install them to use in scrapbooking though - in which case Amanda has written a great tutorial on The font Thing which is a free font manager - you can read her tutorial here (http://digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/fontthing.shtml)

That's a great turtorial on The Font Thing

Also, in my PSE class there's a big section about how to download and install fonts in Windows. We'll be starting again Nov 1

I think I heard that Windows can only have 3000 fonts installed, but that might not be true with the new version. That sounds like a lot, but I'm quickly approaching my limit, LOL! We'll see if XP can handle it :p I'm Emma, and I'm a fontaholic

Glad to have you!

Thanks Lauren, I checked and It is in my windows font folder, but it still doesn't show up.perhaps it is not compatiable, can you recomend a place for free fonts that you know are compatiale with PSE2? other than that I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I unzipped the file and installed it in windows but so far no go. I am stumped. it doesn't show up in win word either.I really appreciate the help.

Thanks
Susie

Thanks Emma, i will look into taking your class. So far I only have the standard fonts that came with windows.( I still can't seem to get a one new one to install) So not much need for a manager yet lol, but I can see I may need one soon in the future as there are so many great fonts out there.
Thanks
Susie

Is it a ttf file? If so, it should be compatible with windows. Sometimes fonts are not in alphabetical order. Have you looked at the very bottom of your list to see if it is there?

I have actually looked , it is a ttf file but it is not anywhere except listed in the font file. looking at the other files in the psfonts file they are listed as pfb postscript outlines, could this be the problem?or have i got it in the wrong folder?
thanks

I Am so sorry , i am so DAFT! i was indeed putting them into the wrong folder, i placed them in Ps font folder instead of winows fonts.

Thanks so much for all the help!
I really appreciate it!

so they're showing up for you now? So glad!

saving them in the Windows Fonts folder is different than installing them in that folder. You can have a lot of them in there that aren't installed (but when you uninstall, it's deleted completely, so watch out!)

Also, you don't have to restart PS to see them; they update immediately.

Hope to see what you came up with! Font fetish awaits you :D
